Why limit the speeder bike set to only 30,000 pieces? That seems like the lowest price point item out of all of them and should easily move through, especially since there will be guys (like me) out there looking to get at least four to squad build the bikes and scout troopers...
-
A tripod cannon on Endor? Wha?
If they had to toss in something else, toss in the Ewok catapult, and not that teeny one from POTF2/Dragonheart.
But maybe it's a new sculpt, not a big spring loaded reissue?
-
I'm stoked for the Speederbike... No interest in the AT-AT though, but the figure sets and bike are tops on my list. I'm hoping to nab at least 2 bikes, maybe more. Finally soemthing to be giddy about this year. :)
-
The new speeder bike is a long time coming. I'll pick up at least four myself.
-
Speeder Bike with Scout Trooper (http://photos.sirstevesguide.com/exclusives/p42359-hasbro-star-wars.html)
Looks like the Rumored "tri-pod cannon" is actually an accessory for the speederbike that you can use on the bike or off the bike with a tri-pod. Also, looks like there is some kind of "clear floaty" type stand shown on the back of the box. Nice! :)
-
The floaty stand... Huh.
I remember someone asking for that at some site... somewhere.
;D
It looks like a new bike to me... Tough to say for sure, but certainly doesn't look like they reused much if anything there. I'm stoked. Long time coming. Look at that shot with the scout on it... I mean that looks like a movie still!
-
So I got some good insider news on this tonight... Sounding like this set is 100% new. there was some speculation it wasn't since the bike on the Vintage AT-AT box is clearly not new, but I've caught wind that the new one is wholely separate and the AT-AT's bike is because the mold for it is with the molds for the AT-AT. No more, no less.
So from what I gathered, a 100% new tooled, new scaled bike is here it would seem.

Pretty sweet...I love Myatt "You heard it here first a few weeks ago"
Uh... ::)
-
Love this and wil snag at least 6.
-
Love this and wil snag at least 6.
Ditto - for me it will be six to open and one to keep MIB. This is freakin' awesome!
-
I'm leaning towards 6 as well. 4 basic and 2 for commandearing till they make Luke and Leia.
-
One of my favorite reveals of SDCC, definitely. We sort of knew it was coming, but seeing pics it looks like it is really well done. I'm in for several as well, if possible.
-
It looks really good, but I wish that stand didn't have it float so high off the ground.
-

None for Paploo? :(
-

Make your own Endor Luke ;) its easy Endor Capture Luke with the TSC Endor Luke Poncho and Helmet and BAM ! instant Ultimate Endor Luke. I did that.
-
That is a thing of beauty. I will definitely buy a bunch of them.
I don't mind it floating so high, there's something pretty cool about it. In the movie they seemed to range from high to low, rather than one, low altitude like Luke's Tattoine speeder.
-
This was a highlight of the show for me, a re-do a long time coming. Can't wait to start replacing my old ones and hope to see Hoth and Shadow re-paints.
-
Definitely will buy a couple of these!
-
Very glad to see this at long last. Especially with the clear stand! That's a feature that the speeder bike was calling out for, and a feature that I've been hoping would be considered for any new Han Solo in the carbonite block.
I'm definitely hoping that Hasbro will put this new tool to good use. And from my standpoint, I'd be happy to see the Speeder bike re-offered with Luke & Leia in their Endor gear. Of course, that's with the provision that both figures have appropriate articulation so that they can get on the Speeder bike. And a Paploo with Speeder bike would be cool, too.
-
This is definitely awesome. There is an opportunity for Hasbro, or even customizers, to make a clear stand for the bike while it is "parked", a couple feet from the ground.
-
Can't really add to the discussion, but yeah, this thing is awesome, and something we should have gotten years ago. I want at least 4, and this is coming from a guy who rarely buys vehicles. I'd happily buy repacks with Ewoks, Luke and Leia.
Is it me or does the fact that it doesn't "explode" like the POTF2 version make it look more awesome?
-
I like that, basically, everyone wants 4... Myself included, if not 6.
This thing's going to be maybe the most popular exclusive in a long time.
I'm also excited for Leia/Luke renditions too... Be nice if they ALSO came with a scout, ya know, just because they should and it wouldn't break the bank. But I'll be happy if they redo Luke and Leia Endor so well that they too can ride the bikes and look like the movie maquettes like that Scout does. That thing's a work of art.
The Snowspeeder was the last time I was this excited about a new vehicle I think. Whoever all designed and sculpted this, they deserve a pat on the back from collectors.
-

