That's quite the line up of of errmm...new and exciting characters you have there....
Really hope there's a little more to be revealed for the first batch...
-
The 5 POA figures continue to improve in quality. Amazing sculpts. Qi'ra looks like she just walked out of a mall in 1987. Hopefully we see the red cape Space Danyers version too. I suppose Luke is a good repack, since he sells so well. K2... I don't know. Might be ok. I'd rather see new figures from the new film at launch. If we're going to cover old ground, let's clean up some characters we missed.
-
Qi'ra and Chewbacca actually look pretty good, 5POA aside. Glad to see them follow through with the TLJ version of Maz, although a ROTS or TSC style hologram figure might have been more scene appropriate.
TLJ Luke seems to be selling reasonably well. I haven't seen that figure linger much. And a Force Link version of K-2SO might be cool considering the potential voice samples.

K2... I don't know. Might be ok.
Force link is nice, but honestly I'll be buying this one just for the blaster. :-[
I like the new Chewie with his new (old) Bandolier and non-bowcaster rifle. I wonder if this movie will give us the origin of the bowcaster for Chewie too? :P
-
I didn't even see the blaster. Sigh. I suppose he could be just another random K2 droid. I already have a couple extras though.
-
Qi'ra looks like she just walked out of a mall in 1987.
100%. She looks like your average hipster... nothing Star Wars-y about it.
-
I like the sort of American Graffiti aesthetic in some of the designs here - Han's Speeder, some of the looks - but this Qi'ra might be a little too plain. But, it's all cool. I just want to say, the movie might not be that good and could have done without it, but the toys are going to be fun (for the most part) and I'm geeking today like I haven't in a while.
-

You guys took the words right out of my mouth. Was there no money left in the budget for even a halfway imaginative wardrobe? I hope the character is more interesting than she looks.
-
Let the 3 months before the movie is released and we have any clue about the movie badmouthing begin.
That's why we "like" Star Wars right?
-
Qui Ra looks not too dissimilar but too much like the chick from Tosche Station whose name is slipping my mind right now. Or compare her clothes to Aunt Beru. I wouldn’t say she doesn’t look Star Wars for what the precedent is.
K2 was the best selling 5poa Rogue One figure as I recall outside of maybe the last difficult to get waves. I know he didn’t linger, especially on sale, around me. Luke I can get fairly easily but I also get why they’re packing him in. Seeing some basics of the other main characters would’ve been cool though. Maz I dunno. A backpack and gun won’t get me to buy but the new Han Solo figures I may get them all.
I love that Chewbacca has rots style Wookiee bandoliers. Not enough applaus for that nod to the prequels in his design.

Are we talking about Camie?

My issue here is that of the 5 characters revealed for the Solo basic line, only 2 are new, and only 1 is a completely new character. For a movie opening line there's a lot of old here, which isn't likely to help out in the whole first wave usually gets over shipped department. Hoping there's a few more to be revealed at Toy fair to round out the wave and make it a bit more interesting. Seems to me like they should make wave 1 strong with all the heavy hitter characters so you can have the cast at film launch.

Yeah Camie. Camie and Fixer. It's hell to get old Rob.
-
Yeah Camie. Camie and Fixer. It's hell to get old Rob.
I know... I retain less of this than probably anyone here. If it weren't for all you guys, and mostly Jeff and Jayson I wouldn't have any idea what the hell was going on in this hobby.
-
Qi'ra is going to be the new pegwarmer of this line. But they have to push whatever female character there is now or else the media will blast them for it. With that said I will probably buy both the 6 inch and this version :-*
It may not be a bad idea for Hasbro to incorporate some figures from the past few films. I just wish they were new or what was limited such as Raddus.
-
I really like the looks of these too, I'm definitely in for the Solo figures. I do hope we get a little more off the bat than three figures, but I think we will. I know there was a 2 pack shown in Germany including Lando, so that's great too. I wonder if we will get a big launch for these? I know it has been rumored, but I know for Rogue One stores kind of put them out whenever around here, unlike the Saga movies.

Mimban Troopers look cool. Remind me of the Hawkbat Batallion Clones from many many moons ago. Even the basic looks neat and worth picking up a few.

What do you think about the right elbow? Articulation or moulded that way?
-
Without having the FO flametrooper handy to look at I'm thinking maybe a single extra joint. Either way it's not good enough but it's also not an impossible articulation mod either.
-
Anybody else surprised or disappointed by the wave 1 breakdown Yakface posted earlier today? I'm stupefied by the fact there is no basic Han Solo, and only four figures from the film at all. I know there are TVC figures coming and the 2 packs, but this is the weakest launch they have ever done. I know Hasbro has said 5 POA will continue along side TVC, but clearly there's some rerouting of resources.

