Post by: jedistyle on June 21, 2006, 11:43 AM
Hey everyone! It's been a while since I've posted anything. I just returned from over seas and most of my stuff is still packed away in New York, but I'm in California now and have put together a small collection to get me by until I get the rest of my stuff. Most of the pics in my old thread are gone since I got rid of my picture hosting service when I left, so I'm sarting a new thread. So as always, please enjoy and feel free to leave any comments or suggestions, thanks!

That's a beautiful custom Jedistyle... one of the best of this Jedi I've seen.  Excellent painting and his bright outfit looks perfect.  Good subtle weathering too.

Post by: jedistyle on June 21, 2006, 06:11 PM
thanks for the encouragement guys, i appriciate it!

PenDragon- here a recipe for you:
torso & arms - aotc colman trebor
legs - potf bespin lando calrissian
hands, head & feet - potf hammerhead

the hands and feet have articulation, as well as the shoulders. the head does have articulation and turns, but some times comes off, so i'm thinking of just gluing it down, not sure yet though.

thanks again guys, glad you enjoyed it!

Excellent work on this. I have to agree this is one of the nicest I've seen.
beautiful detailing on the robes. And I love the fact that you kept his articulation. Good work.

Undoubtably one of  the best Roron Corobb Customs I have ever seen.  Good parts choice, great paint apps, and nothing looks outta place, no mismatched joints.  Just beautiful to look at.  The coleman trebor neck blends very well with the Ithorian head.  Excellent work overall.

Post by: BrentS on June 26, 2006, 02:35 PM
That is an outstanding Roron Corobb.  I really like the light color robes.  I tried to capture the same essence with my version a while ago but this one is just amazing!  I'm surprised how well the neck on Coleman fits in with the Ithorian head.  Great.

I think I see some GI JOE accessories mixed in?

Very cool looking Bounty Hunter.  Where is that helmet contraption from?  I can't place it.  I really like all the parts on this.  My one minor criticism is the way the legs attach to the lower torso, there are a lot of gaps.  I had this same problem with one of my customs and fixed it with the softgoods kilt.  I wonder if there is a tunic piece that could be used to hide this??

Great Bulq, JediStyle. Paint apps look very good! I remember Sora having a darker skin tone in the comics, though, but I'm not 100% sure. Add the fact that I'm partially colourblind, I shouldn't be talking about colours at all  ;)

I'm very curious whose arms you used, though. They might work for my Kass Tod figure...

Post by: jedistyle on July 12, 2006, 04:03 PM
thanks for the great comments guys, i really appriciate it! here's a reciper for you:

head & hands = saga sora bulq
torso & upper arms = clone wars mace windu
lower arms = aotc shaak ti
skirt = potj eth koth
legs = rots kit fisto
feet = potj luke skywalker

he is fully articulated except for the elbows, originally i had started using the clone wars mace windu lower arms as well ,but didn't like how they looked, so i decided to go with somthing that flared at the end. i had a set of aotc shaak ti arms laying in the bin and they fit well after some trimming and the addition of some posts.

thanks again for the comments guys and i hope to be updating gain soon, of course with more jedi!

That is a great Sora Bulq- alot better than the version I did!

On the flared arms thing, do you have a set of RotS Sasee Tin arms? Those would look good and still be articulated.

Very cool, I don't know the character, but he looks good.  Althoough, from the one pic I've seen of him, your version would look better with a blackwash on the exposed flesh, it looks too light right now.  Still, Great work!

Post by: Quazar on July 14, 2006, 02:52 AM
I like the Vos, but I LOVE the Sora Bulq!!!  Awesome improvement to an already fine figure.  He looks TERRIFIC!!

You did a very good job with Vos' hair, don't be too hard on yourself, but I am not crazy about the choice of heads.....still, some fine customizing!!

I think Vos looks really good.  I think the sculpy hair came out very nice.  What head is that?  For that matter, I'd like the whole recipe.  Keep up the fine Comic Book versions of these characters.

thanks for the comments guys, it's much appriciated!

brent -  here's the recipe:

head = potj eth koth
torso = aotc deluxe mace windu
arms = aotc tatooine ambush anikin skywalker
hands = a couple randoms from my pile of hands
legs = rots kit fitso

lance - i chose that head because of the scowl he has going and the already existing hair made for a stable base to attatch my sculpy hair to. what head do you think would be good for vos? i have another eth koth head i wad going to use for my dark vos but if you have any suggestions i'd definetley appriciate it.

thanks agian guys!