I agree. They get enough flak from us for distribution and other woes, so it's good that Hasbro gets some positive feedback. I'm actually loving the Battle of Endor love they are giving us this year.
-
Brian Merto is the guy who sculpted the new Speeder Bike. He also sculpted the new At-St.
-
Bet he did the snowspeeder too... Just seems like he's got an eye for vehicle detail. :) Kind of guy I dig having on the Hasbro team.
-
I was listening to the SWAN Comic Con podcast today, and when discussing the speeder bike (and how awesome it is), they mentioned how they asked Hasbro if there were plans for Luke/Leia in the future - and although it sounded as if that could happen, they were also told that the designer (Brian Merto?) wants to redesign the ewok hands/wrists so that they could have a version with Paploo that would hold on while in the "flying" pose from ROTJ. That would be pretty cool.
-
Sounds like these are out on the west coast...Colman probably already has 10 of them :'(
-
******' TRU. >:(
-
They're in Iowa too. Got mine today and it's FANTASTIC. The Scout is 100% new and has a nice little extra joint in the neck to give him some extra posebaility. The Bike is light years ahead of previous versions.
-
I went to check our TRU tonight after seeing that Darby found one (our stores seem to usually run similar to Iowa's), but no dice here - unless I totally missed them (which is possible). I didn't see a "spot" for them though, as the SW section is pretty full (of older stuff).
-
These were hiding on the bottom shelf wedged in between other stuff - since the box is so small I almost missed them myself. Might not hurt to double check again. I may need to buy another myself for Luke!
-
And to think I drove all the way out there this morning to grab Thundercracker and didn't look around a little harder. *sigh*
Better head out there Friday morning and grab one. :)
-
Picked a pair up myself. A near perfect set.
As a purely nit-picking excersize, the Scout's hip joints are perfect, but the neck joint is not. The helmet rides a tad high. The bike's handle bars are a bit thick when viewed from the front, but it's an easy part to upgrade down the road. The paint app is a bit basic. However, the scale and other detailing is near perfect. I like the little landing gear attachment for non-stand use and while the canon accessory is, for lack of a better word - weak, I appreciate the effort and actually doesn't look too obnoxious attached under neath the bike.
Overall, I'd give this 9.5 out of 10. Nice piece of work and thank you Hasbro.
-
I got 2 myself.
Possibly the last things I buy at retail the rest of the year, but my all time favorite Armored Trooper and a motorcycle that floats!
-
And to think I drove all the way out there this morning to grab Thundercracker and didn't look around a little harder. *sigh*
Better head out there Friday morning and grab one. :)
How many did they have left? I'm thinking about a trip up there to snag a couple.
Corman
-
Went back to TRU today and found four on the shelf (bought two). Would have been nice if they had these yesterday for the 75% off the second, but oh well. I was tempted to buy all four, but thought better of it for now. Hope to get more later on though. I got a chance to open one tonight, and it really is sweet. One of my favorite items of the year, and the flying stand works great too. Hopefully these are easy for everyone to find, because I think it is one of those items (even somewhat fairly priced) that many fans are going to want, OT fans in particular. Hope we see Luke/Leia versions down the road (or even Paploo).