I think it's likely due to the fact that this one is releasing six months after the last film, unlike Rogue One and TLJ which were each a year after the last one - and TFA which they had even more time to prepare for.
-
I think the lack of a basic Han Solo is a strategic business move by Hasbro. Because there are versions of Han Solo, but at higher price points: with the Force Link 2.0, in the TVC line, in the 2-packs and very likely with the landspeeder. Frankly, I think that sucks.

Agree 100%. You also left off the Han that comes with the $99 Millenium Falcon.
You gotta pay for Solo.

I know Yakface has an awesome list of all the upcoming goodies, but is there a resource that breaks down what is new vs. repacks? I've seen that for the TVC figs, but not for the basic figs.

All the basic 3 3/4" figures have the !NEW! Force Link II feature so they're all new, technically. Even Especially Jyn Erso.

I've lost interest in refreshed Force Link features and consider those repacks at this point.

So I assume we are getting no Solo figures or toys at TRU this year.

That would be my guess as well - if any of those items hit the TRU distribution warehouses, I'm sure the product is either now or will be soon, making a return trip to the Hasbro distribution hub where it came from.

Force Link 2.0 Solo Figure – “Hades Joker” [NEW]
Force Link 2.0 Solo Figure – “Vesta Driver” – Imperial Patrol Driver [NEW]
-
So if that turns out to be true, then I really must question the logic behind this. Bog down the first 3 waves with repacks and all the new stuff in wave 4? Why not simply release 2 waves with all the new stuff and call it quits for the Solo line and move on. Why drag it out so much? Retail is already drowning in and clearancing most of these repack figures. The demand has clearly been satiated. Just seems like a recipe to create an unnecessary backlog.
-
That Wave 3 sucks out loud...
-
I'd say the answer to that is simply Hasbro is a tanker in terms of maneuverability and demand/perceived demand requires faster steering to avoid the issues. I'm assuming the waves were planned out long ago and it was too late to make changes on some of those. :-\
-
I'd say the answer to that is simply Hasbro is a tanker in terms of maneuverability and demand/perceived demand requires faster steering to avoid the issues. I'm assuming the waves were planned out long ago and it was too late to make changes on some of those. :-\
Even so, whoever is doing the planning is being "penny wise, pound foolish" including as many repacks as possible to keep overall case production costs/overhead down and just making unwise decisions for the overall health of the line, and they've been doing it for quite some time.
Things aren't great at retail and the Star Wars toy line hasn't been doing that great since The Force Awakens - that is more than enough time to plan things better.
Here's what they keep getting wrong:
- Seven figures in a case that holds 12 - right there planning has failed - they need to be making choices that allow online retailers to sell full and half cases easily.
- Carry forward figures that do not include any value or reason to pick up said figure - in Wave 1, I'm looking at TLJ Luke
- Expecting the sub-line to go beyond two waves with any level of success
* TFA - 3 waves, third barely made it to retail, ended up being dumped at Five Below
* RO - 4 waves, third barely made it to retail, fourth ended up being online exclusive and most collectors got third wave online too
* TLJ - 3 waves, third ended up being only partially made available online, never at retail
The whole point of these 5POA figures was that it kept their development costs down. If that's the truth, cases of figures should contain 12 figures, 2 sets of 6, with three or four of those 6 being new figures and the remaining being repacked/refreshed figures.
So...
Wave 1:
Qi’ra (Corellia) [NEW]
Chewbacca [NEW]
Range Trooper [NEW]
Stormtrooper (Mimban) [NEW]
K-2SO [refreshed RO figure with Force Link and new blaster]
Maz Kanata [refreshed TFA figurewith Force Link and jetpack/backpack]
Wave 2:
Moloch [NEW]
“Artemis” – Tobias Becket [NEW]
Princess Leia (Hoth) [NEW]
Luke Skywalker (Jedi Master) [TLJ repack]
Supreme Leader Snoke [TLJ repack]
Kylo Ren [TLJ repack]
Wave 3:
“Artemis Trooper 1” – Rio Durant [NEW]
“Artemis Trooper 2” – Val [NEW]
“Medusa” – L3-37 [NEW]
“Zeus Scout – Brown” – Mudtrooper [NEW]
Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight) [repack from Target 3-pack]
Royal Guard [repack from Target 3-pack]
Wave 4:
“Hades Joker” [NEW]
“Vesta Driver” – Imperial Patrol Driver [NEW]
“Perseus” – Quay Tolsite [NEW]
Darth Vader [probably RO repack]
Rey (Jedi Training) [TLJ repack]
First Order Stormtrooper [TLJ repack]
Wow - look at that, I didn't omit or leave any figures out from the list - every case has three or four new figures in it and each wave is 6 figures.
-
Not sure is who self-sabotaging Star Wars more, Hasbro or Disney.
I recall retail demands refresher waves with new stuff, but retail (WAL-MART) doesn't restock, so they want more bricks but won't give the straw. Or some other clumsy metaphor.
Good thing HasbroToyShop will always have the latest waves in stock... :D
-
So I assume we are getting no Solo figures or toys at TRU this year.
They had the best Force Fridays.
-
Just dropping in to say can't wait for the Mudtrooper figure.
-
New pics today gave us a new alien character (SPOILERS):

