Other Collectibles / Magazines
« on: February 25, 2005, 10:05 AM »
I like to collect mags with DEDICATED SW covers, but while perusing the stand the other day, I came across a mag with a stormtrooper in the upper left corner.

It turned out to be The ROmantic Times Book Club magazine. Romantic Novelist Suzanne Enoch is a big SW collector and has a 2 page spread on her collection.

Never in a million yrs. would I have ever thought I'd see SW on the cover of a romantic book club magazine.  :-*

Collections / bobafett14 collection pics
« on: January 22, 2005, 03:33 PM »
OK, been woking on getting pics up somehow, so I setup a photobucket account and threw some pics in for starters.

www.photobucket.com  and then I think you just have to put in bobafett14 as a username to view.  Everyhting should be set.

So feel free to peruse.

The pics are kinda basic, and this will probably be a work in progress, as I can't get half my stuff in pics.  (I have over 4,000 items scattered all over the house)

Most of the pics are collection pics, and some pics from certain SW events, C2, Disney, SD comicon, etc. etc.

Enjoy, I'll probably be updating quite a bit as the months go by.

Other Collectibles / ROTS Cards
« on: December 31, 2004, 06:29 PM »
Got the Topps ROTS promo packet today, the folder has a new Anakin pic I have yet to see until now, I'm assuming it's P2 or something.

Also, have some Topps P1's (Jesse, I'll be passing them out at the PSWCS Jan. meeting on the 15th)

The set looks great, I especially like the Anakin/Vader lenticular-I'm also assuming that's gonna be the one everyone wants.

Front: A force to be Reckoned with/The merchandising event of a lifetime
(seems to coincide with the CIII theme) also the artwork seems to be the same as the figs, and everything else, so everyting looks to be all the same artwork across the board with all the mdse. I've seen so far. vs. in the past, everthing seemed to have different artwork/color schemes, etc.

Also, interesting that there's a blurb in the inside cover that states "There are over 80million active SW fans in the U.S. alone"

and "Promotional & licensing partners include Burger King, Pepsi, M&M's, Kellogg's, Hasbro, Lego & Del Rey"

Conventions / Pittsburgh's "Steel City Con" Toy & Collectible Show
« on: October 1, 2004, 01:24 AM »
For anyone in the Pgh. area:

The December show will be the first weekend in Dec. as always.  Dec. 4-5, 2005. Only about 2 months away.

Jesse and I had a pretty good time at the last one.  Any questions, feel free to email me  bobafett.fourteen@verizon.net.  Usually some good SW finds, and usually get together w/the PA SW Collecting Society, and we almost always end up dragging our butts to Hooters at some point (usually Sat. afternoon/eve.)

Collector's Tips / fig care-hairspray
« on: August 8, 2004, 10:26 AM »
I have my upstairs wall covered in figs in protecto packs.  One thing I noticed this week while dusting the cases off is that the ones right outside the bathroom door had a huge buildup of what appeared to be dust, it actually ened up being the wife's hairspray reside(basically a white dust)

I used a wet paper towel to wipe the cases, but I noticed a few no matter how much you wiped, a few of the cases had kind of a "rough" feel to them on top, so it appears that the hairspray may actually break down(or blend into) the plastic ever so slightly.

So,  gotta remember to try to keep any figs/bubbles away from hairspray.

Just an FYI.

Newbies / Well hello there!
« on: July 18, 2004, 10:58 AM »
Finally decided to register, been bookmarked for a while now.

I've known Jesse James for a while, he's been over my place a few times for a few SW get togethers.  Briefly, I'm 32, married, I pretty much travel the east US hiring brokers to represent our company.  Have a home in Pittsburgh.  Western PA contact for the PA SW Collectors Society www.pswcs.com I also frequent www.thejawa.net/pitswcc

Currently have over 3600 SW items in the collection both modern and vintage.  Lots of vintage figures both carded and loose, lots of the vintage vehicles/playsets, and all kinds of quirky SW items (I love the oddball stuff)

I also am kind of a SW packrat-I love to collect stuff like articles/ads/etc.  Also do all the posters/comics/and really anything SW.

Love to attend the cons WW/San Diego/Pgh toyshows-comicons/San Diego CC/ and the Celebrations!

MTFBWY!
