Wow!  The Sio Bibble is great!

Is that the Ep I head?  It looks slightly...different.

Then again, how would I know, I never actually saw one of those expensive ba$tards!

Excellent customs!  I really must jump on this Clone Wars Obi Wan bandwagon...

oh, wait, I forgot, I suck at customizing!

That Ki Adi Mundi has had one helluva bad day!  But it looks great.

Boy, you really make some excellent Jedi.

I love the Rodian and the bare-arm/armor guy.

And Tholme...not being up on EU at all, I figured this was an original creation.  It looks great, but I cannot comment on its resemblance to any source material.

My only complaint - not too jazzed about the nina-esque headgear on the last Jedi....looks almost too sinister.  But the rest is great, excellent and imaginative use of parts and some stellar painting.

Customs Community and Group Projects / Re: Customizing pod casts?
« on: October 21, 2005, 05:44 PM »
Phurby,

Why don't you make one?  ;)

Chewie,

A "podcast" is a downloadable audio format you get off the internet, which can be played on an MP3 player (like the eponymous iPod) or on your computer.

Many radio stations, like NPR, now feature downloadable podcasts of their radio shows.

Additionally, many, many people have begun putting podcasts on the web, where they can discuss any number of subjects.

Predictably, they are big in the "geek community".  For instance, the movie website chud.com often has podcasts available by the site's contributors, where they wax about various pop cultural events.

Photonovels and Movies / Re: INTERACTIVE Photonovel - UPDATE 10/21!!!
« on: October 21, 2005, 05:10 PM »
Oh!  Nice update!  I'll comment soon on what I'd do, but first I need to think about it some more.

I do have to mention how cool the office was.  That was awesome.  Very detailed, the weapons on the wall and the Twi'lek poster are outstanding.  Little details like that go a long way and add so much realism.

 :P

Thanks, Chewie!

The twi'lek poster is actually one of four "Wanted" posters that hang on that other wall, but it's really the only one which is clearly visible in any of the shots.  The other three depict "tougher" looking types and all the images are stolen, er, borrowed from the site of EUCustomMan.

Additionally, the big green thing on that same wall is supposed to be a surveillance monitor, showing various locations around the station, but it didn't print out very well and the details are nearly impossible to see...oh, well!

Wasn't there also a rumor that they were finally going to come out as figures this year?  And that the actresses had finally signed a release?

LOVE Rykrof in the new armor!!!  I guess he survives Dathomir in time to upgrade his duds... ;)

And excellent Palpatine custom!

Top drawer, as usual, Chewie!

Broken picture fixed!

Sorry about that, folks.

Findswoman, could you elaborate a bit when you say "tinker" with the comlink....  Tinker with the goal of doing what, exactly?

Thanks for the replies so far, guys!

Whoo hooo!  Update time!

Alas, despite my promises, this update isn't really the big step forward I had been hoping.

Instead, most of the update concerns a "meanwhile" scene where you're not present.

I originally planned to show the story exclusively from your perspective, but this scene doesn't really give anything away that you shouldn't already know anyway.

Besides, I think fleshing out some of the other characters might make the game more fun and make it feel more cinematic.

However, as for your current predicament, the course of action we're taking is one suggested initially by Findswoman, which was supported by Darth Delicious, The Spectre,
CorranHorn and NoMercyJoe.

Chewie's suggestion of giving him money was in the same vein and Ryan was up for giving him either.

Oh, and thanks to smartypants for participating, too.  He also agreed with the majority.

Only Diddly was really left out in the cold, overrode by the rest of the group.

And newcomer Jedistyle made the unique suggestion of checking out the Imperial comlink first.

As always, I try to incorporate as many non-contradictory suggestions as possible.

Okay, confession time.  I put the drunk guy in there really for one main reason - to demonstrate the usefuless of your inventory.

You're currently carrying around quite a lot of stuff.  Unlike those old "King's Quest" games, none of those items was designed around a specific use.

So don't be afraid to use that stuff and be creative.  In this case, either using money or the booze to bribe the drunk would have worked, as would have using your toolkit to jigger the elevator yourself.