Damn you, sexy Wookie costumes! I can't unsee them... :D
-
Anyone have an in at Target that is sure this stuff will be on the sales floor this Friday at Target? The toys are blocked with a 4/20 message. And the planogram is listed as 4/15. Which if things haven't changed means it gets set that week sometime. Fitting 4/20 not 4/13
-
I'm stupefied by the fact there is no basic Han Solo
The more I look over things, the more it sticks out that there are no basic carded Han figures. Han with Force Link scanner; Han with Landspeeder, Han/Chewie 2-pack; Han with Falcon; Black Series 6" Han; TVC Han, 12" Hero Series Han - but nothing for the basic 5POA figure line (yet)?
Never in a million years would I have guessed that I'd be adding zero new carded Han figures to my carded basic figure Han Solo collection for the HAN SOLO movie. :-X
-
It boggles the mind... I can see them wanting to make the Force Link and TVC versions a little more desirable by not competing with them in the main line, but give us something. Fur Coat Han or something. Who I figure will show in the inevitable Entertainment Pack. Since I'm speculating wildly and I dig what I'm seeing from this movie, early guess at the four pack:
Han (Fur Coat)
Qi'Ra (Heist Jacket Thing)
Dryden Voss
Some Alien (Six Eyes or Therm Scissorpunch)
-
I know it screws with your Han collection Jeff, but from a collector perspective I'm kinda glad there isn't a single carded Han if we're already getting four other versions.
I'm not sure how many outfits he has on in this movie (seems to be at least three significantly different ones from the trailer), but if its a lot, it would have been cool to have him in a basic outfit on a basic card.
-
I haven't seen any leaked 4" figures on pegs, but at Target today, I did see NOT SCOUT TROOPER in Hasbro's 12" line, whose name I forgot. Patrol Trooper? that's it.
There's no thread for that stuff.
-
There was one seller at C2E2 who had some... he wanted $12, I passed.
-
So from those wave packs there is no reason to ever pick up figures at retail since they will never get beyond wave 2.
-
Some figures have leaked in my area. I haven't seen them personally, but they're going to turn up soon enough. There's certainly no need to go crazy finding them. Especially since both Target and WalMart are likely to have sales that will attempt to undercut each other for the rollout.
-
Did a little looking around at the figures and discovered that K 2SO is a very slight re-paint; the orange shoulder markings are more yellowish and for some reason, some of the sculpting details seem crisper. Definitely enough for me to buy another for opening.
-
I see there's a report on RS.com someone found wave 2 at a grocery store. They have pics of Molloch, Leia and Snoke. They left a Kylo Ren.
A) Is Snoke a straight up repack of the playset one?
B) It says Kylo is masked. What TLJ repack would that be?
-
There was a masked Kylo Ren shown at NYCC at those private Hasbro sessions, but there weren't any good images of it. But the word that I've seen about that version of Kylo Ren is that it's a repack of the figure that was released with the first Force Link gauntlet.
And yes, Snoke is a repack of the figure that was released with the playset. But like every other new figure it seems to have the Force Link 2.0 chip.
-
Kylo is a repack of the Force Link set, which I just bought at Target for $3.74. Along with Hoth Leia, who is the best version of this character they've ever done and Moloch, who is hands down the best alien figure of the Disney era. He has a very PT quality and the figure itself is weighty, intricate and very, very well done.
-
Found a case of wave 2 on the pegs at Target today, the cards all crinkled on the right side. I picked up Hoth Leia and Moloch. Great figures on both counts.
Leia is the upgrade I didn't know I needed, and all the fun little details oh Moloch have me anticipating the character in the movie next week in ways that remind me of getting Admiral Ackbar early in 1983.
-
I found Wave 2 as well - was incredibly disappointed to find that the Moloch figure had two right hands. I ended up returning it to the store. I had opened him up and completely cut the bubble from the cardback so fingers-crossed that there's no way they're gonna just tape it back on and put it back on the shelves.
-
Where are the Solo figures?! That movie was great and they've made what, a dozen 3.75" figures? I haven't bought the Falcon or the Forcelink thing-y, so I don't even have a Han
yet...
Are we expecting a bunch of reveals at Toy Fair this year?
Also, is there anything new about the wave 2 Kylo Ren other than the chip?
-
Anybody know Target's plans to get rid of the TLJ figures? Its kind of annoying to roll in to the store looking for Solo figures and see overflowing pegs with Rose, Hux, etc. from TLJ. I wish they would just clearance those out.
Or is it the case the the Solo assortment is going to be short lived with a new combo / generic SW line coming out soonish that will keep using the same DPCI?
-
I've had the same thought, but what are they going to fill it in with? TLJ is only a half year old. If they want to devote that much space to Star Wars I don't think they have a choice.
How long was TFA on the shelf til it clearanced?
-
I think TFA was on the shelf for a year until it was replaced by RO, which was on the shelf for a year until it was replaced by TLJ.
I think part of the challenge is that it has only been six months between movie and figure line releases.
Unfortunately TLJ stuff has gotten super stale. It would be another thing if they were still releasing assortments to keep this line going, but its been 5 months since a new figure came out from that line.
-
The waves for Solo are kind of crazy. Wave 3 is pretty much OT/re-release characters and wave 4 is the rest of the Solo figures. Good ones, too. I'm worried because the final wave has been the hardest to come by.
-
The waves for Solo are kind of crazy.
Hasbro isn't doing themselves any favors with the current character selection matrix (more Kylo! more Rey! more Poe! more Finn!) but Disney isn't helping them with the crazy release schedules.
Rogue One was planned to be a short line since TLJ was coming May 2018... then TLJ got bumped and Rogue One line felt incomplete. Now SOLO is coming just 5 months after TLJ and it feels like both lines ended up short changed - TLJ stuff hasn't been on the pegs long enough to clearance and is kind of eating up space that could go to SOLO.
The whole thing is pretty diseased and hopefully with no new Star Wars movie until Dec 2019, there will be enough time to get some more figures from both TLJ and SOLO to the stores. The "final wave" for the TLJ/Solo stuff shouldn't happen until next spring at least...

