Just getting word in from our staff at Toy Fair 2007, and it seems Hasbro didnt disappoint this year and dished out the first glimpse of the Force Unleashed line. The line is based around the upcoming next gen video game of the same name. Pictures should be arriving soon... I can't wait to see these myself and am hoping for something pretty spiffy that fits in with the rest fo the line well.
-
Argh! Must have pictures NOW.... :P
-
Workin' on it Nathan. ;) Big files, take a while to upload...
So far though I can say there's two damn spiffy clones coming...
Also a black royal guard, battle damaged Vader (this sounds cool), and 2 Jedi (male and female). This line looks cool too. *drool*
Some preliminary stuff is coming in...

Love the new Royal Guard...
Those Heavy troopers look cool as well...
-
*Drools* oooohhhhhhhaaaaahhhhhhhhh!
the clones look pretty wierd...but cool kinda wierd. the guard just looks like a repaint.
-
According to Hasbro the guard likely will just be the ROTS figure (not the removable helmet one from the comic packs, most likely), which was pretty slick itself so I'm ok with that.
Love the saber staff... that's vicious looking.
-
Will this be a seperate line ala H&V?
-
(http://photos2.figures.com/gallery2/data/574/IMG_0185.JPG)
Oh snapz!
-
Omg i female star wars figure that isnt Leia! :o
-
Holy crap! Female Imperial ... VERY cool. I foresee a ton of Ysanne Isard and Admiral Daala customs from this one.
I'm guessing that's the Battledamage Vader at the very top of the troopers pic?
Did they show any of the packaging?
-
Female Imperials! Crap, this line is awesome. Those troopers are sweet, the game looks great. Atleast the characters.
-
Female SA Imperial Officers? Yowza.
-
Female SA Imperial Officers? Yowza.
Seriously. I sure hope a male version in that outfit is on the horizon though.
-
This line looks good so far. Very cool.
-
Yeah, very cool looking line. I wonder what the packaging and pricing will be? Similar to the basic line?

Male Jedi... clicky image.

Whooped Vader... Clicky image.

Also our much clearer/higher res image of the female Imperial Officer
(http://www.jedidefender.com/gallery/files/gallery/Conventions/Toy_Fair_2007/Hasbro/TF_2007_Hasbro_0048.jpg)
I must have many... removable hat too? Holy **** Hasbro, where was this on Chief Bast's figure? :)
-
I really like that female Imperial Officer, I don't collect modern except that vinty line but this figure looks really good for me to pick up.
-
And she's a hottie. ;)
The female Jedi looks pretty lame to be honest, but the dude one, holy **** holy **** holy ****:
(http://www.jedidefender.com/gallery/files/gallery/Conventions/Toy_Fair_2007/Hasbro/tn_TF_2007_Hasbro_0045.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/gallery/files/gallery/Conventions/Toy_Fair_2007/Hasbro/TF_2007_Hasbro_0045.jpg)
:o I really dig the "samurai" topknot and the armor integrated with traditional Jedi attire. Not to mention the tasteful use of softgoods.
-
I think there'll be head variants in the female Imperial.
The Vader looks great, WTF happened to him this game? This game looks frickin' great.
-
I've been studying the pics for the better part of this evening, and it has occured to me that the new Force Unleashed Stormtroopers might be using kitbashed parts from the Concept Stormies. If you'll notice, the helmets, upper arm and leg structures are strikingly similar.
Neat idea, in any case, as I've always liked the Concept Stormie. Still, does anyone else see something here?
-
I thought I was going to pass on this wave when I read about it on a rumor list or whatever, but Hasbro's getting my money with these guys. I'm going to try to get one of each of the individual characters, two Shadow Guards, six Storm Trooper-like guys, and three Scout Trooper-like guys. Each figure looks phenomenal, and I'm very excited about this wave.
-
Holy ****, those are awesome! My favorite of the bunch is the defeated Vader. He's most impressive.
Kevin

It looks exactly like you mentioned. I was trying to describe to Jesse what it looked like while we were uploading the pictures and I was thinking Animated Cody, but you have nailed it for me.
Rob took great photos. I am going to see if I have another random photo on my camera with the Hat of the female officer to see if it truly is removable.
-
:o :o :o :o :o :o ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D YES!YES!!YES!!! Bring it on!
-
My first thought when I heard about these was also "ugh, more KOTOR crap" - you know, EU junk from video games.
Based on these pics though, I will definitely be grabbing openers for the Lady Imperial (is she Juno or Maris?), Samurai Jedi Dude, and the Battle Damaged Vader. Very impressive damage, he must take a beating in that game... :D
-
(http://www.jedidefender.com/gallery/files/gallery/Conventions/Toy_Fair_2007/Hasbro/TF_2007_Hasbro_0047.jpg)
Damn, there are some impressive looking figures in this sub-line, but this Battle-Damaged (or how about nearly Battle-Destroyed ;)) Vader has knocked my socks off. I love where you can see how his artificial lower leg is attached to his upper leg.
I can see me buying a half dozen of the female Imperial.
-
That's quite and assortment. I really don't know what to think. They're good looking figures, but I'm not into the EU so much. I know I'll pick up the Female Imp officer, but I trying to decide about the Troopers.
-
The female Imperial Officer looks like Elsa from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
-
Anyone know when these come out??? I really need those troopers for some projects. I was trying to use modded Clone parts to make a new armor design but those are better than anythin i could have com up with.
-
WoW.
I've very strict EU policy. I avoid it like the plague but these and the dogs whattsits.
I'm getting 'em!!!
-
You know, the more I think about it, the more I realize that the female Imperial, Jedi Samurai, and Shadow Guard are the figures I'm most looking forward to out of the entire 30AC so far.
(Along with the Obi-Wan & Alpha comic pack, but that's in a side line.)
-
looks cool i cant wait to learn more. 8)
-
I'm down for getting these figs...I saw a nice preview of this game at last years CC, it looks awesome
-
:P Ihis is going to be a very expensive Star Wars year!
-

No date yet...at least not given to us. We heard the game was not finished yet and you know how hasbro likes a mass blitz.
And no packaging was shown either.
They were very proud of the fact that the figure images had not leaked out yet. Daryl Depreist was practically beaming when he was talking to me about it.
-
I guess I'm OK with this stuff, the figures all look top notch. I am disappointed (not really the right term) that they made an EU Black Tuniced Imperial Officer before they made a Movie version. I also agree with Jesse that removable caps should have been included with Chief Bast if they made one here...
-
I am disappointed (not really the right term) that they made an EU Black Tuniced Imperial Officer before they made a Movie version.
They're pretty much one and the same...
-

To be honest, that IS pretty impressive.
I hadn't even caught a whiff of these figures, beyond the vague rumors that there would be toys to go with the game. Good job on someone's part....
-

They're pretty much one and the same...
Except for the breasts...and the fact there are no female Imperials in the movies...
-
I hate to say it, but for the first time, I am going to hoard these figures like a freak. Like a freaking hot wheels jerk. Screw anyone who wants them until I've had my fill.
Ok, not that extreme but I really like them a lot.
:P
-
Female SA Imperial Officers? Yowza.
Oh yeah, and like said, look out for some customs from that figure base.
:P
-
Except for the breasts...and the fact there are no female Imperials in the movies...
So this figure has 200% more breastage than any Imperial figure yet produced ... and you're complaining? :o
Tsk, tsk. And you call yourself a man.... :P
-
Yeah OCB, that irony wasn't lost on Paul and I either... We were talking about that briefly on the phone... Not that I didn't care for the figure, but Paul noted that if they do this as a human male at some point, well the cash could just be direct deposited to Hasbro really. :)
The sculpt on that female Impy is outstanding, and she's so simply generic... I'll buy many and truly hope the hat fits other heads well. She is EU though no doubt... I think the Force Unleashed line really is looking like some of the better EU to mix in if you can stomach it though. The Trooper on the left in the double shot of them (Cody-ish helmet) is very VERY reminiscent of the Aquatic Assault Stormtroopers from the West End Games books... Some distinct similarities.
Paul mentioned a stylized look to them when he/I were talking and I can see that, but at the same time I thnk they fit quite well with the basic line...
My gf's kid went nuts for this line so I think for that market they're a hit... Collectors I think will really base judgment on the game's popularity or their own like/dislike of the EU. Such is the gamble EU's been for Hasbro.
I'm happy... I can see where a non-EU crowd comes from though too when it's an entire line like this. Part of me really hopes they do well though and that Hasbro maybe considers small sub-lines of EU mixed into the basic lines now, as SOTE was, the EU of 98, Clone Wars, and now the Force Unleashed figures... I'm ok with that kind of quick limited EU line getting snuck into the basic film figure waves that make up the vast majority of the year... if any of that makes sense? ???
-
All these look great, especially the troopers. And though I always try to be as positive as possible, or at least just not voice my disapproval, I can't help but mention that the name Force Unleashed is awful. To me, anything with Unleashed has tended to suck (for lack of a better word). And if I hadn't have read the previous posts, I'd have no idea that these figures are the standard 3 3/4 variety and not part of those larger or smaller Unleashed lines. Just basically, the name's confusing.
So, any packaging indications? Are these going to be sold separately or in a multipack for the game?
-
Anyone know when these come out???
February 29th.

