I've seen the general manager of the store and a number of their employees in both Target and Toys R Us stores filling shopping carts with not only Star Wars merchandise but other HTF collectibles as well.  And when you go into their brick & mortar store and you find current store exclusives marked up 300%, the situation is just galling.  How you cannot define that as scalping is a tough sell.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Battle of Endor Wave
« on: September 28, 2006, 06:36 PM »
For those of you who are into DK's line of reference books, you may have noticed an interesting tidbit on the caucasian Endor Rebel Trooper who is part of the Battle of Endor wave (pt2).  He's got a name!  According to the book, this trooper isn't just a trooper, he's a flag officer by the name of General Cracken (sp?).  You can get that info from the newly released Complete Visual Dictionary which is in stores now.

I read online that Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) is having some reservations about whether or not to sign on for the last two movies in the series.  Read about it in this Newsweek article.  It would really be tough to recast the role, IMO.  But the article does state that Daniel Radcliff (Harry Potter) and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) have signed on for the remainder of the series.

You mean $99

These guys are crooks.  Their shop is located near me, and even though they have an account directly with Hasbro they still have buyers scouring the local stores for potential stock.  THEY STINK AND THEY'RE SCALPERS.

Try closing iTunes and re-open it.  If iTunes still doesn't recognize the iPod, then I would reboot the PC.  However if it does, you should be able to eject the iPod from your connection.

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: Felucia Battle Pack(Maybe)
« on: September 27, 2006, 06:51 PM »
I don't think this Battle Pack is going to be ALL repacks.  Hasbro has stated in the Q&A's that the exclusive Battle Packs get at least some new figure sculpts.  It's the mass retail Battle Packs that tend to be all repacks.

If this is in fact a Target exclusive, then I think we're in store for at least something new in this set.  I'm hopeful for the Felucia Ground Beetle or Gelagrub.  As always, it's a wait and see kind of situation.

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: Hasbro confirms new Windu in 2007!
« on: September 27, 2006, 12:07 PM »
It seems that the concept for the ROTS Pilot Obi-Wan was definitely at work here.  It's a great figure and it was extremely well received.  With that in mind I can understand Hasbro using that as a starting point for Mace Windu.

This Mace Windu is obviously a different figure from the ROTS Obi-Wan.  The boots are obviously quite different.  The same goes for the tunic.  It hangs much lower than Obi-Wan's.

As for the face sculpt?  It isn't perfect.  But how many face sculpts over the years have been dead-on?  Especially with the prequels.  There are really only a few figures that I think have captured some of the human characters well.  A couple of the Obi-Wan's have been good, and we've gotten our fair share of Obi-Wan's.  Anakin?  Only a couple have come close to the mark, and that's a pretty low batting average IMO.  Qui-Gon?  Maybe one or two Qui-Gon's have come close to the mark, but for the most part they haven't been great.

When we're dealing with figures of this scale, you're going to have to deal with variations in facial sculpts.  Even though Hasbro might sculpt the heads in a 2X scale and they're working with a face scan of an actor, none of them are ever going to be perfect or APPEAR to be perfect.  I think overall they're much better at capturing droids, aliens and armored characters likenesses when you're working in this scale.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Clone Wars 3D Line (Rumors)?
« on: September 20, 2006, 12:15 PM »
The indications from Hasbro at Comic Con are that they would be interested in supporting the new Clone Wars cartoon.  But it seems like we're not going to see the cartoon until either late 2007 or early 2008, and obviously the line will be the same way.

Damnit!!!  That looks way too cool for me to pass on.  And here I REALLY want to hate Gentle Giant for screwing up the '06 exclusives.

And that's all the bounty hunters, correct?

Dengar was shown at SDCC, but I don't think that piece is up for pre-order yet.  The only as yet to be mentioned Bounty Hunter from the Executor after that is 4-LOM.

The timing is definitely off.  Legends 2 should have been released around the time of the Hall of Fame game and inductions.  That's really the peak of NFL nostalgia for the year.  The first regular wave should be out now, but I get the feeling that the street date for these lines had more to do with retail resets than coordinating with the start of the NFL season.  Most retail resets start in late August in preparation for the back to school season.

Other Collectibles / Re: Unleashed figures

Distribution for RH Vader and the first issue of Slave Leia was pretty low.  Most people who've been with the Unleashed line since it's inception in 2002 will cite that the first two waves (Jango & Maul in wv 1; Vader, Padme & Anakin in wv 2) shipped too heavily and eventually pegwarmed.  That made wave 3 (Mace & Dooku) tough to get and even tougher to get was wave 4 (RH Vader & Slave Leia).  Things got better from there on, but RH Vader remains one of the hottest Unleashed figures ever.

There are currently 2 of them on eBay.  One guy has a starting bid of over $130 for RH Vader.  It's just proven to be a VHTF piece.

Mike and Brent are both right.  The first Vader in the Unleashed line was the version that's just been re-released.  It came out in the second wave of the Unleashed line.  That wave also had the AOTC Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala.  The RH Vader was one of the last pieces on the original style cardback and shipped with Slave Leia.  That wave was VERY difficult to come by.  And when you factor in Vader's popularity compared to other characters in the Saga, it makes the RH Vader a tough piece to get.

Grievous is something of a puzzling choice for these reissues.  He was definitely more difficult to get in comparison with Obi-Wan and Anakin in ROTS Unleashed wave 1.  But overall it wasn't that difficult of an Unleashed piece to acquire.  As for the Stormtrooper and Yoda?  I still see a lot of people clamoring to get those pieces.  As such you would think that Hasbro would be trying to capitalize on the demand for those characters.  After all, none of those secondary market dollars wind up in their pockets.  Which has to lead you to wondering WHY Hasbro chose Jedi Luke and Grievous.  My guess is that Hasbro felt that they needed to get a major hero in the lineup.  To them that must mean Luke.  They certainly weren't going for Hero/Villain balance, because 3 of the characters being reissued at Target and WalMart are villains.  Perhaps they don't regard Yoda as a major enough hero?  And with Grievous, I think that there was a concious effort to touch upon Revenge Of The Sith, because every other character in the lineup is an OT character.
