That'll be the icing on the cake, and thank god that Virex quoted Myatt's post in here before it could magically disappear at RS if they do attempt the buy-out move...

If they do, I'd be ashamed to show my face as a member of the staff if I'd taken a healthy **** on that move like Myatt did...  And if they miraculously come up with 55 votes here at the final moments, does anyone really think they'll all be valid?  Hell no...  But they'll make the argument I'd wager.  I could easily see them trying to buy it.  If you ask me, giving away $40 in merchandise is the same thing...  In accounting/economic terms, the $40 give-away **** at Dallas was no better than buying them yourselves...  You pulled the same punch just with a twist.  You gave up your own asset for the vote instead of outright liquidating $40 in merchandise and buying it.  The difference is absolutely nothing...  You bought a vote by baiting a vote...  Same thing.

It's why you're not allowed to stand outside polling stations offering free hoagies for a vote...  To look at it any other way is hypocritical of Dave...

I don't know Dave/Dustin all that well to comment on them as people so I won't call their character into judgment.  What I do know about them is how they put themselves out in public in the greater SW community...  What I see out of Dustin is a lot of condescending attitude towards people on his forum.  Hell I was told at the time about how the mass bannings were going down over there, and how it was a big free-for-all against people for having a simple JediDefender.com link in their signature...  no investigation into the matter, just "ban 'em" on the word of GNT and some others without so much as a look to see if who they were banning deserved it at the time...

I've seen less from Dave overall but he's hardly coming up rosey after his tantrum post Virex quoted.  Throwing a fit over this just is sad after there was so much rampant insistance this was all just for fun and to have a good time with a little contest...  Now it's important?  And to denounce someone for "buying" votes when Rebelscum themselves have essentially bought votes by giving away $40 in merchandise for a vote is simply a hypocritical point of view...  Whether you hand over the $40 or give a $40 autograph so they blow the cash on the membership is irrelevant.  It's the same thing; buying of votes.

This whole thing just shows some really ugly sides of people to me.

It'll be interesting to hear actually...  I know I've heard some Canadians boo the US Anthem at games before, and I've heard the same in reverse...  I don't think it's anything more than some classless bad judgment in San Jose by overzealous fans...  And again I hope they were the minority.

Still I'm rooting for Edmonton on this one...  I was anyway, but this whole thing didn't endear me to San Jose.

Edited to fix my spelling for the whiney Canuckleheads.  :P

I don't mind it myself...  It's not perfect, but it's not too bad either.  It's better than POTF2's and I think comparable to the OTC Yoda...  I think they could've certainly done worse...  It's like Lando.  Not their best work, that goes to Skiff Lando I think, but not shabby either...  I'm keeping VOTC Yoda as my favorite for now...  He seems to be like Han in that nobody can agree what the best is for him.  :)  Some like Cantina, some VOTC, etc...  Han's had a lot of debate over his sculpt in  the past.

I picked up a full set of the modern figs and the 2 WW2 figs shipping with them here just the other day...  I'm overall pleased with what I got.  I'll give some mini-reviews/thoughts on them here now...

-US Spec. Forces Afghanistan...  The Special Forces guy with bare arms is pretty much lacking the things Ryan already mentioned, so you're right on with this one.  The joints are not attractive and show green spots throughout instead of casting it in flesh tones...  And no wrist articulation?  That sucks, plain and simple.  If you can see the elbow joints so much what's the big deal about gaps at wrist joints?  Sleeveless arms are just gonna have to accept they're ugly with articulation and move on.

No working holster also sucks, and I'd add that a non-removable hat is inexcuseable really...  Not perfect, but at the samet ime it's probably the best sculpted figure they've ever done...  The realism on it's unmatched, and it shows how our special forces are fitting in over in Afghanistan...  It's a brutal area, and our troops are adapting to it in weird ways.

-Night Stalker...  One I don't even know wtf a nightstalker is.  I've never heard the term, but I can only assume the guy's a chopper pilot...  What he flies, I have no clue.  Every chopper comes with a pilot so this guy's an enigma to me.  He has a pilot helmet on though...  Though why does he come with a big, I think, M-60 machine gun?  I don't get it...

He does come with a cool laptop and GPS though and that's awesome to me.  A great sculpt, but like the Afghan spec. ops guy he has no wrist joints and like you said Ryan it's REALLY inexcuseable on a figure who has gloves on.  For christ's sake just give him the wrists from the other army figures since they're the same gloves...  Oh and no working holster, again, when they have a goddamn working holster all ready to be used that they've put on figures to-date. :(  This sucks really and is a regression IMO.

-Sniper...  I love this guy.  I don't mind the goofy guille suit without the "back" on it.  To me I'll only display him all guille'd out anyway. :)  I'm gonna cast the hat and suit for star wars uses too, it's fantastic.  The figure has a very hard time holding his sniper rifle(s) though I've found, my only complaint about him.  :(

I like that he comes with two rifles though...  Again though, no working holster...  WTF is the deal with BBI ditching working socom holsters?   ???

-Navy SEAL...  Best of the bunch is the Navy SEAL figure.  He features diving vest, diving fins, camera (I think?), 9mm SMG, boonie hat, goggles...  Stuff all fits the figure well though the breather doesn't fit to his mouth right, it's too low. :(  It'd be nice if the goggles/mask would wrap on the boonie hat too instead of only on the face.  No huge deal there though...