Really? Or is that just the start of the 30AC release date in the US?
I'm glad Scott pointed out that the female officer wasn't in the movie. I realize that the FU (heh) line is EU but I couldn't help but wonder if there were any female imperials in those movies. I'd thought not, but what is EU if not revisionist history (no, wait, that's the prequel trilogy - I'm so confused).
I don't dislike the figures in the line at all, they look quite sharp. And I've never been opposed to EU stuff, having enjoyed the original EU figures like the Darktrooper quite a bit. I guess this is Hasbro's way of getting around the canon of the movies with a female officer.
BTW, did Hasbro coin the term force unleashed intentionally thinking the intials would become the norm: FU? Inside joke? If it is, I like it better than the SDCC stuff.
-

Look closer at the date... :P

All the rumor lists and that leaked info from the Wal-Mart computer had these figures listed as Wave 9. This wave is why Hasbro said only 8 out of 9 waves will have a McQuarrie figure (since this wave obviously does not).
No word yet on if they will be carded on the 30AC cards or somthing different, but they will definitely be single carded.
-
D'oh!
-
I think Force Unleashed is actually the title of the game, so any blame/praise would be directed towards LucasArts not Hasbro.
Try to leave your existing "Unleashed" baggage at the door. ;)
-
Steve Sansweet previewed the game itself at Comic Con. He said that in the game you would get to see the Force unleashed. I guess that the name was floating around at that time, and since then there had been postings on video game sites calling this title The Force Unleashed. One site even had what looked like preliminary cover art.
Also, based on talking with Darryl DePriest from Hasbro, he said that the list that got published a few weeks back was legit. It had actually come from Hasbro's French division. With that in mind it seems pretty clear that since this wave was listed under Basic Figures, we can safely assume that they're going to be part of the Basic Figure line. As for packaging? I think these might be on a card with graphics similar to what was hanging over the figures at Toy Fair.

Nathan beat me to that... ;) Yeah the line's got zero to do with "unleashed" forms of figures so it's definitely possible to get confused but nothing tied to the pre-posed figures of any scale like Unleashed have been. Hasbro's gotta run with what the game's running with if they're going to have a tie-in of course but that's definitely confusing. :)

How fortunate that the two companies love the name unleashed so much - the Force Unleashed Unleashed Battle Packs give us twice the bang for our buck.

Just caught this--a little more background on the game itself:
Next Star Wars game details Unleashed:
The latest issue of Game Informer brought forth information on the latest Star Wars game. Titled Star Wars: Force Unleashed, it is set to help bridge the 19 year gap between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. You get to play as Darth Vader's apprentice, as he wants to overthrow the Emperor and rule the galaxy with you at his side. At the same time, there is a galaxy wide hunt to exterminate the remaining Jedi from existence. Force Unleashed also boasts LucasArts' Eurphoria engine, capable of real-time environmental damage. For instance, when using Force powers on steel, it will dent appropriately. Another example includes a tree either splintering or breaking in two, dependent on the type of impact.
You may be concerned that given the title is taking place between the two trilogies that your actions aren't going to have a huge impact, as the events are set in stone. That's not the case, as LucasArts is saying that there will be multiple endings that can really shake up the Star Wars Universe. At least you have a shot of taking down Palpatine before the first Death Star is fully operational. Does this pique your interest, or does any (finished) Star Wars game without the word "Knights" and "Republic" in the title get ignored?
-
Okay, now I understand a bit more about the origin of the Unleashed name as it is applied here. FU is EU, essentially, which is A-OK.
I do so love the FU acronym on so many levels, though, so I think I'll be using that one.
-

Well, that's positively innuendo-laden! The word unleashed as it applies to the game is really one of the only appropriate words I can find to describe what you see in the game, and I tend to be a wordy bastard. ;D Check out the game demo (http://www.techeblog.com/index.php/tech-gadget/first-look-star-wars-force-unleashed) and you start to get a feel for what we're in store for. Because the Force is in play in ways that we've never seen before in this game. The force powers that we saw in the prequels do not compare with the force powers you'll see in the demo.

Excellant, the answer just to the question I was going to ask. I was a little confused to when exactly the time frame was. I was a bit confused. Being that for the Vader figure they used Sebastian Shaw head, it seems to me anyway, rather then Hayden Christiansen's head like the one from the Comm. Tin. So the stormie/clone whatever is the armor they're wearing considered Phase 3 armor. Or are these guys supposed to be some sort of specialized guys like the Rep. Commando or something.
-
Sounds like "The Force Unleashed" video game may be delayed until Spring of 2008 (article/link on RS). Not sure what that will do to the figure wave, but you would think they would hold it until then as well, to capitalize on things. They'll probably fill it in with a repaint wave ;).
-
They'll probably fill it in with a repaint wave ;).
Yeah, I've been itchin' for a Wal-Mart Exclusive POTF2 Lobot, Royal Guard and Prince Xizor
;D
-
An interesting Dilemna for the Big H on this one.......do you delay their release by a year to get the full marketing Giant behind it? Also, it is not like it will be a whole year behind, it is just shifted one quarter...now that being said it is shifting from Pre-Christmas to Post Christmas not the best shift, but as far as Wave Juggling I would figure they will just push this wave back in the rotation and move up another hopefully.
But I could see a "new" and improved Re-paint wave in it's place.....
-
The question would be then, at least I'd think, whether or not the game is the "flagship" of the multi-media blitz. Is everything centered on the game, or do the book/comics hold enough weight that you think the toy subline is going to be ok?
Personally I think the video game would have been the thing that was catching the most attention immediately, and thus you'd want the subline released with it, but pushing a figure line back a year is no small thing for Hasbro... I bet someone's pissed in Pawtucket tonight.
They could try filling that timeframe's void with repacks... I'm sure there will be figures, come that point in time, that people haven't had enough of from 2007's line. Interesting situation. Should make for good questions for the Q&A next time around. I'm kinda bummed it's not as frequent as it had been because it'd be nice to ask tomorrow what they'll be planning on doing with the FU line.
-
The only figure I'd miss from a delay is the female Imperial officer and I'm all for delay for ease on the wallet.
-
This is unfortunate, but I don't mind the wait if they want to link up the figure release with that of the game. If they went ahead with the original release date of the figures then I think that might hurt some of the cross promotional appeal. Sales of the figures will probably be better if the game is out on the market. It's too bad, because I'm looking forward to these figures. But if they need to delay it all in order to get the game right, then that's what they need to do.
-
Well I actually want that Vader and the troopers. Oh well. There is plenty to buy this year.
-
Yeah, if the wave is delayed until the game release, that wouldn't really bother me either. I could understand why they would wait, and like it was mentioned, there is plenty to buy this year the way it is. Like it was said earlier, they could just shift another wave forward into that slot - or maybe just remix some of the tougher to find figures for the year.
-
I would agree with the others who have said that the rest of the stuff is probably delayed now too... it makes no sense to have a huge marketing push this Fall to support something that won't be out for 3-6 months. ::)
I just wonder how many folks at LucasArts are going to get canned over this one...
LFL was planning out a whole multi-media blitz around the video game, hyping the game and the marketing blitz (books, comics, toys) at SW.com and in the media and then the game is late? Ooops! :-X
-
I am a jedi collector and I will Buy Maris Brood and The Samurai Jedi for sure. Might look in to that Royal Guard. Hope they make Vaders Apprentice.
-
I'm still hyped up for the game and figures.
-
I'm curious if the FU figures will retain the same shaped card, but with all new colors and graphics...and if the cards will change again in the Fall with The Clone Wars.
-
Hasbro has indicated in the Q&As that the TFU figures will be on the 30AC style/shaped card and that they would not make a packaging change until the Clone Wars Cartoon stuff...
Hasbro:
"The TAC line look will "carry over" at retail through Spring 2008 to make the look an 18 month segment. We will not make a substantial package change until the Fall when Clone Wars debuts."
-
i would buy maris brood, looks good, and maybe the female officer
-
shadow guard and juno minus accessories
(http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x161/gorkoracing3/shadowguardnjunoeclipse.jpg)
-
Well the only ones that dont interest me are the Skittles Stormtrooper and Damaged Darth Vader, the rest are mine.
-

Hopefully the skittlestrooper is not part of this wave.
-
:D
-
FYI - LT. Shan & that Imperial Female officer are the exact same figure with different paint/mold colors including the heads. The rest was known but not he heads, would have liked different heads at least. I bought both off ebay and was surprised they did not change the heads. Nice figures though.
-
Yeah but Jack it should be an easy job to put a different blonde on the Ball Joint, I know what your saying that you shouldnt have to, but you know Hasbro if they can use the same head they will.
I would have like to have seen a diferent version of Lt Shan released the one were she has the black jumpsuit one looks sweet, saying that I dont know much about the character other than shes a rebel spy I think, this could be wrong as well, like I said I know litterally squat about this character.
-
Let me know if anyone wants any other pics

