Watto's Junk Yard / Car Insurance!!!
« on: November 20, 2003, 11:21 PM »
Sorry, I just have to get this off my chest!!

I hate insurance companies!!!!!!  This year so far my car insurance company took three months of payments within 3 weeks of each other, and last month took two payments again!!

Ever try to speak to someone about getting your maney back (I am paid for the year, and they took an extra payment anyway) GOOD LUCK!

But this is the kicker!  I got my renewal form in the mail tonight!  I was expecting an increase.. as there always is.  They want to increase my premium by 115%

That's right, more than double!  Accidents... NO!  Major moving violations ... NO!  One speeding ticket (14 Km over the limit - no demerit points) DWI... NO!,  New Car... NO!

WTF is that about!!

I am pretty sure its because the new provincial government elected last month promised to take control of the insurance industry "to stop price gouging" and they are jacking everyone for what they can.. while they can!

If I can't find a lower rate - I can't afford to put the car on the road - simple as that!

Its crazy..

/end rant - Sorry, but thanks!

ANyone else have this problem with crazy rates?  What's it like in the US?

I have been there...  Well never laid off, but been one of the few who survived.  You almost feel kind of guilty.  You watch your friends get called into a room, then escorted to their desk and out again by security.

All this happened just under a year ago... a few weeks before Christmas to boot!

I still work for the company, and even though they are better off for doing it, and the comapny seems to have turned itself around I still don't trust anyone from HQ when it comes to this.

Sad...

Yep, its actually real!!

Next time I am in I am going to try to smuggle a camera in and get a shot of his diploma.  ;)

Its a very small shop, and I think it would freak the guy out.  Though, I guess he is used to all sorts of questions regarding his name by now.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Everything eBay! Scams, questions, etc...
« on: September 23, 2003, 10:27 PM »
Thanks everyone.

I was just a little tuned off is all, as this was my first "Ask the seller a question" e-mail..  I expect questions, and hope potential buyers would email me so everyone is happy.

This guy just came accross as a .. well its a family site :)

I do believe his three bids were an attempt to find out the reserve.  I really don't like reserve auctions, but you have to have +10 feedback for a BIN listing and I really don't want it to go for nothing so I put a reserve.  I researched recent completed auctions for the same item and put my reserve about 25 - 40 dollars less than what those were going for.

Anyway, live and learn practice will make perfect I guess.

Thanks for all the links Dale.  I'll let you all know how it turns out.

BTW I don't think I will e hearing back from this guy again.  If I do I can work the delete button no problem.

Thanks again everyone.

Hi All,

So I finally bit the  bullet and set up a seller's account on eBay.  No Star Wars stuff, mainly cell phones as I work in that industry and have literally dozens of them lying around.. anyway.

I just have a few questions that maybe some of the seasoned eBay sellers can help me with.

1. - Is it normal for people to contact you and offer to buy the item "Off eBay" - I guess cancel your auction and sell it to them.  This is against the eBay rules right??

2. - Is it also normal for them to berate you when you refuse, stating that you will never be able to sell your item. etc etc etc?

3. - Will this happen all the time?

4. - What does it mean when the bid count is 3, but it is all by the same person.

Thanks for any advice and words of wisdom.

The spelling, that's funny.

I also found it strange that they were about to suspend you for breaking the rules ( a major one too ) and yet they apologize, and thank you for using eBay!

LOL
