The Bullpen / Marvel Legends

I agree Scott, those are the three I'm looking forward to as well.  They really seem to continue to improve these figures with every wave.  Although it is "another" Wolverine, this is the costume I remembered a lot from when I was a kid, and looks like a great (and in scale) figure.  I'll gladly add Juggy, Wolvie, and Phoenix to the collection if I happen across them.

JD Sports Forum! / Re: The NBA Playoffs!
« on: June 7, 2004, 09:21 AM »
Good points Matt...it has to be frustrating for you Laker fans.  You know you are capable of always winning, it just depends whether or not your guys want to play.  Especially now...its the finals for Pete's sake.  Like you said though, much of the credit goes to Detroit's D.  They played very well last night.  To be honest, I was pretty surprised they ended up winning...kept waiting for LA (and Kobe in particular) to make a patented 4th quarter run and pull it out of their behind at the end.  Anyways, I hope this play continues, I'd really like to see a competitive finals throughout.  I'm usually not a big Pistons backer, but the fact that none of the commentators or anyone gives them a snowballs chance kind of gives them that underdog mystique where you at least want to see them give the Lakers some trouble.

This picture really makes me realize how HUGE Juggernaut must be, which is a good thing :)

It looks like Action-Figure.com, as well as TNI, have images/reviews up of ML Series 6.  You can check them out HERE and HERE.  It looks like AF.com has a lot of detailed pics of each figure, looking forward to this wave hitting.  Seems like it has been a long time since I've been checking the ML figs at the store.  Which are you looking forward to the most (if any)?

Nevermind...thanks to some help from Jeff (Nataku), I'm caught up on these aside from General Lando.

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: Who's getting bored?
« on: June 7, 2004, 08:57 AM »
I don't know if I am necessarily bored either.  I'm kind of frustrated with so much re-released stuff during the second part of the year though (some I can understand, but Hasbro may have gone a little overboard).  However, I don't know if I have been as excited for figures for a long time (since vintage days) about those VOTC figures.  I can't wait until those start showing up.  Also pretty excited about the Dagobah/Bespin waves, and the other figures we have seen during the first 6 months or so this year.  I think 2004 has been a pretty good year for figures, re-releases aside.

Also...with distribution spotty (at least around here), I think the dry spells in finding Star Wars swag has led me into collecting other lines in the past.  I'm pretty much just interested in Marvel and LOTR stuff now, but probably wouldn't have thought as seriously about buying any if I didn't have long spells without finding Star Wars stuff.  Must be some sort of collecting "bug", have to buy something.  Still haven't had much luck talking the wife into having more LOTR figures in the office though :)

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Saga Purchases
« on: June 7, 2004, 08:53 AM »
My parents and brother came down to visit this weekend, and stopped off at a Wal-Mart in a town along the way.  My brother was able to pick up Captain Antilles, Tie Fighter Pilot, and Tanus Spijek for me, and this, combined with a package coming this week from Jeff (Nataku) will get me close to caught up with Saga.  Still on the look out for General Lando, J'Quille, and possibly Ozzel (not sure if I'm picking that one up or not).  Also still need the rest of the glass sets.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Pleasant Surprises from the Saga Line
« on: June 4, 2004, 03:56 PM »
While unpacking some of the collection last night/this morning, I noticed another nice figure that I wasn't really anticipating in the Saga line...the Tusken Raider.  Something about the way this figure is posed, colored, and also its base really make it spiffy to me.  Despite the "removable head" feature, I still like to use it with my OT figures...because it seems far superior to any versions released for those movies.  Why Hasbro didn't re-attach the head and use in the OTC line I'll never understand ::)

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: Vintage OTC Figures
« on: June 4, 2004, 09:19 AM »
Thanks for posting Jeff, this figure really looks amazing.  I like that there are ball-jointed knees, etc., and it sounds like he will be quite poseable.  This VOTC line continues to impress me, and I can't wait to see more of them in the coming weeks.  Like I have said before, if I couldn't have a big collection and had to limit it, I think I'd pick up these 12 figures and display them on their own.  I'm still thinking about creating some sort of minidisplay with just these figures, they just look so amazing so far.

While reviewing what has/will come out this year, and figuring out what I need to (or am going to) pick up, I got to thinking there is quite a bit of stuff this year.  Granted, much of the stuff is re-carded, re-hashed, re-released, etc....and I'm not a fan of that either, but just looking at what we have/will have the opportunity to get in the year 2004...and its a pretty big number, and believe me when I say I feel very sorry for you completists:

Saga - 21 Basic Figures
Saga Ultra - 6 New, 2 Re-released
Saga "Hall of Fame" - 12 re-released figures
OTC - 7 "new" figures
OTC - 31 re-released figures
VOTC - 12 all-new "ultimate" figures

I may be forgetting a few things, but that's 91 figures for the year...not counting the following:

Clone Wars Animated Figures - Target Exclusive (8 figures)
Multi-packs - Skirmish at Carkoon, Naboo Final Conflict (?), Endor Ambush
Target Cup/Figure Sets - 5 of them
Jedi Council Screen Scenes - 4 additional sets
DVD Commemorative Packs - 3 sets, 10 figures total (repacks)
Vehicles - Red Leader X-Wing (Saga), Darth Vader's Tie (OTC), X-Wing (OTC), Millennium Falcon (OTC), Tie Fighter (OTC), Sandcrawler (OTC - Diamond Exclusive),  Y-wing, Slave 1.
Unleashed Figures - 10 planned for the year (including Clone variant)
12" - 6 figures that I know of (Obi/Jawa/Garindan, Vintage "3")

I'm sure there are things I'm forgetting, and granted much of these items are re-releases or items that I might skip for one reason or another...but that seems like a whole mess of stuff this year.  I'm not saying its good necessarily, as I would rather see it somewhat toned down in favor of more new sculpts...but it is a lot of stuff to pick up for those of you that want one (or more) of each.  I guess outside of the re-releases, we are still getting 40 "new" figures this year, not counting the repaints in the OTC re-releases.  Also, hopefully there are a few more surprises awaiting for the last part of the year.  Anyways, sorry for the long post, just something I was thinking about today.

Edit: Roughly (not including the DVD sets, don't know price) that is around $1300 potential to spend if you buy one of each of everything.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Harry Potter
« on: June 3, 2004, 03:01 PM »
I'd really like to go this weekend, but not sure if we will end up going right away or not.  We just moved, and have a lot of things around the house to take care of.  Also, we haven't seen "Chamber of Secrets" yet, so we need to rent that before we go into the third one  ;).  After seeing the first one, I'm thinking about picking these up on DVD...but will wait until after we rent the next one...but they seem like pretty good movies, much better than I expected even.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: 2004 DVD Release List
« on: June 3, 2004, 11:32 AM »
TVShowsonDVD.com has posted an article detailing the upcoming Seinfeld season discs.  The way it sounds, Seasons 1 and 2 are together (18 episodes) and Season 3 (22 episodes) will be released at the same time.  There has also been a survey to see what people are interested in as far as "gift packs", etc.  You can check out the news, and see the pics HERE

I kind of like your box set idea Brent, I might have to look into that route too.  I'm going to check out the retails spots around here this weekend if we go out and about, see what's there to pick up (and what I can talk the wife into).  I'll let you know about the Gimli, thanks for the offer :).