I'd like an upskirt shot please ;D
-
They're wearing pants... perv. ::)
On another note, that pic really shows off how disappointing it is that Shan and Juno have basically the exact same head. :-\
-
It's regulation Imperial female haircut, so clearly they should look alike...
or Hasbro just sucks, which is more the truth I think.
-
Yup like jack said above they are the same body and headsculpt just different paintjobs. They also cant stand up with their feet straight. the foot wont bent far enough so they have to stand with their feet pointed out like pictured. I'll try to get a pic of how rediculous it is tomorrw
-
I'd like an upskirt shot please ;D
lol here you go jay. spent wayyy more time than was necessary taking this pic but had to get it looking just right ;D
(http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x161/gorkoracing3/DSC02385.jpg)
-
I don't know why, but she looks so much better in black.
-
I would have preferred a nice Admiral Daala figure then her.
-
Gorko, nice pic. I like how you've got "perv" and the eyeroll framed between her legs like that. ;D
Evenflow, I am certain we'll get a Daala figure based on this body sooner or later, probably sooner. Likely even a Ysanne Isard too.
-
Let me know if anyone wants any other pics
First off, where did you get the figures? That Shadow Guard kicks so much ass it's unreal! Second, is the helmet removable like the Crimson Empire guards? If so, what does the head underneath look like?
-
It's the ROTS version not the comic pack so the helmet does not come off. You can find these on ebay easy enough, they sell out but come back pretty quickly. There are always missing the weapons/gear so they are incomplete.
-

Nice...it's too bad they don't have removable helmets, but that's about the only bad thing about them LOL! I can't wait for the Legacy Comic pack with the Imperial Knights though...
Royal Guards, Shadow Guards, Senate Guards....all equal kickass! ;D
-
Hereeeees carded
(http://www.potf2.com/files/aaron/Copy%20of%20unlforccard.jpg)
Thanks to potf2.com!
-
Character art is beautiful as with the majority of the TAC cards, but I just wished they would have changed things up with the with the style of the card besides that little Unleashed stamp. The figures look great, but it looks like they have a bit to much room inside those huge bubbles.
-

Is that a whip with General Kota?

Agreed. I was hoping for soemthing in the same vein as the McQuarrie Figures. The light blue on those really makes them standout. I would have liked to have seen a smilimilar effect with the dark blue/purple that is inside the FU logo.
Is that a whip with General Kota?
That's just what I was thinking Nate. Perhaps it is one of the same ones from the IJ line?
-
Those look awesome carded.
-
It's about time we start seeing another '08 wave carded.
-
Is it just me or does Brood look like she's at a club dancing? :)
-
I'm not keen on her having Tonfa Lightsabers.
-
I'm thinking Kota is my favorite of all of these. He just has such a cool design and I love his armor. Count me in for 5-6 of these for customs. Wheeeee!
-
I know Chewie this wave has alot of potential for customs. I may have to order a couple of cases just for that purpose.
-
^ Yeah, that's what I like so much about Wave 5 this year, so many customizing possibilities... I haven't gotten too many customs done from that wave yet, but I bought several extras for that purpose.
Definitely though I agree, the whole FU stuff has me excited for all the customizing possibilities. :)

Is it just me or does Brood look like she's at a club dancing? :)
Her sabers are actually glowsticks.

Kota actually reminds me of Dengar, had he been a Jedi in the way he looks.

As far as the card art goes is it just me or is that some undercleavage goin' on ;)
-
The Shadow Guard is the only one that really interests me. I plan on picking them all up but not too impressed with the packaged pics.
-
maris brood looks very interesting, i'll buy her, the packaging is cool, too
-
EE has these up for preorder however pegwarmers are included in this case. You think Hasbro would just send out Force Unleashed figures at that time due to the hold back.
http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=HS87500L
1x Imperial Evo Trooper (#0809),
1x Imperial Jumptrooper (#0810),
1x Maris Brood (#0811),
1x Battle-Damaged Darth Vader (#0812),
1x Rahm Kota (#0813),
1x Emperor's Shadow Guard (#0814),
1x Juno Eclipse (#0815),
1x Biggs Darklighter (X-Wing Pilot, #3014),
1x C-3PO with Salacious Crumb (#3030),
1x Spirit of Anakin Skywalker (#3045),
1x Clone Trooper (7th Legion, #3049),
1x Jango Fett with Poncho (#3057).
-
I am quite puzzled by this case pack-out. I would have thought that they could have put together a case like this:
2x Imperial Evo Trooper (#0809)
2x Imperial Jumptrooper (#0810)
1x Maris Brood (#0811)
2x Battle-Damaged Darth Vader (#0812)
1x Rahm Kota (#0813)
2x Emperor's Shadow Guard (#0814)
2x Juno Eclipse (#0815)
This would have made A LOT more sense. Vader is always popular. Collectors are going to want multiples of the troopers, shadow guard and Juno. The unique Jedi being 1-per-case would help them sell well which seems to be a slight challenge for Jedi that were not in the movies.
I'm hoping that there will be a revision wave that is more in line with the counts I have listed above.
-
I agree... not liking that case ratio one bit.
-
Ouch! That case ratio hurts, it almost makes me thinl twice on the preorder. any early 2007 figure should be put to rest. Wave 7.5 & 8 I can see.
On a separate note, I want to know when NFC is going to have Wave 1 & Wave 2 of 2008 up for pre-order. They are behind and I am ready to order these despite the crappy case ratio.
-
its like they are trying to rerelease every 07 figure again next year only now with a coin :-\ this is gonna be hell trying to finish a set now with the 07 figures pegwarming
-
Well this news of the case assortment has saved me some money.
I really think these figs are going to be EASY to find. I'm certainly not mad troop building on these. Maybe 5 for the troopers, but no more. One each of Maris, Kota and BD Vader, and perhaps a few Junos (extras for customs). But that's it. Not worth it to get a case of them, when at least a third of the assortment are figures I won't want.
-
I preordered two cases of Wave 1 from www.dnstoys.com... don't think I'll do the same for Force Unleashed with this ratio... I hate it.

I hear you. It would only be good if you made a whole bunch of customs. Hey wait a sec!

Good point. Maybe that will convince me to go ahead and preorder... but I'm not sure... I've got a lot less customizing time these days.

I just got my Juno Eclipse figure from a supplier in Hong Kong. I noticed her gloves are not fully painted. The back of her hands is skin colored. Does anyone know if this intentional or just a painting mistake?
-
Well, it might be the type of glove she wheres in the video game. A glove with an open back would kind of make sense to me, as I believe Juno is a shuttle pilot so she probably wouldn't want her hands to get overly hot when she is flying. She would also not want her hands to get too sweaty and stinky if she wants to become "friends" with that Secret Apprentice character.
As for the figure, Hasbro probably did not want to sculpt detailed gloves, so they just painted the flesh color on like the wounds on the 2006 TSC Padme Amidala figure.
EDIT: Yup, I think the gloves should have an open skin part:

Too bad she didn't end up looking like your picture. It's a much more interesting figure.

Yes, but then Hasbro couldn't re-use the body for other Generic Female Imperial Officers.
;D
-
Why not? Why couldn't all female officers look like that? ;)
-

;D
Well, that costume would give Juno a "unique" side! And all Hasbro has to do is change the torso and use it for generic Imperial Hotties ;)
-
Maybe old Palpatine wanted Clone females?! :-\ :) Juno reminds me way to much of Dr. Elsa Schneider from Indiana Jones III.
Not too keen on all these blond skinny females running around as IMP officers, makes the Empire look ridiculous and loose its sinister feel.

Haven't we lost it a long time, Coloured Stormies, oversized robots (DT / ST), Vongs and much more... EU Empire is so different from Movie Empire... OH! And Rebellions acting to be Empires for SO LONG!... The Empire isn't even threatening anymore...
Their Secret Weapon "Death Star" has been seen by HOW MANY Rebel Spies? ::)
-
Yeah, your probably right. I kinda only except Jedi Knight and Dark Empire as partve the extended OT. Least they pretty much retained the old feel with a more modern extended touch.
-
Yep, guess we're gonna need the revision cases to find them all.
-
For those folks out there that use NewForce (like me), they are finally taking pre-orders for 2008 Wave 1 and 2008 Wave 2. :)
-
Thanks for the update on New Force Jeff. I put in for a case of the first two waves and the Wave 2 Evo case.
-
For those who want the Force Unleashed case but don't want the pegwarmers, BBTS has an "internet only" case up for pre order that has this breakdown:
'Assortment includes two each of Kashyyyk Trooper, Evo Stormtrooper, Imperial Jump Trooper, and Shadow Guard, with one each of Darth Vader, Rahm Kota, Maris Brood and Juno Eclipse.'
Check it out here. (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=HAS14824&mode=retail)

