Watto's Junk Yard / Re: A thread about concerts.
« on: November 8, 2006, 02:24 PM »
I saw the Pet Shop Boys on Nov 5th (my wife got us tickets for my birthday) in Seattle.  I even managed to get Chris and Neil's autographs after the show as well.

 :o

I saw them on the 28th of October.  Didn't know anyone else out there actually still cared about them...  :P

While I didn't much care for S-H-O-P-P-I-N-G, I thought the rest of the "evening of (mostly) electronical entertainment" was top-notch.  I especially loved the partially acuoustic "Home and Dry", the encore "Go West", and the ginormous hats of "Always on my Mind".

I'm definitely going to buy the 10-packs when I see them.

The duplicate figures aren't much of an issue for me I guess because I have those "duplicate" boys who will end up with them when they are old enough.  Now, the boys can each have their own Han/Luke/Vader/whoever thanks to the duplicates in the packs and they can fight over share the others.   ;)

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Vote!
« on: November 8, 2006, 02:03 PM »
Then why does this thread even exist?  This isn't RS.  ::)

I'm guessing it exists to remind people to vote?

Yes, it still exists (and was only re-opened) as a reminder to get out and vote.

Once upon a time, politics were allowed at JD, but those days are long gone because as Brent said, the only thing politics threads do is polarize the JD community and pretty much get everyone all worked up, which inevitably spills out into other areas of the forums.

Since the election is over and polls are closed, I'm going to go ahead and re-lock (before it strays too far into the no-no topics).

See you in 2008!   ;)

That loose pic (Vader with the wrong Saber  ::)) gives me even more hope that it's just a mock-up.

I'm still holding out hope that they just grabbed whatever they could for these catalog images and that explains the dirty Sormies and the wrong Vader saber.  If not, then this is by far the crappiest piece of crap they've ever churned out.

I though the stock Hasbro answer was "because the rest of the stuff in the case with him was super-cheap to make".

Think back to the stuff that was packed in that case with him...

2x Ephant Mon
2x Watto - smaller than average figure
1x Teemto Pagalies - smaller than average figure
2x Tusken Raider with Massiff - simple repacks
1x Ki-Adi-Mundi - Jedi Master - kit-bash
1x Endor Rebel Soldier #2 - variant figure
2x Lott Dodd - Neimoidian Senator
1x Massiff with Geonosian Warrior

I would supect that the only way they could get away with doing him again would be a similar move - pack him with a pile of other repacks/repaints to offset the costs.  I just don't see it happening carded again though as the bubble would appear to be WAY too big for that 2007 card design.

I still think the best likely hood for Ephant would be a Jabba's Palace type Battle Pack or something more suited to his large size.

clicky me for a big ol' image of these Imps

Three things still come to mind:
- I would have liked dark pants on Wulff
- I would have liked hats (where needed)
- I really would have liked knees

I'll still buy it though because they are not that bad...

Kubricks / Re: Kubrick Addicts Anonymous
« on: November 6, 2006, 05:24 PM »
Someone from my Kubrick Series 7 mega-order just backed out on me.   ::)

Anyway, that means that I will have two one sealed "box of 12" from Series 7 to offer up for sale if anyone is interested.  These will be pulled randomly from a Master Case, meaning that there will be a chance for chases in each of the boxes.

Just drop me a PM for pricing and details.   ;)

*edit - one sold, just one left!  ;)

Plans are in the works for another round this year.  There will be some rule changes in light of some of the things that happened last year.  Look for more details later this month....

9339
So then basically, this is the round that counts, and everything else that follows is just a matter of academics (i.e. the overall "winning" figure will get a special "#1 Fan's Choice!" sticker or something on it's bubble).

Not exactly.. it's still something in-between.  Hasbro has left themselves plenty of "fudge-factor" room...

From Derryl Depriest, via StarWars.com:

Quote
The actual eight fan-choice figures we'll select will be based on a combination of the results from Phase I, which was quantitative, and Phase II (the Bracket) which asks fans to make tough choices amongst a lot of great figures.

So, according to that statement, basically they can pretty much pick whatever the hell they want from the top 64 choices.

So, we're going to get:
- 16 "kid-firendly" figures selected by Hasbro
- 8 "fan choice" figures selected by Hasbro, with input from the fans.

Well, they didn't charge me any tax on my order for these...  now that they are separated from TRU, taxes at Amazon are set by where you live and who is shipping you the stuff.

From Amazon.com

Items sold by Amazon.com LLC, or its subsidiaries, and shipped to destinations in the states of Kansas, Kentucky, North Dakota, or Washington are subject to tax.

For anyone looking for a pretty good deal, try Amazon.com:

Episode 4 (ANH) Tin- $27.99 with free "super saver" shipping

Episode 5 (ESB) Tin- $27.99 with free "super saver" shipping

Doesn't look like they have any of the others in-stock, but $56 for the two tins (free shipping, no tax) is a pretty good deal.   :)

Saga Collection '06 / Re: "Jedi vs. Darth Sidous" Battle Pack
« on: November 3, 2006, 11:59 AM »
Yeah, and we get the same exact figure in the Mace Windu batallion pack. I can't wait for the SA version.

Actually, the Mace Windu in the MW Attack Battalion battle pack is the ROTS one again (you can tell by the elbow articulation and the action feature).

Hey Hasbro! / Re: Questions for Hasbro?
« on: November 3, 2006, 11:39 AM »
How long is the expected wait to receive a George Lucas in Stormtrooper Disguise? It has been two months since my check was cashed. Is there an e-mail address or phone number we can contact to check the status?

Hasbro's standard reply (when they do reply), is that :

Quote
Your Exclusive George Lucas (in Stormtrooper Disguise) Figure will be mailed to you between June 30, 2006 and December 31, 2006.

Unforunately, they are running a bit slowly with the orders lately... some folks have waited 3-4 months.  There isn't anything you can really do at this point to make them go any faster.   :-\
