Surprised this article (http://www.jedinews.co.uk/downloads/tf2009hasbropreview150109.jpg) hasn't been mentioned yet, first posted at Yakface (http://www.yakface.com/) I believe. It looks like the Clone TurboTank is pretty much confirmed for 2009, coming out closer to the holiday season.

Ok so let's see Hasbro deny it now.
The big questions about the Turbo Tank now will be:
• How big is it?
• If 3 3/4 scale, how many figures will it hold?
• Electronics?
• Will it roll on it's 5 sets of wheels?
• Pack in figure?
• Opening Cockpits on both sides?
• Pricepoint?
• Exclusive?
I'm really looking forward to that vehicle. I think it will be a hit. Although I do have concerns that it will be undersized. In ROTS it MUCH bigger than an AT-TE. Though if we were to take the dimensions from the original size it's actually very close in size with an AT-TE. (This is when it was known as the Juggernaut instead of the Clone Turbo Tank.)
So long as it's no smaller than the AT-TE I'll be happy with it. But it would be extremely cool if it were 2X that size or more. If so I'd expect at least a $150 pricetag again. I'm not sure if I'd bite so quickly this time though. I'll buy it for sure, but having seen the AT-TE and BMF go on sale in just a few months, I think there would be a good chance of this going on sale as well and we could save between $20-50 if we are patient.

Thanks, but to JediNewsUK (http://www.jedinews.co.uk/news/news.aspx?newsID=2100) goes the credit. We just passed on the info. ;)

We'll be seeing it in a few weeks anyways. Only one batch of QnA's they can dodge before then.

Let's guess how many sites burn a question asking about it only to have it be categorically denied my Hasbro? :P
-
Fine choice. I'll look forward to it.
-
Meh, it's an AT-TE with wheels.
-
But will those wheels fall off?
-
Meh, it's an AT-TE with wheels.
I have to agree with that assessment. I am sure it will be cool but it will be another room hog.
-
I saw the report and while it may be legit, odds are it was written before the final sales for Holiday '08 came in. I'll be curious to see if it makes the final cut.
-
Very cool news, can't say I didn't expect them to release the Turbo Tank though. Hopefully it's cool enough to justify the extra space it'll take up.
-
Too funny. I just traded for a big custom TT and now there's an official one on the way. Oh well, now I have some insurance in case it doesn't happen or isn't as cool.
-
I think releasing it closer to Christmas is a better strategy than mid-year like they did with the AT-TE and BMF Falcon. Also, just releasing one is probably smarter.
-

I definitely agree with that completely.

Same here.
-
It's probably going to be released in the Fall if anything when the line relaunches for the new season of Clone Wars. That way Hasbro can get sales going through some of Q3 and all of Q4.
-
Good point Nick...probably what we'll see as far as release date. I think Hasbro is learning from their minor mistake by only releasing one large item. How many people only bought one or the other concerning the BMF Falcon and AT-TE. (Raises Hand)
If they had only released one last year and one this year I would probably have both.
-
Check the front page to see a new list of Target numbers. Turbo Tank, $99.99 made the list, among other things.

I have to go the front page for news? The hell is up with that ??? I'm just happy the AT-TE replacement legs seem to be shipping.
-
Or don't... Feel free to wait till it gets posted.
-
Nice score on DPCIs. But I wonder what the Deluxe Vehicle will be. The Y-Wing? Seems that should be more in the $50 range like the B-Wing. Maybe it's The Twilight or a Republic Attack Shuttle?
-
A good question for sure. The low $15.99 price was interesting too... It could be Transformer stuff too, no?
-
I'd say the $15.99 item is the Transformers line. I have no guesses for the $65 item... maybe it's the Y-Wing as well as the BMF Slave 1 everyone wants. (I have no clue why, Boba was a weak character that got eaten by a giant *****)
-
So doing some calculations, a "scale" A5 Juggernaught would be about 4 feet long by 3 feet high. Seriously... And that's the small one. :)
Actually it seems like Juggernaughts are one of those SW vehicles that could come in a wide variety of sizes, and thus there's A5, A6 listings... If this toy comes in small, and I'm sure it will at this point, I suppose I could BS it as a smaller more mobile version... An A2 maybe. ;)
Seriously though, the A5 is the "small" Juggernaught, smaller than the A6 which is what was in ROTS on the Kashyyyk beaches, and that thing by comparison is comically massive. The A5's not far off from an AT-AT's length and about 5 to 7 meters more squat.