All of the above jedi are amazing, especially the dri brushing and washes on Sora Bulq and Roron Corobb,  really briings out the detail and you captured the essence of Dark Bulq from the comics very well.  Just need a pic of him fighting Vos or stabbing Oppocis Rancis.

Your customs are awesome! I really like your use of drybrushing and washes. I especially like the Aqualish Peasant, the "real hair" whiskers came out great. I've tried working with small hair details in the past and it would just come out messy. Yours looks professional ;D

Post by: CHEWIE on July 25, 2006, 08:25 PM
You have been on one hell of a roll here lately!

Aqualish Peasant - one of the coolest customs I've seen on the JD boards in a long time.  Very creative and look at the hair on his face!  Wow!  I'd buy several of this figure if it were available.

Aayla - Looks like an improvement on a good figure, which is hard to do.

Trandoshan - Really catches my eye.  Very nice use of parts and painting... I like the dull skin tone a lot.

Human Jedi - Talk about turning a dull Jedi into something that jumps out at you!  Great paint scheme and contrast on his outfit.

Shivastanian Wolfman - Very nice too, that's one of the best ideas for hair braids I've ever seen.

Zabrak Jedi Padawan - Another stellar effort.  I don't like that head sculpt, but it still looks great.  Really excellent dry brushing on this one.

Very nice update Jedistyle!!

=Tri Sunor= Mercenary & Jedi Killer (former Jedi Master)

A Survivor of the Battle Of Geonosis, The Clone Wars and Order 66, former Jedi Master Anzor Sunor is a great warrior and a force to be reckoned with. After fighting his way through battalions of traitorous Clones, watching the fall of the Jedi Order and sensing the coming darkness closing it's grip on the galaxy, Tri, as many other Jedi, assumed another identity and went underground. Sheding his Jedi robes, he took up the title of mercenary. Anzor changed his name to Tri, armed himself well, including a modified heavy blaster he "reappropriated" from a dispatched ARC Trooper and carried 2 lightsabers, claiming to be a Jedi killer to amplify his mercenary persona. The 2 lightsabers are actually his own and that of his fallen Padawan, who was killed during Order 66. Tri has become a wanderer, hoping one day to somehow bring justice back to the galaxy and return the Jedi Order to it's former place in a broken galaxy.

Tri was last seen on Dantooine with a small faction of the growing Anti-Empire movement. His current whereabouts are unknown......

thanks for the grat comments guys! i appriciate them.....

darth_anton - for the most part i use model master acrylics, but in an effeort to avoid having to mix paints to get colors, i also use a brand called americana, it's pretty cheap, an acrylis from micheal's crafts. they make every color under the sun and while it takes about 3 coats to get the area completely covered, it is thin and dosn't come out chunky. thanks for your aomments and intrest man!

You can't go wrong with Vos customs.  ;D I've still yet to tackle the "dark" version of him due to the fact I wanted decent (ie. Not G.I.Joe) bare arms. But even thought you have limited articulation you pulled off a sharp custom.

The Arc Trooper is beautiful. I like the two different shades of blue on it.

Kidding aside I really like it. The only thing Im torn on is the soft good hair. I like  the hair but just seems too thick. Perhaps it'll grow on me.  What are those arms from?

:D i'm glad you like metal jedi! the hair is a a bit thick. it's made from some black hep rope i got from micheals crafts. i think i may do another with some thinner strands, these just looke really dreadish. the arms are actually still the CW kit fitso upper arms dremmeled out with evo palpatines lower arms fit in them. thanks again man!