They're gone now. Amazing how fast those and the MP Thundercracker went.
-
Be nice if I can find this over the weekend... I'm so busy time's tight for me to get out much, but I'm hoping to luck into what I want.
I'd like to, ultimately, end up with 4 of these... This was the last "biggie" for me on my wishlists and the last thing I wanted multiples of from this year's collection. I just hope I can find it since TRU's a bitch for me to get to most of the time. I have like 4, but they're all an hour away, in different directions, haha.
-
I picked one of these up today. There were three there, and I was tempted to snag them all, but after tax they're almost $25 each, and that's pretty steep for this thing. But it's pretty nice.
-
Saw 3, snagged 3, keeping 2.
-
This toy looks great! Great details, fun features, and an awesome figure... I can't wait to get a few sets. Hopefully TRU.com puts these up soon, because as much as I'd love to drive over to TRU to look I can't afford the disappointment and wasted gas.
-
Call your store first with the sku "790655" that should save you a ton of time.
-
Came across a bunch of these yesterday at TRU and grabbed 3 of them. After years with the other version, this one feels kinda small, but I guess it's more accurately scaled so that's cool. It'll just take a little getting used to. I have to say that I much preferred the weathering on the prior version over this one. It looks like the new one has been blasted from front to back with a silver paint gun. Other than that, the added stand(s) and cannon are a nice touch. Some of the "in-action" pix around the web look particularly cool when the speeder's in flight mode and the clear stand is just out of the frame. I would've loved an additional clear stand (instead of the cannon, perhaps) that held TWO speeders, so you could stick 2 Scouts and/or Luke & Leia right next to eachother. I guess I can do it the hard way though.
-
got 2 of these today - buy one get one half off!
-
So I opened it today... Some thoughts:
-Scale's PERFECT. This is the bike I waited all these years for. One of my holy grails is complete, and this is it. I love how tiny the bike is, and that THIS actually COULD be easily transported around in other vehicles unlike the hulking other bike. Kinda opens up space in things like the Gunship or AT-AT.
-To those that say the double-jointed neck is useless, I disagree... I've been messing with the figure's head poses, and I find it quite useful. It's slight, but that slight additional movement adds a lot of realism. Totally appreciated.
-Paint Aps on the figs for me have been ok... Bummer you got a crummy one Jayson. :(
-The Handlebars are a little warped so I'm gonna heat/freeze them... They're fine to me ultimately though.
-2 pistols? Thanks!
-Not a fan of the tripod gun and would've preferred a better paint ap and dropping the gun... That said, the gun is kind of acool accessory on its own, I just think it's rather pointless and I'd have just rather seen a slightly better paintjob... Paintjob quality is a sign of the times, and that sucks, but it's ok... just not "great". I can fix it I guess.
-Seconded on wishing you could add a second, lower riding, Scout to the stand... I like that they did the stand though, especially since I asked for this specifically quite some years ago. :)
-Would've actually liked a 2nd stand over the tripod gun that sets the bike low to the ground for a Scout resting on it, or standing near it, without requiring that goofy kickstand thing for the nose. :-\ I'm going to do these myself anyway, just would've preferred a Hasbro one.
-Opening engine cowl is insane... Why Hasbro does these little completely unnecessary, but appreciated, details, is beyond me. It's like the engines on the Cloud Car... Why? I don't know why, but I like it. I totally intend on doing a little scene with a tech fixing one of these now. :)
-Thing's like a mini-prop to me. Really a nice piece of work... Right up there, immediately to me, with the Cloud Car, Snowspeeder, AT-ST, Yavin Sled, etc. This is how OT vehicles NEED to be I think. This is what collectors gravitate to.
-I would DEFINITELY buy:
-Black "Shadow Scout" repaint
-White "Hoth Scout" Repaint with a slightly better Hoth Scout Trooper please
-Desert "Sandtrooper Scout" Repaint (I'd dig it even if it's never been seen)
-Stass Allie & Republic Red so she can die properly now.
-Republic Cavalry Lancer (Tartakovsky)
-Rebel Biker Scout (West End Games... It had a miniature actually)
This bike can be resold to me for years to come... happily.
-
Damn it, Jesse. Now you made me wish I bought two.
-
I've got the solution for the stand issue (http://yakfaceforums.com/main/2012/09/09/toyguide-update-2-speeder-bike-with-scout-trooper/). ;)
-
I'm being anal... I want clear. :-\
I oddly am enjoying the little gun... This is just what I was looking for, for a project I'm working on... Was gonna use the Rebel's trench gun but it's a little beefy for my intentions. This might work.
It's still not as cool as a better paintjob, but that's me.
-
Does anyone have any comparison shots with the old bike? I'd like to see them side by side to see just how much of an improvement this new bike is over the POTF2 version.

Jedi Temple Archives had some pictures.
In between posts raving about how x-store is stepping it up because somewhere one outlet actually got new product in. If they lived where I do, they'd probably never have any store reports.

