Title: Indiana Jones & SDCC 2007

I cant wait to see the pics from the Hasbro panel, very nice to get them in Star Wars scale!  ;D

Yeah I'm quite simply relieved at the scale being 3.75"-4" as it should be.  I just now am banking on quality.  SA or no?  I'm hoping SA.

I share your hope Jesse for the SA aspect, but honestly, doing these in this scale at all and not some Unleashed, big or small, scale is such an overwhelming relief.  They're welcome to do those too, but I won't give a tinkers damn about them either way.

I'm really, truly excited about the possibility of these toys.  There's so much they can do and hopefully do well too.  Even the generally "bad" SW figures in this scale that have come out lately are still ok by me, with due acknowledgement to your peeves.

The bad news is now I'll probably go and gather up a vintage collection as well :-X

RS (http://www.rebelscum.com/SDCC07/Hasbropanel/image62.asp) has some pics up from Hasbro's presentation of the sneak preview.  The figures look pretty good to me, hopefully we'll get some clearer pics soon.

It's difficult to tell from the one shot, but that 3 3/4" Indy looks pretty damn good.

Can't wait to see the up-close pics from their booth, later today. . .

Thanks for posting those pics from SSG Matt, those are much clearer.  Looking good so far though, can't wait to see closer/clearer pics from the booth, like you mentioned.  The Galactic Hero-esque figures look neat too.

The Galactic Hero-esque figures look neat too.

Yeah, they're a riot, aren't they?

That's possibly the most-adorable Angel of Death toy ever released.

Strange there's no Marion, though. . .

Strange there's no Marion, though. . .

Fear not, they'll milk this line to death as well.  Every figure that gets 3.75" release will show up there too, only slower.  But you knew that.

The only item I'll ever get from this toy line will be a 12" doll of Indiana Jones by Sideshow.  I think they all look great but I got sucked into LOTR and now have a rubbermaid tub full of action figures I will never display again.

What I'm really gonna like about this line is that it should be fairly small, and easy to be a completist with, I'd think.  It's just not as toy-friendly a license as Star Wars is, and it's rather limited in nature.  No helmeted troops, really, not too many characters, and not a lot of costume changes.

I'm anticipating that this will be a fun line to collect--and not as much of a chore, like it's cousin has gotten to be over the years. . .

From GH:

Pre-posed legs, with no knee articulation?  Weak.  Good thing the Indy with jacket has articulated knees.

There's our Adventure Heroes Marion.

I guess the no knee articulation Indy is whip action Indy.
I can't wait to get my hands on this line. It also sucks Marion doesn't have articulated knees. They probably did that so they can do another later. *Glares at  Kashyyyk Trooper*

I'll be happy with the jacket Indy as long as he's SA.  The whip action figure would be a pass.  Marion, Belloq and the rest shown are all a big thumbs up!

I won't collect the full line but most of those shown, from ROTLA, are pretty good.  I can't wait to see what Sideshow does, though!

I think I'm going to have to watch the Indy trilogy this weekend.

Yeah that's whip-action Indy...  There's also an SA Indy shipping, so that's cool.  The whip action is about as toyish you can get with a guy in fedora I think.  This line's got to be a collector-friendly one for survival of any length I'm afraid, but there are 4 films to work with here...  So there's some hope for coolness.  I'm excited by the Sallah and Belloq figures which look outstanding, and the Indy Whip is even so-so.

In general I just am happy they're mimicing Star Wars since I'm pretty happy with how that's going at the moment.

These look great!  I wished someone would have asked when tthey were coming out.  I would assume that the figures from the film will be out about a month before the movie (end of April) so maybe these will be out in Feb or March.  Who knows?

Also, I think that the Desert Convoy truck from the 82 line is a pretty great toy, and would look awesome with a new paintjob, and a German driver.

This could be a very cool line, but I agree that it will be over within 18 months.  Short and sweet.

I reall like the Belloq and Sallah.  The Indy from the slide show presentation looked like it was SA?  It have potential.  I will definately get SA Indy, Marion, Sallah and Belloq.  The Monkey Man was kind of cool to.  Not sure if I'll get that though.

Oh, no.  No, no, no!!  They had to go and make this line excellent so I'll spend money on it, didn't they?!

;D  I'm in for that whole set right there, of the action figure line anyway.  I'll pass on the Adventure Heroes though.

I'm still on the edge of my seat waiting for a look at Sideshow's 1:6 scale Indy.

Damn.  I had gotten to a point where I was tapering down what I was collecting outside of Star Wars, and Hasbro springs THIS on us.  Adventure Heroes is an easy pass for me, but the Basic Figures are too cool for school!

I thought I saw something from Hasbro about vehicles, too.  Who knows what Hasbro is going to pull off there.  The only ones I can think of are...