Good job on the arms then I am barely getting the hang of dremeling head and helmets out. I don't know if Id have the patience for doing arms like that.

it's been a while since i've updated here, so here goes! :). the first in a series of customs i'm doing.
"Order 66 Jedi Survivors". i always enjoy hearing your comments and suggestions so please feel free to leave them! :)

Jedi master Bii-Trow was in the Jedi Temple when "Order 66" was issued. She is gifted with remakably powreful healing skills and was tending the wounds of several Jedi that had just come back from battle across the galaxy when Darth Vader and the 501st marched into the temple. Master Bii-Trow fought bravely against the clone trooper of the 501st, trying desperatly to evacuate the wounded Jedi she was tending. Despite her best efforts and all her Jedi skills, she barely managed to save her self and 2 of the 6 wounded Jedi. Master Bii-Trow and her Jedi bretheren made thier way through the crumbling temple and hoards of troopers to escape to the underbelly of Courosant, where they were able to barter passage of planet before the Jedi were denounced as "traitors" to the Republic. The current whereabouts of Bii-Trow and her fellow Jedi are unknown.......

bii-trow- ;D now that's awesome.  I thought of doing something like this with one of Nabrun's species.  This is an awesome custom, any chance of getting a side shot to see how you dremeled this?  Dark Vos, modified arms, is really great.  Better articulation = better figure  ;).  The only thing I'd change on him would be to give him some Tusken Raider hands, just because they're wrapped as well and would blend in better with the forearm wraps.

=Braz Kirez= Rebel Fighter/former Jedi Knight("order 66" survivor)

Braz was a Jedi Knight at the fall of the Republic. He was on a Repubic Gunship, full of Clone Trooper when "Order 66" was given. The Clone Commander on the Gunship tried to make quick work of him, pointing a blaster at the back of his head, but it didn't go as planned. Braz, getting a small force tremor that somthing wasn't right avoided the blast. He fought with all his skills and force ability to hold off the Clone Troopers, but with all the fighting in such close quarters, the gunship was damaged and crippled, crashing to a canyon floor. The crash killed every last trooper and nearly killed Braz as well. He SLummperd out of the crash and made his way to a downed V-Wing fighter, who's pilot was KIA. The Starfighter was operational and Braz made his way off planet. he went into a Jedi healing trans and flaoted the galaxy for 8 days. After he was well he made his way to Tatooine. There he met up with an old Quarren friend who filled him in on the recent rumors and holovid broadcasts. Always a man of action, Braz quickly utilized his resources, contacting others who resist the New Empire. He and his amll group of rebel friends prepare, plotting, arming themselves and organizing other resitance groups, so that they may stike back at the new evil empire when the time is right.....

=Imperial Crew Chief=

Imperial Crew Chiefs are trained and qualified to maintain and operate nearly every vehicle or starfighter in the Imperial arsenal. They are commonly used as door and tail gunners in AT-AT's and Imperial Drop Ship's for ground troops. They are armed with light weapons and advanced helmets that give technical read outs and specs of all Imperial craft and supply a direct link to whatever vehilce the wearer's in and that vehicles status. A little seen but very intrical part of Imperial operations, Imperial Crew Chiefs are needed in all Imperial Operations.

Copied from Yak -

Imperial Crew Chief - I totally LOVE this design... I am going to have to copy this. The brown fatigues really work well with the white armor. Very, very nice design and execution.

Male Jedi Knight - Cool design and some really good painting. The stripes had to be a pain in the arse to paint like that... really creative though and well done. The only thing I don't like is the hair... I guess seeing a "Rykrof Enloe" head with that hair to me is a little different; maybe I'm biased.

Mandolorian - Cool stuff, I like the painting as always. He might need some shoulder armor to look a little more tough, but still a nice figure. He looks like he'd be fast and agile.

Antra Ulor - Very good and creative. Her neck might be a bit long... but that's ok. I really, really like this custom. It's always nice to see more ladies made and this one looks fantastic. I really like the parts used with the POTC torso and the paint scheme on this one is great.

Ithorian Merchant - My favorite of the bunch. I just love Ithorians and you are so good at painting them. The gauntlets are a nice touch.

...............................  Sorry I was following Chewie's bouncing jugs. :P

Love the coloring on the Ithorian, is he an elder or just his skin tone?

Antra I like, but have to agree the neck is a little long and the eyebrows the way they are looks like she just got shot in the ass.

Reeeeeaaally dig the crew cheif.  Do you have any problems with paint chipping?  and the legs straps are awesome I gotta try that.

Padawan Rykrof? good looking Jedi, the stripes look good but might be too many, but it's still solid.  What part are the belt area from?