LOL, that is too true. "Hey, I found something in a store! Ergo, these are hitting HARD EVERYWHERE NOW! What's wrong with you that you can't find this stuff?!?!"
Weakeners.
-
Found and bought my two bikes today. It's always warm fuzzies when new toys hit during a BOGO sale. Used a $5 TRU reward coupon and paid just under $30 for my two sets. Very pleased with that price, cant wait to open them up tonight when I get home! :)
-
I went back to TRU today and ended up picking up the one speederbike that was left on the shelf (3 total so far). Too bad it was the only one, would have been nice to take advantage of the BOGO sale. So nicely done though, one of my favorites of the year - right up there with things like the BMF Falcon, BMF AT-AT, new Taun Taun, etc. with me.
-

I wouldn't panic since it's TRU... I saw a TON of Yavin/Ewok packs when I picked up my Scouts, and I recall there was a bit of panic on that Ewok set when it first started shipping... Now, it'll fall in line with other stuff they have. By all accounts, stores aren't getting a big initial shipment it seems, just enough for their endcaps I guess, and that seems to be their MO... Then they'll get more. The only suck thing is not getting the sale price this week if you can't find them, but hey, they'll have another one of those too when these are around, I feel sure.
-
Oh, and Ryan, the size difference is SIGNIFICANT, especially at this scale... It's one of those times you really look at one and the other, and see the one was more toy and the other is more collectible. It's very impressive.
-
I just picked one up today (wish they had more than one), and holy ****, I love this thing. I need to get two more.
-
If I were self-involved enough to give out toy of the year awards, I'd give it to this new Speederbike... It's everything I wanted since 1995. For me it's more tiny replica than toy. :)
-
Agreed, and I also really like the scout. Once I figured out how to really pose him, he impressed me. Still not sure why there's two guns, but whatever.
I just wish this set was closer to $15. I would buy ten of them.
-
Spotted four of these this morning at a TRU that's kinda near work. They had nothing on Sunday but had four on the shelves today. Snagged two with the BOGO, and it really took self control to leave the other two. Thankfully I had to snag some Marvel figures for Former JediDefender Poster Famine, making them easy-ish to pass on.
I work overnights, so I won't get to check it out too much til later, probably this weekend, but it's awesome enough just staring at it through the box. And the BOGO makes it even more awesome. All of the ones I saw had good paintjobs too, so I'm wondering if Jayson just got unlucky with his?
-
Of the 3 I got, the paintjobs were all good... factory mistakes happen, so no real biggie, I guess. It could've been any figure or ship I suppose. I got a TIE Pilot in an Endor pack that has a malformed leg. It sucks because he's really hard to pose.

Careful you probably just gave some EU writer an idea. "Imperial Speed Walkers! Brilliant!"
-
Reminds me of the God-awful "TIE Crawler" design...
Seems to me that thing would shear itself in half in about five seconds.
-
Got around to opening up one of these tonight. Only complaint I have is the ridiculous warpage on the handlebars. I'm sure that's an easy fix with a boil/freeze though.
-
Anyone still finding these? I found one, and I've been calling/visiting the TRU's around me pretty much every day with no luck.
-
I found 2 at a single store, and I haven't seen them since. I'm glad I picked up both!
-
I think TRU is waiting for all their Star Wars sales to be over before they put these back on the shelves. They're exclusives and you'll just have to wait until they decide to put more out when you'll have to buy them at full price. [/end conspiracy theory]
-
Honestly, as much as I'd like to get them on sale, I'll buy 'em at full price...I just want like two more.
It sucks that TRU is full of crappy exclusives like the pod racer sets, while this is nowhere to be found.
-
Honestly, as much as I'd like to get them on sale, I'll buy 'em at full price...I just want like two more.
That is true. Even at full price, these things are still a deal.
-
I have yet to even see one of these bad boys. :-\
-
Ours just got here this week, so I imagine there are a couple still around. We have a new store opening in about two weeks so I have high (ok, wildly unrealistic) hopes of a freshly stocked SW section swimming in all the latest offerings. We'll see.
-
Just got an email notification, they're back in stock at toysrus.com. They still have the BOGO-50% deal going on.
-
Should still have free shipping over $50 as well.... + 20% off any order $150 or more
-
Awesome!
I got 4 so that I'd get free shipping and the deal. Probably won't keep them all, but it's nice to get another exclusive out of the way. Exclusive... I believe everything I need to finish out this year is an exclusive... Kmart 2 packs, Jocasta Nu, last vintage wave.

