Here we are at the beginning of our ninth group project. We've been doing these things since April 2004. You can see past group projects over at the FFURG Casting Calls (http://www.ffurg.com/casting_call/cc-48.htm). This time our subject will be a set of figures that Hasbro will never make not matter how much we beg and plead - the Tonnika Sisters.
Deadline for this project is the end of the year. That will give everybody something to do during Christmas vacation. It also gives you a good excuse to avoid visiting your mother-in-law because you need to get your figures done for us. ;) I know, like that will fly.
Let's start looking for fodder and reference material for these girls. You're allowed to card them but its not necessary. Vintage or modern versions are OK. The sisters can be in any outfit you desire but they must be recognizable as the Tonnika sisters.
Let's get busy.
Here are some of my favorite customs of the sisters.

-
Count me in on this. Thanks for all the reference pics too.
:P
-
Does not really caring about the T. Sisters make me a bad Star Wars fan? :)
I won't be in on this one, but I do look forward to what our pros on the site can muster. As good as the past customs of these two have been, there is now fodder out there to improve them...

http://www.yojoe.com/action/04/baroness5.shtml
-
I had thought about that, but I just don't know if that's better fodder or not... I'm thinking that this could be a good figure base, but kind of hard to come by.
:P
-
I had thought about that, but I just don't know if that's better fodder or not... I'm thinking that this could be a good figure base, but kind of hard to come by.
And I'd probably limit the fodder potential to the head only...
Come to think of it, you're right. That could get quite expensive!
-
Here's a figure that I'd love to try and use for this, if I could find a few cheap -

:P
-
Well, if you don't make one InRem, please post your suggestions and technical ideas and critiques. It's not a hard one to do but should be fun.
I'm going to go the traditional route and use ceremony leias from the princess leia collection for the figure. The glasses less Baroness would be a great head but I only have one with glasses. I've got lots of Padmes laying around that might work. I think the hard part will be making the hair.
-
I think the hard part will be making the hair.
It seems like this is where a custom hits or misses with these. The better the hair, the better the figure ends up being. It seems really easy to make something that looks far more like a DEVO helmet if one's not exceptionally careful. :)
And while I won't be making one, I will be anxiously looking forward to the submissions.
-
I'll be adding my 2 cents for this one too phuby.
I guess i can take a break from justice league... :(
Happy Thanksgiving Guys and Gals!
-
I've got my ceremony leias ready. Do you think I should use different heads or just use the Leia head? I need to make some sculpty belts.
-
they werent ment to be twins...they arent identical.
SO , i would used different heads if you got em.
-
Phruby, do you want me to make some sort of poster ad for this, like I did for the customizing challenge?
:P
-
If you got the time, that would be cool.
-
Either tonight or tomorrow, I should be able to put something together. ;)
:P
-
How's this -
(http://chewie34.250free.com/112905DECEMBERCASTINGCALL.jpg)
:P
-
Mesa like. :D
-
Im going to try to get in on this one too. My new boss says he doesnt mind me getting on the computer when things are slow so I may actually be able to communicate on a more regular basis.
Has anyone thought about the ROTS luminara body. I know I've suggested this body before for other female customs but its practicly perfect for customs, and shes so abundant. Thats probably what Im going to use.
-
She works great for customs. I used her for my Lumiya and calamari dancer a few months back.
-
Funny... I started using a Lumnira body on a new custom last night... great custom fodder!
:P

I just may have to steal that idea myself. Sorry, it's a good one. ;)

