Mace Windu Clone Wars Armor
Captain Rex
Luke Yavin Ceremony
Mara Jade Jedi
Darth Vader Bespin
A-Wing Pilot
Biggs
Ep 2 Clone Pilot
BAD: R8-B7 and R5-X2
-
20 new figures announced and no new Han figure among them. :(
Glad to see R5-X2 on the list though, that's a nice one to get ticked off the list.
-
Watch Biggs gets a brand new X-Wing pilot sculpt, while poor Wedge gets old sculpts. Glad R5-X2 is finally being made. Curious about Luke and Bespin Vader.
-
I was shocked Mace even got the realistic TCW treatment. Other than the clone armor guantlets and maybe a longer robe, there really isn't too big of a difference. I really wish Hasbro would start on realistic TCW villains instead - give me realistic Asajj, Cyborg Maul and Savage Opress instead, please Hasbro? :-*
-
I'd be shocked if Biggs got a new sculpt only because he actually is about Hammil's height... He should be on the shorter side. It's Red Leader who should've been a head taller than those two. :-\
-
Speaking of Wedge, the new Wedge figure is really short...was the actor such a little guy?
-
From the original Wedge discussion in the Vintage Wave 3.5 thread...
Denis Lawson = Height: 5'8" (1.73 m) (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0493200/bio)
Mark Hamill = Height: 5'9" (1.75 m) (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000434/bio)
Yep, short guy.
-
I think they need to retire that Luke body. It might be proper height, but compared to the more recent X-Wing pilot bodies, it doesn't hold up in my opinion.
-
Seems like out of the first couple waves, I only want 2 of the B-A-Ds. :-\

I've heard that Hamill is shorter than that.
Temuera Morrisson is only 5' 7.25"...a little short to be a lot of stormtroopers.

Based on this Mara Jade Skywalker listing, it seems like Hasbro didn't have her in the pipeline during the last Fan's Choice Figure Poll. You've got to figure that this wave probably won't be seen until at least March or April of '13.
Darth Vader Bespin? Hasn't that one been in the works for about 10 years or more? I'm interested to see how Hasbro is going to present that version of Vader. The prototype of Bespin Vader that came out year ago showed a blast spark in Vader's hand. Will this new version do something similar?
Yavin Ceremony Luke? This seems like a case of trying to fix the 30AC figure. That headsculpt was just pasty and pale, but the rest of the figure was okay. Hopefully this new version will address the areas where the 30AC figure fell short.
The A-Wing pilot is kind of interesting. Part of me wants the Sullustan pilot from the ROTJ deleted scene. But another part of me wants a human A-Wing pilot on a Vintage card. Seeing how the Vintage Collection is going on hold for a while, I'd like Hasbro to hold off on the human A-Wing pilot and save that for when the Vintage Collection comes back. By that train of thought I think it's more likely that we might get that deleted scene Sullustan A-Wing pilot.
Most of all? I'm hoping that Hasbro might at least have some images or prototypes of this wave to show off at C6.
-
Hopefully AOTC doesn't become another TPM. The Vader sounded very cool with all the accessories he comes with and as always I look forward to the OT characters, but sadly, there's no a lot new here from the OT.
-
I wouldn't mind the sullustan A-Winger, the first two waves are severely lacking in the aliens department.

Cool, thanks. He is definitely a diminutive hero.
-
This wave really confuses me. Who was clamoring for a new Yavin Ceremony Luke? Yes, the 30AC one had a terrible headsculpt but that was easily fixed with the awesome Luke from that Falcon Training battlepack. Bespin Vader? Yawn. At least these last few Vaders have been something different, which is enough to get me to break my "Buy No More Vaders" stance.
I'm interested really in just the A-Wing Pilot. I kinda want one of those old women from the Blu-Ray deleted scenes, specifically that one that talks slow like she's on the phone with her grandkids.
-
Yeah, Yavin Luke is a head-scratcher... they just need to do Yavin Han properly, or Leia, even.
-
Only getting Rex from this Wave.
I hope he gets the Fordo treatment.
-
Actually I wanted Yavin Luke... :-\ Not even a total redo, as I think the 30AC figure is a fine base figure in every way, but I would like a better headsculpt and skin tone... That one, even with a better skin tone, would've sufficed. But yeah he looks pasty and sick.
Giving him the proper gun wouldn't hurt either. He's sporting a blaster ala Leia's, not a big ole Han-type pistol. I gave mine one of the few tiny Leia sporting blasters I had. It fits the holster ok actually.
-
Not to mention they gave him Vader's lightsaber hilt :P
-
I'm very in the dark on lightsaber hilts... I know some guys notice that stuff right away, but I never do. I always figure Luke's and Vaders were so similar... and usually the black deco on Vader's is so light that it looks enough like Luke's (for me).
Though I get people not liking that... Can't argue with their issue with it. I just never seem to nice.