I'll start setting $10 a month aside to pay for it. ;)
-

I think the Deluxe Vehicle will be the Twilight. They just can't ignore this ship. It still won't be the correct size, which is fine by me, but it will still be a good size, which is nice. I wish they had done something like this for the Sith Infiltrator.
-
Hmmmm. Deluxe vehicle at a $65 price point? The vehicles that come to mind are the Twilight and the Nu class shuttle.
-

While the Twilight is the more known ship, I'd MUCH rather prefer the Nu class shuttle.
-
I think the Deluxe Vehicle will be the Twilight.
I thought this too initially, but I just don't see it happening. If it has any decent size to it at all, it should be a $100 item. I bet we end up getting a rereleased shuttle or something much less cool.

I'd almost would rather have anything over the Twilight.
-
I'd almost would rather have anything over the Twilight.
Ya I didn't know that the Twighlight would be the "core" good guy vehicle for the Clone Wars after watching the "movie" Thought it was just some POS ride they needed. I'd still be happy with one though.

Credit goes to action figure news.
-
Cool. Too bad there's not a shot of the back of the box. The bike gag is neat.
-
Cool.... I will definitely be buying one. :)
Looks like the pack-in figure might be a repaint of the clone gunner from the AT-TE Assault Squad BP?
-
SWEET!
-
Yup, I'm getting one... Maybe two? Since Juggernaughts seem to come in just various larger/smaller sizes, I can easily BS this thing as being to-scale "from a certain point of view", and so I'll get suckered into it at least once. :) Looks pretty slick on the box too, I just hope it's quite a hefty sized vehicle is all.
-
I still haven't picked up the AT-TE, although I'd like to, but this one might be even more tempting to me. One of my favorite vehicle designs from the PT, and it looks like it could make a really fun toy. We'll have to see if the budget is there, but I hope to be able to grab one. So much for me passing on PT/CW vehicles - they're just too tempting it seems. If its the only "big item" released this year, it will help. Just a box front so far, but it looks kind of cool. Nice to pack in a speeder (as well as a clone) with it too.
-
The ARC-170 box is sitting on top of it for a little size comparison. Unless the box is a total mock-up.
-
The ARC-170 box is sitting on top of it for a little size comparison. Unless the box is a total mock-up.
Kind of. Neither box is fully in view so it's hard to tell how far off tothe right they go. Also can't tell how disassembled the tank is - my first thought was that this is smaller than the AT-TE, but can't really tell based on this. I hope someone comes across a back of box photo shortly...
-
My guess is that it will be about the same size as the AT-TE.
-
You can't tell the depth of the box well, can you? Things at these higher pricepoints don't seem to adhere to the, "box size standard". I think that's applicable to other sizes like the $20 pricepoint where Hasbro's said they fit the ship to the box more than anything. The larger price points probably focus more on the toy and less on the packaging... Unless they're wanting to standardize the $100 pricepoint boxes, but really will they ever do assortments at that price? I doubt it.
-
There could be some assembly required here. Basically this thing is a big box on wheels...with some electronic parts to it.
We'll probably see it at Toy Fare.
-
Exactly. I'm assuming the soon to be faulty wheels amongst other things will have to be assembled to the tank. I saw another pic with the ARC on top of the TT and the box really doesn't look too big.
-
Awesome. I'm really looking forward to this! ;D

From Hasbro's Toy Fair Press Release:
"The next generation of STAR WARS fans are being introduced to the STAR WARS galaxy via the must-see animated series STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS airing on Cartoon Network. As a follow-up to the popular AT-TE vehicle that topped Christmas lists in 2008, the CLONE TURBO TANK is an enormous field vehicle from the animated series, designed to transport up to twenty clone troopers (sold separately) into battle. The TURBO TANK features electronic sounds, running lights, phrases from the animation, a hidden, launchable speeder bike and a removable command center."
Just like the AT-TE and BMF, it sounds like this thing is designed as both a vehicle and a playset of sorts. I'm looking forward to getting a better look at it this weekend. :)
-

AWESOME. I'm getting more and more jazzed for this thing.
-
Same here. Glad to see its in the Toy Fair announcement, so we should definitely get a look at it this weekend. Time to start saving. Like I said, I hope if there's a plan for a 2nd (Original Trilogy) vehicle, they give us a little heads up though. I have to choose one or the other when they're out together like that. That being said, for some reason the announcement of the Juggernaut makes me want to get an AT-TE even more - although I don't currently really have room for either, aside from the floor.
-
PIC up at jediinsider

