Nice clean swap on the neck... did you remove the action feature or is it still enabled?

Chewie,

I love this Qui-Gon.  Since Hasbro seems to be avoiding any SA prequel characters like the plague, it seems like we have to take matters into our own hands.  I never would have thought of the RFT hands to go with this recipe, but they work well.  How accurate are Kit Fisto's boots compared to Qui -Gon's costume?  Regardless of whether they are accurate, they look nice.

Excellent work. I love the Talon Karrde. This is a very good representation of the character. The rest look very good too, but Kaarde is my fave.

BTW I'm not sure if its just me or not, but it looks like your death squad trooper has his feet reversed.

LMAO, I knew last night when I took the pictures, something didn't seem right.  Now I know -- I can't believe I missed that!  I'll add that to the worklist.

I'm also going to be going back and reworking the noghri as well, the color is off and I think I might "beef" him up.

Talon Karrde is complete!

And with his number one...

Oh yeah, she's done too :)

I've even made a Noghri Commando

The head is from the Chap Mei Beast Warriors line (think He-Man rip off)
The body is a Saga Teemto
The robe is a repaired vintage Jawa Robe
Bandolier is from the Saga 2 Boushh
Knife is a GI Joe Accessory

Finally in the Thrawn Collection, my not yet finished, but getting there Death Squad Trooper.

Head is a BBI soldier
Arms are from Saga/OTC General Madine
Torso Saga Admiral Ozzel
Legs Saga/ OTC TIE Pilot
Skirt Saga2 Genereal Veers

And in a totally unrelated vein, here's my Super-articulated Mace Windu

Head & Hands: ROTS Mace
Torso and Amrm: ROTS Obi-Wan Pilot
Legs: Saga Jedi Council Screen Scene
Lightsaber: Saga Mace Arena Battle

Star Wars Action Figures / Re: SA IG-88?

What about reworking the joints with a stikfas style ball joint?  (Similar to Gregorbian's work on GG bodyguard.)  You'd probably need to butcher at least 2 IG-88's to get it right (assuming you're not going to try casting).

66
Totally forgot about the Djas Phur gunbelt until Gregorbian used it today.

Is Delaton the same as "Master_Gunnz" from Rebel Scum?

No Delaton's been around for a while.  I think he primarily posts over the FFURG.  Very nice guy and his casts are really good quality.

68
Another figure with a hip piece holster is the 2004 Saga Lando Skiff Guard -- if you trim away the extra skirt, you are left with a decent hip holster.

69
I think so -- she was the only one I had (my Toys R Us hasn't gotten the comic pack set yet) so I wasn't going to experiement to find out for sure.  Keep your eyes open over at FFURG as Delaton is casting the head.

Thanks Chewie -- that's a great compliment given how amazing your parts choices are.  I don't know why the comic 3 pack with Covergirl made me think of Thrawn characters, but it has.   Besides the fact, they're due for renewed interest in the customizing community.

The fur lined coat seemed a natural for Karrde -- it always bugged me I didn't include it in my last version.  I suspect that there will be plenty of people improving on this Talon Karrde recipe as a way to use the jacket.

I had my first experience with RIT dye tonight and I'm loving it!  The only downside is it seems to interact with the crazy glue I use.  Nothing a little paint can't touch up.

Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: Sound Good?
« on: April 10, 2006, 05:47 PM »
If you have used a mold release (a thin layer of vaseline works), it is usually pretty easy to get the piece out with an RTV rubber mold.  You'll kind of bend and twist the mold a bit to get it free.  (Plaster doesn't have that flexibility and hence why it is harder to remove the piece.)

Removing both the original and cast pieces from the mold.

Yes... to Glassman you must listen...

Seriously, he is right -- Plaster of Paris will be horrible to work with.  Invest the money in the RTV rubber.
