It's been a few weeks now... what seem to be the top selling figures in your area? 

Here in St. Louis, I do more than my share of toy runs, so here's what seem to be the hottest of these first 32 figures -

#1 - Clone Trooper
#2 - Battle Droid
#3 - Darth Vader
#4 - Emperor Palpatine
#5 - Grievous (4-saber)

Other than that, basically a ton of Jedi hanging on the pegs, including the main ones in Anakin, Obi Wan and Yoda.  Still see quite a few Super Battle Droids and Magna Droids as far as army builders go... and then more than a few of R2D2, Padme, Bail, Mothma, etc... but mostly the top five list that I mentioned are the hardest ones to find now in my area.

Kinda curious to see if everyone else is seeing a similar trend, something different, etc.

So, what would you say are the top five selling figures (only 1-32) in your area so far?

 

Jesse - I think you would be an excellent man to do some sort of custom reviews... remember the Critique of the Week that used to go on?  Well I think you would be ideal for something like that here on the main page. 

You could do all sorts of things - custom figures, playsets, photonovels, vehicles, etc. - you name it.

It would be cool to start off with something like Muftak's Death Star playset he made, and then take it from there.

I like the idea of the photonovel section and really appreciate the staff attempting to help us out... I was hoping we might actually have a link on the front page or something with them hosted here... but this is still pretty cool.

The only thing is, I don't know if newbies and others will even see there is a Photonovel section... it's a bit hard to notice if you don't know it's up there.  I am afraid there might actually be a bit less activity with it where it is.

I don't know... what do you guys think?  Am I wrong?

Could one of the staff members maybe show on the front page "news" section that there is a new section to the forums or something?

Maybe I take these photonovels too seriously... but I think they are very cool and a great part of the hobby.  I enjoy making them, and reading Lance Quazar's stuff as well as JediKnight760071's new photonovel... I want everyone to be able to experience them.  I bet there's a decent sized group of collectors who don't even know they exist.

 

These are always my favorite topics.  All of our creating minds coming together to come up with ideas that Hasbro will probably never do.   

- Yoda w/ Kashyyyk Escape Pod

- Palpatine w/ Senate Pod

- Preggo Padme w/ Medical Bed and Medical Droid

- Eopie w/ Obi Wan

 

Well?  I've got a few up my sleeve... nothing too dramatic, but a few that I think might be cool.  Mainly stuff for the photonovels and some ROTS stuff...

Here's what I want to do -

PLAYSETS/DIORAMAS

TPM - Trade Federation Cruiser playset... I don't even know where to start

AOTC - Theed Palace playset... again, how they hell could I do this?

ROTS - Kashyyyk - that should be easy... maybe a few other planets - too early to tell yet

ANH - I really want to make a nice Death Star playset... been contemplating this for about 5 years... I have the Ultaramas right now which are ok

ESB - I want to make a kiler Bespin playset... been paying close attention to the one Muftak has been working on

ROTJ - Throne Room, Rancor Pit, Sail Barge, Sarlacc Pit


FIGURES

- Prequel Lars Family... may have a good friend (Owen D) commission a Cliegg Lars for me

- new Mandalorian for the Rykrof Enloe Series - Bledda is his name... this one is almost complete

- Tarfull... the ROTS one is ok, but I think I can do better; started on this one last night

- Ultimate Obi Wan... ROTS style... I did one already, but think he's a bit too tall maybe


That's basically what I have on tap right now... obvioulsy some of the playsets may never fully come to fruition.

In an effort to start something new here, I am going to start up a weekly or bi-monthly custom diorama spotlight in this thread, showing a diorama made by a fellow customizer that I would someday like to emulate.

This week's spotlight is a Hoth playset that a customizer named Christopher Rogers made.  While this may not be film accurate, it's a great display piece of Echo Base, and reminds me of the vintage Micro Hoth World playset from the early 1980s.

Someday I would like to be able to make something similar to this.  Maybe a bit more film accurate; but nonetheless, this is outstanding work and I really am impressed with it.



 

I've had a lot of suggestions on changes/what I should have done different on certain photonovels.  Either PM's at RS.com or emails usually.  I have therefore decided that it may be better to have a second opinion on these before releasing them.

Famine, you are an obvious choice on these as you usually see them before they are posted anywhere.  Do you want to be a first opinion for me?  Like maybe give me some feedback on them before they are posted?

Or is anyone else interested in this too?  My thought is to proceed with my regular ideas, and then send them on as usual - but to maybe get a second opinion before posting the final story, as these aren't just for me; but hopefully for the entertainment of others - or so I hope.
