In the OT Incredible Cross-sections book there was a drawing of a speeder bike on Hoth with some sort of cold-assault trooper wearing a combo of scout and snowtrooper armor. As I recall it was snowtrooper armor with the scout helmet.
No telling if that's what will be in this set though.

Good Choices. The Mygeeto BP is obvious who is in it. Ki-Adi-Mundi, Bacara, 2 Galactic Marines. Maybe we will get an kit-bash Bacara with using the SA Clone body. The Hoth Speeder Bike Patrol sounds great, just has long it comes with 2 VTAC Snowtroopers but I think its an error because I think its the delay Hoth Patrol BP that comes with Luke, Tauntaun and Wampa that was announced at the Comic Con last year.
Well, Hasbro called this new item (assortment 87504 number 87788) "HOTH SPEEDER BIKE PATROL" so take that as you will. I mean, I guess it could be an elaborate red herring.

I could always use more Vintage Anniversary Thirtieth Collection snowtroopers! JK. ;D The Hoth pack sounds interesting. I will also probably end up buying the Mygeeto pack for my bridge diorama. I'm guessing the Mygeeto one will include Ki-Adi, two Galactic Marines, the crappy Bacara, and an octuptarra droid.

I agree with Sal about what I think I'd prefer...
I'm not a fan of the Speederbike. Besides the sculpt inaccuracies, the bike itself is too large and has needed an update. A smaller bike would also be a great help since you could adapt it to fit the VTSC Scout so he rides the bike and sits properly with his feet on the pedals and things. Add in the "clear" stand I've been clamoring for now for years, and it'd be such a sweet piece. I'm assuming though, that we'll get repacked, repainted speederbikes... Meh.
The figures though, could make/break my desire to buy the set as well. Like Sal, I'd prefer a mishmashed Hoth Stormtrooper/Snowtrooper, and Biker Scout. The design was used in the Incredible Cross Sections to give the "Hoth Bike" look... It's pretty cool, but would require new tooling I'm afraid. It's doable with some existing parts though... So I'm hoping that's what they go for. I'd dig the figures, maybe try selling the bikes. It's a cool looking design if you see it... I can't find a pic online though.

This can be readily done with:
Biker Scout Helmet
Snowtrooper body
Biker Scout legs
Biker Scout backpack-this would be the only special tooling here and would fit into the hole already made for the traditional Snowtrooper backpack. So it's a very easy figure to be made.
And of course a white speederbike.

True enough, but I wouldn't expect that from Hasbro. We know they want to skimp on things, so those would be the first to go.

I'm expecting the Hoth Speeder Bike Patrol to look just like the Titanium Blizzard Force Speeder Bike that just came out.
Essentially it's a Snowtrooper on a white/gray speeder bike.
We'll probably get a pair of them with General Veers (who has been identified as commanding Blizzard Force).

Actually, the POTF2 speeder bikes are made of much sturdier plastic than what we've been getting in the bikes lately and these will more than likely suck just as much. We are WELL overdue for SpeederBike retool but I'm not holding my breath (lost my rebreather the other night)

If it is this figure I'll get two sets, more if it's a new speederbike depending on construction/sculpt, etc.
I'm SO tempted to make a custom of this fig now, but will resist that desire until I see what this battle pack looks like. If it's NOT this fig, then I smell a serious custom happening.

This one would rock, as if you look at the unit on the bike, it's the Snowtrooper backpack. Do as said above with the new tool Scout backpack with hoses that connect to a Snowtrooper backpack that fits onto the; and here is the deal maker or breaker the Saga version of the Speederbike. That is about the best version they have even know it's still too big and the steering vains are all wronge, but it has the better control arms and looks much cooler than the POTF2 version. That is if they are going the cheap route.
As others have said though it would be awesome for a new tool Speederbike, as they are my favorite, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Works for me! I don't need another Galactic Marine but the sets all seem great otherwise. It looks like they tweaked the Speederbikes a little for the feet, but it might just be something they did for the picture. The kitbashed Bacara is nice too.

Looks like a cool set, though I'm a little bummed that it will probably cost $20 for two figs and two mini-vehicles. The usual BPs have 5 characters - I'd much rather get three more figs than two hoth Speederbikes. :P

Yeah, but we got a similar treatment with the Wal-Mart Exc. "Treachery on Saleucami" BP. That one was $20.

I didn't really think that one was worth $20 either. :-\ At least it came with two "new" figures and was the first of its kind. I wonder if the two troops will be identical? If so, maybe I can live with just getting one loose and splitting the pack with someone. ;)

Amen. I do really like these the more I look at them, but I wish it was a better value. They could easily have included a third trooper or made the set $15 instead of $20. Oh well, I will buy at least two regardless. :-\

The overall value doesn't seem that bad to me. I guess if they were to issue Blizzard Force Biker Scout w/Speeder Bike as a Deluxe figure, it would be a $10 item.
So I see Hasbro's thinking here, you get two of the same Deluxe figures in a single box for $20. Add to that the fact that the figures themselves are kit-bashed combinations of two figures that originally retailed for $10 each. Heck factor in that we currently pay $7 for each figure. That means that the cost of the two speeder bikes is somewhere between $0 and $6. To me that's a pretty good value.

Are either of these two (Mygeeto and Speeder Bike Patrol), or the Hoth one we were shown at Toy Fair coming out prior to the 7/26 date?
We got a bit more clarity on these in the latest Q&A session (http://www.jedidefender.com/newspro/fullnews.cgi?newsid1207355042,5966,):
** Battle of Mygeeto should be out on shelves by mid-April or early May. It will be the last of the 30th Anniversary Battle Packs in the current "footprint." A new line of Battle Packs will debut on 7/26, with slightly different boxed dimensions (a little deeper, a little less tall). Hoth Speeder Patrol was suffering delays and had to be moved out, and will be in the first wave of the new Fall assortment.