Damn, sold out already!
I was going to order that too...
:(
I'll have to keep checking back on that one. That is an excedllent assortment. Now if the retail case would have come like this...
-
It's a preorder it's not sold out.
-
I just read The Force unleased game may be delayed again pushing the release date back into late August. I wonder what that will do to the toy line again. will the Big H do a bif shuffle again and hold them off until August.
-
I don't get too worked up over things that are out of my control anymore (outside of playsets), but the whole Force Unleashed delay scenarios are getting lame. I want the game to be awesome, but how many delays do there have to be for this thing to finally launch? Already it's going to be almost a year late... and what pisses me off more than anything, is that I bought my XBOX 360 almost a year ago just for this game...
So, the question that I guess most of us have, like you said ctonra, is what does this mean for the figures? Are they being delayed too? Hopefully with the Clone Wars stuff all scheduled for the Fall, Hasbro will go ahead and release the figures "on schedule" this time, also taking into account that the lightsabers and mini Unleashed figures are already hitting.
But again, this whole thing is getting frustrating. When I first saw pics of these figures, I was very excited. But all these delays are starting to take away from the anticipation.
-
My preorder on the game still says April so until that gets changed I'm not worried.
-
It will be interesting to see if this is indeed delayed again. I guess it doesn't much matter to me right now, since I can't afford a next-gen system at the moment, but it is disappointing overall. We'll have to see what happens to the figures/products if this is true. Its not too far off now, so you would think they might be too far along in the "pipeline" that they would have to come out at the normal time. It certainly would be too late to replace them I would think, unless Hasbro knew about this further in advance (again, if true). I guess a little break wouldn't be so bad, since this year is going to be expensive enough the way it is. I still haven't decided how much TFU stuff I will be picking up. I have to cut back somewhere this year, and this might be a good area. I'll like pick up the troops (Evo/Jump) and the Vader and Royal Guards, but we'll see beyond that. Those "fit in" well enough with the rest of the Star Wars world :).
-
I not upset about the game delay much, I've been itching to play it on the Wii. I think that unless Hasbro had some kind of advanced notice or backup plan in place incase the happen the basic stuff will probably stay on schedule any store exclusives will get delayed until game release. When it comes it comes. If it doesn't less I have to spend.
-
Sounds like the delay has been confirmed by Lucas Licensing, with a new date of Aug. 26, according to WIZARD (http://www.wizarduniverse.com/magazine/wizard/007272436.cfm). I wonder if anyone will ask about this in the next Q and A? ;)
-
(http://www.yakface.com/2008/TFDlogo.jpg) ::)
:P
-
I get less and less excited with each delay, with both the game and the figures.
-
This is exactly why toy companies don't want to tie into video games. The gaming buisness is very unpredictable, and games can get delayed months or years at a time. Hollywood movies stay on tight schedules for release, so it's easy for toy companies to coordinate their business.
These delays could totally screw up the whole year for Lucasfilm. TFU was supposed to happen in the spring, an Clone Wars in the fall, now they'll both (maybe) be hitting at the same time, causing a glut.
-
Thats why they should've had the games tie into the Toys(comics). ;)
-
Thats why they should've had the games tie into the Toys(comics). ;)
Agreed, when the game was looking like it was going to be delayed, they should have taken the approach that The Force Unleashed story was a Novel and a comic and a series of Toys that would also be backed up by a next-gen console game.
If you all recall, the SOTE promotion was a Book First, Comic Second, Toys Third and oh yeak, there's a Nintento 64 game too.
If I were to guess as to why the game is delayed, it probably has to do with that interactive physics/AI engine they built. I can't think of the name of it right now.
-
Game delay is incredibly common in the gaming industry. I'm a little surprised Habsro didn't make more well thought out contingency plans.
-
Well, I think LucasArts is committed to an '08 release for the game. They have two licensees that are ready to ship related product now. LEGO already has the Rogue Shadow ship out on shelves.
If this delay is tied in with a platform specific delay, then that's a real head scratcher. Sure, the Wii would be a very cool platform to play this title on, especially with the dynamics of the controller and it's possible use for a lightsaber. But I think there are more people who own the PS-3 and X-BOX 360 who are just as eager to get the game. Release the Wii version when it's ready, but get this game to market already.
-
Usually game delays, means a lousy product. Well, wait and see how things turn.
-
Is this game even real? Or is it just something to get out hopes crushed? ::)
-

And Hasbro has already released the unleashed battle packs, as well as the lightsabers. Not to mention the Wizardsf of the Coast minis.

I agree, if it's due to Wii or whatever, they should just get the game out on schedule and the individual platform that is the holdup will just have to wait.
-
I don't get the additional hold up. First time was so far away that I think they made the right call, but people already know the lineup and have seen the figs - time to just get them out. If anything, I think the figs could help build up demand for the game during the delay.
-
I've heard some scoop from people in the know...its pretty much one big cluster****
-
Really? Then it's no surprise that it was delayed from last year. But this delay is somewhat offputting.
But I guess you have to expect this to an extent when you're trying to launch these kinds of multi-media campaigns. I remember last year at Toy Fair we were shown a preview of the Transformers video game, and that looked like it was nowhere near ready to go. And that was in February, and they still had to get that game out in time for the movie release in July.
-
Is it a mess at Lucas Arts, Hasbro or both?
-
LucasArts
-
Yeah, Lucasarts seems like the culprit here... of course, I don't have any information from people 'in the know' but from what I've observed, it doesn't seem to be a mess with anyone else. If anything, I don't see what Hasbro could be blamed for at all on this... making an entire wave at once though with additional tie-ins can be risky, but I think it's outstanding that they committed as much to this effort as they have.
-
Being a Wii owner I wouldn't mind if they released it on the other platforms first and then on the Wii once they got it corrected. I would hate for it to be one system holding everything up just so they get to release it all at once for everyone. If that is the case GL "cough cough" Blueray/Hi-Def Star wars "cough" Extended remasters Semi-final Directer's cut Please
-
I hope the Rancor set does not get delayed, I feel like this game is old news now and it has not been released. I think the very angry PC gamers sabotaged the game because they are stiffing PC gamers on this game. It really should come out for PC's. I just got a new Alienware 51 with the new physics processor in hopes of playing game like that. Oh well......
-
I want the Rancor too... maybe as much as any of the figures.
-
It looks like the basic line will release on time but all the exclusives will wait if and when the game gets released :'(
-
I feel like this game is old news now and it has not been released.
That's what I'm thinking, too. After all the hype on the official site touting the game as "THE big SW event for 2007" and then having it delayed into another year (and now apparently delayed another 4-6 months on top of that), not to mention the lack of PC support, the rescheduling of the actual tie-in merchandise, and the fact that the merchandise is going to be on-shelf at least seven months prior to the game's (planned) release? I have a feeling that a lot of people who only peripherally cared about the game don't care at all now, and the more delays that happen, the larger chance that "The Force Unleashed" becomes the Star Wars equivalent of "Duke Nukem Forever."
I have a feeling that there are going to be a LOT of pegwarming TFU figures in the next three months or so, particularly Night Stick Jedi Chick, Old Jedi Guy, and the Black ERG. The 2" Unleashed figures, which new sets from routinely sell out within a day around here, from TFU are still sitting at the local WM more than four days later, while the repacks (Battle Droid Factory and the Mygeeto Clone Battalion) are long gone. Target's already got several boxes of the miniatures sitting around, and everyone now has a mountain of those TFU lightsabers with the spikes and the Astro-Pop blade.
Hasbro would do well to do one or two shipments of the TFU stuff and then retire them until the fall (or whenever the game actually hits) so the gamers might actually buy them. Otherwise, I feel like TFU is going to be reminiscent of the SOTE fiasco back in 1996: New characters that nobody wanted, a forced and subpar story, an overhyped video game, and a lot of unsold products.
-
TFU should be renamed from "The Force Unleashed" to "The Force Unraveled."
-
If the TFU stuff is pegwarming, that's actually going to make my life easier - I already think I want at least 3-4 of each figure for custom fodder, not to mention 6-7 of the Stormies.
-
TFU should be renamed from "The Force Unleashed" to "The Force Unraveled."
Or maybe "The Force Unreleased"...heh heh.

Picked up a Jumptrooper yesterday at a toy show here in town for a fair price. Couldn't resist. Just wanted to say that it's one awesome figure! The only thing keeping it from perfection is the fact that he doesn't have a ball-jointed waist. Anyway, here's a pic.
-
Congrats on scoring it early... I'd overpay some for this to have it early. It looks great!
-
He looks cool FG...
For the curious about the new designs, they seem very planet-specific. The one guy I know is pictured on a pretty inhospitable planet, so I'm much more accepting of the new designs than the repainted Stormtroopers from this series of figures. It is sort of a shame really that there's only two new designs actually, as I think they're pretty neat.
-
I agree completely Jesse. These new armor designs look fantastic. It's the repaints of the basic Stormies that seems stupid.
-

Exactly my thoughts as well. Emphasis on stupid. ;)
-
Sweet Jumper - thanks for posting! I was not impressed with the fig initially, but its growing on me.
-
so i guess thats what a phase 3 armor cody would look like. the figure looks great though. can't wait to build a squad of him.
-
I agree. I don't know why I like this figure and the EVA one so much more than the stormtrooper repaints.
-
What I like about them is that they are finally using the mouth part of the helmets for something functional. The hoses LOOK like they should fit there.
I'm very much looking forward to building a squad of these. Had I still been in my big army building days I would have bought at least 20 of them. I'm cutting back, plus I'm not giving as much credit to TFU for being canon, so I don't typically build troops up because of that. (Though I did go a little nuts on the Mace clones-hard to pass up battle packs for $10 when you get 4 clones in them...)
-
I agree. I don't know why I like this figure and the EVA one so much more than the stormtrooper repaints.
Maybe like me and others, stormtroopers were always seen as WHITE. So to fool with them and color them is nigh onto sacriledge. Even Sandtroopers were white (if dirty from the sand and not including the paulrons).
The Jump and EVO troopers are nearly all white as well with a smidge of grey on them. So they feel closer to OT. The painted stormies just feel like a cash grab and I think THAT is what is putting off a lot of collectors to the repaints.