Love the Mando good paint scheme all around, Vader boots? blends in perfect.

thanks alot for your feedback everyone.

jedipurge - the ithorian wasn't supposed to be an elder, thats just hi skin tone, mabey he's sun bleached from working in the market every day. :D

on the crew chief, for the most part, and especially with this particular sculpt, no i don't have much trouble with paint chipping. every now and then i'll have an elbow chip a bit, but shoulders and knees are usually very solid.

the rykoff jedi's belt is from CW kit fitso.

the mando's boots are from vader, good call. thanks again for you comments.

thanks for all your feedback and comments guys!

jedipurge - glad you like the reborn, i actually used that head because it fit the neck post with no mods and i didn't semyself using it on anything else in the near future. :) i do my lines on the armomr markings by mix of masking and eyeballing, it just depends on how flat or bumpy the surface is. thanks again.

deanna - thanks for you compliments. it's nice to hear from you. :)

jesse james -  yea, the reborn is from the outcast game, not quite game accurate, but i was happy with the way it turned out. thanks for your comments and i'm glad you enjoye dthe customs.

robo-quack - thanks for your comments man!

here's an update woth a couple of knuckle head that i recently finished. i hope you enjoy them and as always feel free to leave any commetns suggestions and feedback as it is always appriciated! :D

=Gindray Sor=

Gindray is a small time business sentient who deals in just about anything he can get his hands on from Weapons, Rare stones and Antiquties, to Lavish garments and ocassionaly even Spice. He is well respected and in contrast to most his competition and his trade, very honest & an overall good sentient. Most recently Gindary has been aiding a small group of Anti-Imperial fighters, known as the GLM, supplying them with the latest in weapon upgrades and supplies. Though it's risk to his business and his very life, Gindray has built a great friendship with some of the GLM members and has even become interested in thier cause.

=Zosh Rupolque=

A widley renoun mechanic Zosh has been employed by the former Republic, worked on Jeid craft, has recently helped with some designs for Upgrades to Imperial crafts and is currently doing some frelance work. His skill with a Hydro-Spanner is equaled only by his uncanny ability to find the problem just by listening and feeling the craft he is working on. Because of this unique talent Zosh uses only a small UB-73 scanning droid to evaluate the rest of the ship while he works and an 615-L assitant droid to do meanial tasks and fetch tools. He costs a bit more than your average space Mecahnic, but his quality and speed make him well worth the Credits......

this guy was done for the yakfinities monthly custom challenge @ yakface. nothing to fancy, basicly a repaint with a cloak. i hope you enjoy it and as always feedback or suggestions are always appriciated. :)

=Narroyyo= Cantina Owner

Narroyyo is a well off Wookie. He left Kashyykk at a very young age as a traveler, seeking excitment and has had good fortune. He is a skilled Sabac player and a wise investor and hase even opened his own establishment called the "Mad Claw Cantina". It's a little on th eold side, not very glamerous or extravagant, but the "Mad Claw" is a favorite among upper class and low lifes alike. Narroyyo has his own security crew and 2 employees. Even with his secutrity crew, Narroyyo tends to settle disputs and fights in his Cantina his self, and this Wookie, like all others, is not to be taken lightly..........

=Mazer Tnikill=Mandolorian Warrior/Bounty Hunter

Mazer is on of few Mandolorians left wandering the Galaxy. He takes security jobs and Bounty's here and there andhas even been know to smuggle from time to time. He prefers solitude from the general population, as he belives all other sentients are inferior to Mandolorians. Mazer follows rumors of other Mandolorians through out the Galaxy, though he reguards Boba Fett as an abomination and disrespect to  the great Jango Fett, trying to rebuild the Mandolorian civilization and honor and take back what is thiers by right. As every Mando, Mazer is an extremly dangerous man and all sentients are wise to steer clear of him.....

Post by: PenDragon on May 15, 2007, 08:41 AM
WOWZERS!

I LOVE these 2!

=Thug/Guard= -  I really dig this use of the Overkill head - looks perfect with this concept! Also to be dug instantly: there is such a great mix of parts here that the original donors (with the exception of the torso, and maybe the hands) are stricken from my mind as I look at the figure as a whole. Awesome!  Only thing I might suggest is more weathering on the helmet. It seems to stand apart from the rest of the figure with it's lack of your signature paint-apps.

=Mazer Tnikill= - What an absolutely beautiful use of this already beautiful figure! The colors which you've chosen work very well together. The use of the Sandtrooper arms is nicely subtle, and works seamlessly. But my absolute favorite things on this Mando are the details! The white belt w/ black pouches, the white parts on the feet, the yellow pouches, the buckle on the leg pocket, the badge-type pieces on the chest, etc, etc, etc. Freakin' fantastic man! 8)

Those are some sharp looki9ng fan-fic guys there Style, I like them both...