Agreed with this assessment, and I hope they can sort themselves out in the "downtime" between movie releases.
I can't and won't let Hasbro off the hook for bungling stuff, though. The fact that Last Jedi got bumped back six months on the schedule, yet Hasbro still had to scrap the last wave of Rogue One toys they had planned and put into production tells me everything I need to know about it where fault sits.
-
I read through the guides and visual dictionaries for the new movies and I kind of just shake my head at the enormous fun and creative creatures, droids and aliens that we will never see. I know the schedule of the movies has limited Hasbro, but they aren't taking advantage of the opportunities they have. When you launch a movie line with four 3.75 figs from the film, none of which are the man himself, you have to question what in the world they're thinking. The 5 POA line seems to be slowing down, which is a shame because it's a great line that gets better all the time. I'd love to see Hasbro get back to making what made SW figures fun for so long - lots of new, weird and strange stuff.
-
When you launch a movie line with four 3.75 figs from the film, none of which are the man himself, you have to question what in the world they're thinking.
Hasbro has a share of the blame, but Disney and their dumb "you can't show character X until [date]" rules aren't helping. We saw L3-37 in the commercials and trailers, what is the harm in showing her 3.75" action figure? Same for Val, Beckett, Rio, etc. It's like Hasbro can't really do any promotion on these things until it's too late. Stupid.
But yeah, character selection is so, so bad right now. That's mostly on Hasbro (though again, Disney isn't helping with all the dumb rules). The character selection is fraught with so many odd, odd, odd choices:
- Still no 3.75" TFA General Leia? Huh?
- TLJ Crait Luke not coming until maybe 2019 now?
- Repacking the ROTJ Palps and Jedi Luke from the Target pack so quickly?
- Just 5 SOLO characters in the first two waves of the toy line supporting the SOLO movie
- You can't buy a 3.75" HAN SOLO figure in a toy line supporting the HAN SOLO movie for less than $30.
- SOLO Wave 3 is rumored to be all repacks of not-SOLO figures
The 5POA 3.75" basic figure line seems so broken right now. Doesn't help that things are fractured across 5POA, TVC, and 6" lines. Ugh.
Back in the old days, I'd be learning all the names of the aliens at the Vandor sabaac table (Therm Scissorpunch!) so I could put them on my JD wishlist and dream of figures for them. These days, I don't even bother. I'm just hoping the basic figure line lasts long enough to fill out the main characters (L3, Val, Beckett, Rio, etc) before we're moving on to more of the same Jedi Rey, Pilot Poe, Trooper Finn, Tech Rose, Sad Kylo figures from Episode 9. :(
-

Nods vigorously. I was making wishlists up until now. Which is a shame, because this is by far the most 'toyetic' film of the Disney era. If this were 2005ish, we'd be complaining about there being too many figures (but not really).
Figs like Therm, Galacus, Weazel, any number of Qu'ra's, Mud Troopers, droids, I can go on... deep sigh.

Yeah, we'd have received a different Battle Pack with 4-5 figures every three months. Vandor Sabaac. Enfys Nest's Swoop Gang. Kessel Mine Prison Break.

