I wouldn't mind:
1x Bly
1x Aayla
2x Star Corps
1x Ground beetle.

There's no way there can be 4 figures & a beetle. Unless the beetle is under-scaled.

I think this could be a possible lineup.  After all, this is set to be a Target exclusive Battle Pack, right?  And Hasbro has stated that the exclusive Battle Packs tend to get new offerings instead of the wide release Battle Packs.  Plus, if you look at past offerings, we've seen decent pack-ins with the Target Battle Packs.  Senate Pod anyone?

The Bullpen / Marvel Legends

I scored some ML14 pieces yesterday.  I'm just trying to space out the purchases at this point.  I scored Psylocke, Falcon and FA Iron Man so far.  Overall though, the lineup seems kind of weak on character selection.  And looking at the Mojo components, he doesn't seem all that large.  In fact it seems like all the BAF's are moving in a smaller direction.

I also scored one of the X-Men Iceman figures.  I got the regular one and passed on the one with the doo rag.  That just looks ridiculous.  And for the time being I've passed on Nightcrawler and Colossus.  They're better figures than some of the early offerings in this line, but the Marvel Legends version are just so much better.

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: 30th Anniversary Tin Collector Set
« on: October 22, 2006, 01:33 AM »
Saw someone pulled the old switcheroo with the tin sets already.  I had been looking for an AOTC tin today, and I was pretty stoked to see Jango and Dooku when I walked down this one toy aisle today.  But then I looked closer and saw that the package was for the ROTS set, and the other figure 2-pack had Mace and Yoda.  Someone apparently was after the Clone Troopers.  LAME.

Scored the ANH 30AV tin set.  This one and the AOTC set are the highest on my list right now.

Other Toy Lines / Re: McFarlane Sportspicks

Started seeing the NFL team 3-packs this weekend.  I honestly don't have a lot of interest in these other than the Giants set.  I saw one of those today, but the paintjob on Plax was pretty bad.  I'm passing until I can find a good one.

The Dallas lineup seems kind of blah.  You would think that McFarlane might have tried to get a TO in the lineup for that.  The Pittsburgh set is okay with Joey Porter being in the lineup, and I know Big Ben was kind of hot as a figure last year.  But I'm not buying another Hines Ward.  The Pats lineup is decent, but really, how much has Corey Dillon even played this year?  It seems like Maroney is getting most of the carries for New England.

I definitely like the concept here, but what other teams are good choices for this kind of offering?  You could probably do a Colts set.  Maybe a Chargers set, too.  But who else, really?

What a dope Todd McFarlane is.  Call me crazy, but I never see girls with big hair clamoring for action figures in the local toy departments.  AND I SPEND A LOT OF TIME IN NEW JERSEY!

Gentle Giant / Re: Clone Wars Maquettes Yoda

Not bothering.  It's just ridiculous how Gentle Giant expects us to jump through hoops for these things.  And they do this one with an even smaller edition size than the BHS mini-bust?  Please.  We're your customer base Gentle Giant.  Stop disrespecting us.

Anyone buying them for just 1 or 2 figures should wait. They will be re-released on cards or in battle packs quicker than you can say Re-Hashbro  ::)

In a way I agree with this sentiment.  Hasbro has re-released so many figures that eventually this may well happen.  But for the health of the line?  I think if we want to see a variety of product on the market and we *somewhat* like a product, then I think we should try to support lines like the Collector Tins.  Otherwise we may see this kind of variety in the Star Wars line dry up.

Try again.  Look at the POTF2 4-LOM and tell me that this figure doesn't need to be resculpted before Aurra Sing.

Okay, so back in June, they "had no plans" for POTF-style cardbacks in the retro-vintage line.  I get it.  But three months have passed, and the cat is out of the bag, as far as next year's coin pack-ins go.  So wouldn't that be a perfect time to do a run of POTF-style cards?  I mean, they're already manufacturing the coins anyway, and clearly there's interest in POTF-style cards, and it would be a great opportunity to get a little extra mileage out of the retro-vintage line. . .

So what do you guys think?  POTF-style vintage cards next year, or no?

I would definitely say that it's a possibility.  First, Hasbro has been asked some VERY direct questions about specific products in the Q&A sessions, and in some cases they've offered flat denials.  Fast forward to Comic Con and some of those self-same products were confirmed by Hasbro either in the display cases at their booth, or in the presentation they held.  The Q&A's certainly aren't gospel, and Hasbro has played some things very close to their vests.

Another things that makes me think that they may make a POTF vintage figure is this:  The recent Hasbro piece about that the collectible coin album stated that the album has some extra slots that are set aside for duplicates and potential promotional coins.  The POTF coin might fit in with the whole promotional coin concept that they've been discussing.

I've had "island" cigars about a dozen times and I think the "bang to hype" ratio is way out of whack.  But you have to have one, just so you can say you did it.

The quality doesn't live up to the hype.  The reason being that the state of agriculture on the island has slid pretty far down.  The embargo has definitely had effects on the state of things there.  Should things change politically on the island, I think there will probably be a sort of boom there in agriculture (tobacco, sugar cane, rum, etc) and tourism.  But the political climate has hurt the island.  I know I'd be smoking their cigars if things change, but even with Castro's illness it looks like things are going to remain the same.