Two rebel pilots in one wave, (Biggs and A wing) Talk about overkill

Two rebel pilots in one wave, (Biggs and A wing) Talk about overkill
I'm okay with both - I just wish Vintage had stuck around long enough to see them on Vintage cardbacks - after Wedge, the other pilot I've wanted most on a Vintage cardback was Biggs.
-

Toss in Clone Pilot and it's pilot overkill.
I just rarely buy the ships...so pilots interest me less than some folks.

Help a lazy guy out with a photo....
-
from the movie or my collection?
-
Movie please.
Like I said I'm lazy. And I am at a conference for the real job... Internet is too slow for google or wookiepedia.

That's why the jacket should be removable...but won't be.
-
Hell, they gave Walrusman alternate arms, they could do something similar with Luke to give us a removable jacket. Though it wasn't in the movie, so I'm not expecting it.
-
Two rebel pilots in one wave, (Biggs and A wing) Talk about overkill
Well, looking back at the TWO Biggs Darklighter figures from 2007 (Pilot Biggs (http://www.rebelscum.com/TAC14Biggs.asp) & Toschi station Biggs (http://www.rebelscum.com/TAC17biggs.asp)), I think that the pilot figure was the stronger of the two. I'm game for a re-do of that deleted scene Biggs. It was cool to get that deleted scene Biggs in 2007, but the figure was a little on the weak side. And with Hasbro going into that deleted scene territory because the Saga on Blu-Ray finally gave us an official look at those deleted scenes, a resculpt of Toschi station Biggs would be pretty awesome.
All of that being said, I could see the potential for Hasbro to throw us a curveball and give us an Imperial Officer Biggs:

-
I thought I read it was X-Wing Biggs
-
I believe I saw that, somewhere, in the mix of SDCC news... hell, might've even been here but it's all a mess in my head at this point.
On the whole biggs thing, I'd take both redone... Pilot Biggs (I just opened one the other night from a case I got super cheap) is HHHHHUUUUUGGGGGEEEE [/parishilton slowmo] and from what I recall of the SE Luke/Biggs scene in the Yavin Hangar, Biggs is pretty darn close to Luke's height and it's Red Leader who's a lot taller than both it seemed.
So I'd take both Biggs figures getting a second look... but if I could only have one, I'd go with the Pilot over the Tosche Station one.
EDIT: Let me add that that is a cool photo Scockery. Never seen that, but I dig it. I'd seen a wider shot of Luke that you can clearly see he's rockin' Leia's blaster, but the coat's on in it. If I find it, I'll post it too.
His 30AC figure's holster does hold the blaster though, pretty well. I was shocked. Looks cool.
-
I'm really excited about the droid choices for this wave. Those are two good looking droids. R8 is a CW resculpt, and R5 has most of the same parts as BAD R2-R9 except for the dome, so they shouldn't make things too difficult for those that aren't completely obsessive.
-
Now we know the A-Wing pilot is a human.
How utterly boring.
No "bonus" Phase 2 helmet with Rex or standard trooper helmet with the Clone Pilot. Bah.
We get Jango's helmet with Mace. Is Jango's head in it? :o Or is it just the one from CW with the bomb inside?
-
Even though we have like a million different Vader figures, this upcoming Bespin Vader came out looking pretty good, especially with the blaster bolt deflecting action going on. Mara Jade looks pretty good, too.
-
A boring wave.
Mace - Whatever
Biggs - I did this already
Ceremony Luke - again already did this with a better head
Mara Jade - its okay
Clone Pilot - I could have done this already
A-Wing Pilot - pointless
Darth Vader - cool hand accessory (I know its the ESB TVC Vader)
Captain Rex - I looking forward to this figure
BADs - R8-B7 (whatever), R5-X2 (the only thing exciting in this wave)
-
Looks like Biggs uses the Luke Pilot body too.
-
I think they said it's the slightly taller Brannon body.
-
Liking the Bespin Vader and Mara Jade figures, though God knows I don't need or want another Vader figure...
-
I think they said it's the slightly taller Brannon body.
If it's Brannon he's a lot taller, which ironically may not be accurate. :)
The one time they probably should've used a shorter sculpt. Kinda funny.
-
Slightly better than Wave 1 maybe, but still kind of boring. I think all the figures we've seen look really nice, there are some it is just tough to get excited about since we've seen them before (in some cases several times). I'm happy with most of the OT stuff, since the last Yavin Luke was a little off, a new Biggs is welcome, and the other stuff is nice too. I'm kind of psyched for Rex, and Mara Jade looks nicely done. Honestly, I just don't care about new clones too much anymore, I've gotten my fill at this point. Vader is kind of neat for something different too. I'm wondering if their presentation slide is accurate with "30 plus" figures for 2013. We've already seen 20 through waves 1 and 2, right? That leaves maybe 15 figures for the rest of the year then? I don't mind the scale back overall, but I'm wondering how it will break out for the year then...maybe two more waves?
-
A friend said to kick off a line you should put your best foot forward... And this isn't it.
I have to agree.
Now, that's not to say I don't like what was pictured, but that first wave or two do sort of stick in my craw a bit.
I mean, I dig some of it... But like Ceremony Luke is a bit of a kick in the ding ding, as is another Sandtrooper. I like 'em, but I have plenty and yeah, I would've rather seen something really new and unique. An alien resculpt, a trooper variant that we don't have... More new, less rehash. Kicking off a new BAD line where the BAD figures are the best part, and the stuff you gotta buy to get the parts is ho-hum? That sorta feels like a flawed beginning.
now... that said... They did kick off 2012 with practically a whole wave of new figures, and, well, that didn't pan out ultimately... so who knows.
-
Just when you thought you couldn't stand seeing another ******* Sandtrooper, you get one here. Oh, and apparently there's also one in the Movie Heroes line, with a big honkin' gun. That's right, the line that's clogging the pegs is getting the current king of the peg cloggers.
Is Hasbro asleep at the wheel or what?
-
Just when you thought you couldn't stand seeing another ******* Sandtrooper, you get one here.
I guess Hasbro figures cross-overs work (ala Avengers movie), so why not Sandtroopers in multiple lines?
-
I actually like the Sandtroopers but don't quite understand their reasoning for always having them on the shelves. One wave right after another it seems like. Vader, Mauls, Jangos, Bobas I get that. But Sandtroopers?
-

I don't get it either. Did they really need to release on at the beginning of the Vintage line, the end of the Vintage line, the beginning of the new Legacy collection AND in the Movie Heroes?
And since the body of these releases all to be the same figure, I find DDP's remarks about how the CW/MH figures are for kids and not collectors and kids are "frustrated by articulation" to be nothing more than a lame excuse for cost cutting measures.

Wave 2 is kind of neat... I'm digging them anyway.

They simply don't care. No effort, nothing. But I'm sure collectors, em, er, I mean, kids will be buying these like crazy.

After looking at the press images, I'm a little more excited for this wave now too. I always planned to pick most of them up, but some of them look a little spiffier with a closer look. Not too bad, the Luke in particular is an improvement over the last version, if it ends up looking like this.
-
I agree Yavin Luke uses tac sculpt, but seems the arms are retooled and almost long like in dagobah landing vc 44.
This new head should be used for a new xwing pilot version of Luke, replacing the pointy chin.
Mara is decent, looks young and looks like emperorīs hand version too. She has got more detail on pants and knee pads.
The a wing pilot is likely army builder.
Rex is between cartoon and realistic style.
Bespin Vader is a concept lef in oblivion since 1999.
-
I'm a lot more excited for this wave now. Hasbro's obviously putting a TON of effort in the realistically-styled TCW figures, those figures from Anakin to Rex now all look amazing in terms of sculpt. Glad there was also a lot of effort with Mara, they did say they were trying to keep the spirit of TVC alive by sculpting her hair as a separate piece.
-
I am most excited for Rex. The others? Meh. Biggs and clones and EU filler - not much to get excited over. That's how I see it. But, I'll probably buy them all. ::)