Agreed 100%. It used to be that a film launch had 20 or 30 figures easily, then there was a steady stream of waves from there on for a long time... there was a good mix of main and obscure characters... prices dropped a little bit. I suppose it's-not-2005-anymore applies here too, but it's just a shame that they can't identify more interesting characters and get a good chunk of them out by the time the movie happens instead of later on when interest is fading. Every figure we know about that is still upcoming would have made a great day-one release, and then they could have gotten into more interesting characters later - if it was allowed. At least with Vintage coming back there's some hope for high-quality, interesting, and maybe even NEW characters coming in the future. I hope they have a lot to show at Comic Con, I miss the days when there were lots of reveals at the conventions.
Also, I don't know where we'd get numbers, but I wonder how much of this is that 6" is cannibalizing 3.75" collecting and the volume of the product is down because new collectors are split up between scales.
-
I want to make sure what I mean comes across here. I'm obnoxious about my dislike of the irrational fans who are boycotting Disney over TLJ, etc. I say that as I'll argue til the cows come home about this.
I am onboard with the confusion and anger at how Hasbro has handled character choice and assortments, etc. (ie I'm not here to argue this). Though I think Disney's release schedule and "black outs" have seriously handcuffed Hasbro.
But the negativity on Star Wars and collecting in general is wearing me down. I don't know if others feel that way. I'm far from done collecting. Only the grim reaper will get me to that point, but it's just really hard to mix the enjoyment I get in my collection with the bigger world of how people feel about it.
Anyway, as we were.
-
I am very worn down, too. Just in general, but I feel like this wonderful thing I used to escape to is now as messed up as what I'm trying to get away from. Specifically on the collecting, it hasn't been fun for awhile. It has peaks and valleys. I generally enjoy what we get from Hasbro, but as others have said, it's a far cry from what it could be or maybe should be. The past is the past and it will never be the good old days again, but at the same time, it can be more. I loved Solo, it's a great movie for toys and I appreciate what we've gotten. I see what Funko or Lego is doing with this same property, and I just think Hasbro isn't capitalizing on the same potential. I know there are a lot of factors (Infinity War is probably Hasbro's priority right at the moment) and on and on, but anyways. Maybe this fall going into the winter will bring a lot more goodness.
-
I'm glad that I am not the only one feeling this way. I have also been feeling a little run down by the state of things lately, both collecting and the general state of fandom. Like Darby mentioned, it has peaks and valleys, and generally I'm pretty happy with what we get from Hsbro, we just don't get enough.
We really had a golden run of things for a good while there. Tons of figures, sometimes ridiculous variety and obscurity, and in some cases lower prices. There are probably a number of factors these days, and I do sometimes wonder how much interest there is generally in the toys these days. I rarely see kids checking it out, and I even see some "collector" stuff sit a bit longer than it used to.
I think a (at least) partial factor, at least to me, is being in "the game" for almost 20 years. I know I've been selling a lot of stuff off over the past few years as I work on culling the herd and refocusing my personal collecting as well (and focusing on more vintage stuff). I'll always collect Star Wars, but I think I might aim for more focused collecting in general.
-
I've said this before, but it definitely bears repeating: The pace at which the movies have been released has messed with the traditional Star Wars merchandising model. Those three years between movies really gave Kenner, and later Hasbro, the space to let the toy line develop.
And truth be told? It seems to me as if there was a symbiotic relationship between the toy line and the movies. Having these odd background characters in the toy line seemed to give the movies an additional degree of depth that drew in your interest about the characters in these settings. It fleshed out this fantastic world.
But now with movies a year apart? Or even 6 months? There's no time to explore the depth of these worlds because the action figure line has to hit all of these notes and rattle off the mostly main characters. And the interesting character (like that bounty hunter who turned up in both ROGUE ONE and SOLO) seems to be relegated as some guy in a mask who's a background player, rather than have a somewhat interesting backstory that people who don't read the Visual Dictionary will learn about.
And as much as I want to make up Want Lists from the new movies? It does seem like something of a wasted effort, since we're getting so few characters from any of the movies now.
-
I agree with feeling worn down... I'm not worn down by collectors and fans who want to purchase awesome product though; I'm worn down by how Disney and Hasbro manage the brand these days. It's pretty obvious the line is really falling flat. All one has to do is compare how things are to where they used to be. Yeah, there were some bad times before but it's gotten pretty ridiculous. Why would anyone new to the hobby even want to collect this stuff now? It's too damn difficult.
And really, kids don't care that much any more. Why should they given the awful selection of figures and general downgrade in quality as compared to what kids 10 years ago were getting as Star Wars toys? And I know now more and more kids by age 10 are not even asking for toys. It's all about Fortnite or whatever the flavor of the month video game is. Well, unless you look at Jurassic World toys... which is another topic I guess. It's nice to see Mattel didn't cheap out like Hasbro did on their Jurassic line - and retail thanks Mattel for their good stewardship of the license.
Hopefully, the return of TVC straightens a lot of this out. Let them always be behind some on figures from new media - that's fine. Just get back to a steady flow of 25-30 new TVC figures per year and I think people will be satisified. And I don't think Hasbro would have brought the TVC line back if they weren't aware of just how bad it was these days. Retailers need a line of Star Wars that isn't such a high risk of going on clearance... something they actually want to order and stock on their pegs.

