Collections / My Chewbacca Collection
« on: December 4, 2008, 05:29 AM »
I recently was able to display most of my collection in cases at the school where I teach. This is just a small taste and my personal favorite collection within a collection. I never have counted them. I am (alas) without any carded vintage, but have most manufactured Chewbacca action figures on card from POTF2 Orange/Red cards to the present. I have miscellaneous rare and odd collectibles too. Bootlegs, Pez, plush, Lego...

I will attempt to add my other collection pictures soon. Have been on hiatus from JD for almost 2 years. Good to be back and I am sure it will give the staff cause for a few words of disbelief to see my ugly mug back in the forums. A big hey to all you JD gods! You have kept the force stronger hear than I ever could have imagined. I am blown away and missed you all! Hope to be around from time to time and not such a phantom menace...

The variation is legit, but I do not have photographic evidence. It was an auction item on eBay several years ago. Because eBay purges old auctions, I cannot provide you with any further evidence at this time. I will look through my documentation and image files and see if I have anything further to help you.

« on: March 1, 2006, 12:45 AM »
Just finished a great trade and trading experience with new guy on the block, Weequay. Rich hooked me up, was easy to work with communicated very well and sent the items quickly and packed them with TLC. I recommend him as a trustworthy trader and someone that is worth trading with. Hope to do it again soon Rich! Thanks!

Jesse hooked me up with some very nice stuff to help me fill out some vital need areas of my list. He was very fair, honest, communicated very well, and sent the package of goodies in a timely manner. Everything arrived in the promised condition. Jesse is a stand-up guy and I highly recommend trading and dealing with him. Thanks JJ!!!

Watto's Junk Yard / "A Million Little Pieces" The Book
« on: November 15, 2005, 04:47 PM »
A Million Little Pieces is a book authored by James Frey. It is about 6 weeks he spent in alcohol/drug rehab and how he overcame his addictions without a 12 Step program. I believe he has 14 years of sobriety now.

The book is unbelievable!!! I is so graphic, brutally honest and inspiring. I did not want to put it down and I did not want to finish reading it or for it to end. He has a follow-up book called "My Friend Leonard" that is equally compelling and weel-written. I recommend both to any and everyone! For those that can't relate to addictions, it is an honest and real look into the mind of addiction. James life is really incredible and he was at the right place at the right time. I am coming up on 11 years of sobriety and this book has reminded me of the importance of the now and being sober. It made me feel less alone and understood.

He was on Oprah and my wife demanded I watch it. I was blown away and cannot say enough about James Frey and his amazing books and life.

I do not care who you are. If you enjoy reading and need a good book, go buy A Million Little Pieces right now!!!

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Hard Rock - Bands You Recommend
« on: October 28, 2005, 12:01 AM »
Okay. Got it now.

I personally am not a big Linkin Park fan...

These are the more obscure bands I like - some of them are no longer making music unfortunately... Most are on the heavy side.

Atrophy - any (if you can find them)
Carcass - Heartwork, Swan Song - and the ultra-heavy Discanting the Insilubrious
Coronor - Grin
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
Death - RIP Chuck Schuldiner - any
Defiance - Any - Beyond Recognition especially
Entombed - any
Exodus - Another Lesson in Violence - live
Faith No More - Album of the Year
Flotsam & Jetsam - Any
Forbidden - Any
Forced Entry - Any
Intruder - Psycho Savant
Kreator
Lamb of God!!! (Burn the Priest)
Machine Head - The More Things Change... and their latest one
Obituary - any and all!!!
Overkill - The Years of Decay
Possessed - Any - former band of Primus guitarist Larry Lelonde
Primus
Sepultura - Any with Max - ROOTS!!!
Slayer...
Soundgarden (obviously Superunknown)
Suicidal Tendencies
Testament - Any
Vio-Lence - Any
Xentrix - Any

I'm sure I left some out, but they were more obvious choices. Hope you can enjoy something here...

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Hard Rock - Bands You Recommend

JesseVader08,

What is "Hard Rock"? Is it diet metal or metal or progressive rock.

I am an old school, thrash/death metal listener and can't really decipher what you mean. Why don't you list some bands you consider hard rock and I'll go from there.

I would say that these 2 bands are clutch, straight-forward bands that definitely rock. The first is pretty obvious, the second a bit more obscure...

QOTSA - Queens of the Stone Age- any and all. Epic stuff.

Fu Man Chu - any and all. They just plain rock.

I also like the later cds by Faith No More. Also epic.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Happy Birthday Valin Kenobi!!!

Thanks to all that sent their wishes! The mystery Colorado collector, the mystery original creator and typist for our beloved checklists that were so beautifully posted and edited by the genius of JesseVader08 and the phantom staff member for life will always appreciate the brilliance of what JD.com has become and continues to grow and aspire to be. Without my well-wishers, we would be nothing and they are all to blame for that.

Matt, despite you callous ways, you speak to me the way I need to be spoken to and deserve so much of my gratitude for understanding my plight and absence yet still giving me props. You are way to cool a spirit to occupy that hideous physical shell. But it shines through enough that you can at least make public appearances and represent.

DSJ words are useless to describe my respect and admiration. I send you my thanks through means only known to Canadians and recovering drug addicts.

Brad, I forgive you and hope you are still drawing until your fingers bleed.

I have been in the trenches of our public education system trying to figure out why I still put up with the politics. I guess I just was meant to suffer in one form or another and I love what I do as long as they leave my art program and room alone.

I caught a rather wicked bug from some snot nosed grub of a first grader who couldn't keep the supplies I provide for them out of their bateria laced nostrils and mouths. My hands bleed I was them so much, but alas, it is all in futility. So I spent the better half of my 36th bed-ridden and the worse half at a health food market sifting through soy products and pachoulie to find items my wife can't live without.

The booty was $$$ which will be wisely invested in the ROTS dvd and whatever variations I can happen upon. Also some decent silver age comics and the definitive and giant collection of Calvin and Hobbes. I also was given front row tickets to Disney on Ice by my 4 year-old daughter! Front row! So stupid that I can come into front row for all my daughters shows but sleeping out for 3 days in Colorado winter weather 15 or so years ago for Rush tickets only garnered me 15th row.

I am thankful to be alive and well and living as I do and very fortunate. Thanks for the wishes and I hope you have been able to bear my belated response and update. Hope to make an appearance in the staff forums soon...