I just got charged for my Wave 2 case from New Force so these should be shipping to stores anytime now.
-
Wow, Target really is behind.
-
I almost ordered that case from NF, but with the extras (repacks) I decided to pass...
-
Wow, Target really is behind.
Same with TRU for some reason.

Time to check out Walmart more. ;)

Time to check out Walmart more. ;)
I have been and I'm getting sick and tired of it. Damned filthy store! >:(
-
One store in my area is pretty dingy... it's ridiculous how packed that the store is. Most in my area are pretty well kept though, and probably 90% of my collection since 1995 has been bought at Walmart because I rarely find new waves at TRU or Target.

I suppose it just matters what part of the country you're living in. I used to live in Vegas and overall their stores were very well kept/well stocked and mostly clean. Out here in the Twin Cities is a different story. The majority of the stores are filthy/rarely stocked and have lame employees. Another thing that pisses me off about our WM's is that we rarely ever see their exclusives out here and that's just about the only time that I'll even bother to step foot in one of their stores. Completely different story with Target though. :)
-
Target's not bad around here, one store in particular was very run down before they tore it down and built a new one about two years ago - it made Kmarts look good! They're probably not as clean/nice as the ones in MN though due to their headquarters being up that way. Overall though the Targets around here are nice stores, except for the ones in the city. Those seem to be more of a mess.
Out here in my neck of the woods several of the Walmarts are new supercenters and are sparkly clean with huge Star Wars sections, and quite often they have a center aisle display with additional Star Wars product. But there is one kind of in the city that is disgusting - it's pretty far from where I live so I've only been there a couple times.

I have been ordering from NFC since TAC wave 3. I have ordered 9 cases, Battlefront set 7 the new Evolutions case. I have not been disappointed once by them. I dropped D&S because they raped me on shipping when they combined and did not refund my money.
This is the first I heard of any complaints on NFC's. They rock in my book!
-
Found W2 today at Walmart. Only had Im Jumper and Kota..some dude had Marris in his hand. >:(

Damn, and I haven't seen the FIRST wave yet at retail.
Thank goodness they are up on HTS (first wave).
Well, with the four month layoff of carded figures, these two waves should be easy to find.
-
wow...wave 7.5 JUST hit in my area (i still havent found them yet though) and you guys are getting wave 2 now!?!?! man i hate hasbro canada..heck they are sending us wave 7.5 but forgot about waves 6 and 7.
-
A seller on Amazon has a few of Wave 2 (minus the troopers) for 7.99.
-
I dropped D&S because they raped me on shipping when they combined and did not refund my money.
That sucks, sorry to hear. I've never had anything but good transactions with them. Did you talk to Dave about it (the owner)?

I did and Dave kept saying he would give me a refund, he never did. When you order from them do not pay in advance that's where I ran into trouble. I used paypal and placed several orders and was charged for shipping every time when stuff shipped together. I use to give him a boatload of business, he was not a bad guy but after I did not get my refund after asking several times I moved on to NFC.

Got my TFU case from NewForce today, so now I'm officially finished with the 30AC basic figure collection! :)
Bring on the Legacy/Droid Factory stuff! (only 5 months of waiting... :P)
-
Found more of this wave at WM's ( so cal area) today. Picked up Brood, Evo&Jumper troopers and Juno.
-
I cracked open my first case of TFU. The case ratio sucks because you get 5 figures that are useless(Biggs,Ani spirit, C3P0, Jango and the Wonder Bread Clone) WTF???? They should have doubled up on the two Stormies and Shadow Guard.
Here is my review breakdown:
Imperial EVO Trooper - A very cool Stormtrooper but he cannot hold the rifle well but still a great figure.
Imperial Jump Trooper - Another very cool Stormtrooper but the file talks about a jetpack which is not included.
Maris Brood - Disappointed in this figure. Very limited articulation kills her. Still an ok figure
Darth Vader (Battle Damage) - A cool version of Vader. Different enough to warrant getting, nice sculpt.
General Rahm Kota - Very cool figure, in fact he is my favorite of this wave!
Shadow Guard - Egh!! Cool saber staff but just a Black Royal Guard at the end of the day
Juno Eclipse - Nice but I am bored of this figure as I owned her for the last 4 months.
Overall TFU wave does not live up to the delayed release. I would even go as far to say that it's a fizzle finish to TAC. Rahm and Vader saved this wave for me. I am sorry I ordered 2 cases of this set. Keep an eye on my trade list.......
-
I got Rahm Kota and the Imperial Evo Trooper. Both are very cool. Can't wait to see the Jump Trooper when I get my case.
-
I'm glad I didnn't order a case. I didn't want the first case assortment because of those previous figures.
I'm holding out for the Internet exclusive case assortment.
I that you get:
2 EVO troopers
2 Jump troopers
2 Shadow Guard
1 Rahm Kota
1 Battle Damaged Vader
1 Maris Brood
1 Juno Eclipse
and...2 Kashyyyk troopers
THAT is an excellent case assortment, at least to me.
I'll be ordering at least 2 if not 3 of that case. With that assortment, I'll only have a few extras to trade/sell-Shadow guards, BD Vader. The rest I'm keeping. So even if I got stuck with the other figs, the money I'm saving from buying them as cases, makes up for it.
-
I ordered two of that case.
-
I still have not seen any of these at all I been running every morning to target toys and wally and nothing but peg warmers for the last month.
Still haven't found the new ships evo packs nothing
zip
the only thing I found since wave 1 (still missing Gree and Vader) score have been the new pit droids in all three flavors.
I am so tempted to army build the C-3PO with battle droid head. with a fleet of rainbow jedi fighters.
JACKOFTRADZE, I will be watching your trade list I could hook you up with the ultra rare battle droid 3PO, heck i can even get you it on three differnt card variations at retail no less. Or are you willing to sell your extras?? email me.
-
You're lucky to have found wave 1. I still haven't seen any 2008 product in stores yet.
I only got my Evolutions set from buying a case online. The Unleashed battle packs my fiancee found and bought for me.
But as yet, I still haven't seen any stuff.
Waiting for the AT-AP to hit as well.
-
I found this wave last night at a walmart in greensboro NC. they had one each of all 7 figs. Picked up the two troopers for myself and a vader for a friend. haven't opend the troopers yet but it was still cool too to see them on the shelves! ;D
-
Hit the new figure mojo last night as well. Wal-Marts here in Kansas City got them in. I snagged a set of each and I have to say that they look pretty good.

I am an opener but check my trade list I have a lot of updates. I will resume trading on 2/4 so send me PM's. First come first serve.

I found these at the local WM on the way into work this morning. I grabbed one each of the EVO Trooper, the Jumptrooper, the BD Vader, and Samurai Jedi (cue Belushi gong ;) ) and I'm overall pretty impressed. The Vader is really impressive, and Kota is one of the best random Jedi figures I could hope for. I'm not quite sure of the point of the "lit saber scabbard" on his back, but it isn't enough to get all flustered about either. :)

Didn't realize Maris Brood didn't have knee articulation till I opened the figure. Kinda disappointing. Ankle but no knee. Looks like I'm gonna have to customize her.
-
These haven't reached NYC yet, at least not anywhere I've found. Tried Forbidden Planet tonight, Target and my local comic store over the weekend. They're going for crazy prices on ebay, alas... :-\
-

Agreed... I have no clue why Hasbro does that. What possible good does the ankle joint serve on a figure who has no knee articulation. It really doesn't improve the way you can pose her. If anything positive, it helps her stand better if there is a problem there, but really, shouldn't we expect figures that can stand by themselves from Hasbro? So the ankle joint is really very unnecessary.
No matter how you bring it up to them though, they seemingly blow the subject off... I can't imagine that it's that they just don't "get it", but maybe that's the case. It's always a disappointment though when you see a figure lacking knees like that, especially a clearly "action-oriented" figure like Marris Brood.

Well she should at least make for good Outlander patron customs. All they do is stand around anyway... lol
-
No knee articulation? ::)
Guess she's going to need a leg swap.

