Some highlights (follow the link for the whole thing):

--The Early Birds that disappeared are being shifted around to different stores that didn't have the tent sales.

--Absolutely more plans for Fan's Choice polls "pretty soon".

--Jedi Master points: "we tried something with that with the auctions. Not as many people were able to take advantage of it as we had hoped. So I don't see us doing Jedi Master points again in the future." ::) >:(

--"Nervous" about solid cases of anything, even clones.

--More clone repaints in 2006 but not 2005.

--Any possibility for Expanded Universe figures like the Republic Commando and someone like Quinlon Vos, who was actually mentioned by name in the movie? "We may get some troopers not necessarily from the films, but other than that, no future plans in the short term anyway for Expanded Universe."  >:( [insert expletive of choice]

--No more Battle Packs after this year.

--They were originally planning to do BOTH 2" and 7" Unleashed.

Saga Collection '06 / Battle of Coruscant Wave
« on: July 18, 2005, 01:29 PM »
Battle of Coruscant from Episode III will include 6 figures, each with bonus mini hologram figure.

My suggestions:

The six

-new Bail Organa with the robe and fur stole from the Senate landing area
-Neimoidian pilot (new)
-Senator Giddean Danu (new) -- IMHO one of the coolest outfits in the whole saga
-Padmé with "TIE fighter hair" (new)
-new Captain Typho
-POTJ Security Battle Droid rereleased in red security, blue pilot, gold commander, and plain -- same sculpt but with maybe slightly thicker legs for better stability

Runners-up:

Clone Trooper (ROTS #41 with gray shoulder pads)
Coruscant Fireman (new)
Janu Godalhi -- Coruscant dignitary, Galaxies Opera House (new)
R2-D2 w/ "hovering" base and flaming Super Battle Droid (kitbash of some sort)
other "welcoming party" senators, such as Tundra Dowmeia or Malé-Dee.

Deluxe, vehicles, etc.

-Deluxe Clone Trooper Star Destroyer Gunner (with turret)
-Deluxe Battle Droid Gunner (with turret)

"The Recycling of the Force" -- article by Ron Salvatore
http://www.toysrgus.com/images-speci/recycle/

This information is likely old hat to most of you Vinty collectors, but I got a kick out of it. Particularly the section on the Ewoks/Prince of Thieves toys--I'd previously read about those reuses, but it was neat to read more details and see comparison photos. :)

Discuss.

Saga Collection '06 / Battle of Geonosis Wave
« on: July 17, 2005, 08:10 PM »
Battle of Geonosis from Episode II will include 7 figures

This would be my ideal list:

New:

-SA Mace Windu
-SA Jango Fett with swappable jetpacks and removable helmets or switchable balljoint heads
-an arena Jedi that hasn't been done before (Roth-Del Masona, Sar Labooda, Joclad Danva, Sarrissa Jeng, etc.)

Repacks:

-SA Clone Trooper (2003 Clone Wars) -- absolutely a DUH! choice
-Clone Pilot (Saga 2002 or new)
-Coleman Trebor (Saga 2002) or Pablo-Jill (post-OTC 2004)
-Destroyer Droid (some version lacking the arm cannons)

Realistically there will have to be some core characters, such as a Yoda (Saga 2002 most likely). We will surely see one of the Saga Obi-Wans. An SA Padme would be neat, but frankly not in my top 7.

Poggle the Lesser (Saga Geonosis War Room, 2003) is a very close runner-up, but he could also resurface in a Mustafar War Room set.

I'd also like a rerelease of the Saga Wat Tambor, this time with a more accurate paint deco.

How about even a Republic Commando--hey, according to EU they were active offscreen ;).

Assuming there are Deluxe/Ultra and vehicles in this wave:

-repacked Clonetrooper and speeder bike (02 Saga or 03 Clone Wars)
-repacked Spider droid (Saga or Clone Wars)
-repacked Saga Flying Geonosian with Sonic Blaster and Attack Pod
-repacked Geonosian Starfighter (03 Clone Wars)
-repacked Hailfire droid (03 Clone Wars)
-or even the Holy Grail itself: AT-TE

Saga Collection '06 / Battle of Endor Wave
« on: July 17, 2005, 07:45 PM »
Battle of Endor from Episode VI will include 8 figures, each with a bonus holographic mini figure

Here's what I would like to see:

--SA Scout Trooper
--Endor Rebel Soldier (Saga 2002 or SA)
--Imperial Officer (POTJ 2001/Saga 2002)
--some Ewok 2-packs:
--------repacked Wicket from POTF2/OTC and POTJ Teebo--he roolz all.
--------new Chief Chirpa and repacked Logray (medicine man).
--------mother Ewok and Wokling
--------two other Ewoks (new or kitbashed/repaints)

Realistically, of course, there will have to be room for SA Hans, Lukes, and Leias but in my imaginary world those slots would have Ewoks.

