Most of my better pals know about me doing graphics for the site, since we all met in Advertising Design, this sort of relates, I guess - but I don't really talk about any of the SW stuff unless asked about it first.  :-\

The only respect I get is from the 13 and younger crowd. Basically I'm the cool SW Mom who knows all about the figures, gives cool presents and throws awsome SW birthday parties.

The adults in my life think I'm just a little insane ??? ;D

Well, judging from my response in the Are you a "closet" Star Wars fan or collector? thread, you can probably guess that I don't discuss this or any other Star Wars boards, or my involvement thereon.  My wife totally knows of course, as do my parents since they've "caught me" in the forums a few times when I was visiting their place and asked what I was doing...

My wife might as well be a forum member at JD herself though.  We talk about all the goings on here all the time, both regarding the site itself, and all of the staff and members herein.  She knows a lot of the members here by both their forum name as well as their "real world" name, along with just a lot of other personal info on them.  She'll often ask, "So, how's Scott, Brent, Jim, Dale, Chris, etc. doing...?"  "Did you tell them about ___ yet?"  "Did Jim or Scott see this episode of Trading Spaces yet?"  "Are you going to mention that in the forums?"  Yadda, yadda, yadda...  Basically, she's totally in tune and completely supportive with everything about the site, which is pretty cool.

But other than that, I'm still hiding in my little closet...   :-*   :P

So therefore, I'll have to agree with Spuff's post!   ;D

JediMac, that's great that your wife is so supportive and involves herself in the forums to some degree. I'm lucky in the sense that my boyfriend is a regular forumer (although I've yet to get him to register himself over here, I'll get on him ;). He does use the chat once in awhile, though).  In fact, that's how we met. We both know all the goings on in forum-land, and can talk about them together.  The forums are definitely a world within a world within a world, and what bonds we form here are not easily shared with the people in our daily lives, especially those who don't frequent forums of any sort, or who don't collect toys.

I was thinking of you Carrie a little when i thought of this topic cause I knew you guys were both forumites, there is very little parnet/child or husband/wife or boyfriend/girlfriend kind of forumites around.  Purple4lee and rogue9horn come to mind as well as Princess Leia and Prince Kheldar at RS

I do update Wifey on Matt's house search whenever we are watching house hunters on HGTV :-*  BTW, how is the search going?   :-*

I did, but changed it, MATT, just because it dawned on me the number of Matts we have here at JD now. I just wanted to avoid any confusion. Can I just call you the Bulkmeister?

My girlfriend is registered with me on the Seattle boards and really enjoys them.  I think she has more posts than I do actually. If not, it's close.

I was thinking of directing her to other forums (like Rebelscum) back in the day, but I really don't think they know how to treat the ladies. It's like they're so shocked to see a female in their isolated little online world, that they immediately elevate her to "goddess" status and drool all over her every day she appears.

Certain obssesive love threads and other lameness over the one or two girls around there comes to mind. I hardly wanted to be the one that recommend that sort of lame enviornment to my girlfriend. It would be like throwing her to a pack of really lame wolves just so I could have some more company.   ;D

However, this place seems a lot more laid back and friendly. Maybe I'll suggest she head over this way one of these days.

No, you may not.  Matt works just fine!  Besides, there's no confusion, as the other fellas are named Matt #2, Matt #3, Matt #4, Matt #5, etc...  See how that works?  Being the original Matt here, means that you can just call me Matt!   :-*

And no more of this BB stuff from Brent and Scott either!  I keep thinking you're referring to David - the other double B (Boba Binks)!

Boy, is my wife gonna hear about this forum nonsense when I get home tonight!   ;D

We may be wolves, but I don't think that we're really lame ones at least...  Tell her to stop on by!  We'll play nice.   ;)

Oh...  You so didn't just really do that, did you Scott?!   :-X  Yousa gonna be in bombad trouble Mr. Smarty Pants!   :-*

You know what's mildly funny about that, is that last weekend when I was doing laundry, I threw that sweater in the dryer on high, in an attempt to make that gargantuan thing shrink down just a bit!   :D

No, of course not.  ::)

I think she definitely got the worst of it (at least that I can remember), and it was probably largely due to being one of the only ones to post a picture. That's really too bad. I know there were a couple of other people subjected to it as well. I remember posting in those threads telling people to get a life and such before they were closed down. I mean....seriously. It was like a pack of geeky construction workers that had never talked to a girl before or something. Made me embarassed to be associated with the group...and I definitely didn't want to subject a loved one to the same sort of treatment.
