Title: Best, Oldest Figure?
Post by: speedermike on September 25, 2006, 09:22 PM
I've been buying current Hasbro figures since 1995.  Many of the earlier figures are sub-par compared to what is being made today.  However, there were some good ones from back then.  What is the oldest figure that you display with your current figures? Who holds up the best?

I have to vote for Ackbar and Ree-Yees. Any thoughts?

CommTech Stormtrooper.

Well, lets see...

• Lak Sivrak
• Labria
• Neibrun Leids
• ASP droid
• Ackbar
• Zuckuss

Those are figures that I'm not clamoring for a reculpt of. Though, you just know a new Ackbar would be really cool...

I guess there are several questions here.

The oldest figure that I display side by side with new figures has to be orange card Chewie.  I know he is crap by I have him picking out of an AT-ST in my newly revamped Endor diorama (which I am actually finishing up this week).

I also have about 30 or so orange card steroid stormies that I display in various dioramas as super troopers.

Some of the best scultps for the day would have to be cantina aliens.  Some of those guys look pretty good next to the newer guys (articulation aside).

-Pote Snitkin
-Death Star Droid
-ASP-7
-2-1B
-Rebel Pilot 3-pack (Though Ig uess they're not as old as some of the others there)

Ponda Baba doesn't LOOK too bad and he's fairly old, but they could definitely improve him now-a-days.

I still love the POTF2 Boba Fett. Hands down one of my very favorites from the whole line.

I would have to say 4-Lom, Zuckuss, Ackbar and ASP-7 until they make better ones of these.

I also think Pote Snitkin looks as good and better than any current figure.

2-1B, Orimaarko, Ishi Tib

Orimaarko has always been one of my favorite SW characters of all time. I made a pretty good custom 'Hoth Orimaarko' once with the Orimaarko head, Bren Derlin body, Ki-Adi Mundi soft-goods, general lando holster thingy and clone cmdr. pistol...ahh...customizing... :D,woh, forgot where i was. anyway, yeah, orimaarko rocks. id love an SA one in the near future, right there under Bastila Shan and SA Aurra Sing.

I'm surprised by the many people who have chosen 2-1B as one of the best.  Didn't do much for me.

I agree he's dull Jesse, but I really found 2-1B to be one of the better detailed sculpts and paintjobs of the POTF2 line...  Pote's right up there for me too besides articulation.  He's really decent...

I can't say I agree on Zuckuss much, or Prune Face...  Prune's lacking articulation bites, and his sculpt wasn't as great as it could've been I believe.  It's not horrid either but it's not up there for me.  That's a figure I really REALLY hope for a resculpt on that includes a removable eyepatch so we can do a little army building.

Zuckuss is left off because of the cloak.  The vinyl robe slit all the way up the sides is attrocious looking to me.  :(

id rethink zuckuss unless he's for scene building, but ishi tib is a very good fig, not only for standing around with your mothma, ackbar, and prune face and madine, etc., but for custom fodder. i have an ishi tib jedi knight on www.thecustomalliance.com , under David Delgado, recently posted.