For those that are looking for a recipy for starting their Tonnika sisters, this one comes from Michael Collins over at the FFURG recipe area. (http://www.ffurg.com/custom_recipe/anh/tonnika_sisters.htm)
Step 1
First I swapped heads so Ceremonial Leia's head (regular carded version) was on "Collectors Series" Leia body and vice versa. Why you ask? Well the one in green is about a foot taller and REALLY beautiful and that Ceremonial Leia is taller than any other female figure. The one in Blue has that scowl on her face that looked like (carded) Ceremonial Leia but she's shorter so the head swap worked out great.
Step 2
The outfits were pretty easy, wristbands, belt and that neck colar thingy were made with A/B Epoxy (yes I augmented their breasts as well.)
Step 3
On Ceremonial Leia I had to chop off her lower calves and glue on boots from another regular Princess Leia. I usually superglue a paperclip between the boots and the legs for a stronger bond.
Step 4
Shave their heads so they are completley bald and paint the body now. i repainted their flesh to a more pale but try to leave the eyes alone.
Step 5
Used my infamous sewing thread technique for the hair. I just superglued a bunch on the sides and back of their heads and then put a little dab of A/B Epoxy on top and wrapped string around their heads into that beehive hair-do they got going.
Step 6
Now you can do any final touchups on their faces, lipstick, eyeliner, etc.
-
Thats a pretty complete recipe Phruby,
I wonder if we all stuck to this recipe, would all the figures look identical?
PS, can anyone else get into FFURG? Its been 3 days since i've been able to go their site to load.
-
I was just there today. The forum is down though.
-
Here is my first work in progress update on my Tonnika Sisters. I followed the advice of the receipe above and used two different heads for the figures. I used an ep1 Padme and a slave girl Leia for the heads. The bodies are Princess Leia Collection Ceremony Leias. I had to chop off their lower legs to put new boots on them. Two ep1 battle dress Amidalas supplied the boots. You may notice that the Leia head one is a little taller than the Padme one. I had to shorten the neck on the padme to get the right effect. Also the leg was cut higher on the Padme one. These girls are sisters and not twins.
Here is a picture of them in the underwear. :o

-
Im going to grab my Luminaras on Wednesday. Unfortunately Ive got to go to the TRU in Knoxville, and thats my only off day. I too will be using the amidala and leia heads, But I dont think they are the same ones Phruby is using.
-
Off to a good start Phruby!
I should have something along these lines done by this weekend.
-
Actually I'm not sure what I want to do with mine. When I did Snoova,( which I have to actually post someday) I kind of "Updated" him so to speak, and went the whole "Real" snoova as opposed to the chewie in didguise. I'm not sure if It would fly if I did the same thing to the Tonnikas. What do you say Phruby. Can I do that?
-

Just out of curiousity what do you mean by the "real" Tonnikas. I don't know too much about them, are they supposed to be someone else?
-
As long as they can be easily identified as the Tonnika sisters and not just two random female figures then go for it.
-

