Watto's Junk Yard / WTF?!
« on: January 31, 2004, 03:05 AM »
This is totally bizarre, and not to start a huge scalper debate, but check out what the hell has popped up over at Amazon.com today:  WTF?!   :o

Wow.  Looks like someone's moving up in the world.  Pretty crazy to see that little partnership pop up there!  I'm sure Amazon will enjoy some of the complaints they're going to be getting about this!   ;)  A few of those prices are decent, while a couple others aren't.  I'm surprised about the cheap price on that Acklay to be honest.  Should be interesting to see what else pops up there, and what the prices will be.  I'm sure part of the reason TRU's doing this is to be able expand into the vintage market, but it's still pretty weird!

So what do you think of this move on Amazon.com's part?

Saga '02-'04 / Star Tours wave 4?
« on: January 31, 2004, 02:59 AM »
You know where to find me if/when Wave 4 comes out...

Just read over at GH tonight that this may indeed be happening now.  Looks like they dug up a couple early prototype pictures, one of which definitely looks like it's one of the Star Tours droids, but both of which look totally stupid to be honest.  I wonder if they'll have a third droid in this wave like the other three.  If they do, hopefully it'll have another neutral type of astromech like the R3, R4 and R5's in each of the other waves.  Not at all excited about these two, so I'll probably be passing on them.

The Original Trilogy / Re: Classic Trilogy DVD Release!
« on: January 29, 2004, 08:32 PM »
Looks like it's unfortunately going to be the Special Editions...

Disappointing indeed.  Looks like Uncle George is sticking to his guns, and never offering the original versions again.  That's such a shame, and just downright wrong.  He owes his fans and the film community more than that.  I don't understand why he can't get that through his thick head!   >:(

There sure better not be any people complaining about the Malaysian bootlegs floating around, since they're going to forever be the only original versions available!   ::)

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Jabba's Palace Wave
« on: January 29, 2004, 08:25 PM »
Yikes!  No sooner do I finally get caught up again, than another new wave puts me right back in my state of incompleteness once more!   :P  Hard to keep up lately, not that I'm complaining mind you.   ;)

This is going to be a fun wave to pick up, but it makes me want an official Jabba's Palace playset even more now.   >:(  I really wish Hasbro would look into the possibility of playsets again.  There's really not that many "important" ones to do - just Jabba's, the Cantina, and the Death Star (1 & 2).  How hard would that be?  Guess I'll just have to buy one of those $1,000 jobs off of eBay someday to get my playset fix.  Shame on you Hasbro!   ::)

Saga '02-'04 / Re: 25th Anniversary Clonetrooper
« on: January 29, 2004, 08:20 PM »
This is good news.  Really glad I held out on this one.  I'll probably just pick up one of these, but is there anyone out there who plans on doing some bizarre Silver Clone army building with them?

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: Original Trilogy Collection
« on: January 29, 2004, 08:18 PM »
Well, it seems like this year is already focused almost entirely on the OT, so this news isn't really that much of a surprise to be honest.  To me it just sounds like we're getting a different packaging design is all, which is perfectly cool with me.  Some redone OT ships would certainly be welcomed, but like most, I'd prefer some new sculpts for my money.

I just hope they stick with the OT focus right up to the release of Episode 3.   8)

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Who hates flying?
« on: January 29, 2004, 08:11 PM »
I've only flown a handful of times, but it doesn't bother me at all.  I did notice myself quickly "scanning" the passengers on my last flight though, so I guess that other elements of flying have me slightly nervous though.   :-[

I sure as hell wouldn't be caught dead skydiving though.  You guys are crazy!   :o

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Surgery... Who's been under the knife?
« on: January 29, 2004, 08:09 PM »
Nothing for me yet either, but my dad recently had his appendix removed, and one of our close friends just had a C-section for their baby's delivery.  Probably not fun getting a lifelong scar stuck on your body for stuff like that, but it's better than the alternatives, that's for sure!

JD Sports Forum! / Super Bowl parties?
« on: January 27, 2004, 03:40 AM »
So, what's everyone doing for the Super Bowl on Sunday?  My girlfriend's talking about trying to put together a little shindig at our place, but I'm not sure if she'll really have the time.  If not, I'll probably just hit the local sports bar with some buddies.

Really hoping for a Carolina Panthers win, since they're the underdogs and have never won it before.  Plus, I still think the Patriots got unfairly lucky in that Raider game a couple years ago, that led to their last championship.

Should be a great game!  I anticipate a whole lot of junk food, beer, and extra pounds coming my way this weekend.   :P

Saga '02-'04 / Re: 2003 figs on 2004 cards
« on: January 27, 2004, 03:11 AM »
Only seen the brown coat Han once myself, and never a recarded blue one, though I've heard they're definitely legit.  Just glad I'm not a carded completist, or crap like this stuff, and the HOF assortment, would really bug the hell out of me!   >:(  Granted, the Fett was pretty hard to find for a lot of people, so I guess that reissue makes sense.  Just not the rest of them.

I wonder how many more recarded figs are on the way, aside from those we've already seen, plus the HOF wave?

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: Wave 2 - Animated Clone Wars Figures
« on: January 27, 2004, 03:04 AM »
Great to hear that these are out now.  I didn't think I'd be collecting this line, but after seeing the first wave at Target last month, I just couldn't resist their cartoony cuteness!  So, still no word on any wave 3 beyond this one though, right?  Maybe there's still a good chance of it, since the cartoon's going to be back on the tube pretty soon, and getting some more publicity.  Of course, since no rumors, news, or pix have surfaced yet, it may be doubtful.  But hopefully they'll surprise us with some more, since 8 figures for this line just aren't enough!
