Title: www.myspace.com
Post by: Jediknight760071 on April 5, 2005, 02:02 AM
Anyone else on the forums have a MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID=5796477&Mytoken=20050108004224) profile?

If so...please post it on here. :)

Mine is pretty slow, cause I'm not really that involved in my popularity, but why not have one...right? ;) :P

Here's mine:

I've done NOTHING with it.  I basically signed up because tons of people post images from my web site, and it's the only way to access their pages.  Thankfully it doesn't translate into a lot of bandwidth.

Anyone else joined up at this?  I decided what the heck, I ought to go ahead and sign up.  A few of my friends have talked about it and some ladies at my work kept asking me to sign up.  So, I did.

I haven't really figured out how to do much on it yet with backgrounds or such, but have already received two very friendly offers from females in the area to meet sometime/get to know each other... but I'm married.   So I don't know what I did to make anyone think I'm looking to date.  Although one has to admit it's hard to ignore a friendly message when you see a picture of what the girl looks like!  But it's something I will have to ignore and remember that my wife is the #1 thing in my life.

Anyways, it seems like a fun site.  I'm sure some of you are already members there.  Check it out though if you haven't already.  Some of you single guys might meet some cool ladies through it.

I've got one...I use it just like AIM and other new age communication technology...rarely.

Actually...I run my myspace quite a bit, but I'm not one to post bulletins begging for comments and blog kudos. It's nice if you use it in moderation, or for the right purpose. Just like Internet chatrooms, it's fairly certain you won't be getting a date from myspace anymore, so why use it like that? I've found a ton of people I wouldn't have otherwise made contact with using myspace.

However, I have been browsing around and I'm seeing a lot more kids under 16 on the site. I know you can turn your age back to 14 to set your profile to Private, but I'm talking about kids probably in 6-8th grade on there. It's a cool site, but it shouldn't be spanning that far.

I got turned onto the site about a year ago by a girl I was dating at the time who was really into it.  Ironic that I found out thanks to that site that she was screwin around behind my back.  After that, I got into the site big time and it's amazing how many people from high school I've found or that have found me that I haven't seen in years (some since graduation.)  I have some bands in my friends list, just to keep up on bulletins they post about shows and info and stuff, but everyone in my friends list is someone I know personally.  I avoid adding someone just for the sake of bumping my friends total.

Upon review of this fine site, Dressel Rebel officially condemns myspace.com.  This site seems like nothing more than a magnet for pillars of society such as pedophiles, rapists, and other assorted winners.  Even when used for it's intended purpose, this site basically serves as a narcissitical self-tribute where the user basically builds a shrine to pay homage to...well...themselves.  Silly stuff.

I'm not a big user of myspace, (I signed up for an account last year sometime I think and never did much with it).  Like AOL, it's a great way for people who don't know a lot to be able to interact with others on the internet, like most of us have been doing for years without it's help.

Still, it does have a cool community feature about it.  I'll definitely vouch for that:  In the last year, even though I never update the thing, 3 people who I'd lost touch with found me through that website and we've started talking again because of it.  One was a cousin who I haven't seen since I was a freshman in high school.

I guess it's not all bad.

Feh.  MySpace is jus the latest "evil" the media has picked up on.  First it was e-mail then chat rooms then blogging and now this.  I did an interview with Reuter's afew weeks back and near the end of the interview, I told him to watch out for outrage over www.youtube.com that is coming.  MySpace, like all teen fads, is nearly over by the time the news and such report about it.

The best thing to do is to teach children about the dangers of sharing too much private info publicly.  Keeping your nose in your kids' business is probably a good idea too.

Would those with bad intentions actually register?  Can you browse around the site without being a member?

In fact, that's one of the reasons why I don't register at places like myspace.  I don't need some ****** up yahoo stealing my account and luring "kids" over to his house for milk and cookies.

Well another hottie teacher violated her probation by setting up her MySpace site to communicate to the 13-year old she had sex with.  Here is the MSN Article (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12289591/) about it.

Her site has been removed, guys.  Says so in the article.

She is a pedophile, and commited statuatory rape.  But I will ask what every guy asks when we see these hottie teachers:
WHERE WERE THESE TEACHERS WHEN I WENT TO SCHOOL??  :o

I have to admit I've gotten some pretty weird people sending me messages through that site.  Some chicks in my area too... crazy people out there.  Good thing though is two people I went to high school with I've gotten back in touch with, so it's not all bad.

Does anyone else on MySpace get a lot of friend requests from hot chicks with webcams? I know that these girls aren't looking on MySpace at all, and rather that someone else is doing the work for them, but I was just curious.

And by hot girls with webcams you mean 50 year old men with the webcam of some girl right?

Very much so, yes. It's clear these girls aren't doing the work, if they're even on MySpace at all.

It's just annoying as hell, and I was curious if everyone else is getting them.

Post by: Nick on July 4, 2006, 10:17 AM
I was wondering how many memebers are on myspace?

Perhaps we could start a thread (mods feel free to move to a more appropriate section) where we could post links and get to know each other a bit better?

I'm here-

Hey Nick, just got your invite.  Cool site.

And despite the bad rap that myspace has, I have a good time there.  I just use it as a fun site to chat with a few of my buddies, and once in a while have a friendly chat with a few of the ladies I was friends with in high school and college.

My friends and I made a video for the Fox Storyteller Challenge. If you're a registered myspace user, you can help us out by watching the video and giving us a thumbs up. It's only five minutes long.

http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=21649322

If you need some additional incentive, everyone who votes is entered to win an Archos personal media player. The last chance to vote is Friday morning, November 16.

Thanks!