-
meh...Looks very small as I thought it would be - especially compared to the speederbike. I'm sure there's more hidden within though.
-
You had to figure with the size of that box that it would be scaled down somewhat. But the sculpt looks good and I'm looking forward to adding it to my collection.
-
Agreed with Nicklab... can't wait to get this thing. :)
-
Tank is actually facing backwards in this pic. The dome without the gun is in front and the dome with the gun should be in back. Reference boxed pic.
-
You mean it's ass-backwards?
-
Tank is actually facing backwards in this pic. The dome without the gun is in front and the dome with the gun should be in back. Reference boxed pic.
Well, technically there is no "backwards" to this thing right? Don't they have drivers on both ends of the Tank?
-
Juggernaughts came in at least two varieties... Basically the same thing, only smaller. There's actually possibly more, and possibly smaller, depending on the EU. The concept art for it had it massive, like an AT-AT, while EU's slipped them in here and there and they get increasingly smaller. Likewise the one in ROTS was smaller than the concept art (and the concept art's actually been used in EU itself).
So consider the Juggernaught kind of like the Octuparra droid... It maybe comes ina lot of different sizes, from pretty tiny all the way to friggin' huge. That EU BS is maybe enough for me to ignore the scale issues on this... I'll only be buying one of these though I'm pretty sure.
-
Too bad the picture is small, but cool to see none the less.
-
I too am looking forward to larger, more detailed pictures.
I think it was taken at that angle to show the where the speeder bike will shoot out of.
-
Looks like there's some more pics up at the otheR Site's coverage, including the presentation pics.
-
This vehicle looks huge with lots of playability. I was wondering how the speeder fits with the tank; there is speeder garage in the underside of the vehicle (did not know that). Wonder if this will carry the BMF or AT-TE price tag?
Update: Nevermind, I just read that Approximate Retail Price: $99.99.
-
Looks really fun and looks like another huge (no pun intended) winner. I'll be anxious to pick it up.
-
This seems like a lot more fun than the AT TE, which I don't have still (no room). It will do very well, I imagine, and hopefully we will see more of this kind of thing in the future.
-
I'm really looking forward to this! ;D
-
Update: Nevermind, I just read that Approximate Retail Price: $99.99.
I dunno......I have a bad feeling about that MSRP for some reason "due to the current state of our economy"
-
I've soured a bit since seeing photos... It's not as impressive to me as the AT-TE is, so I'm just not sure on this now. I would consider it for cheaper but at full price I think I'll pass... My minds changed on a lot of the stuff since TF.
-
I feel the same way. Just seems kinda lame to me for some reason, but I'm sure I'll still cave.
-
There is an actual video of the Tank, funny how the speeder is shoot out, I'm looking the original plan sketck to compare...
http://www.rebelscum.com/story/events/tf2009_watch_the_turbo_tank_in_action_121149.asp
That tank is ok, will look cool for display or in a nice diorama.
Here the real stuff.
-
Here's the direct link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rQzsl4JVJM) to the video. Still's don't do it justice, this will be an awesome toy.
-
It looks like a lot of fun and I'm sure the kid will be pleading for it when he sees one up close. Parts of it seem a little goofy like a spring loaded BARC and a removable command center. But I don't blame them for it. It's all in the name of play value for the kids.
-
Easy pass. Kids already have an AT-TE - no room or desire for another $100 toy.
-