The Troopers look better on the back of the box.
They appear to be all white, but the back had the legs and arms grey with white armour.
hopefully this is a test sample and they are more like the box

Definitely a weaker vehicle... It's not sturdy, and really needs the clear floating stands we'd suggested in a Q&A with Hasbro. They were seemingly receptive to resculpting the bike someday too, but unfortunately that wasn't in time for the bike to get back out again.
My top 3 needed ship resculpts are this, the AT-ST and Snowspeeder... Beyond that I have hopes for larger ships, but I'm not really expecting it.

I'm sure I'll get at least two of these maybe a few more. Scouts are my favorite trooper by far, so I can't resist them. I'd so much rather pay $15 and get no speeders though. :-\

I'm going to have to make my decision about purchasing this when I actually see it with my own eyes. So far I'm thinking I'll be able to pass, it just doesn't do much for me.

Opened this up last night and I have to say, what a disappointment. The kit-bash doesn't work well together (looks awkward,) that speeder bike mold needs to be burned and to top it all off, they put the republic insignia on the bikes instead of the imperial insignia. ???
Not that Hasbro is bound by the incredible cross-section book, but that kit bash would have been much more effective if they could have done it., bikerscout legs with a modified snowtrooper torso and bikerscout helmet.
In summery, this was one of the sets I was most looking forward to all year and it wound up hating it.

Saw a pic of these from the comic con section head on view for the first time instead of the side view. They remind me how Fel looked with his super huge shoulders. I was REALLY looking forward to these as it's a good idea but the parts just don't meld well. Might get them though and just use them as custom fodder.

I haven't cracked the box yet, but they look ok to me in the package. The insignia on mine is the imperial insignia that they used on the OTC cardbacks. I'll have to see how the troopers look loose, but so far this is the only thing I picked up today.

I found the imperial version today. When I picked it up i was unaware of the variant status, glad i found the imperial version, less to look for.

After cracking them opened, I am not unhappy at all. The gray could have been a little darker to match the saga AT-AT driver a bit better, but I like how they look as EU hoth imperials. And since a regular carded one would be $7.50 to $8.00, the 2 re-painted junk heap speederbikes are a pretty nifty $2.00 accessory.

I found 2 today. Both Republic. I still got them. Just need the Imperial version now.
Once I get the Imp version, I'll look to trade/sell the Republice versions (save one). So that's 3 available.

I assume there is a running change on this set from Republic logo to Imperial logo, thus making the Republic version "more rare"?

The set is "rare" in general around me. I've only seen it once... I seemingly lucked out and bought an IMperial one by accident as I wouldn't really give a hoot on the variant, but honestly I'd probably sell both bikes anyway to recoop some of the cost of the set. I really only wanted the figures. WIsh I could custom one to have a friggin' skirt and look more normal. :(

I finally saw this set in person last night. And to be honest, I was more impressed with the Hoth Recon battle pack that was in the same case. I'll eventually pick this pack up, but it isn't a priority for me.

The set is "rare" in general around me. I've only seen it once...
Weird that this one was one per case, however, I think given that the set is a disappointment, I think it'll be shelf warming soon enough.

The set is not as horrible as I thought. The figures suck Rancor balls but the Speeder bikes are really nice. They are perfect for the new Obi-Wan in clone armor if you have the republic screw up versions. While the are not identical to the episode they look good with those figures on them.

Thanks for that. I saw the hi-rez pictures of them on Yakface today. I totally agree with the arms not working for the figure. I will not be getting this set as there is nothing worth it in there. I might have, if Hasbro would have retooled Scout torso and added the Snowtrooper backpack to the bike and a hose to contect to the Scout.

It is okay for something that was not on screen. It's just something more to add to a Hoth diorama if you wanted to. I will be skipping it to put the funds towards something else though.

Brian, I have an extra "Snow" Speederbike with Scout. If you want it, I got the set for $20 (was $21.40 with tax). So split that in half=$10.70. I'd be willing to sell the extra to you for that price, plus exact shipping. I'd guess shipping to be no more than $3. This way you don't have to buy the whole set, especially if you might only want ONE of the speederbikes/snow scout.
If Brian doesn't want this, then I'll offer it up to anyone else who does.
(Oh and Dan, yours is being sent out to you tonight, just been extremely busy between work and looking for a new home to buy so I kept forgetting to mail it. It goes tonight! Apologies)

I finally caved and bought this a couple of weeks ago. And I was surprised to see that there's a Republic logo on the speederbike, and not an Imperial logo.

Yeah that was a big to-do when they got released. I apparantly "lucked out" and got the ones with Imperial Logos on them. I saw lots with the Republic Logos though, and then really these sets all up and vanished near me. I've not seen it now for quite a while, though I don't frequent TRU and KB to know if they're hanging around there.

JJ do you have a pic of yours with the Imp. logo? I have yet to see an actual pic of a set with them.

I put the bikes in my parts bin because I don't care for them (anyone want them?) and only wanted the figures. Maybe I'm just confusing my logos... I just recall hearing a lot of broohaha about the logo "variant". Perhaps it never existed?
I'll see if I can get a picture of mine maybe with my cell phone. I don't have anything to compare it to though so I'll poke around the net and look when I find my bikes and see what logo they are.

You can compare yours to mine (http://www.yakface.com/TGuide2004/html/TLC/battlepacks/speederrecon.html). There has been speculation in certain circles that there never was a Imperial logo variant, just mass misremembering and conflating of the 2 symbols.