I think Yakface has pretty conclusively established they are - great reporting as always by the way. And I'm thrilled, because there's a lot of figure joy here. Very happy the Kessel Qi'ra and Weazel are coming, which are two of my big wants. Four of these will be in the Home Entertainment pack, which I'm guessing are Vandor Han, Vandor Chewie, Kessel Qi'ra and either the Mudtrooper or Patrol Trooper. Bring on more. Glad to see more aliens and weirdness in the line.
-
If those are all the figures we're working with, my guess for the 4-pack would be the 4 Vandor figures--Han, Chewie, Val, and Rio. And that's okay with me if they are all unique enough.
-
What’s darby said... that stuff was all posted with the Force Link update as per Yakface and Jayson.
-
No Dryden Voss in the list yet?
-
Not yet.
-
No Dryden Voss in the list yet?
You have to think that the role being re-cast may have delayed any kind of a Dryden Voss figure. Paul Bettany took over the role around 9 or 10 months before the film was released. Lead time on a figure is generally 1 year+. I think that he'll get done at some point. But Hasbro has yet to officially reveal the figures that wound up leaking via the Force Link gauntlet and app. Those will probably get unveiled at SDCC, and maybe we'll get a look at a Dryden figure around Toy Fair 2019.

Fresh reveals from the panel - I'll gladly buy them all.

Great looking bunch of figures for the basic line. Just need Dryden Vos and his kitty henchman and we have every main character wrapped up
-
Even though I knew all of those were coming, that slide might have been favorite of the panel.
-
I'm in on all of them. Of course, I'd prefer and would've bought them all 2-3x over if they were TVC, but I'll take what I can get I guess. :(

Nice! I may have to get a few Pikes for my CW display.
-
L3 and Tobias are my favs... I really think Tobias looks great though. Val looks good too but not as nice as her 6" figure looks. I really loved Solo and the characters so I'm glad to see Hasbro step up to get them ALL made at least. I wish this was one multi-pack to ease finding them all.
-

Same. TVC would be GREAT, but at least we're getting the main crew. Dryden is probably gonna take a while since he was recast later in the game and that probably delayed his figure some.
-
Some great looking figures there. Glad they’re releasing them, but wonder if they’ll end up EE exclusives.

Jayson's got pics (http://yakfaceforums.com/main/2018/07/27/new-force-link-2-vader-and-luke-images/) of the Vader and Luke from Wave 3. Luke is a repack (as was previously rumored). Vader looks to be an all-new ANH Darth Vader sculpt designed to match up in battle with the 5POA TLJ Ben Kenobi figure they did. I have zero need for any more Darth Vaders at this point, but it looks really nice and I might actually pick it up. :-[
I'm waiting on confirmation on that Stormtrooper now. It's listed as an Ep8 stormie, but Rocket Kingdom and others are showing a loose pic of the "Squad Leader Officer" Stormie in orange (last seen in the Kohl's TLJ 4-pack (https://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php/topic,24605.0.html)). Might actually buy if it's that one as I don't have that repaint yet...
-
I'd also love if the Trooper is the officer.
-
According to Walmart.com it shows images of a First Order Stormtrooper Officer with what I believe is Red Pauldron is coming in Wave 3 of the Force Link 2.0 or Solo A Star Wars Story Collection. It has both a carded and loose image.
It looks like Wave 3 will consist of the following:
Darth Vader (Death Star Duel) (ANH)
Kylo Ren (Masked or Master of the Knights of Ren) (TLJ) (Repack from Wave 2)
Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight Outfit) (ROTJ)
Princess Leia (Hoth Outfit) (TESB) (Repack from Wave 2)
Rey (Jedi Training) (TLJ)
Stormtrooper Officer (First Order) (Red Pauldron) (TLJ)

Glad to see it confirmed (http://yakfaceforums.com/main/2018/07/28/new-force-link-rey-and-stormtrooper-officer-images-and-codes/) as the Stormie Squad Officer from the Kohl's pack. Glad I never bought that set just for him.
Funny - when this wave was first rumored, I wanted none of it. Now, seeing it's not just all repacks, I'll probably pick up that new Vader and Stormtrooper Officer repaint. *shrug* Got me again, Hasbro. :-[
-
That's cool about the Stormtrooper. When I first saw the images, I wasn't sure if it was a reissue of the Stormtrooper Officer from the TFA line. But I guess the pauldron is the distinguishing feature here. I passed on the Kohl's set, too. I just couldn't go there at that price for 3 reissues and 1 new figure.
With Vader? I'm really on the fence. If they include some cool sound clips in the Force Link 2.0 tech I may bite. But that ROGUE ONE sculpt seemed like such a step backwards in terms of sculpting and articulation.
-
I saw the new wave at Walmart yesterday over lunch. Nothing I was interested in though, and they didn't have the new 2-packs.
-
I got the stormie for myself and immediately swapped his gear to an SA Trooper and he looks amazing.
The others? Meh.

