Watto's Junk Yard / Re: If You Lost Your Collection....
« on: July 6, 2005, 10:56 AM »
I nearly lost my vintage collection to a fire once. Some ships and my DeathStar got smoke damaged and a little warped and few odds and ends seemed to have vaporized. but 99% of it was okay.

If I actually lost my entire collection in the near future, I would hang it up for now. However, I would make it a goal to re-aquire it down the road if I get ahead financially.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Lucas and the Prequels
« on: July 6, 2005, 10:42 AM »
he shouldn't blame Jar Jar on filler, that was just stupid. Just take the moronic way of speaking away from Jar Jar and the Gungans in general.  Think about it, just how much better it would have been!

Not much better. Dialogue is one thing, character development is another and that's Jar Jar's major flaw, the character goes nowhere. What would have helped Jar Jar is if he would have done something proactive in the final battle. In stead of bumbling around, he could have done something intentional to take out some droids showing that he actually learned something durring his time with the Jedi.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Movies Should be able to stand alone!
« on: July 6, 2005, 10:33 AM »
Not needed, because from Lucas' point of view he had always been coughing.

And the opening scroll was probably written long before the cartoon.

It was. He suggested to the CW creators that season two should be based on the opening scroll.

Revenge of the Sith / Figure Fun Facts!
« on: July 5, 2005, 02:57 PM »
This might be lame, but then again...

The "500" Vader figure got me to pondering all kinds of crazy things and though it might be fun if everyone shared all kinds of pointless trivia about the figures. For example, the 500 Vader is the 26th 3 3/4" Vader sclupt/paint varient:

Double Telescoping
Regular Vintage
POTF2
SOTE 2-pack
FX
Final Duel
Board game
FF removable Helmet
Complete Galaxy
Gunner station
Comm Tech
25th Anniversary/C3
Dagobah
Emperor's throne room
MOTS/HOF
Flashback
Toy Fair
Bespin
Imperial forces
Throne room duel
TRU silver
VOTC
Lava
ROTS
Deluxe
500 Vader

Not including packaging variations.

What have you got? Mix it up a little.

Episode 1 / Wave 2 accessory sets
« on: July 5, 2005, 12:55 PM »
Did you get 'em? These were arguably the most dificult E1 items to track down and the least talked about. I myself have one complete loose set and half of a carded set. How did you guys fare and what were your thoughts on these? Where did you even find them? My first set came from a Latino Department store. The carded peices I just scored on e-bay.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: More articulation!
« on: July 5, 2005, 12:37 PM »

A rubber band waist section like GI Joe has, is KING!

It is perfection!!!

Not really. Hasbro has made all of the elements to replicate the Gi-joe waist without usuing the rubber band, they just have yet to put them all on one figure. The SA clones and the VOTC stomie has a specially articulated torso and the Clone Gunner has the ball jointed hips. I think if one would swap out the legs of a SA clone with that of the Gunners, you would have the most articulated SW figure possible.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS Figure Sales (or price hikes)!
« on: July 5, 2005, 12:31 PM »
I look at it this way, we got the first 50 plus army builders for about $5. Paying and extra buck for the remaining 6 isn't as bad as it could have been.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Can Sith Beat Titanic?

I'm changing my guess to $371. Just dosen't look like it'll make it much longer.

Hey!? They don't let you change your bet in Vagas do they? :P Your original guess will be counted. ;)

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: What's a Bootleg Clones?
« on: July 4, 2005, 10:10 PM »
Aside from the fact that the sculpts are a bit off, I like these better than the three packs. Funny how they were designed with removable helmets, makes you think ROTS ones could be on the way.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: What's Your Ethnicity?
« on: July 4, 2005, 10:02 PM »
I used to think I was 75% Irish and 25% German, but over ten years ago when my Great Uncle passed away, we found immigration documents indicating that my Dad's side of the family immigrated from Poland around the time of the Russian revolution. In fact, we found out our family name was shorted for pernunciation purposes.

So I'm, 50% Irish, 25% German and 25% Polish.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: So how many times have you seen it?
« on: July 4, 2005, 09:56 PM »
I still only saw it three times, but I just saw Batman with my buddy who saw it 7 time for various reasons. He really loved it on opening day, but by the seventh time, he completely turned his view around. :-\

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Movies Should be able to stand alone!

All the gasping and coughing like he can't stand up...then blam he's all the sudden healthy and vigorous.

Do you have the same problem with Yoda?

I wished they'd explained more definitely about Syfo Dius and Tyrannus and how that worked.  I know they let you know Dooku is Tyrannus in AotC.

Leaving things open ended from the moive for the EU to take up is fine, I don't think they should do it backwards.

I don't think they went backwards at all. In fact they couldn't because Lucas certailny doesn't consider anything in the EU as fodder, having the blue jedi girl was a miracle. Lucas had no idea that the CW series was going to add the origin of the cough. He just told the creators that he has this cough. Sounds like you're just frustrated that these things didn't get explained. That's why I don't pay attention to the EU.

With all the problems that ROTS from a craftmanship POV, these aren't even issues.

I don't have cable TV (but I am on the net via cable modem,) so I only got to see the ABC performance and they only showed one song from each performer. For Pink Floyd, it was "Money" which was a bummer for two reasons: 1, Waters did't sing and 2, "Money" is my least favorate Pink Floyd song of all time. I love every other peice of music they ever recorded.

Incidently, they censored "BS" by faking an audio mistake. Quite amusing.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Movies Should be able to stand alone!
« on: July 3, 2005, 11:15 PM »
I can't believe I'm going to do this, but I dissagree to an extent. In a way, the movies work well as stand alone films. Infact, each one is quite good on it's own to varying degrees. I mean, Greivous, Syfo Dius, Lord Tyrannus, what do we really want to know? Who really care's who Syfo Dius is? The fact that we don't know adds to the mythology. Greivious was just a pooly executed character, no amount of back story could have fixed what was on screen. Tyrannus, he's just the bad guy, that's all we need to know and he was handled adequately, but not great (in ROTS.)

The problem I have is that when the movies are connected togeather, they fall apart. Concepts are introduced and then contradicted or not consistant in theme, mood or rythum.
