(Side note:  I was recently re-visiting the PWBA DVD, listening to the Tim Burton/Paul Reubens commentary, and Reubens made a point of mentioning that the correct spelling of his character's name was "Pee-wee"--yes, hyphenated, with a small "w".  Somehow, I think we may have an impostor here.)

The Cartoon Network's Adult Swim has picked former CBS series "Pee Wee's Playhouse," the channel said Monday.

The late-night network purchased the rights to all 45 episodes of Paul Reubens' quasi-children's show, which aired from 1986 to 1991. CBS cancelled the series after Mr. Reubens was arrested in an adult theater and charged with indecent exposure.

Since, reruns of the series have been rare. Adult Swim said many of the episodes have not been aired since their original run. Adult Swim will launch the series July 10.

I never liked the PeeWee Herman movies. I thought the dude was a total loser. Now, why aren't my feelings changing?

I was watching the live special that's aired on HBO, showtime and stuff for years...  That's classic stuff.  Phil Hartman at some of his best.

Pee-wee Herman was and still is a damn genius. I really hope the re-runs of Playhouse on AS help him with his future projects like the long rumored R-rated Pee-wee movie along the lines of the live comedy special.