And I was thinking that those were some of the coolest features. I also think the Corw's Nest is kinda cool. Definitely a lot of play value with this one.
-
I'm disappointed with the size of it, but it will still be fun to own. (waits for the inevitable misquote...)
Still, it's packed with a lot of features. While I don't "play" with my toys, it will be neat to "test" the features from time to time...
I'm only getting one though. No need for more than that.
-
I am fine with it. Besides I am sure we will all be able to find it for $75 about 4-6 weeks after it is released. You know how that goes. It looks like a fun vehicle to me. I was never expecting it to be close to "scale" or all that big really. I like most of the features on it.
-
It will all depend on budget at the time for me, but it does look pretty cool. Like I mentioned before, I still haven't picked up an AT-TE - and would like to - so it might be one or the other for me. Then, if some unannounced OT vehicle comes up, that will change things too. It might just be because we've seen a couple of large vehicles now - but it doesn't seem like the forums are "buzzing" about this one quite as much as the AT-TE (or even the Falcon) last year.
-
I think that could be because we've been clamoring for an AT-TE since 2002 and a Millenium Falcon that we could put figures in the cockpit since 1995.
The Turbo Tank by comparison has had far less demand.
-
I like this a lot more than the AT-TE. It just screams "Empire" to me because I've always associated it with the OT era.
I'll get two... one for a Clone Wars scene, another for something like this -
(http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars/images/9/92/Juggernautyavin.jpg)
-
Meh....I like the AT-TE much more than this thing - even though I had to doctor the legs, and I'm hoping Hasbro doesn't flub up something on this beast This vehicle doesn't scream OT to me as it may in some eyes - I certainly don't see it, but it should be a fun ride despite my theories of this thing being way over $99.
-
I don't have the AT-TE and I'm not planning on picking up the Turbo Tank.
However,
If I did, I would fill the AT-TE with EPII style Clones and the Turbo Tank with ROTS Cstyle clones.
-
It might not be accurate, but BBTS has this up for preorder, and say they expect it to arrive in April. I thought this was a fall/holiday vehicle, from the way it sounded at Toy Fair.
-
EE is saying May.
-
Didn't the article say out in time for Christmas? Spring is a tad early, but I'm not complaining.
-
Didn't the article say out in time for Christmas? Spring is a tad early, but I'm not complaining.
I am complaining. I wanted time to save up for this thing. If it comes out in spring I'll just skip it most likely. Which probably is a good thing I guess. So maybe I will recant my complaint.
-
I'm not complaining at all... this is great news as far as I'm concerned.
Also, if this is coming out this early, perhaps this opens up the chances for a different big item being released in the Fall.
-

But what item would that be then??
AT-AT?
Sandcralwer?
Sailbarge?
No, I think this is it for big items for this year anyway.
I don't care when it comes out this year. Sooner the better I suppose. I'll be more inclined to buy this sooner than near the end of the year possibly, depending on where the economy goes.
-
It seems that BBTS and EE have changed the release dates to August/September respectively.
-
It seems that BBTS and EE have changed the release dates to August/September respectively.
As has Razor's Edge.
That being said, I'm fairly confident we're not getting another vehicle on this size this year.
-
Same here, and I'm okay with that. One big/expensive vehicle a year is good enough.
-
I noticed in the Q and A's at both GH and MouseDroid mention that the big vehicle program was a "success" and that is why we're seeing the Turbo Tank and the new $60 assortment launching this year. It is always difficult to tell with Hasbro's secrecy, but it sounds again like the Juggernaut is the only big vehicle for this year - which is fine with me as well. They did mention it being on shelf by August 1st as well, so that sounds a little better. Like others, I think one of the $100+ vehicles per year is enough for me. As long as they rotate in an OT ship re-do every so often (like 2010 maybe).
-
Yeah, sounds like less of a chance for another big item now. Bummer in a way, but easier on the wallet...
Or this just means I'll have to get two Turbo Tanks. :D
-
To be honest, I'm glad there's only one "big" item this year.
With the economy like it is, I think it was a smart move on their part too.
-
Or this just means I'll have to get two Turbo Tanks. :D
I made that mistake with the AT-TE - partially because I found one on clearance. One for animated clones and the other for movie. I hope that I don't repeat that mistake this year.
-
Looks like these are coming a little earlier than Christmas if SWShop's shipping estimate holds true (which often times don't). They say it ships in April and are taking pre-orders (http://shop.starwars.com/catalog/product.xml?product_id=1310150) now.
-
Or maybe SWShop didn't get the memo... the other places that put it up with a April/May release date have since pushed it back to Fall:
It might not be accurate, but BBTS has this up for preorder, and say they expect it to arrive in April.
EE is saying May.
It seems that BBTS and EE have changed the release dates to August/September respectively.

WOOHOO!
Scored this today at a mom & pop shop. I was happier about handing them the $99.99 than a big box store like WalMart or Target. And the box is REALLY heavy.
-

Surprised that you found it there before Target or WM have it - nice find!
-
Nice find Nick....got any pics yet?
-
I love Mom and Pop shops, but they usually charge a lot more. Maybe this thing wil be 79.00/ 89.00 at a big box?
-
That store is actually competitive on pricing. Basic Figures there are $7.99. And they also had the new ARC-170 for $49.99. That's was very nice to see after all of the griping around the community about the price point of the deluxe vehicle line.
-
Very cool, what an awesome find! :)
Can't wait until these start to show up around here! ;D
-
Interesting that that store got these, and cool. I'm sure they're still months away from the stores yet, though.
-
Congrats Nicklab! That's awesome!
-
That's awesome!
More awesome than the new JD status icons we all sport!...Well maybe, they are pretty sweet too!
-
Nice find Nick....got any pics yet?