-Mandalorian...  Incredible paintjob, really setting him apart from Boba.  It was tough to tell the parts you used, but I thought that was a McFett.  Some people have to be wetting themselves since it's been such a hoarded figure. :)  The paint's incredible though, and great weathering to give the wear/tear of use look to your figure.  The Marauder Inc. gun is great to spice it up and separate it from Hasbro's weaponry as well, and the pack gives the figure enough of a different look from Boba as well.  Just a genearlly great use of parts for a unique look, and a paintjob that masks everything very well.

-Guard/Thug...  The Overkill Head is pretty cool looking on this guy and I didn't recognize that at all.  I thought you maybe sculpted a mask over the Y-Wing Pilot head from the Cinema Scene.  The way the Neimoidian Helmet covers it is perfect though, very cool...  Articulation looks pretty good on this one too.  Maul's legs are great for that baggy look that Jabba's Guards had on their clothing...  Again it's another great use of colors as well.  The washes give a worn look while the red of the shirt looks very SW-ish.

Some of those POTC figures are just the ideal for a figure like this due to their armor and such as well.  Fine work on both figures, thanks for sharing man.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

=Imperial Commando Cpt. Cody, IC-349=

After the formation of the Empire the Clone Army was reorganized and put under direct command of Non-Clone Imperial Officers. With no need of the specialized Clone Commanders they were reassigned to other commands and detachments. Commander Cody, former Commander of the 212th regiment, volenteered to lead a sqaud of new Imperial Commandos consisting of almost all Non-Clones, since most of the Republic Commandos where lost in the CloneWars. Though many of the Non-Clone Troopers dislike Clones, Cody's squad quickly found that his combat experience made him an outstanding teacher and leader, despite the fact that he was grown in a jar. The sqaud is now one of the top Special Ops unit's in the Imperial Arsenal and Cody is highly regarded and respected by both Officers and Troopers alike.....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
=Imperial Commando Sgt. Vach, IC-250=

Originaly an officer aboard a Battle Cruiser during the CloneWars, Sgt. Vach was quick to volenteer for the most gruling training and assignments. This quickly lead him to volenteer for Commando training after the formation of the Empire. Vach is a hard edged, grity soldier that actually enjoys a good fire fight. He's as hard on his Troopers as he is on the enemy, which is on of the reasoans his squad is one of the top Special Ops unit's the Empire has. He didn't much care for Clones, but has learned alot from his Squad Leader Cpt. Cody and has a great respect for him after seeinghim prove his worth time and time again in battle. Vach follows Cody's orders without hesitation and is the driving force of the squad on every mission.....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
=Imperial Commando Cpl. Sagen, IC-113=

Sagen is a loner. He prefers to work alone, which is why he volenteered to leave the regular Stormtrooper ranks and join the Imperial Commandos. He is a dead-eye shot and serves as the teams sniper. Sagen can cover his team from seemingly impossible distances with percision accuracy. Despite his disgruntal attitude, Sagen great respects both Cody and Vach and never questions thier missions or orders. Weather it be on a mountain top with a high powered blaster rifle or raiding a complex full of enemie's, Sagen is definetley one of the most dangerous men in the squad and the Empire.......

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
=Imperial Commando Cpl. Olonj, IC-310=

Olonj is an electronics and explosives genius. He can take any junk heap and turn it into a device that can turn the tide of a battle. He serves as the squads communications man and explosives expert. Olonj carries a high powered commo pack that allows him to call for reinforcments or airstrikes from any where no matter how deep in a complex or jungle the sqaud might be. He is a quick thinker and a tough trooper who ecxelled in Stormtrooper trainging and was offered the oppurtunity to try out for the Imperial Commandos. He has learned alot from his sqaud mates and be the saving member of the sqaud on more than one mission. Olonj contribution to the teams is invalubale..........

Wow, your customs are just amazing. My favorites so far are the imperial commandos. The latest batch of clones you made were pretty cool too, and they got me thinking. Do you think you can do a galactic marine in the shock trooper color scheme? I think if done right it would look awsome and you're just the guy to do it. Again nice job these are fun to look at.