Hasbro has said in the Q&As that "to help figures stand" is indeed the main reason for ankle articulation on figures with no knee articulation:
"Knees will allow a leg to bend and can make for some nice poses but without the ankle, it is hard to get a figure to stand. Ankles let you move either leg forward or back, and the figures stand much better."
Yes, you should expect figures that can stand by themselves from Hasbro, but the reality is that sometimes due to the molding process or warping or packaging, that isn't always the case. They know that, so the ankle joints are there to help the figures stand so that the average joe-shmoe doesn't have to boil-and-freeze figures to fix them.
Maybe it seems stupid to you, but there have been many times when I was glad that extra ankle joint was there to get my figures to stand up...
-
Saw Juno Eclipse and Vader in a store this morning. They look alright. I left them behind though, since I've got a deal pending for the entire wave minus the Shadow Guard.
-
To each their own I guess... Personally, I don't see why Brood would need the ankle joints... Or many other figures. For instance, why does the Neimoidian Soldier have the ankles over the knees? Is Hasbro saying that the NW figure was unable to stand because of the mold process or some such?
That doesn't make much sense to me... Which figures with ankle joints only, really had that "problem"? I could see Sun Fac maybe...
But seriously, Commander Bacara couldn't stand? All those other Clones could but not Bacara?
Can't say that answer makes much sense to me. I will say that if it was on more figures that couldn't stand, I'd agree that it makes a lot of sense... I wish that female alien separatist character (from the Sep. Council sets) had ankle joints because mine both fall over. That's more the plastic I guess, but some ankles would probably alleviate the problem a bit, if she (or the repaint of her) had them. The figures like Luke from the comic pack and things though, all seem like they'd stand fine without ankle joints to me.
BTW I didn't mention the boil & freeze technique, but it only works for re-posing figures really... If a figure's limb or weapon or something is warped, you can boil it to go back to its original shape, but the freeze doesn't hold something too thin to stand under its own weight or anything.
-
Is Hasbro saying that the NW figure was unable to stand because of the mold process or some such?
They are not saying that they "know" certain figures will have problems. What they were saying is that it is a problem that sometimes unpredictably happens here or there. In their opinion, the articulated ankles help the problem if in fact it does happen. That's all.
Articulated knees would seem help the problem just as well as ankles, but obviously, for whatever reason, Hasbro thinks otherwise...
Can't say that answer makes much sense to me.
I never claimed it made sense. When has Hasbro EVER supplied an answer to an articulation question that made sense to you? :P
-
No argument there... :)
Ironically there's been times where Hasbro's not included ankles where it clearly was needed... Cody and training fatigues Clone come to mind immediately. I can't get either of those friggin' things to stand up without a stand or me having to "adjust". And I don't even know an adjustment will work on the fatigues Clone... That's a pretty drastic bend in his ankle there.
It worked on Cody pretty well (that's where a boil & freeze worked wonders), but I've not even tried that new clone yet.
Still not my cup of tea but I see what you're saying Jeff. I just don't agree with where they're coming from, at least not entirely. I do think it worked well on Sun Fac though because he sorta wilts a bit, but his ankle joints help you get him standing up properly. That separatist chick is a prime one for ankles, but didn't get them. I've brainstormed for a while now, how I could go about somehow sturdying up the legs with a thin metal rod or something, put into a hole drilled in her legs or some such. A lot of work to get one figure to stand, but I like the figure for what it is,a nd just wanted it to stand right.
-
For me the most egregious example of needing ankles (and more articulation across the board, but that's another post) is the Legends Imperial Officer. Dude has his lean on, you know?
-
Agreed, the Imperial Officer could really use an update.
-
It's weird, but that figure originally was fine (for standing up that is), but the Legends version does lean forward a bit, or I've found some of the figures have their feet pointing outwards a bit more than the early releases of that figure. Very strange.
-

If there ever was a candidate for a modern resculpt, it's the Imp. Officer. I was photographing one today and it took forever due to his ****** leg stance.
They could do black for the officers and gray variants for the scanning crew/SD personnel dudes.
What are these guys called anyway? They've got headgear/earpieces too.
-
I always called them tech officers, but that's me.
-
The guys in black jumpsuits seemingly didn't get a ton of screentime... Not compared to the grey guys anyway. In ANH the black jumpsuited guys were manning gun turrets (the crew that were aiming at the escape pod are wearing jumpsuits).
The guys on the bridge of Destroyers wear long-brimmed Imperial kepi's that are grey. (A Piett hat for instance), with a light grey jumpsuit like the scanner techs wear. Their hat, being different, seems to indicate some kind of difference in their station/job however.
The scanner tech guys wear shorter-brimmed black Imperial hats. Why the hat difference? Who knows. My guess would be the black hat indicates though that those guys have a different job, while all the bridge crews in the grey jumpsuits with the darker grey hats are perhaps petty officers, learning the ropes to become junior grade lieutenants and things. Maybe the hat is what you get upon promotion out of the ranks of the lowly technicians.
The black hats then perhaps are the lowest ranking naval personnel, the grey hats are the next step up, then its onto an Imperial Tunic/trousers as your uniform.
Imperial "Army" though, also wear the grey jumpsuit... AT-ST Drivers are supposedly actually just Imperial Army Troopers, and they too have the nifty simple grey onesie.
I agree, the officer could stand a resculpt at this point... I'd say it's a very versatile body sculpt that can be used (if done right) for new versions of many different characters. From TIE Pilots to technicians to AT-ST Drivers really. Even Wilrow Hood's outfit is that simple jumpsuit, so perhaps that's Hasbro's plan? New sculpt at some point will just get re-used as much as possible?
-
Found two cases at differnet Walmarts so far of the figures...

Is it just me, or do those things look as cartoony as the new Clone Wars figures?
-
I think they look pretty superb... they're similar to Sandtroopers in that they have the gear for the conditions they're in. I suppose the EVO Trooper's extra-wide mask is because he needs a more powerful breathing apparatus in poisonous/hostile conditions.
-
I think they look awesome and I'm actually thinking about breaking my 10 only limit on these.
-
I've always looked at Sandtroopers as just "Stormtroopers" with their field gear on... I think the notion of them being "specialized" is overrated. EU's sort of adopted the same idea, that the trooper's backpack is modular for putting in the right gear for the right job, and the pauldrons are just used for trooper's out in the field... Not really specized per se.
These guys from Force Unleashed are REALLY sepcialized though... Their uniforms are radically different for whatever reason. The Evo guy (I found a lone one tonight for some odd reason) is really freakish, but the design's cool... The packaging said they're for the most hostile environments, and have been trained to survive on the planets the regulars can't I guess. High lightning/electricity in the atmosphere, acidic stuff... They handle the rough stuff, which I think makes some sense.
I honestly don't think they look too cartoony. They look pretty true to the 3D animation though, but in the same way the Darktrooper looks true to his base character. I think the CW3D figures have an element of realism to them that, if you were to take the heads off and put on realistic ones, you'd see figures that would fit better in your collection than you maybe expected. These guys from Force Unleashed seem like they're really attempts at realistic sculpting but based on their game looks... I'd say closer to the basic line wave of Clone Wars figures, which have that tinge of cartoon but a predominantly realistic look. If that makes sense.
-
I think the skiddles troopers look more cartoony than the Evo and jump trooper.
-
I've always looked at Sandtroopers as just "Stormtroopers" with their field gear on....
I feel the same way

I second (or third) this sentiment. It's one reason I haven't gone crazy army building with Sandies.