-
Wow. Where is this store? Star Wars Heaven?
-
I noticed that this is currently listed as "in stock" over at BBTS, for $120.
-
I am new here, i just got back into Starwars, i will attach more pictures in coming days.
My Turbo Tank (http://i588.photobucket.com/albums/ss324/evilanimation/turbotank.jpg)
-
Anyone else shocked that they are giving you a "free" BARC with the tank? Seems like the BARC should have raised the price to $125 with Hasbro's current pricing system.
-
Shhh! Don't give them an excuse to raise the price! >:( ;)
-
At least it's not a TRU exclusive or we would be looking at a $185 price tag.
-
I've been seeing this all over now. Can't wait to pick one up.
-
I saw this at Target this morning and I'm very excited. I'm waiting until my paycheck arrives to get it but I'm stoked. Hopefully the Deluxe set with the gunners will be available at the same time.
-
Oddly, I haven't seen one yet, but I'm sure I'll have plenty of opportunities soon.
-
I saw one of these at an "across town/low traffic" Target that was working on their reset. I can't afford it right now, but hopefully I can pick one up eventually (although again, I don't know where I am going to put it).
-
I have yet to see one, but am trying my best to hold off for some kind of sale anyway. I ended up getting the AT-TE for $80 at one point early on at TRU and a free backpack as well. Will be hard to pass on it when I see it though. :-\
-
Got two on Friday. Opened one up yesterday - liked it a lot better than I thought it would.
-
I'm kind of interested to see what the reviews (and sell through) on this will be. It just doesn't seem like there is as much excitement for this as there was for the AT-TE last year. Of course, having just one "big" vehicle this year might help (although the addition of the deluxe vehicle assortment might level that out). I hope to be able to get one eventually if funds allow, but we'll see. I always liked this vehicle, as it is sort of something "different" in the SW movies - something operating on wheels like that. It seems like the majority of the vehicles either hover, fly, or walk.
-
Do you guys ever stop and take the time to listen to the kiddos in the toy aisle? Took my time at a few stores over the weekend and they were going crazy over the Turbo Tank and the new Devestator. Kinda cool to actually hear what they think about these expensive beasts. 8)
-
Hey anyone that bought this:
I may have missed it, but I think it only came with the short clone gun, and not the longer rifle. Some product photography shows two weapons. Did you get both, or just one?
-
At least it's not a TRU exclusive or we would be looking at a $185 price tag.
Yeah but that's just for the box.
If you want the actual turbo tank inside it, that'll be $349.99
------------
I have passed on this for the moment. I saw it for the first time a couple days ago, and for some reason I found it to be dramatically underscaled as compared to the AT-TE. I know the AT-TE is underscaled, but the turbo tank really grabbed my attention as being too small.
Just for poops and giggles, take a look at the size of a wookiee next to a turbo tank tire:
And now, Hasbro's version:
Kind of has the look and feel of a piece of junk, no?
That, and I didn't feel like spending $108 at present. At least not on this. Had I seen the Corporate Alliance Tank Droids, I would not have hesitated.
-
I'm not overly impressed with it either... Scale's one reason, and you'd be surprised how actually close the AT-TE is. It's in the acceptable realm for me. The AT-TE though is a tad more "iconic" to me too... The "Turbo Tank", which I grew up with as the Juggernaught (and which sounds way cooler), is not. It's something that saw brief time in ROTS, and the toy doesn't do it justice to me enough to enjoy the purchase. It might be the very bland paintjob on it, I'm not sure.
Scale made it a much easier pass though. I'd actually mocked up a rough "scale" one at one time, and almost laughed at the absurdity of how big it is. I was tracking down methods for building it though, haha. Not likely a build for any time soon.
I do just think the TT looks a little Ka Ka to me though.
Plus, it's not a "tank", technically... More like a big armored car.
-
I picked mine up yesterday and broke it out. If I were a 10 year old, there'd be little better. Very, very fun toy. As someone a little older, sure, it lacks a certain accuracy, but I'm not really it's target audience.
-
Snagged two, and finally my Clone Wars vehicle shelf is complete....for the moment:

-
Wow, very nice looking army you got there! What are the gunships on the far left?
-
Those are repainted GI Joe Snow Wolf's(?)
-
First side-by-side pic I've seen. Nice to see that it's on par with the AT-TE, even though it's off in scale.