Yes, apparently the sisters in the cantina were supposed to be other girls impersonating the real Tonnikas.
-
well all of this is EU so ...
-
I'm way behind where I need to be on this project. Going to start the hunt for parts this week.
:P
-
Here is my latest update. They kind of look sexy the way the are now.
-
Looking good do far Phruby.
I havnet started yet...but we are supposed to get Ice storm tonight, so i may have some time tomorrow....
-
Thanks for the WIP pic Phruby. That always helps. I went through 3 boxes last night of loose parts trying to find what I need. No luck just yet, but hopefully I can find what I need this weekend, or I can look on ebay.
:P
-
Here are the initial cotes of color.
-
I added the black areas on their wrists and colars. I used black eletrical tape for their garders and belts. The buckel is of course sculpty.
-
those are really starting to look good Phurby, the neck piece's look pretty cool almost like armor. i can't wait to see what you do with the hair.
-
Yah, they are coming out better than I thought. I should have made that neck piece a little shorter. Let's get on the ball guys and see some work in progress pictures. We only have until the end of the year.
-
They look good Phruby, very nice.
I am sorry I'm behind on the ball on these. I have been so busy at work lately and my commute time doubled recently - now I get home around 7:00pm, and I'm trying to get the Rykrof Enloe series updated and one of my local friends dropped off several figure parts as he wanted me to make him something for Christmas...
I'll try and get everything done soon.
:P
-
I think I got what I need for this now. I'm pretty low on funds right now, and had to shell out $20.00 for the ANH Priness Leia Collection 2-pk with R2D2 tonight for this. Ugh. Hope I can get the customs to look ok.
:P
-
I've finished putting the hair on my sisters. The way I did this was to wrap some thread around my two of my fingers about ten times. Then I would brush on some krazy glue on the head and press the wrapped thread on to a small section of the head. I repeated this three times to cover the head. Then I cut the loops on each side and trimmed the hair so it didn't look messy. Finally, I brushed on some krazy glue to the top of the head and started wrapping the top of the head with the thread. I think they came out pretty well.
-
Great work Paul - these turned out really beautiful. I like the hair a lot - what kind of thread did you use? The kind I have is probably too thick but I'll try using it anyway.
Here's my first WIP for them. I have a lot of work to do on the hair. After that, I think I will be ok.
:P
-
Ok, 3-1/2 hours and I finally am satisfied with the hair on one of them.
:P
-
That thread works well Chewie. It's not too thick. It does take forever to get the hair correct. I've found it helps to have just taken night time cold medicine before adding the hair. That is what I did with the blue one. I think it came out better than the green one when I wasn't dozy.
As for the thread, I just randomly picked out some black thread that was in my wife's sewing cabinet. Are you going to paint on the neck piece or sculpt it? It's pretty much just a flat piece of sculpty then cut to shape on the figure with a exacto knife. How did you do the hair? Did you just cut pieces of thread and glue them on individually?
-
Thanks Phruby - I might sculpt the collar, but I'm not sure yet - I really try to avoid sculpting if I can - it's not my strong suit!
For the hair, what I did was use two separate types of thread, one thin, one thick (almost like shoestring).
Before the head was on the figure, I removed her "real hair" - the head is from the SAGA Padme Pilot for both figures.
Then I put the head on, and wrapped the thin thread tightly around my pinky finger about 10-15 times, then would glue it in place so each strand of thread would stay together. After it dried, I would cut off the wound thread with one snip, then I would have one solid section of "hair." I did that about 6 or 7 times and glued each one to her head.
Then I realized that I needed to build up the top of her head, so I drilled a small hole in the top of it - and stuck in a piece of a lightsaber into it to give something to build hair around.
At that point I used the thicker thread, and glued/wound it around the small piece of lightsaber sticking out. Then used the thin thread to wrap in turn around that. A touch of glue here and there, and now I need to paint the figure, and touch up the hair a bit.
I'll probably use the same method for the other sister.
:P
-
Wow! Now I know why it took you over three hours to do the hair. That's some impressive results. I think you will be able to get away with just painting the neck collar. I had to cover up some detail while you don't need to do that. The collar piece should look like part of the body glove anyway.
-
Phruby, Your sisters turned out great! Reall like how you did that hair!
Chewie, off to a great start...3 1/2 hours...you usually get 4 figures done in 3 1/2 hours!
Would you believe i havent started mine yet???
-
Thanks Phruby. I'll probably just paint the collars on.
Glassman, yeah this took me forever... first time I've tried making hair like this, and I have clumsy hands. You better hurry up on yours! ;)
:P
-
Thanks Greg. I was hoping the hair wouldn't look like my sith witch's hair. Sometimes cold medicine makes for interesting results.
-
Phruby your's turned out fantastic! The hair is great it isn't too thick and looks perfect on them. The paint app is nece and smooth, they reall look like production figures.
CHEWIE you are off to a great start. Your hair looks good too. I can't wait to see the finished version. :)
I finally started on mine today. I should have bought parts a long time ago, I bought a plane ticket to AZ and did all my Christmas shopping the other day so I am completely broke. I had to use what ever I could find lying around. I'm fine with the torso and the head, and I think I can make the arms work with a bit of sanding/sculpting on the end of the sleeves. But I'm reallly not sure about the legs. They seem to be about the right length and thickness but the pants are too baggy. I've got a set of Leia endor celebration legs, but I'd need to modify them pretty heavily to get the boots on. I leave on the 28th and with Christmas I don't have too much time, what do you guys think, should I keep these or try and modify the other ones?