Yuck. I'd forgotten what a crappy assortment this is with no new figures from Solo, or new characters at all. At least its mostly decent core characters.
Hopefully these don't clog the pegs for too long so we can move on to Wave 4.

Yuck. I'd forgotten what a crappy assortment this is with no new figures from Solo, or new characters at all.
Some smaller on-line shops are soliciting a different Wave 3 case that has Solo figures, including the mysterious "Hades Joker 1" that no one has been able to decode yet.
I'm not sure if it's a Wave 3 revision case or if this is the Wave 4 case mis-labeled as Wave 3?

Not a bad case. 🤔

I got the Vader at Wally today and I have too many Vaders but this is a very impressive piece. Great companion to the Obi-Wan from a few months ago. Vader has a ball jointed head and swivel wrists. He can do some good poses.
I've seen some griping around (imagine that) about this wave. There won't be a trace of these left come Christmas. All of these characters sell down, especially Vader and the troopers. Hoth Leia is a great figure a lot of people are still catching up on.
-

I was under the impression that this Darth Vader was a reissue of the ROGUE ONE version, but now with the Force Link 2.0. Is that not the case?
-
He's brand new. I also thought he was a reissue, but he's 100% a new sculpt. Worth it if you're a Vader fan or like me, your thousand other Vaders are in a box somewhere.
-
Interesting. I'm going to have to try finding it in that case.
-
Back to this repack with Force Link 2.0 business...
I bought the K-2SO for the paint variation... Luke and Snoke and Kylo Ren I've passed on so far.
My understanding is that Snoke is the same as the BB8 Playset but with Forcelink 2.0, Luke is the same as the previous one but also with the update.
Is Kylo Ren the same as any of the past iterations (aside from the Forcelink 2.0)?
I'm trying to figure out if just the new chip is enough of a variation to bother with...
-
Is Kylo Ren the same as any of the past iterations (aside from the Forcelink 2.0)?
Kylo is the figure/sculpt that came with the TLJ ForceLink 1.0 set.
-
I have to wonder if we're going to see this in the SOLO line look, but I saw Yakface report yesterday (http://yakfaceforums.com/main/2018/09/10/rumor-report-3-75-star-wars-resistance-figures/) that several figures from 'RESISTANCE' are on the way, including:
Kazuda Xiono
Torra Doza
Von Kreeg
First Order Stormtrooper
Synara
Commander Pyre (red First Order Pilot?)
Considering the way Hasbro approached figures for both Clone Wars and Rebels? I think these figures are going to be stylized like previous ones from past animated series.
-
Within the last hour, Tunghori just listed the wave 4 figures. Hopefully that means a retail appearance soon.
-
It was tempting to see those in Tunghori's store. Beckett looked pretty good! And based on them turning up there, I would think that these will probably show up in the usual U.S. retail chain around the beginning of November.
-
There's at least 7 new figures in that wave 4 case, maybe 8. I'm hope a full case purchase will make sense.
-
Wave 4 has turned up at Walmart stores in the Northeast according to a RS post.
-
Grabbed this whole wave except Quay and the Mudtrooper Han tonight. Great batch of figures, but kind of wondering why they weren’t out day one.
-
Great batch of figures, but kind of wondering why they weren’t out day one.
I would chalk it up to Hasbro's lead times and the abbreviated gap between Solo and VIII. Had Solo been a December release movie with a September merch street date, these would have been that wave that hits right when the movie comes out, while the earlier waves would have been the "Force Friday" waves.
-
The other culprit is Infinity War. Disney and Hasbro's focus was on that in spring/summer, and I imagine there was some negotiating of priorities. I don't mind Hasbro is playing catch up around the home entertainment release at all, and really I just hope they keep up with offerings from Solo. This the most fun I've had collecting of the new films so far.
-
The other culprit is Infinity War.
Exactly. I know for a fact that Disney Execs had to be reminded that if TFA and CA: Civil War were both released in May, they'd be competing with themselves. I have no idea why they changed their minds with Solo.
-
Is the carded Mimban Han Solo the exact same thing as the one in the multi-pack?
-
Is the carded Mimban Han Solo the exact same thing as the one in the multi-pack?
Looks like it to me Rob.
I have both, but only the 6-pack one open, I have the one carded version that I've found so far still MOC. I gave up hitting my local Walmarts in hopes of finding this wave and just went in on a case from EE, so I should have one of the carded release opened to compare soon (my wave 4 case just shipped)
-
Not sure how long they’ll last but I just managed to order most of the new Solo wave off of HTS.
-
Target is clearancing both Solo and Last Jedi Figs. First stage clearance, but underway none-the-less.
EDIT
...and I see this has been mentioned in the discount thread.
-
This isn't related so much to the TLJ or SOLO basic figure lines so much as it is the ENTIRE 3.75" figure line. Since the movie line for Episode 9 does not launch until October, are we going to get any new figures from across the saga? The sequel films, Rogue One and Solo all seem like there are some significant gaps that could be filled in with some new characters or alternate versions of characters that have already been made.
Clearly, this conversation isn't happening in a vacuum. There seems to be something of a line for the RESISTANCE animated show. Will it grow beyond this initial wave and the 2-packs? The Galaxy of Adventures line seems like the return of Saga Legends, but how deep is Hasbro going to go on this? And The Vintage Collection will have a decent run, but won't be shipping a wave per month like other 3.75" figure lines like in the old days.