Nice pic; impressive army! Droid army is cornered!

Thanks, but that ain't my clone army. Just my vehicles. :

I saw the Turbo Tank locally. Passed for now. I saw it at Target and am hoping to find this at TRU (I get significant savings buying through them with not only their customer rewards program but by buying gift cards from my local grocery chain that has a program to give you free gas when you buy form them, including gift cards).
I'll eventually get one of these, but I'm surprisingly not in a rush for it now. I think it's mostly due to it's gawd awful smallness.

Yeah, that's really it. If the figures were 1" tall, the turbo tank would look pretty damn good and I'd go for 2-3 of them.
But the figures look ridiculous next to it because the tank is so underscaled.
And that's not going to get me to pony up $108, or quite honestly, probably not any amount at this point.
I'll spend my money on stuff that looks good.

Would it have been cooler if Hasbro tried less to make it like a scaled down version of what it is ultimately in EU, and if they instead tried to make it more like a little scout vehicle? Kinda like a mini-rig version of the same item... Less "tank", and more "small mobile scout/recon armored car" type deal?
Part of me thinks yes, part of me thinks it would've made no difference.

I think it just bombed no matter what. It needed to be at least 2x as big as the AT-TE, but probably even more.
In a week since I've first seen it in the store, I've gone from a temporary pass, to maybe I'll pick it up for $50 on clearance, to I don't want it at all.
There's such a great lineup of figures this year, I really don't even care about the tank anymore.
We're getting a Dresselian.

As much as I like the Juggernaut in its brief movie appearance (and likely it will be on the animated series looking cool too), I'm not as excited about this as I thought it would be either. I've seen it locally a few times now (and it is still out there actually), and it just doesn't seem as nifty as the big vehicles from last year to me. Scale is part of the issue probably, although I don't expect a $250+ "to scale" Turbo Tank either. I'd still like to pick it up, because I like the design of the ship in general (and I'm sure it is a fun "toy" if nothing else) - but I'm holding off for now as well. The budget will tell I guess. Like it was mentioned, there is a lot of great stuff coming the rest of the year (the figures alone are amazing I think) - and I know I'll want to pick up the new AT-ST, Dewback, and likely Wedge's X-Wing as well - and that will eat up the budget quickly. If we see this for $50 next year (like the AT-TE recently), I'd definitely pick one up though. I might still get one at full price too, it just depends. Like I've said before, I really don't have anywhere for it to go at the moment anyways. The discounted AT-TE I grabbed a few weeks ago is still sitting in the box for the same reason.
-
I love the Turbo Tank. Even if it's not to scale, it's still a very fun item and a rarity to see items this big in the line. I have one and definitely want to add another at some point.
-
I picked this up last weekend but will not be opening it until we move soon. Overall it looks good despite being under scaled, which does not bother me on this particular vehicle. I was not excited about buying this when I did and will only be buying one. I have two AT-TE's, so one TT is enough to compliment those. I wanted to support this price point in hopes of seeing more OTC ones in the future. Plus it SW and it's a big vehicle that alone is pretty cool.
After seeing the reviews I feel better about the purchase and look forward to opening it. I even picked up the side canons to "complete" it. This is one vehicle I never thought would see the light in plastic in 1/18th scale format so I am glad it's out there. I still a nice size vehicle, if it gets too big a kid will not be able to play with it as it becomes too unwieldy. Look at the Falcon, try flying around the room with that. (I am a big guy too and I pondered how a kid would play with this in "flying" mode.
-
I've seen/read a few reports over the last few days that various Walmart stores around the US are dropping the price on the Clone Turbo Tank to $74-$76 range (your milage may vary) to undercut the current TRU sale. Worth a look if you still haven't picked one up or are looking to buy more!
-
It's $74 here. I think I will be waiting to see if it eventually goes $15... :)
-
Well $75 is probably what the price of it should be in the first place.
-
I see that HTS has even marked this down to $81.99 now. It may just be a holiday thing, but I'm wondering if sales on this thing are struggling quite a bit compared to last year's big vehicles. I personally hope not, as I'd sure like to see that BMF Slave 1 and/or AT-AT down the road sometime ;). I will say that I've seen these sit much more than the AT-TE did, and even more so than the higher priced Falcon I think - at least here locally.
-
This definitely sits more than the tank. I think the fact that's it's not highly visible in the films, or even the cartoon (one scene so far - the tank is everywhere) is hurting it, as much as the market place.