DoctorPadawan's idea of an AT-ST Driver (AT-ST Han with new head and arm) would be cool too.

In addition, assuming there are vehicles and Deluxe/Ultra figures with each wave:

--repack of the Saga Ultra Ewok on glider
--repacked AT-ST
--a new 4-pack Ewoks troop builder in the Deluxe line

Other Collectibles / Unleashed Battle Packs
« on: July 15, 2005, 09:18 PM »
The rumours of the Unleashed line coming to end are true. The new line is now called the Unleashed Battle Packs, which will carry on the "spirit" of the original Unleashed line. This means these 2 inch figures will have minimal articulation, but be released in 4-packs with a retail price of $9.99. The first wave will include The Battle of Kashyyyk (Yoda, Aayla Secura and 2 Wookiees) and Clone Commanders and will hit retailers in December. The second wave will include Clone Troopers and Wookiee Warriors.

As boneheaded as I think it was to cancel the 7" Unleashed, I have to admit these do look pretty nifty. Not unlike the LOTR Armies of Middle-earth toys I guess. And assembling big ol' hordes will be much more feasible with these than with 3 3/4". I'll dabble in the line, but I expect my main focus to stay on the 3 3/4".

But putting these out in a market with Attacktix, WOTC minis, Bust-ups, and Galactic Heroes seems like a bad idea. Trying to compete with WOTC I can see, but don't they know Attacktix is their OWN product? ::)

On the other hand, the nice thing about these compared with the minis is they're a little bigger and appear much sturdier, plus they won't be randomized.

BTW, I'm guessing Aayla does not actually belong in the first Kashyyyk set (with Yoda and 2 Wookiees) and it's really Luminara Unduli or maybe even Quinlan Vos.

Revenge of the Sith / Target Exclusive Utapau Shadow Trooper
« on: July 15, 2005, 08:09 PM »

Booooo!

This is slightly more appealing than that ridiculous Target-logo clone--he does look cool in a cheesy, totally impractical way--but it still sounds like a bad idea. And I'm sure it will be $13+. ::)

I got the idea from CorranHorn's analogous thread in the Vintage forum. Obviously this is a question for us younger collectors.

I think I still have all the toys I had as a kid. Somewhat arbitrarily I'm going to declare "pre-2000" as my "childhood" period. I've been accumulating (it wasn't really "collecting" at first) SW toys pretty much continuously since 1995 or 6, so it's hard to pin down an exact cutoff point--not like the people who stopped and then resumed many years later.

I was 13 when TPM came out, somewhere around when I stopped seriously playing with the SW toys. To be sure, I still open them and mess with the action features and have supercool lightsaber battles between Mace Windu and Darth Vader, but it just ain't the same anymore.  :-\

Plus I picked up some neat loot in the mythic Great Toys R Us Purge of 2000. I will count those as well since mentally they're pretty tough to extricate from the others.

Anyway, here we go:

Orange card series

Boba Fett (my first SW action figure actually)
C-3PO (was later painted silver to replicate the Cloud City "Go shove it" droid. ;))
Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight)
Luke Skywalker (X-Wing Fighter Pilot Gear)
R2-D2
R5-D4

Deluxe Crowd Control Stormtrooper
Deluxe Han Solo
Deluxe Luke with Tatooine skiff thingie

Luke's Landspeeder
Death Star Escape Playset - 1996

Shadows of the Empire

Dash Rendar (still one of my fave figures)
Leia (Boussh Disguise)

Green card series, FF, Flashbacks, etc.

ASP-7 Droid
Ben (Obi-Wan) Kenobi
Emperor's Royal Guard
EV-9D9
Hoth Rebel Soldier (beard)
Malakili (Rancor Keeper)
Saelt-Marae (Yak Face)
Weequay

Flashback Ben (Obi-Wan) Kenobi (Hood Up)
Flashback Darth Vader (Double Cape)

TRU Millennium Minted Coin Emperor Palpatine
Jabba the Hutt w/Han Solo
Ronto w/Jawa
Expanded Universe Concept speeder bike
Endor Luke with speeder bike (could have been orange card or post-2000, not really sure)

Saga '02-'04 / Tusken Raider army building
« on: July 15, 2005, 01:43 AM »
I'm not sure if this is the best forum for this, but since the Tuskens had their biggest role in AOTC it seemed to fit here.

