Episode 1 / Re: Wave 2 accessory sets
« on: July 21, 2005, 08:43 PM »
I found all of the second wave at closeout at either TRU or KB for 50 cents after Ep. I had gone to DVD. Bought one of each of the first wave which was harder to track down. The ones with the extra Jedi Cloaks I am glad I bought several of because they have helped in customizing existing Jedi, or in making new Jedi up. Kinda of like the Droid Factory Accessory Pack from Saga. I used the dark brown Jedi Cloak on a #3 (I believe) Anakin and that came out looking pretty good.

Power of the Jedi / Re: 25th Anniversary Sets - Opened or Boxed?
« on: July 21, 2005, 08:37 PM »
I have one set of each opened, one set boxed. This was in the days when I bought two of everything and was a completist collector. Now I open and buy what I want to buy. Anyway, I love each of these editions. I think Chewie is one of my favorites, second only to VOTC.
Love the Obi and Vader duel also!

Power of the Jedi / Re: Darth Vader, Emperor's Wrath
« on: July 21, 2005, 08:34 PM »
Question though. If Sidious used force lightning on Vader prior to Vader burning up on Mustafar in ROTS, and we know after Mustafar Vader could not use FL because of his limbs and the damage it would do to his suit, would Sidious/Emperor really have zapped him for failing knowing it would short out his life support machines and thus killing him?

I ask because I too have the Emperor and Vader set up this way and now think I have to rethink this issue having read the novelization of ROTS. Thoughts?

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Happy for the "Slow Down"?
« on: July 20, 2005, 09:33 PM »
It was slow until I found a 500th Vader, Anakin Evolutions, all 3 of the new unleashed . . . . .

Anyway, still need to find an Ask Aak for my son and other then that I have what I want until the single pack clones hit! Then I want 1 of each and a couple of some IF I can find em. I heard the Hasbro is actually going to ship alot of the clones in good case assortments to make em easy to find. I hope so.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: 500th commemorative figure... Vader?
« on: July 20, 2005, 09:30 PM »
Decided to keep the 500th Vader and the Anakin Evolutions (my 11 year old son WANTS the Anakin Evolutions bad!). Oh well, just money. I go back to teaching next month and will have about $200 - $300 out of pocket expenses for starting the year so that is why my spending/collecting money is tight.  I might have to sell some of the dups I have of the AT-TE Gunner and the SA Clone #41 to get the other clones coming out.
I did sell a green 3 pack (had 1 extra) so that will help.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: 500th commemorative figure... Vader?

Found mine at a Kmarrt here in Utah. I hid one for a friend who picked it up today. I am thinking about returning it for the Anakin 3 pack that I have hid (money is tight). IF I decide on that and IF you want it I would sell it at cost plus shipping, IF I decided to return it.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: 500th commemorative figure... Vader?

I picked one up today and am really thinking about taking the figure back. For $19 it just seems like it is way over priced. That and I have the Death Star Mediation Chamber with a similiar Vader that I think fulfills the need. I am really going to have to think about this. I have the 300th Fett, so I figured I'll get the 500th Vader, but I am thinking for the $20 I can hold on to it and get some rehashed/repointed clones (3 of them) instead of one figure. Thougths to help me deicide would be appreciated.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: The Future of Star Wars Collecting
« on: July 15, 2005, 09:50 PM »
I will say this as far as the future goes. I am glad that I am a non-completist collector and that I can pick and choose what figures I get. I don't mind the rehash of the clones, at least ReHashbro picked the right two clones to repaint, the clone commander and the SA Clone #41.  I will pick up IF I can find them, the green commander, the shock troop, the 501st clone, Commander B., and the other individual clone single packs. The rest is just a waste to me. The holographic stuff I can pass on cause they didn't do anything to the figures and I am just not interested in them.
Just so everyone knows, this is not in defense of ReHasbro. Bottom line that we have to remember is that ANY toy company is a business and they are going to do what makes sense to their bottom line. That is the only place loyalty lies from any company, to its shareholders or owner. I know many will say that if they made different figures more would buy, but I don't buy that. ReHashbro has made a killing and will continue to make a killing because people will buy, and they have the age range of teens to around 40 locked in, and most people those ages don't save money, they spend. Also, think like a businessman not a collector. By keeping my post-production costs down, and putting out paint variations on figures that the majority of consumers will buy (collectors, fans, and kids) I greatly increase my bottom line.  ReHasbro is locked in on this and won't change so why expect it? Guess what I am saying is that regardless of what ReHasbro employee's say, they are NEVER going to change the core of their business model.
I saw this same issue  in my other area of collecting which is LOTR by ToyBiz. How many Frodo's, Gollum's, Aragorn's, Legolas' and Gimili's did I see? Far too many that I bought being a completist with that line. How many were rehashes? Most of the figures were rehashes and even many of the new ones used parts from other figures.  Thankfully I have decided to stop that line after the Epic waves 1 and 2 come out.
So for the future,  I am looking for those figures that are new, or that are signifiantly redone enough that I want them in my collection. Those I'll buy. If the figure doesn't pass my standards, or if I make my own customization that is better, then I'll pass on ReHasbro's efforts. Don't take me wrong, ReHasbro will get enough of my $, just not as much as in the past. Also, I expaned more into the OC area and find that the busts, mini-lightsabers, etc are really nice to have (though much more expensive). In the OC area I don't have to worry about rehashes, those companies don't have time nor money to do that to their collectors.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: SAGA Army-Builder 3-pks?
« on: August 29, 2003, 08:14 PM »
Picked up the White and Blue cone packs and loved them.  Got a Jedi 3 Pack a week ago and got one for a friend.  Only problem I see with the wave is that there are only 1 or 2 Jedi 3 Packs and tons of the Destroyer Droid Launchers which are becoming Peg Warmers now.  Hope Hasbro changes the case assortment so the clones and jedi 3 packs become more available.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: For those considering KEBco Toys:
« on: August 29, 2003, 08:09 PM »
I have dwelt with Kebco in the past and am starting my 1 of every figure back up with them.  Biggest thing with them is patience.  I have ALWAYS received my merchandise and I agree that the time and hassle of not driving around is worth the extra dollar per figure.  I followed the forum over at RS and was shocked that they removed it! Anyway, thought that the manager needed to handled it better providing an apology and showing some empathy and then explaining why the holdup and miscommunication occurred (after looking into it that day).