Yeah, I think you're right there Darby. Although I have seen some of these sell, it is definitely much slower so far (maybe it will pick up with Christmas shopping). On the other side of things, we stopped by TRU last night, and those $50 AT-TEs are flying out the door. I saw a guy and his son elated to find them, and also saw a couple of the Falcons in people's carts. Good to see those ships selling well, even if it is at the sale prices.
-
I know I was elated to get mine at $15! ;D
-
I have also noticed the Turbo Tank is a slower seller compared to last years biggies. The next 5 weeks will be the real test for his guy to determine the fate of the big boys. I just moved and I am setting up my collection in a dedicated room, with that said I had a pile of vehicles that I finally opened. The Turbo Tank was one of them, overall it's nice but not $100 nice. There are no lights which should be standard for for $100+ vehicles and the vehicle itself is kind of meh when compared to the more aggressive looking AT-TE which I happily bought three of. One of these is enough to compliment the AT-TE's. The launching Speeder feature is cool but would have been better served with a light when the door is opened to release it. An automatic opening door would have made the feature more exciting from a toyetic standpoint. For those of you that paid under the "normal" retail good for you, I actually wish I waited to take advantage of a sale on this.
At least I was able to get a third AT-TE for $50 and an extra Falcon for $80 so that makes me fell better in a strange way (I also sold the driver a few months ago for $12 so that was nice refund on the TT). I am hoping we see a deluxe AT-AT redo for next year. I would hate to see the Turbo Tank flop and kill this $100 SKU slot. I would gladly pay $150 for a new super deluxe AT-AT to step on the confirmed Legacy Snowspeeder. The cool thing about the large vehicles is when you see them all together you get a sense of massive scale that really delivers to the excitement of the toys/movie.
My final verdict is that it's worth getting but not at full price.
-

You must have a dud because mine has 4 working LED head-lights...
I still think the biggest thing this toy has working against it is the fact that it's a Clone Wars toy and not a movie toy. It's fully intended to be the cartoon-scaled "Clone Turbo Tank" (and the scale is actually pretty close when compared to the cartoon keys/design) and not the movie-scale Juggernaught (which is like ten times larger as others have pointed out). Because of that, you lose the movie buyers (the ones that did fully support the AT-TE).
When this was developed as the centerpiece of the Christmas line, the Turbo Tank had a bunch of air-time scheduled, but for whatever reason (due to episode schedule shifting or re-writes or something), those episodes haven't really hit yet. If they can get those Turbo Tank showcase episodes on the air in the next few weeks, I think it will go a long way to helping these move off the shelves...
-
Maybe a good sign, over the weekend a lady at my local TRU wanted a Turbo Tank for a Christmas gift, but they were sold out. I heard an employee tell her the other local TRU was sold out too. I hope that's positive news for Hasbro. The lady actually ended up buying two AT-TEs for $49.99 each, I wonder if she was going to buy two Turbo Tanks if they had them...? Probably has two sons or something that are into Star Wars.
Also, I saw a Turbo Tank in a guy's cart at Wal-Mart last night (along with an AT-ST). All of a sudden I've seen more demand for the Turbo Tank in person, but that could just be isolated local craziness that I have witnessed.
-
I stopped at a Walmart today on my lunch break and I believe they had a new price of $74 on them
-
I noticed Turbo Tanks sold out at a couple Targets locally as well. Not sure if that's recent or not though.

I've observed this November Phenomenon before. Star Wars vehicles with big price tags sit and sit and sit, then after a week or two in November, POOF!!! Gone. It's definitely a holiday shopping thing.
I saw the most recent AT-AT sit in piles for 3 months then one day in November the entire pile was gone.

