Watto's Junk Yard / Re: What's your local sales tax?
« on: June 11, 2003, 07:03 AM »
5 % here in Boston, Taxachusetts but it's very deceiving.  There are hidden taxes in everything like weird phone bill taxes, rental taxes, state tax is insane.

Don't let the sales tax fool you.

And lets not forget the excise tax, which is a tax imposed on your vehicle (a percentage of the vehicle's worth).  They say its for road repair, upkeep, etc. but thats B.S. as Massachusetts has the worst roads I've ever driven on.

-Chocolate covered pretzels.  The wife brought some home just yesterday.  And not the kind from a bag, the good kind from a candy store where they cost like $1 a piece.

-Mint chocolate chip ice cream.  And it must be green.

-Not worrying about doing a damn thing over the weekend if I don't won't to.

-Playing softball. Even though the team is 0-6 with a forfeit and two "mercy rule" loses (losing by 12+ runs after 5 innings) few things are more enjoyable than playing a good softball game.

-Playing golf.  I not good (just started two+ years ago) but love playing a round of golf and drinking a few beers along the way.

Adam (BigDumbWookiee) sold me the Naboo, Hoth and Endor sets for cheap ($15 total) and I went out and bought the arena set.  I'm still missing the Falcon and Xwing sets.  Due to Adam's generous pricing, I figured "What the hell, I'll buy them for my kids.  I don't have any now, but when I do, these will probably be no longer available in the stores."  I told the wife this and she just rolled her eyes.  She even went around her work and told her co-workers that I was buying toys for kids I don't even have yet.  I did find out from one of the co-workers that the wife thinks these are cool toys.

Congrats to the Ducks for a great run and to Giggy for a great playoff performance.

The Devils, on the other hand, will get nothing from me.  Go here for all your answers.

Mikey D's Finding Nemo review:

Featuring the voices of Hank Scorpio, Anne Heches' ex of the female variety, Ray Romano's brother on Everyone Loves Raymond and the Green Goblin from Spider-man, among others, the latest Pixar film was an enjoyable film, bright with colors and texture.  The underwater scenes were breathtaking.

I'm not going to spoil anything, but the film deals with Hank Scorpio's over protective character, Marlin, trying to find his lost son, Nemo.  Along with Anne Heche's ex, he gets into mishap after mishap, adventure after adventure.

You don't need kids to see this one, its an enjoyable film for adults as well (just ask me and the wife, who are kidless).  Try to keep an eye out for the typical Pixar cameos (Buzz, "Yo" truck, etc.)  And stay until the end of credits for a few suprises (which I found about today), which unfortunely we missed due to the wife's incredible small bladder (The movie isn't that long)

While nothing will compare to the original Toy Story and so far all the Pixar films have been excellent, this one ranks fourth (just above A Bug's Life, IMO.

A definite must see in the theater and a super must buy on DVD.

Just heard Sammy got suspended for 8 games.  Mistake or intentional, you knew that was coming.

And I also agree that Rose should be in the HOF.  Hopefully his lifetime ban will be lifted soon (all I hear he has to do is apologize).  I wonder, if and when the ban is lifted, would it tarnish him so much that he wouldn't be a first ballot inductee?

I own exactly one 12" figure, the Han and Tauntaun.  However, when I find him, this bad boy is coming home to my apartment.  He will be a centerpiece in my eventual Gammorean Guard collection (which I haven't gotten around to starting yet, unless you count the POTF2 fig and the Applause figural mug.  Maybe buying this will jump start that collection)

JD Sports Forum! / Re: Brian Urlacher Signs 9-yr Deal!
« on: June 6, 2003, 12:59 PM »
I agree that Urlacher is a great LB, but don't you think the absent of Roosevelt Colvin would hurt his production and vice versa?

Colvin signed with the Pats, which is excellent for us, because he's a top notch player, especially in the run stopping department, which is where the Pats sucked last year.  But from what I'm hearing, the reason they were both so good is that they played off each other's strengths and weaknesses.

I saw it, but really wasn't paying attention.  I'll probably catch it again during one of the hundreds of repeats MTV shows.  I fell asleep so I missed Gollum, which I want to see now.

« on: June 6, 2003, 12:47 PM »
I'm still reading Debt of Honor by Tom Clancy.  I'm almost finished with it, only about another 80 pages or so.  After that, it will be the quick read (2 days max) of SW: Force Heretic II: Refugee.  After that and in perfect time, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which is finally almost here after 3+ years.  Can't wait.

Can't let this thread die to the depths of page 2 ;)

Posh Spice.  The Spice Girls are a somewhat guilty pleasure of mine.  Now ordinarily, their type of music is not my style, but some of their songs have the habit of getting stuck in your head.