Well, there is no conspiracy. 8)

Once you open one, you might just keep all four. What's better than one, awesome speeder bike? Four of them.
Plus, the trooper is highly articulated, so there's so many options for posing him. This was really a home run by Hasbro. The only downside was the exclusivity. I hope they repack it for a while.
-
no luck here, no speeder bikes for 2 weeks now, I guess I will buy the pilots with my BOGO 75% coupon
-
I've seen no speeder bikes or pilots or ewoks. TRU doesn't carry star wars anymore.
-
TRU doesn't carry star wars anymore.
It certainly seems that way over here, too.
I resorted to just ordering the darn thing online from their website. It's expected to arrive next week.
-
Same here. I tried a brick & mortar store today and asked up front when I found they were out of stock. The first place she looked was on their website...guess that is the way to go these days. :P
-

Agreed... other than the bike not having a little black for burn marks, and the trooper having the pins the wrong color on some of his joints, this thing's perfect. It's everything I hoped for since, well, I started modern collecting again. :)
Plus I'm still taking full credit for that "floaty stand". :)
-
I'd be pissed if I paid full price and no floaty stand. I love floaty stand.
-
Floaty stand made it. Floaty stand should be standard for speederbikes IMO. A smaller one that mounts underneath would be appreciated though, for other bikes.
Anyone interested now in repaints of this? Hoth? Republic "Lancer" Clones?
-
I'd be happy with ROTS version with a Stass Allie, but other than that, keep issuing Endor versions with Luke, Leia and Paploo pack-ins. I couldn't care less for a Hoth or Shadow version. Oh, and give me at least one in a vintage box.
-
Has anybody tried seeing what other figures work on the new bike? Pesonally I've only tried the VC23 Luke from 2010. He fits great but looks awkward due to the lack of ball-jointed torso. Haven't tried the VTSC Leia due to the lack of ball-jointed hips.
I don't know what other figures used that kind of Speeder Bike in the movies/cartoons. Maybe the Legacy Clone Armor Obi-Wan would work, but again I think only figures with ball-jointed hips AND torsos will "work" properly.
-
Like Jayson mentioned, Stass Allie is really the only film-person other than the Endor chase where Luke, Leia, Paploo and Scouts used it...
I'd be down for a white Hoth one though, for sure. Mostly because it's sort of become a popular EU thing. I also really would like either CW2D Obi re-issued with Ball jointed hips so he too could ride one, or a Lancer Clone... I really always felt like Durge needed something to go against. His droids are cool too and have no bike, so not having a bike for those characters kind of feels like a glaring hole on a shelf when Durge is there on his, and looking quite badass.
I'm up for those...
Could care less for the obligatory black repaint dubbed "Shadow" whatever.
For that matter I could probably live without Paploo with a bike too... Or part of a larger more appealing (financially) pack maybe.
-
Yeah, but those Lancer droids are just all kinds of awesome by themselves. I have four, and I always planned on building a little army of them...I'll have to get around to that someday. I like the old-style assassin droids a lot more than the battle droids. I wish we had seen either the lancers or (ultimate wish) a bunch of straight-up IG-88 droid in the prequels. They're just so much more menacing (not to mention Star Warsy) than the
snoopy battle droids.
And don't start talking about that ridiculous EU story about IG-88 being one of 5 identical blah, blah, blah...that was hack writing to begin with.
And count me in for a hoth version of this speeder bike. I like the idea of some recon troops on Hoth. Has anyone tried the sandtrooper from the Dewback set with this thing? Seems like that could be very cool.

Couldn't agree with you more. IG droids just look like they'll just tear you apart. The battle droids look about as menacing as Robby the Robot.
-
Third it... SBD's I think were a half-assed attempt to make BD's a little more deadly seeming, but they really were a poor design and a snub to an easy tie-in between OT and PT by making a droid very similar to IG-88 but not quite the same.
Lots of tie-in opportunities that weren't blatant slaps in the faces like Chewbacca helping Yoda escape, were missed throughout the PT. It seemed more like a race to see what they could draw on the computer next that was completely new.
-

Not the prequel movies, but they did finally get it right in the cartoon with the IG-86 droids...