-German Flying Wing (probably too big)
-Horses from Raiders of the Lost Ark & Last Crusade
-Truck to Cairo
-German Sub (obviously WAY too big)
-Dusenberg in Shanghai from Temple of Doom
-Chinese plane from Temple of Doom
-Life raft from Temple of Doom
-Elephant from Temple of Doom
-Mining cars from Temple of Doom
-Train from Last Crusade (obviously way too big)
-Venice boats from Last Crusade
-Biplane from Last Crusade
-Motorcycle with sidecar from Last Crusade
-Tank from Last Crusade

As for Sideshow and Gentle Giant's offerings?  Cool stuff, but I may be able to pass.

Put me down for all of the Indy stuff!  The 3.75" look awesome and I'll even pick up the "Playskool" figures.  Heck, that 12" Hasbro Indy doesn't look half bad either!  Though I am sure SS will easily top it, I will definitely be picking one up!  2008...best year ever ;D

Now don't get me wrong Hasbro has some good stuff in the works, yet non of it is finding its way out on the shelves. By this time last year we were already on wave 4 or wave 5 and now Hasbro has only been able to dish out 3 waves or in my case 2. With 5 more month left to go Hasbro has a lot to catch up on yet they are already talking about next years stuff. Well what about this years stuff, so what we have seen the prototypes now lets see the actual product. Plus (which is a rant more towards hasbro Canada) we are going to miss the last few waves which makes me think at this rate i will be lucky to see wave 4 or 5, which is just dumb. "Yes but this happens to Canada every year" yeah i have heard that before but the only thing i hear when people say that is that Hasbro is making no attempt to fix it.

This is what I'm kind of hoping for as well.  I'm really looking forward to this Indy line, and I hope to collect the whole works too.  I just hope it isn't overly large either, because keeping up with Star Wars alone is enough work sometimes.  Like Matt mentioned, there isn't the helmeted-troops aspect that SW has, so there might not be as much to make there.  There are four movies to choose from, so we'll see, but a nice little 12-18 month line would be just fine with me too.  Heck, I would have been pretty pleased with just that SA jacketed Indy figure, so the fact that we're getting a larger line is just gravy to me.

Nobody can rain on my parade ;D  I have been waiting for some decent Indy toys ever since the vintage line died.  Between Hasbro's line and Sideshow's as well as all the great SW stuff coming next year it will be an awesome year for me!

Sorry to hear about the woes up north though.  I was in Europe (Germany and England) during the ESB, ROTJ, Raiders, and Temple of Doom days and trying to collect over there was a major headache, so I can defintiely feel your pain.

Thanks for responding.

I hate to say it, but if you're in Canada and collecting, you've been getting screwed with every single line that's ever occurred in the modern era.  Every.  Single.  One.  The last waves never make it here, ever.

As for Hasbro fixing things, well, I'm guessing broadly saying "Hasbro" has little meaning.  Hasbro Canada on the other hand could play a role, but they don't seem to care and neither do retailers.  The only store up here carrying any amount of product is TRU but when you combine they're lack of clearancing out old product and Hasbro's nasty habit of shipping whatever they have in stock (old first out, new waits til old waves are sold through), it's not pretty.  Walmart doesn't have any love for the line at all and hasn't for a very long time, since at least AOTC, probably because they were burned badly by excess TPM product.  Zellers is just way too hit and miss.

But you know all that.  I guess all I'm saying is complaining about it hasn't done anything since the last waves of POTF2 freeze frames never made it here.  Find alternate sources (I know, you're young and that makes it harder) either online or through the boards.

But none of that really discounts speedermike's point that 2008 is shaping up to be really nice.  And while we aren't getting the Legends figurs on the pegs the US has, we're only a single wave behind them at the moment other than re-carded figures, so we're not THAT bad.  I'm certain you're correct and it will get worse though.

And apparently Gentle Giant also has the Indy license, so that could be bad news as well.

This all looks great! I will definitely collect this line. I will army build the GH snake, very cute! I like Marion and Indy a lot. My only question is where's Toht? For me to be REALLY excited about this we need a Toht. All in all, very nice stuff!  8)

Toht would be neat since he was important and had an original figure and all, but is that kind of a figure ok in today's world?  I wonder...

Which makes the action-feature Indy with whip all the more strange in my mind.  I'm looking at the line (outside the GH stuff, which is still probably 75% collector driven, the other 25% being collectors with kids) and thinking adults only kind of stuff (no, not naked Marion figures) so that piece is just....odd.

Yeah, Indy's right arm was "spring action".  Not sure if you're familiar with them but it was very in line with some Western figures Kenner made at the time...  Very similar designs, you could tell the same people worked on the two lines.  Indy's holster was made for the "quick draw" feature as well as a whipping action, but the quick draw was only a quick way to lose your inky dinky pistol they gave you. :(

Loved that whip though...  Piece of string with brown tape, haha.
