It seems that the concept for the ROTS Pilot Obi-Wan was definitely at work here. It's a great figure and it was extremely well received. With that in mind I can understand Hasbro using that as a starting point for Mace Windu.
This Mace Windu is obviously a different figure from the ROTS Obi-Wan. The boots are obviously quite different. The same goes for the tunic. It hangs much lower than Obi-Wan's.
As for the face sculpt? It isn't perfect. But how many face sculpts over the years have been dead-on? Especially with the prequels. There are really only a few figures that I think have captured some of the human characters well. A couple of the Obi-Wan's have been good, and we've gotten our fair share of Obi-Wan's. Anakin? Only a couple have come close to the mark, and that's a pretty low batting average IMO. Qui-Gon? Maybe one or two Qui-Gon's have come close to the mark, but for the most part they haven't been great.
When we're dealing with figures of this scale, you're going to have to deal with variations in facial sculpts. Even though Hasbro might sculpt the heads in a 2X scale and they're working with a face scan of an actor, none of them are ever going to be perfect or APPEAR to be perfect. I think overall they're much better at capturing droids, aliens and armored characters likenesses when you're working in this scale.
