Do we reduce the number of games per position back to the normal 82?

Do we reduce the number of defensemen down to 3 per team?

Any other changes or suggestions?

I'd be open to having fewer defensemen... finding 4 good ones (5 really with the extra games) has always been a bitch unless you draft them early.

Still looking for input on this one.

Draft is scheduled for 28 September 8:30 CST.

I'm ok with fewer defensemen as well.

I'll talk with the local guys here about the D number.  I think most are going to agree.  My only contention is that my draft D early backfired horribly last year but that doesn't mean that the point isn't valid, just that it doesn't always work.

What about game numbers?  Most leagues we play, like baseball or basketball (and formerly hockey) are just the number of games in the season.  We changed that years ago when Jason was still playing here but that's been quite a while.  I'd actually like to see it go back to 82 games per position.  What do you guys think?

Ok, I've made some changes, so pay attention:

Down to 3 Defensemen.  Seems everyone found it hard to manage having four D so that's dropped.

I made an executive decision to drop the number of games per position to 85 from 90, so it's a little less but you still have three extras.  This will require more attention to who you start and how often you swap a player in and out because there is more of a cap on games.

The draft is currently slotted at 8:30 CST on Wednesday, October 5.  This is a change based on local guys in our draft being at a Jets game that night.  But this is the last Wednesday night before the regular season starts, so fits with JD tradition.

A team cannot join this league; the teams have been finalized by the commissioner

Unlocked.  My apologies to anyone that wanted to join but had difficulty.  Looking for up to ten teams.  We're halfway there now with Scott.

Anyone else signing up for hockey or do I need to recruit more Canadians?

Will a JDer who's Canadian be sufficient?  ;D. I'll join tonight.

Still a Canadian, but it's getting to be that way what with lazy Minnesotans breeding too much and no longer playing.

Just looking over everyone's rosters.  I actually don't mind mine.  I gave up some points early on but liked my position selections for wings.

Rob's got the ultimate risk/reward team IMO.  Ladd, Ennis, Stastny, Jagr, Kessel, Yandle, Kovalchuk, Crosby all have huge potential returns.  But the potential has to be rewarded and present to pay off.

Hard to believe a guy like Spezza has fallen all the way to garbage time too.

Yeah, I went that way with Crosby right off the bat and sort of decided to roll with it.  No idea if I'm defending the title or if I just wrapped up last place.

Should be fun at least.

I wasn't able to attend the draft, but I'm happy with how my team ended up.  I'm pretty stoked to have guys like Malkin, Datsyuk, Nash, and Kesler.  I've got Spezza, who I think deserves to be rewarded with a good season.

Mostly RISK so far.  Meanwhile...

Crosby - DTD
St. Louis - DTD
Chara - DTD
Gonchar - DTD
Stastny - IR
Lehtonen - IR

Argh...

Only 9 points separates 2nd and 5th place.  It's anyone's game.

Hey now, I'm 120 back, but I've got a gazillion extra games to use compared to the people in front of me.  If I can manage to use them, I'm still in this thing!

And if I could just have Sidney Crosby back.   :'(

Refer back to 'risk/reward' post.

At least Crosby has a very valid reason.  I'm almost to the point of dropping my first round pick  ::)  My second pick hasn't been all that much better.  I'm where I am in the standings because of those two and I selected them, so I can't even look for legitimate sympathy anywhere.  Ugh.  Bobby frickin' Ryan.  >:(

Yep, I knew what i was getting into.  I also haven't done a good job of using all these games, at all.  I'm scrambling now to figure out if I'll be able to make the most of that and claw my way back into things.

That was a hell of a night you had on Tuesday Scott -- 19 pts.  You're making me nervous.  ;)

Looking at games played, I don't think you have anything to worry about from Scott.

Quite frankly, even as far back as I am, I think I have a decent shot at 3rd or 2nd these clowns don't totally screw up the last few weeks.

Congrats to Jesse on winning this year.  Also nice job Rob in climbing back into things.

The guy who finished second did pretty well too given he spent a month in Africa without internet access and then moved from Regina to California at the start of March.

No guessing picks for me next year  ::)  Hell, if that's the best I can do I might go via autodraft.

Yep, congrats Jesse!

As for that climb back into it... I ****** up by not using all my games.  I could have had a pretty legitimate shot at 2nd if I'd just paid more attention earlier.   I missed 2nd by 12 points and I had 17 unused games for skaters, and 16 at goalie.  My fault totally, but disappointing all the same.