I've been accumulating Tuskens for several years, first to recreate the hordes in the 1999 Outlander comic and then for the AOTC sequences.

So far I have:

2x POTF2 Tusken
1x POTF2 Tusken figure from the Deluxe Bantha (sans bantha unfortunately)
1x POTJ Tusken Sniper
4x Saga Female with Child
2x Saga Tusken with Massiff on chain leash
1x Saga Camp Ambush (though I'd buy more if I could find them)
3x OTC Tusken Raider

Also:

1x Galactic Heroes Tusken, who could sort of fit with the 3 3/4" as a dwarf or a child or something if you squint.

I also have one Action Fleet Tusken (from the Bantha Battle Pack) and maybe one Micro Machines Tusken from some other set. But I haven't brought out my MM/AF stuff in ages, so I'm not entirely sure anymore.

Basically I've got at least one each of all the readily available ones in the modern 3 3/4" line. I still don't have the bantha, but nowadays it's too expensive anyway (like $60-70). The only reason I have the rider is that I found it loose at CIII.

I'm hoping they come out with more Tusken figures in the future. Possibilities:

--SA version in hypothetical VOTC 2006 (count me in for a half-dozen or so!)
--a Troops Builder set of 3 or 4 Tuskens with different weapons and robe colors.
--EU figures of Sharad Hett and A'Sharad Hett (from the comics).
--Hell, how about a Battle Pack with a hut, campfire, a couple of raiders, and Anakin?

If they repack any of the Tuskens again it should be the 2003 Saga Camp Ambush, because the POTJ has already been rehashed twice. They could change the robe coloring to another shade, or give him a slightly different weapon, just for variety. Much like the variant colors, armor/clothes, and weapons with the ROTS Wookiees.

Saga '02-'04 / Jango Fetts question
« on: July 14, 2005, 03:43 PM »
This probably is a weird thing to ask....

I've got a question for somebody who has loose Jango Fett Kamino Escape, Final Battle, and POTJ Sneak Preview.

Q1) Are the jetpacks on Kamino Escape and Final Battle interchangeable? Like do the pegs fit the holes and vice versa?

I like the Kamino Escape figure better, but I want to have the backpack from Final Battle to replicate the Geonosis arena battle.

Q2) Is the jetpack on the Sneak Preview version removable and if so, is it interchangeable with Final Battle?

Thanks!

Watto's Junk Yard / Insider #75 scans, pleez
« on: July 9, 2005, 11:49 PM »

If anyone has a scanner and the Insider #75, could you scan the "Outlander Club" article and email the pics to me? My address is in my profile.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

How come there are two separate EU forums? Essentially the same things are being discussed in both, so it seems to add an unnecessary level of complication.

The description on the Expanded Universe forum is
"Discuss everything relating to Star Wars EU"

And Jocasta's Reading Room is
"Give your opinion on Star Wars books and comics"

which is merely a subset of the other one.

If it was up to me I'd merge the two and keep the Jocasta's Reading Room title. There's only 68 threads between the two of them.

<7/4 edit: Corrected the number of threads, due to erroneous adding previously.>

Multiple copies of a single figure don't count. So army builders are out, as well as packaging-variant duplicates of the same figure.

I don't have an organized list or database of my figures, but as a guesstimate I'll say I have the most Obi-Wan Kenobis (not that farfetched since he's in all six movies).

So far I can think of 10:

POTF2 Ben
late POTF2 Flashback Ben
Episode I Obi-Wan Jedi Duel (sans cloak)
Episode I Obi-Wan Naboo (with cloak)
Episode I Deluxe Obi-Wan with the saber stick thingie
POTJ/OTC Ben
POTJ Obi-Wan Jedi Training Gear
Saga Force Flipper Obi-Wan (spare me your pity :P)
Saga Deluxe Kamino Duel Obi-Wan
Clone Wars General Obi-Wan

Watto's Junk Yard / Favorite cuss word?
« on: June 30, 2005, 08:40 PM »
Mine would have to be **** since it's so versatile. It can be used as a noun, verb, adjective, adverb, infix, preposition, or conjunction. :P

**** is a close runner-up though.

(Somebody shoot me down if this crosses a line.)