However, having the drunk on your side may yield more benefits down the line, so giving him the alcohol seems like a good idea.

So thanks to all the players.  Great to have so many returning players and a few newcomers, too!

Now, there really isn't much of a pressing need for input here, since, in the next installment, the drunk will finish fixing the elevator and you'll be on your way.  So jump in if you like, otherwise, I'll just get the next chapter up as soon as possible.

here we go!

Just thought I'd pop in to post the other replies from FFURG before I put up the update:

Newcomer NoMercyJoe had this to say:

Quote
If we did offer him a drink for some intel on how to get to 78 we would be golden.I don't think a poor (hobo) man could attack someone (well not very good anyway.)He's probaly drunk aleady spent all his money on booze and now wants some more

CorranHorn is also on board with the plan and posted this reply:

Quote
I hafta agree with Findswoman that the drunk could be the key to get us where we want to go. Offer him the booze to show us the way to level 78. We just need to keep in mind not to let him follow us too far when we get to lvl 78, because if he hears or sees something, in his drunken stupor he could say the wrong thing to the Imps. We could also use that to our advantage while travelling with him to 78, if we run into anyone who gets in our way, let them deal with the drunk and we can hightail to safer ground.

And The Spectre also chimed in...

Quote
I agree with Findswoman. Offer to give the drunkard some booze in exchange for showing us a way down to the desired level. He appears too drunk to be a real threat and may actually be an asset if he is familiar with the lower levels.

A little out-of-the-box thinking here, but he might actually be a rebel agent in disguise. Our disguise is not exactly the best one ever seen and Callie may have sent him to lead us to our rendevous. I trust her and believe her to be a Rebel or at least a sympathizer to the cause. She may have that Stormie armor and other weapons to give them to the Rebels or to stash it for them. If her office is so well hidden that it's entrance is almost invisible, she may even be running a Rebel safehouse out of her bar.

So it looks like defininte consensus has emerged.  As always, though, I will try to incorporate as many elements of the replies as possible, if there are no direct contradictions.

Thanks very much for the great responses, it's terrific to have so many returning veterans and newcomers!

Stay tuned....

Star Wars Action Figures / Re: Darth Teloc - Sith Lord

WOW!

Awesome!  Very imaginative.  I love it.

And the best part - I have all of those pieces in my custom fodder drawer!!!!

I may just rip off this idea (only problem is I can't paint to save my life...)

What is the emblem on top of the V piece, though? That's not from Xyber 9!

HOLY MOLEY!!!!

 :o :o :o :o

Absolutely breathtaking!!!

This looks even better than Starconstrux.

You have topped yourself again, Owen....take a bow....

One question....will you ever do a second half?

403
Great job on the new figures!

The AT RT driver is great, especially considering how hard it is to make white paint look good.

I know most people seem to be into "weathered" figures, but I prefer 'em clean.  I wish the real guy looked like this instead of the camo version.

This is a GREAT Clone Wars Obi Wan....GREAT, GREAT....great....

nothing to say here, nothing constructive or critical...just praise.  Fantastic job!

As promised, here are a couple of diagrams showing the various locations we've been so far and their relation to each other.

The Commerce Level, your current position, is technically Level 1, but, as you can see in the second map, it is NOT the highest level on the station.  The upper levels, which are restricted (hence the two guards outside the elevators to them) are not numbered in the conventional way.  The second, top view image better shows the upper portions of the station.  The building-like structures in the center are considered part of that restricted upper area.

Level 29 is where your uncle's quarters are and Level 40 is where the ship is (as well as many other hangars).  Though there was a reference to the ship being in "Bay D- 37", the 37 was not meant to reflect the level the hangar is on, but just the number of the hangar on Level 40.

Level 78, your destination, is far below you, towards the bottom of the station.

As such, the other set of elevators, (the ones with the guards) will not take you there, they go up only.

It seems like a consensus of opinion has begun to emerge about the next move, but hopefully we can get a little more input before the next chapter.  I know this isn't the most exciting update to reply to, the next ones will be better..... :)