Thanks Jeff. Yeah, I love that they use those guys, and it's one of those things that makes me want to watch all the Clone Wars episodes. I keep meaning to just buy the whole series on dvd or bluray when it's finished, to watch the whole thing.
There's really great parts of the prequels, visually, but I just wish they had brought some more OT into it. I guess that's a subject for a different thread though.
-
Exactly, PLUS the IG-86 guy was an awesome figure and fits into animated and realistic perfectly.
He reminds me of those commercials of "pipe people", for when you have to pee all the time.
I bought a ton of those guys on sales and clearances... Love him. I like the Lancer Droids too, but love those IG-86's for quick goonery behind a pirate type character. Everyone scumbag should have at least two of those guys helping him out.
-
Well, now I want some of those guys.
-
Back in stock at tru.com... if anyone's still looking for these.
-
I think I'm good at 2. Would like more, but I think 2 is fine.
-
I think I'm good at 2. Would like more, but I think 2 is fine.
Just wait, Mike... I'm guessing these will be re-released with Paploo, Luke and Leia at some point. ;)
-
This speederbike sculpt is so awesome, they could release it with a drunk Sio Bibble and I'd get it.
-

I think that should be a fansite exclusive... :D
-
I really would like to see a repainted version with Boba Fett. Naturally, Fett would need ball jointed hips, which he needs anyways. If it could stow away in the upcoming Slave-1, all the better.
-
I also wouldn't turn my nose up at a kick ass Bossk on speeder bike. Because Bossk is the ******* man. In fact, any bounty hunter would look awesome on a speeder bike.

Back in stock at tru.com... if anyone's still looking for these.
Thanks for the tip! I ordered 3 to take advantage of the free shipping offer. I can't wait to get them! I'm sure I'll love the set, so I might look into getting a few more down the road.
-
Got mine today. Pretty sweet, though I would change with shoulder joint colors.

Mine is expected to arrive tomorrow, and as soon as I open it up, I'm seriously thinking of displaying it with Bossk riding it.

This...is...awesome!!!

Got mine yesterday. It was a long wait for a new speederbike, but totally worth it!

I stopped by TRU today (actually checking for Hobbit stuff), and noticed that not only did the store not have any of these (not surprising) but the shelf spot (and price tag) that were there have been replaced with something else as well. I did find and pick up a couple of these when they first started hitting, but I'm not sure if there has been any others there since then. Hopefully they'll make a return, I figured it would be out there through the holidays at least.

Hobbit...Stuff? You Say? has this been found in the wild yet>
Because of so
game TF on

Stumbled on a fresh case today and snagged one, giving me three total. I think that'll be enough for me for now, I'll hold off for when they make the inevitable Luke/Leia/Paploo sets

I spotted Hobbit figures at an FYE...not sure if you have one in your area, but there you have it.
I received my 2 speeder bikes this past weekend, and I absolutely love them. I'm actually pleased with the Biker Scout, too, minus the unpainted portion of his shoulders.

I didn't mind the pins so much either... For me, for some reason, on a black and white figure, they don't look as bad. They look bad on like the Col. Cracken figure though. I'm not always 100% upset with the mismatched pins though... That's something I take differently with each figure, though it is a flaw from the factory no matter what way you slice it.
-
Yeah, the pins are a little bit of a bummer, but I can overlook them easily enough.
I'd like to see the speeder bike expanded beyond the obvious Luke, Leia and Paploo usages, into actual troop building. I'm sure we'll probably get a Hoth version (which I like the idea of), but I'd also like to see a Sandtrooper version as well. Seems the new Sandtrooper mold should have no trouble riding the speederbike, and I'd like to have one with a dirtier paint scheme...maybe with some alterations to adapt to the desert climate.

I finally got a few of the Speeder Bikes yesterday! I am very happy with the set and all of the included stuff. I wasted no time setting up a chase scene on one of my shelves:

I find that the tripod guns work nicely with the AT-ST crew figures:

My TRU had five Speederbikes tonight.

Just curious but is this on clearance too? If so, A) that's a shame, and B) where I can get 3 dozen of them for their clearance prices? :D

I don't think I have seen any Speeder Bikes around since last summer perhaps. They hung around for awhile but all of a sudden vanished from shelves.