As usual, I'm way behind as usual, but I've got a lot of progress to report, but unfortunately no pics to post. Not having my own internet access REALLY SUCKS!!!
But there is good news. One of my freinds says he will help me post my pics, but its now bwecome a matter of actually meeting up with him during this busy Christmas season. Tennessee really thrives during this time of year. So hopefully ill get all of my pics up in the next week or so.
But on to the progress report. ;D I finally managed to track down my Luninaras. There were thousands of her on the shelf at the Knoxville TRU ( not much else though) I stripped off both of the skirt peices and sanded down the ridges on the boots and gauntlets Ive got my padme head all sanded down but unfortunately I seem to have misplaced the leia head I was going to use. Ill probabluy start puttying tonight or tomorrow.
and since Phrubys thread Idea seemed to work pretty well on his, Im probably stopping at wally world on the way home tonight to pick up some thread of my own.
BTW everyones progress shots look pretty good these are all coming out really nice. Good work guys.
-
I think this is going to be a good look Ryan. No know knows what the sisters look like from the stomach down. For all we know they could be wearing those boots. I say go for it. It will make a nice change.
I can't wait to see yours Darth_Ennis. Group projects have a deadline of the end of year but if you keep us updated on progress it could be done anytime. Just look how long it took Darth_Ripley to show off her chest...buster. ;)
-
there are full body pics of the sisters on the ffurg casting call reference page for the sisters.
-
Wow. I've never seen that picture before. I always wondered why everybody made the same exact figure even though we never saw half of the ladys.
-
One week to go. :o
-
I'm starting my head sculpt tonight.
I was so wiped out yesterday that i didnt even make an attempt other than to dig up my molds of Ayya Vida. That's gonna be my base. I love that figure.
I may cast the boots from Pilot padme aslo.
The rest will be sculpted on to the cast of Ayya.
When is the actual finish date? Friday the 30th or Saturday the 31st?
-
Ryan, you are off to a good start. I actually really like your parts selection.
The thread I'm using on the hair is a dark blue... I hope I can paint it. Shouldn't be too hard.
:P
-
The first second of 2006 is when we are done.
-
I'll get #2's hair done tomorrow night I hope, and then be able to paint them both on Friday.
:P
-
well i just finished the head sculpt i'm going to use.
I also just cast the body parts i'm gonna use minus the boots. Will do that tomorrow morning before i leave for work.
Then i need to sculpt the outfit details and cast the heads and duplicate parts and paint... Saturday, i should be done.
another last minute custom...
-
great job on these so far everyone. Phruby, i love the way the hair turned out on yours. i'm not feeling too hot myself today so i will have to give the nighttime cold medicine experiment a whirl on my current 12" project ;)
i wanted to join in on this project, but i knew there was no way i could squeeze it in with the holidays.
Darth_Ennis, don't feel bad about being behind. it took me awhile to get my chest....burster completed and photos taken, i get kinda shy every now & then lol! :P
-
Thanks Ripley. When your feeling better you should try this custom. I think its right up your alley.
-
Ok guys, I dont think i'll ever learn.
We have a month to do these and i always wait till the last week.
I am using casts of the Ayy Vida bodyparts. I also cast pilot padme's boots.
I am modifying them and addng wax for the details.
I sculpted the head i'm using in wax. I didnt think i would have time to sculpt 2 distinct heads,
so i sculpted a cross between the 2 and I'm just adjusting the chin for a different size face.
I using the same arms and legs for both figs, so i only have to sculpt/mold it once, but
i will shorten one at the shins for the height difference, after the cast is made.(for the blue sister)
I decided to cast 2 torso's. I took about 1/8" out of one so it will be shorter. (for the blue sister)
I still have to sculpt the belts and then make molds.
I most likely will get this done tonight and get the cast made by saturday and
paint on saturday since its supposed to be a rainy day.
-
That head detail is really good. I like the texture of the hair. I think they are going to turn out great. Maybe the next group project I should shorten it to two weeks instead of six to get you going. ;)
-
With the other customs i make/casting helmets/life, i woulndt be able to do it in 2 weeks.
I need 4-5 weeks to get other stuff out the way before i can start... ::)
The hair was just a criss croos hatching. It really came acroos as braided
hair after the cast was made. THe pics are bad, but it sort of come across.
-
I'm almost done with the hair on these fine ladies and did some first paint coats. Covered them in two coats of black first, then their primary colors.
:P
-
Did you add any sculpty Chewie?
-
No sculpy - here they are. Not pefect, I might work on the hair some more, change the coloring of the green outfit and add a few more details. But here's my entry!
:P
-
Cool. I like that color green you used. It goes well with the light blue one. You forgot to add the little band around their left leg. For that I just used electrical tape. The hair came out really well. I think the green one's hair is the better of the two. There seems to be more of it. Its funny how making the same figure twice they can come out so different.
-
Chewie, your sisters look nice, but where is the "Chewie paint job" we are acustom to seeing?
I dint think you need to make the colors darker, just drybrush on the dark colors ( like you do so well)
And they would look fine. Are the panties on the green one supposed to be green or blue?
I made my mold last night, i will be casting and painting over the weekend.
My modem or router (cant figure out which) crapped out on me yesterday, so i have no internet at home.
So, i wont be able to post my pics till tuesday. (I'm off on monday)
Unless i get the internet running, I'll post them tuesday.
-
Thanks guys. I went into further detail my personal custom update thread on what I did and didn't get accomplished on them.
I'm not sure if I like them or not. In person I think they look great hanging out in my cantina, but in the pic I don't know if they look ok or not.
There are some details that I need to work on with these two -
- leg straps (just didn't have time)
- rework the hair a bit (didn't have time either)
- paint the belts more (again a time restraint)
- work on the panties some (they are both gray right now)
For dry-brushing, I might do a bit on them. I wasn't sure if they should get it or not. On these ladies I might stick with the clean outfit look?
Glassman, as always I'm amazed at your sculpting. I can't wait to see it all come together.
:P
-
Chewie, i like the way your sisters turned out & for a change i like the "clean" look with no drybrushing. i just can't see these gals getting into anything too dirty lol :P
i also like the hair better on the green one, the blue one's hair is just a little flat in comparison (just if you want to nit-pick) they aren't supposed to be identical anyways actually. i think they work well, just add the few little details here & there & you got a nice Team Tonnika :D
can't wait to see how yours turn out Glassman...the scuplted hair looks cool already!
-
I have actually made a lot of progress with mine, but unfortunately they will not be ready by the deadline. Ive got everything sculpted and the primary paint coat is on it. Ill probably finish up the paint and try to work on the hair tonight. Hopefully I will have all of my pics up next week, as my freind and I have finally gotten a day off together.
I have to say when this project was first brought up, I wasn't very excited about it. These were two characters that I couldn't have cared less about, so they were never on my custom agenda. BUt now, seeing how well they are turning out I'm glad I go to be a part of this.
This is something I never would have done otherwise. Thanks Phruby. ;D
Any thoughts on what next months is going to be?
BTW I know how you feel Glassman I can only use the computer at work myself right now.
-
That's kind of the point of these. It's a way to get everybody to try something they would have never tried before. I can't wait to see the final product from you guys. Chewie, don't dirty the girls up. Unless they just entered a mud wrestling contest. ;)
-
Better late than never, right? Happy New Year!!
Well, I'm back in the office and can post again...You never realize how much you take for granted the little
things, like internet. I couldnt do anything at home...
Anyway here are my Sisters. I have 2 versions. One with the scupt shown above, and a re-do.
I finshed saturday morning, but my wife made a comment that made me go back and redo the heads.
I went back for 2 different heads, since i had time. If i would have posted them saturday, i would have walked away from them, but with extra time, i fiddled with em.
Here is the first version.
Here are the cast, before painting.
(http://home.comcast.net/~glassmandesigns/customs/groupproject9/tonnika-wip1a.jpg) (http://home.comcast.net/~glassmandesigns/customs/groupproject9/tonnika-wip2b.jpg)
Here are the painted figures.
I ended up haveing to take alot more out of the shins which is evident in the blue one's right leg.
Here are the figs with the redone heads. I took casts of the head i made, and added the face cast of shak ti and sly moore. This gave me two distinct faces and a short face and a long face. ( like the reference of the Sisters)