New Force has preorders up for the Wave 2 Rev 2 case. It contains: 2x Imperial Evo Trooper, 2x Imperial Jumptrooper, 1x Maris Brood, 1x Battle-Damaged Darth Vader, 1x Rahm Kota, 2x Emperor's Shadow Guard, 1x Juno Eclipse, 2x Kashyyyk Trooper. It's a great deal for those who want more army builders. I ordered a couple of cases.
-
Is it just me, or do those things look as cartoony as the new Clone Wars figures?
They look obviously based off of the "McQ Stormtrooper", which was an awful sculpt and bad figure.
-
So is there really a variation on Maris Brood or do we have another situation here where the figure shown at conventions is a pre-production sample featuring flesh colored skin, but the actual product version of the figure has gray/ashen skin color?
For those of you that have found this figure - what color skin have you found? I have a friend who found this figure last weekend and it is the grayish skin "version".
-
Found two - both have a more grayish skin tone.
Great figure by the way, except for her un-articulated knees.
-
i think mine looks more pink...i could be wrong though.
-
Maybe I need to see a comparison pic, or post mine. I thought it was more grayish, but I could be wrong.
-
I ordered the rev 2 case from New Force Comics awhile back. Today I received my paypal invoice. So I guess that means these should be shipping out pretty soon. ;D
-
Entertainment Earth shipped my wave 2, revision 2 case yesterday. :)
-
So thanks to my local buddy swfinderpa, I'm caught up on Wave 2 and basic junk for 2008 till July I guess. Now onto exclusive crap I can't find! Yay!
Anyway, some thoughts...
-Rahm Kota... Outstanding Jedi freak. Love the battlescars, the topknot, and I think the armor looks cool, as though he pilferred it for added protection due to his "on the lamb" nature. I think his likeness could've matched his image on the cardback a bit more but it's not much for me to gripe about...
What is annoying me though? The fact he's given a bandoleir lightsaber "holster" thing, and no lightsaber hilt to put into it. That is really annoying, and would've been a great feature that Hasbro omitted for no really clear reason I can see.
Figure itself... Outstanding. The softgoods only add to the coolness, the armor's partially removable, and the articulation is outstanding. Paint and sculpting, top notch. One of the better figures of the wave IMO.
-Shadow Guard... He's cool. I think for a repaint, this is pretty slick, and even some anti-EU fans will dig the weapon and the looks of the character. Like an elite of the elite type trooper that are trained in saber fighting. A removable helmet with unique headsculpt would've been nice (ala the Darkhorse 2-pack of guards), and I would also say new hands would've been nice, but as it is, it's a good figure. Removable blade = really good too... Nice to get that on this figure when Kota should've had it as well.
-Marris Brood... Easily the weakest of the bunch, but not TOO bad. The lack of articulated knees is obviously her most glaring flaw. I actually would've liked if Hasbro used the Aayla Secura ROTS figure as a base, made new arms and a new head, and given us that. That would've been ideal to me... Again a cool sculpt and paintjob though, and really neat innovation on the sabers. I expect to see these in the EU again at some point as they're quite unique.
Speaking of the sabers, if I were to design them they'd get shorter blades ala Maul's, but that's me. The blades make them seem less "elegant" or nimble weapons I guess.
Still, a cool figure... Some knees would've made her perfect I think, but the figure's not bad as is, and has a neat sounding backstory to it.
-Jump Trooper/Evo Trooper... Covering them together because, honestly, they're not different enough to warrant separation. They're new funky designs of Clones, and that should make people happy. I like them... Would've liked some decals maybe on the box of the Evo Trooper since it looks like it's to have some kind of button deco ala the AT-AT driver. Good articulation, lots of greeblies added on... Makes for new trooper suit designs, and troopers that ACTUALLY maybe would require additional training for their jobs unlike, say, a "Sandtrooper", or a Trooper donning cold weather gear...
-Battledamaged Vader... Card says something about battling Rebels on the new Death Star. Sounds interesting, or possibly insanely lame. :-\ Regardless, it's a heavily articulated figure and without all the crap put onto it, he looks great. The pieces to fill the missing costume are, to me anyway, worthless. They make him look a little less battle damaged, at best. Not much to write home about, but the figure itself is solid and well sculpted.
-Juno Eclipse... I got her earlier, and she's cool. She'll make a nice army builder, and if you can get additional headsculpts with different hair/skin colors and things, she'll army build ok. Not much to write home about other than I wish I had a male version of this figure because it's sorely lacking in the line.
-FU Evolution set... I know this isn't the right thread, but I have to say while I love the FU wave, the Evo set is the wave's highlight. Without it, the FU figures feel incomplete. If you get one FU item, get that one. It's near perfection... Couple ball/socket elbows and lightsaber hilts away from perfection actually. :)
-
I only have three so far but I had to share my thoughts...
Rahm Kota--An outstanding Jedi figure with plenty of articulation, excellent sculpt (the armor is great), and a neat softgoods cape thing. I agree that his bandolier could've used a lightsaber hilt to go in it though, and it really surprised me when I opened him up and saw that that wasn't included. That's really his only flaw, it's an awesome figure. However, in the summer drought ahead, he's pretty boring next to the other offerings of the two '08 waves, and I think we'll be seeing a lot of Kotas and Kenobis hanging around. One thing this possible pegwarmer's got going for him is that he's terrific custom fodder, so I'm sure I'm gonna be picking up a couple extras for that. A-
Maris Brood--Pretty weak. The wide legs and unarticulated knees really mess up what could've been a really cool figure. The top half is great though. ;D And I always think it's stupid when Hasbro gives a figure foot articulation and no knee articulation. I do like the lightsabers, but I heard from somewhere that they're the wrong color (confirmation?). Overall it's an interesting character that will probably still sell really well, but it would've been nice if Hasbro had put in that tiny extra amount of effort. B-
Juno Eclipse--This figure has everything, super articulation, nice sculpt, army building potential. The only bad thing is seeing her next to her male Saga Legends companions, and being reminded of how much these guys need resculpts. With removable caps, please. A-

Opened an EVO trooper yesterday. I have to agree with other assessments about the helmet, it really kills what could otherwise be a great figure. Too bad they didn't include the mouth grill from the card art.
-
Well it looks like the video game has been delayed until next year. Doesn't this make the line of figures kind of pointless? There is no story behind them except a quick blurb on the card back. Would kids really want to buy these things without a video game to back them up?
-
Well it looks like the video game has been delayed until next year.
Where did you see that - GH? If so, might that be an April Fool's joke?
-
I'm hoping that it's an April Fool's joke...
-
It was on theforce.net.
Though I didn't check the date.
I was so excited for this game...LAST YEAR! When it looked like a spring release I accepted it as something that sometimes happens in the video game industry. Then when it was pushed back to this summer, I just thought it was plain ridiculous. The figures will have been out for 3-4 months by that point. With nothing to back them up, sales of TFU stuff will suffer. Now if the game is indeed backed up to the first quarter of 2009, I'd have to say that I'm no longer excited about the game. I'll get it when it comes out, but I won't be clamoring for it as I once was.
That I know of it's an issue with having it ready for the three major platforms: XBox 360 (which it's supposedly ready for), Wii, which it's nearly ready for, and the PS3 (for which the developers are having the most trouble).
I say bring it out for which ever platforms it's ready for. Maybe Sony will take notice of this and work to make games more easily developed and transitioned to the Playstation 3 format.
Now that I have the EVO of the apprentice and the TFU wave, there isn't much to look forward to from the game with exception to the Rancor.
By the time the game comes out, there won't be any game related toys for the kiddies to scarf up. (Unless of course Hasbro rereleases them, which is a distinct possibility.) However that will keep collectors from buying as we more than likely will have bought these figures by then.
Hasbro should be PO'ed at whomever it is that is holding this up. They put a lot of effort into making a game specific wave. They probably recognized the lost potential from previous games for which they have as yet not released figures as well as the current success of game related figures, ie Darth Malak and Revan and the Republic Commandos. So they jumped at the opportunity to make TFU toys before the game came out to be ready for its release. Only to be slapped in the face with these continual set-backs to the release of the game itself.
-
I saw this over at GH this morning as well, but looking at the date I wasn't sure if it was true or not. If it is indeed delayed again, it is starting to get ridiculous. The anticipation for the game definitely has to be fading for people at this point. I personally don't have a "next gen" system yet, and I'm not sure when we'll get one, so I wasn't super excited like some were - but it sounded kind of cool. I've only picked up a couple of "Force Unleashed" products so far - the wookiee/stormtrooper battle pack and the Evolutions set. I've been on the lookout for some of the figures, but they haven't shown up here yet. Like you mentioned, Hasbro probably isn't real pleased about these delays - there probably will be little to no related product on the shelves by the time the game comes out - unless they re-release it.
-
This reminds me of how the movie industry will heavily preview a movie for months in advance to a point where the movie finally gets released and you feel like it's already been released months ago. You just don't care about the movie at that point and hoping it will go away.
I don't have a 360,ps3 or wii so I'm not going to be able to play this game anyway so buying the toys is kind of halfed in coolness for me. They are just EU figures from a game I've never played.
-
Smacks of a 4/1 joke (which are stupid to begin with) to me, but that aside...
I don't agree with all the negativity on the Evo Trooper. I like the sort of smoother look to the brain bucket because their armor is supposed to be "special" for protection. I like the different look then to it, and how unique it appears. These are truly "specialized" Troopers to me unlike the Snow or Sandtroopers, and even the Scouts to a lesser degree. To me, these guys are not really elite, just specialists, and the armor weirdness is justified then.
-
Got my 2 Revision cases from New Force today. Glad I'm not a carded collector as they have both the Clone Wars and Force Unleashed code stickers plastered on the bubble.
-
Well it looks like the video game has been delayed until next year.
Where did you see that - GH? If so, might that be an April Fool's joke?
I hope so, but sadly, another delay is entirely plausible. If there's been no other conformation though, April fools it might be.
-
I picked up Jigsaw Darth Vader today. Kind of a fun figure. I like the snap on bits, even if they're not overly secure. Reminds me of the operating table Vader. Both of those figures should look nice together.
-
It's being reported that Asia and Europe will get the game in September. No mention of the U.S.
Honestly, I'm so perturbed at the game delay that I may just wait until it clearances before I get it. Hell, I've waited this long, I can wait 6 more months after it finally debuts for me to save some scratch.
-
It's being reported that Asia and Europe will get the game in September. No mention of the U.S
Uh... I guess you weren't paying attention yesterday. :P
LucasArts today announced that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will be released on September 16 in the United States. A PAL release will follow on September 17 and Europe will be granted the use of the Force on September 19.
It was on pretty much every SW fan site out there...