Articulation's perfect really, though BBI could step it up by adding mid-thigh swivels to figures...  And again no working socom holster and it's a must at this point.  Screw making a new holster with a molded-in gun, just give us the old one you already ahve tooled up and we can put the new kick-ass pistols in it ya know?

Anyway, great figures...

The WW2's are better IMO for the most part than 21st's but I'm disappointed that their backpacks are basically stuck on them.  If you take them off the web gearing looks like ****.  The Army Ranger's helmet is too small too for his head, but no big deal there to me, I have tons of helmets available to slap on him.

Some more rifle-ish hands would be nice for posing the figure with M1-Garands but again it poses ok...  Just takes some work.

Overall, great figures, and for $4.99 you can't beat this kind of value.  Even the worst BBI figure rivals the best Hasbro figure...  That's not a good thing for Hasbro, but it's great for a small company like BBI, no doubt.

I loathe Carolina so I can't root for them, but Buffalo's hardly on my hot list...  The east sucks puck this year to me.  I was all for Jersey but man they looked like ****.

The booing at San Jose has me rooting for the Oilers now too...  Screw the sharks fans if that's what is there.  Though I do hope it was a vast, loud, minority that were booing.

Yeah the neck's a little tough to move but it does move with effort...  Still not a great figure by today's standards but it holds up.  Mine's dedicated to mechanic work though on my display shelf since he's perfect for that...  Leaves my articulated Chewbaccas to other devices.

That quote you left there Virex is just incredible...  I mean, I'm even a little open-jawed at the arrogance in it alone, and that's the tip of the iceberg...  The whole thing is just the entire opposite of what this whole election was supposed to be...  Fun.

So much for this being just a jovial little game for the guys at Rebelscum...  Dave can say that it isn't anyone's opinion but his own, but let's not play stupid here...  Obviously there's anymosity among the staff over this thing.

What happened to this all being about "fun"?  Who cares who wins, it's just a big "fun" thing for everyone involved to have a laugh about at the end right?

I've heard all kinds of **** about this it's not even funny...  Everything from people mailing taunting stuff and even threats to some of the people trying to win this, to the obvious vote-buying and rampant whoring of campaigns, mudslinging, name calling...  The works.

This thing was a big fat assed joke from day 1, and it's become nothing but amusing to me at this point.

It's nice to see just what kind of people love to get their hands dirty in this hobby when it all boils down to it...  This Fan Club Campaign never was just "fun" to anyone, and it really hurt some feelings when the whole thing didn't pan out like some had hoped.  All for a position of no power, just something to stroke one's own ego a little bit and win some ****.

To me, I say USWCWannaBe won the game the fairest way possible...  On his own.  To that end I applaud the guy.

Thanks Mitsu and Clone...

I've noticed a couple Lando's at every TRU I visit...  It's ugly but the figure's fantastic so it's disappointing that it's so underrated by fans on some level I guess.  It also says to me that Lando's a kiss of death on the pegs...  I know Lando General wasn't hard to find in the OTC line, so hopefully Hasbro doesn't go too crazy with Lando's in the future.  I'd like a more articulated pilot Lando but beyond that I don't have too many wants on that one.

One of my favorites in the VOTC Review-A-Thon is Yoda...  A lot of people didn't like him much especially with the OTC Yoda out alongside him, but VOTC Yoda's got the top Yoda spot on my shelf.

Check out in particular what I said about his utility belt...  An important part of the figure missed by Hasbro and one that helps the figure look a lot more appealing despite the puffy coat.

Still, that's my favorite Yoda irregardless.  I need a blue cloth pack for him now to ride on a SA Dagobah Luke's back. :)

The joint on mine has these plastic bits that sort of help it stay in a pose.  I could see it being loose though for sure Diddly, I just didn't experience it with mine.  I don't have a 2nd to compare...  yet.  I'll make sure and drop a note here if I experience it with another figure though when I get one...  I think I have a case on the way from Newforce. :)

I know mine's not as fluid for posing as other ball/socket torsoes, but it's not bad either.  It holds its poses. I could just be lucky in that though.

I think Dean's point has been heard and it's valid either way...  Tread lightly is my advice Gamboa, but I'm sure you'll know what to do and what is right form at any given moment.

I'm addressing the rest of the situation privately, I suggest everyone else do the same and keep the thread on topic otherwise it'll get locked down here.  The bickering replies back and forth stop now.

Guys, let's cut the **** out please...

The conversation was going pretty well, so killing it like this is just pointless.

Personally I'm giving Gamboa the benefit of the doubt on being subtle and polite if he makes the attempt...  Dean's points are valid though about "ambushing" Ratzenberger for autographs so I don't see his point of view as being arrogant or anything.  It's valid.

I'm sure others are just assuming Gamboa isn't going to hound the guy and knows to be cool about it and not be a jagoff SW fan...  One can hope.  In the grand scheme of things though that's Gamboa's perogative as to how he goes about it and understanding the negatives involved too.

So let's drop the bitching about each other and our posts...  I'm too tired today for this.

Go for it Gamboa, let us know how you fare with this...  Drop an image if you want, I'd dig seeing you with him or something just because he's not a guy you can seemingly get ahold of too often.