I know some have complained its not movie/cartoon accurate, not big enough, etc. But I think as far as a kid's toy this thing is pretty sweet.
I brought my ($75) Turbo Tank in the house the other day and my 2 year old son spotted it. He never used to give my toy piles a second glance, but now he just hollers "out" or "open" when he sees something he likes.
Well he went ape sh*t when he saw the Turbo Tank box. 20 minutes later it was assembled, rolling, firing missiles, playing sounds, shooting a BARC speeder, etc. My son was a big twitchy, sweaty, giggling mess an hour later.
I've got to say, that is probably one of the nicest designed "toys" I've ever seen. At first I was really concerned when I let him at the $100 toy, but its really well designed and quite sturdy. Most of the doors, guns, etc. pop off when too much pressure is applied. I was quickly impressed with the design and confidently walked away while my son had at it.
As a 38 year old "collector" I can nitpick. But as a 38 year old "dad" I can say without a doubt Hasbro nailed it.
-
I'll just post this here since it was one of the things featured, but I was watching Looney Tunes with our daughter today on Cartoon Network and they had a commercial for the Hasbro CW toys. It showed Dooku, battle droids, the AATs, the Turbo Tank, the Freeco Bike and other miscellaneous things from what I could see. Just thought it was neat to see a non-role play Star Wars toy commercial, it has been awhile I think.

Man, thanks so much for posting that! I can't tell you how many times I have been watching the show on Cartoon Network and wondered why they don't run commercials for the toys during it. It seems like such a no-brainer! Great marketing ploy, especially at this time of year.

I agree with that. My son is 2-1/2, and every time I let him in my Star Wars room, he gravitates to one thing - my Turbo Tank. He seems amazed by it. I might have to get him one for Christmas for him to be able to enjoy... or his birthday in the summer.
Though my wife would probably get onto me for that. ;D

Saw the Turbo Tank at the local Costco today for $79.99 next to the GH MFs.
-
Our local WM had two of these on clearance for around $50. I have to admit I was really tempted to grab one (I still am, to some extent), but passed. I don't really have the extra money right now for one thing, and I'm really doing my best to cut back on things a bit because of budget and space. Again though, for $50, it is tempting. They still seem to be full price everywhere else I've seen though.
-
So somewhere I saw someone say half off Turbo Tanks (*shudder*) were roaming at K-Mart... So I figured, what the hell, I'll go see if I can find one since K-Mart is still a big player in my area and I have nothing else going on.
Well mine had one... Clearance $84 then an additional 50% off that, so $42 Turbo Tank... I mulled it over briefly and figured I'd pick it up and customize it into essentially a Clone equivalent of a Scout Car (It's no M8 Greyhound, but it's got the Star Wars equivalency of that I figure since it's so small, plus it's like a forward observation/command vehicle I figure).
Anyway, so I got this home...
I gotta admit, I stand by my issues with it in terms of scale, and dumb **** like the Speederbike out its ass (What's with Hasbro wanting vehicles to shoot stuff out their ass?), but other than that I think the Turbo Tank's a great toy... The sounds, the headlights (Where's that on the AT-TE? I want headlights on my TE's!), the interior detailing...
I will still be customizing it like I planned, but there's not a lot to do, to make it more belieavable as a small scout/command tank that maybe is rolling along behind the AT-TE's and other armor. It doesn't have many weapons externally, actually, and if I can just find a way to connect the cockpit to the mid-section of the body in a realistic way (and connect the "crow's nest" to the cockpit somehow), then I'm pretty sure I can appreciate it even more.
As toys go though, it's really great... Perhaps better than the TE in ways too, as it rolls and that makes for a more fun toy to kids I think.
Anyway, color me more impressed than I thought I was going to be... It's really nice. I still wouldn't have dropped $100 on it, but I could see doing it for a kid and why they'd want it. Very cool!
One complaint... I can't get some of the doors to snap shut tight, and they want to flop open. That's annoying.
-
Yeah, this is something that I really wasn't able to afford at the time it was out and I've sort of been hoping to see some of those "$50 blowout" sales we saw a few times with the AT-TE. I did see one on clearance at Wal-Mart once after Christmas (for $50), but just didn't have the money at the time to spend on something like that. If we see some discounted ones later this year, I might bite - particularly after reading the positive notes from Jesse and others. Like you mentioned, I looked at it much like a "fun toy" more than anything else.
-
Found an almost complete Turbo Tank today at Goodwill for a whopping $2.99! I could not pass that up. It was missing the top gun and the figure. Still had the "hidden" missiles and the BARC. Almost skipped up the checkstand...

That is just insane. Nice find!

That is indeed awesome JDH... :)
I don't think ANYONE got one that cheap, haha.
I've got mine in pieces here still debating how I want to go about my original plan for it almost 2 years ago now. ::)
