Title: JediDefender Fantasy Baseball 2011
Post by: Morgbug on February 8, 2011, 04:08 PM
Come one, come all.  Time for hot dogs, apple pie and the frustration of looking up to a Canadian.  Though a threepeat is unlikely, I'm in to try.

I didn't really set the draft with any amount of heart, so the date is somewhat flexible.  I'll be away the Saturday - Tuesday prior to the current Wednesday it's set for though.  (so March 26-29)

Well I'd rather you were in, but that's just me.  I'll adjust my draft strategy accordingly.

Though I have to admit by the end of baseball season I'm really burned out and between that and golf, it saps my enthusiasm when hockey and basketball startup again.

As of now it seems fine... we're taking on a HUGE job at work that delivers on April 7th, so all the days leading up to that might be insane for me... who knows.  50 days out I really can't say much about when I'll be available or not.

Post by: Morgbug on February 9, 2011, 11:43 AM
Yeah, things change.

I selected the 30th at 8 P.M. Central simply because that's usually about when we draft - as close to the season start as possible so lineups are set, early injuries are known, etc.  Time is pretty usual, but Explorer was acting up so I couldn't actually select 8:30.  Earlier time may benefit those in the East, or be less annoying anyway.

I guess an alternate proposed date would be the 23rd.

I did an autodraft last night and blech.

In a month from now?  Yeah.  Only four signed up so far but we usually have to beg to get full leagues.

We need some more people for baseball folks.  Draft is under a month away now and would like to get the league to at least 7-8 teams.

Does it help if we move the draft up a week?  How about the 23rd?  That's only a week before the season begins, so might work well enough?

New players are welcome as well, doesn't just have to be the old guard.  Big welcome to JediMoses.

Well I moved it up a week in hopes we can motivate some folks to join in.  I'd like to see at least two more, preferably three and up to five.  New folks are welcome.

The new date didn't conflict with Scott's schedule or mine and hopefully helps Rob out.

March 23rd, in theory, is fine for me.  If I get stuck at work I'll just try to stay late enough to draft from there.

Rightfully?  Not according to the rules as laid out by yahoo for all their sports.  For a dentist your reading comprehension isn't what I expected.  ;)

Click on "My team"  What does it say on the lower left of the page by maximum games allowed?  "Inning limit 1,300".  I couldn't even find that "glitch" rule as you called it last September in the rules.  I had to google the rule to get to the page.  I mean, if you're going to write something like "maximum innings" is 1,300 then you can at least include a damn asterisk after it and refer people to where it explains how the word "maximum" might not mean what the hell it says.

Anyhow, you're lucky i'm gracing you with my presence.  I'm a very busy person.

Post by: Morgbug on March 17, 2011, 05:07 PM
I'm not opposed to drafting earlier, but we'd need a good consensus before that happens.

What we really need is at least two more teams.  A six team league isn't going to be worth it, IMO.

I'm not thrilled with my team at all... I probably wouldn't have picked Tulowitzki with the first rounder so I'm bummed that I got there when I did and missed that first pick... I'd have rather had Longoria I think.  Utley was a mistake, and I found myself unsure of who to draft as far as closers go.   Then I had to auto-draft past about round 7 or so, which sucks.

Like you said, it is a glitch that they can't/won't fix and it's buried in the rules so badly that I had to google what the hell you were talking about to get to the page.

And I just think that rather than write "Max Innings 1300" on the lower left of your team page, there should be an asterisk, since you have a trophy exclusively because what they wrote on our team pages isn't true.

Them's the facts.

I don't see how you can call playing by the official rules cheating.

I seem to recall a year where you swooped in and fixed yourself up with Andre Johnson... that was more of a stretch than this is.

I don't see how you can call playing by the official rules cheating.

It's not technically cheating.  I'm just riling everyone up.

But I don't think maximum innings 1300 should be posted in multiple places without explanation on the spot how someone can get 30 extra innings.

I hope you also seem to recall that the rotating waiver system hadn't been turned on for 2 months and as a result I never got my free agent even though I should have been first in line at that point.

You just got mad because I caught the error when it was your turn to screw me out of my man.

That was literally 6 years ago.

This ain't no movie Bug!  This year I'm putting the smack down, I'll be sure to be in first by more than one point on the last day of the season.  This year I'll spot you the 30 innings.

No need to.  Shields has it at this point.  In the last two weeks he's thrown 3 complete games, gone 3-0, has given up 1 earned run, and has a WHIP of 0.59, all that with 24k.

I'm trying to figure out if it's more accurate now or was more accurate before?

The media is going nuts with the 2 epic meltdowns that happened in baseball last night, with both the Red Sox and Atlanta Braves being yanked from The Big Dance in shocking fashion.  But nowhere is it mentioned the 3rd, The Iron Patriot!  6 point lead with a week to go, poof!

No.

The players all get along just fine.  They are friends and go out to dinner together.  It's the fans that take it too far and hate each other.

Besides, the Rays have been much stronger of late than the Sox, it wouldn't make sense to face a hotter team.

What was the point of what seemed like hundreds of relief pitchers?  I can understand giving somebody some experience or helping someone out, etc., but why do something to blow a lead like that?  Boston did do themselves in, especially not being able to beat the Orioles, but it just seemed a bit of a strange call by the Yankees to me.