Yeah, I saw it just a bit ago. Well, September is better.
-
I've found all of them except for the two clones/stormies.
-
I was surprised to see this whole wave at our Super Target across town on Saturday. I didn't see Maris Brood (wasn't interested in the figure in particular), but the rest of the wave was there (1 each), so I picked up the two troopers, Vader, Shadow Guard, and Juno Eclipse.
-
A note about Maris Brood-Her head fits nicely on Juno Eclipse's body and makes for a nice different female IMP officer. Since tehre are both the black (Juno) and the grey (Deeana Shan) sculpts out there now, you've got your choice of which body you'd want to use for the head swap. I don't have pics at the moment, but I'm going to futher custom the head by clipping off the long tendrils of hair that are in front, as well just painting over the small horns. (Though I may sand them down a little.) This will make for a nice Admiral Daala figure once her hair is painted red and the Sith eye makeup has been removed.
Also, you might want to use the Maris Brood head for a Ysanne Isard custom with the female IMP officer body.
Anyway, though my fellow customizers might want to know this.

That would work for Isard. You would then have to repaint only one eye. ;)
For Daala, I perfer the latest GI Joe Scarlett head.
-
Does that head fit with no problem or do you have to fudge it at all? (Pack it in or sand down the neck bulb?) <---knows this is going to be misquoted...
I've been looking at the Scarlett figure for awhile now thinking it would make for a good custom. I may just pick one up now, though it seems a bit much for just the head (as I'm not a JOE collector).
-
The neck holes on Joe figures are tiny - about .5 seconds with a dremel takes care of that though. :)
-
The only FU figure I'm not too high on is the female Imperial, to me it just seems absolutely silly and while it a well done figure I can't get over the fact that:
#1 We got a female black tuniced imperial officer with a removable cap before we got a movie one
#2 There are no female officers in any of the movies
#3 There are no female officers in the Empire (unless you count EU I guess)
#4 See #1
I just hope Praji or Jir get the same treatment
The rest of the wave is absolutely great, I love the battle damaged Vader way way more than I thought I ever would, The troopers while EU form a likely bridge between the PT and the OT and I dig their designs, I stuck Rahm and Maris in my Episode II figures and the two Shadow Guards with the Shadow Stormtroopers.
-
I agree with #1 wholeheartedly, but on the #3... It is EU, but at the same time they're (seemingly) relegated to support roles for the most part, so for that I kind of dig her and Lt. Shan as "army builders". You don't see them in the movies but they're out there kind of a deal... That works for me.
She's really sadly the best Imperial Officer figure though, period. I'm not even talking the color of the uniform but overall, she's just vastly superior to the others. It gives me some hope that, someday, we'll get a super articulated, generic sized/sculpted, Imperial Officer, and that he'll get an olive deco, a grey deco, and a black deco...
It's the one Imperial army builder that is sorely missing in the line right now. They're everywhere, they're numerous, they're almost as blank looking as the Stormtroopers... I'd love a nice army of each color.
-
My grades so far...
Jumptrooper: B
The sculpting and articulation is some of the best I've seen on a SW figure... really superb. Great detailing, very poseable, etc. He gets knocked down from a surefire A+ for two reasons. The first is that he's a bit larger than the figures around him! Next to stormtroopers or regular scout troops, who would be his natural squadmates, he's just slightly too big, and is like half a head taller than them. I noticed the same thing with Baron Fel - dude is huge. Don't Hasbro's people design to a spec? The second negative point is that the card blurb goes on about how they use their super-cool railguns as their primary weapon, and then they don't include this - only a regular blaster, of which I have loads of spares. Cheap, Hasbro! A black plastic railgun (using a gun sculpt from one of the clone's heavy guns) would have cost like .5 cents or something to include. Lameness.
Shadow Guard - A
Very nice all around, high quality sculpting and articulation... although just a repaint of the Comic Pack ones we've seen. He looks super cool, the lightsaber-staff thing is neat, and overall a solid figure I'm very pleased with. 8)

To me, an imperial is an imperial, and while everything Scott said is true, she gets an easy pass from me.
-
I think its interesting how Juno Eclipse seems to be the peg warmer of this wave around here.
-
I really don't care for her either. While the figure is great, I guess I prefer to see women doing laundry (just kidding!!!!).
For some reason though, I just don't like her. It's probably because this sculpt is out as a comic pack at the same time, and we've never gotten a male officer that has this much detail put into it.
-
Found 6 cases of this wave today at KB Toys.
The battle damaged Vader is top notch **** and bought x 2. Outstanding articulation and playability, can be posed any which way.
I passed on every single other figure in this wave. I gotta say the evo trooper and the other one are the biggest disappointments, the helmets look nothing like the artwork.
Grade A on Vader, bad job on the stormies, indifferent on the rest.
-
KB Toys eh? If there was one close to here, I'd swing by there. But all but one closed down a few years ago; and that one's close to an hour drive each way.
-
I don't even think there's any KB's left in my entire state. It was a small step up from Kmart, but I kinda miss stopping there every few weeks to see what was new. Still wishin that I would have picked up those Metallica figs that were clearanced out. :-\
Still haven't seen a lick of w2 anywhere yet, but I've got two months before the CW stuff comes out so I think I'm safe.
-
We just lost our local KB as well. We had one left in our mall, but I guess it recently closed (right after Christmas I think). We rarely went to it anyways, it was always so congested and seemed dirty. Actually, the majority of KBs I've been in lately seemed that way a bit. Plus, they rarely had anything new. If anything, it was a good place to go for older stuff it seemed.
-
KB is the only place I know that you can still buy Robocop figures and GI Joe Eco-Warriors. Great place to find things that are so out of print that they are now worth something again.
-
Got to open the Vader finally. Love it. It's a great concept for a figure, even if there wasn't the game.
-
Juno Eclipse - A
Super high quality sculpt and articulation, it makes Hasbro's Legends treatment of the Imperial Officer seem like even more of an obscene ripoff in the articulation department... I wonder if in their contract with Lucasarts it says they have to make the figures be a certain quality level... Hasbro, please make a damn tuniced Officer that's as well sculpted and poseable as this figure!
-
This whole wave is currently in stock at HTS, and if you use the GETOUT20 code, it comes to like $5.59 a figure (before shipping).

I agree. And he's definitely the first one in my area to sell out when Walmarts actually get these in.

Isn't there one back up at the outlet mall place on I-94 heading west? Albertville?
This wave is trickling out in far nothern Minnesota on US cards only so far. Not much luck finding the good stuff lately. Seems Maris Brood is the least desired of the bunch.
-
Really? Around here it's Juno Eclipse.

The only one I remember on 94 was the one in Woodbury which is a few miles away from the Wisconsin border. They ripped down half that mall and put up a WM there.
-
The one at Albertville was there last September, maybe it closed by now? That's back on the way to Fargo and about an hour out of Minneapolis proper, so I don't know if you guys make it out that way very much.
-
Not that it has anything to do with TFU figures, but yes - there is still a KB Toy Outlet store at the Albertville Factory Outlet Mall on I-94. I was just there about 2-3 weeks ago. In addition, there is a KB Toy Outlet store at the North Branch Outlet Mall as well (on I-35 north of the Cities). ;)

The FU wave is still 100% rare in Pittsburgh... I've only seen Juno Eclipse twice, and most of the wave I've never seen in stores once (a friend got me most of my set). They show up and disappear here all together though... I've seen Marris Brood once, and Juno twice... Rahm Kota once I think... And the Evo Trooper once. I've never seen Shadow Guard, Jump Trooper, or Vader in a store.
The Evolutions set is equally tough to get... Sells through before any of the others, however at this point the Wave 2 Evolutions sets are rare in general around here. Even the Jedi Legacy is sold out where it was "sitting" briefly.
-
Just got an Evo Trooper off of eBay...
Grade: A - really great sculpt, excellent accesories (cool longer gun and backpack)... would be an A+ except he again is just a little too big! Like the Jumptrooper, he's about half a head taller than his comrades in the Imperial Army.

"3. OK, so now that we know there are plans in the works for "Midnight Madness" events for The Clone Wars toy launch in July, we’ve got to wonder about the man in the hat. Do you know if there are any "Midnight Madness" events in the works for your big Indy toy launch in May?"
Quoting from the Q&A i understand the saga legends and clone wars coming out on 7/26, but what is the big indy toy launch. Coming out in may does it involve the force unleashed with the battle rancor and a new set of figures, if anyone has any links on this please share.

I still have yet to see a single Force Unleashed figure (Evolutions not included) around here in CO. Even the Evolutions I've only seen them two maybe three times a pop. Luckily Robb was able to hook me up with most of the wave. Most of the stores around here have had nothing but Legends all year. I hardly saw Wave 1 at retail all year either.

The big Indy toy launch is for the Hasbro Indiana Jones (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?board=63.0) line based on all 4 Indiana Jones movies. It has nothing to do with TFU or SW...

I know this is off topic but, a midnight madness has been confirmed?
-
Hasbro has confirmed in the Q&As that there will be "Midnight Madness" type events at the various retailers, but those retailers have not made them public yet... examples:
There will indeed be similar activity as during Episode III, but the exact nature has yet to be determined. We will keep everyone informed as the details shape up.
Yes indeed, retailers are shaping up their plans and there will be activity similar to 2005 and the launch of Episode III toys. As for specific details, it is too early to talk about it but as things take shape we will keep fans informed.
-
I wouldn't be surprised to see the FU wave repacked in the Legacy line for the launch of the game.

I wouldn't have thunk it, but here we are. I wonder what similar could mean though?