Target is clearancing both Solo and Last Jedi Figs. First stage clearance, but underway none-the-less.
EDIT
...and I see this has been mentioned in the discount thread.
That’s awesome if I want two dozen Rose or Hux figures.

You don't?

You don't?
Well I already have two dozen Rose and Hux figures. What would I do with 4 dozen?!
-
Twice as much as two dozen? :D
I'll show myself out.

I guess there may be a limit to how many sneering First Order officers one can have.

Fun facts about Hux I’ve seen literally nobody point out...
1) he has a mousedroid you can use anywhere... ok everyone knows that one sorry.
2) his head is the ubiquitous army builder sized ball so he fits Rebel pilots, Hoth rebs and some other neck balls decently. He’s kinda generic looking too.
3) His coat has lines on the back cut to match the seams of his sleeves but did you know the coat is removable and those same seams are cut on the back of the figure with no gaps at the arm joint? IE: Hasbro intentionally made a Hux whose coat is removable if you wanted (I don’t think anyone noticed or cared to point it out really?🤷♂️).
4) Hux’s trench coat very nicely fits onto at least the old 2007 Death Star Trooper making a great coat clad black uniform imperial if you fancy something with some Rogue One/Solo imperial flare to it. Look neat with your Mimban Troopers imho.
5) TFA’s Hux head with hat swaps to TLJ Hux nicely so you can have Hux with hat on too both with and without his coat.
His one ****** drawback is still no holster and he has one because he goes for his blaster when he thinks he could kill Kylo... kind of a bummer.
I have many Hux and will pick more up for the heads coats and droid. I’m easy. 😕

That is some serious Hux love, Jesse!
I'll add a Hux fact...to my credit/shame I put Hux's coat on a Bala Tik figure and it looks pretty good.
(Now you can buy another Rathtar on clearance too!)
-
Hmmm that may be a good bala tik update to try.
I was amazed Hasbro seemed to intentionally make his coat removable but I honestly didn’t see anyone anywhere mention it. I don’t really read reviews much though, but the only one who I think would’ve caught it is Jayson. It’s subtle but it sure seems intentional to me since the arms don’t leave a gap when the coat is off. It’s like it was never there.
And it does look oddly cool on some imperials... I haven’t tried it on all black suited imps yet but the 30AC Death Star Trooper was pretty flawless looking with it. I slapped an extra officers hat on him and he was out the door as a colder weather Trooper Officer hangin out and being kinda useless.
My point remains though, Hux is the overlooked gem of the TLJ line. If I were casting still I’d whip up some heads for those now useless black FO Officer bodies I have lying around. He’s my new ASP-7 maybe. 🤔
-
I picked up an extra TLJ Hux because I saw some army building potential. The removable coat is a very nice feature and I'm glad to hear about the shoulders.
And a mouse droid is always gravy in my book too, Matt!

Picked up L3-37, Val, Rio and Solo (mimban) from Hasbro Toy Shop of Ebay for $7.99 each. I think they still have them.
-
Yeah I got those too, to attempt a custom of them so they’re nice.

Finally found a reasonable price for Quay Tolsite online - I never was able to get this figure online and never saw the wave in stores. $15 on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Force-Tolsite-Figure/dp/B075LNDN9Z/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1XZL3O4O8UYV0&keywords=quay+tolsite&qid=1562075663&s=gateway&sprefix=quay+tolsi%2Caps%2C139&sr=8-1) isn't too bad.

Was just wondering aloud the other day whether I would ever own one of these...so tempting.

Quay was a blink and you miss it on Target.com
Keep an eye out at Ross stores if you have them, a while back they got this wave in. It came and went but ya never know what might show up
