Any of you guys out there track down this version of Darth Vader? It was the "retooled" variant that originally appeared in the SOTE 2-Pack with Prince Xizor and repackaged on a green card with the hologram.
My quest for documenting all of the Darth Vader variants (and eventually acquiring them) has led me to this bad boy. My understanding is he's tricky to find.

I saw one labeled as a retooled vader on ebay go for 120+ earlier this week and one I had my eye on went off today for 40 but it was not as well labeled. I have yet to get one but I know several people who've got it. They pop up on ebay all the time but its got a big demand so they can get pretty pricey. I believe i'm watching another one right now on there. I'm looking to get mine for about $20. Beware of people claiming their vaders to be the retooled vader, the easiest way to tell in auctions with bad pics is how high the lightsaber is packaged. That and the cape are the big signs. Edit: Also have fun finding the different bubble variants of this guy. I've got the collection 3 green card vader with square bubble but havent gotten the collection 1 with stand up bubble yet. Both of those are pretty tough. they are probably more rare than the retooled but the retooled just has a higher demand. I just got a europen trilogo vader on an orange card with a stand up bubble this week off ebay. If you ever have a question about a vader variant Darth Jaxx is the man to ask. He's on potf2, RS, and wampas cave and has a great vader focus with a goal of getting every variation on every datestamp they were produced (CRAZY)

Back when I was into variatons, I did track this down and I believe I got it for fifiteen bucks from a comic book shop.

DSJ I cant really tell from the pic but it actually doesnt look like the ss/lt vader but a microsaber short saber/short tray vader. If so thats a cool piece. I've got 2 microsaber vaders but both of mine are on green cards. As far as production errors like that are concerned i didnt include them in my list as I know of wayyyyyy to many lol.

I agree - I think of the microsaber as more like an error than a variant. However, I'm sure I'll eventually try and track down one of those too. ::) ;)

Microsabers can be found for cheap on ebay BUT thats only usually the case when the seller does not list it as such or doesnt know. I have seen plenty on ebay that have not been listed or been listed as shorter than normal and some as ss/lt figures. As far as micro saber errors go I have the following:
Micro long saber buff luke with GOLD grappling hook on trilogo card (one of my favorites)
one OC ben with micro short saber
one OC luke x-wing micro long saber(one of the hardest to find and his sabers look like micros when they are not a lot of times)
two green card vaders one with holo and one without
one micro gun luke (floppy hat luke)
and i think i have a micro gun aura sing POTJ fig
The 2 vaders I have are actually pretty hard to tell as they are not TOO much shorter than normal. DSJs is much more noticeable as mine are taped a little higher so its got space in the bottom and top of the tray.

I picked up my micro saber (68mm) at TRU several years ago during the $.99 sell-a-thon. Green carded Vader without holosticker, slanted bubble.
Even I get lucky now and then!

Nice find. Correct length is 72mm, I believe, so that's a definite microsaber. :)

The microsabers never interested me, so I never picked them up when I saw them. :P

You can find them every now and then mislabled in auctions and things like that so yeah i wouldnt go paying $80 for one just yet. I'm still looking to get one for about $20 or less

It´s a bit taller than the standard Vader from 1995 (red card)
nowadays are highly detailed with color scale on armor: chest plate and shoulders armor
these 1995 Vaders have a well acurate suit, it has stripes, squares
I hope the new vaders don´t lose the acuracy of the tracksiut