The Comparison.
I started a card for them, but again, without internet, i couldnt get the font i needed to finish them at home.
So i'll get that pic up soon.
-
Excellent work Glassman. But your work always is. :P As for myself, Ive got them painted, but Im having a bit of difficulty with the hair. Its not as easy as it sounds. But so far theyre looking very good. I was able to finally look at some color pics, and realised my colors are a little off so Ive made a note to fix that as soon as I get home.
-
Glassman, that's an amazing improvement on the heads with the second set. They look more like sisters rather than twins as they did in the first set of heads.
I'm really blown away with how great the sculpted hair looks, it really makes them pop imo.
can't wait to see them carded, that will be a real treat!
-
Thanks Darth E, Looking forward to seeing youre submission.
Thanks Rip, I think the hair turned out well myself. Its the only part I
like about them really. While i love the ayy vida sculpt, its too shapely for the
sisters.
-
Amazing work on these Greg! All four head sculpts are some of your best work. I like the idea of grafting on the other figures faces. It makes them look more like sisters than twins. I think I would swap the heads on the blue version. The second version of blue seems too fat to me for the body. I think the first version would work better. I can see what you mean about Aay body being too shapely. It's almost too nude for these girls. I like how you got the belts to droop like that. That is something I tried to do on mine but was unsuccessful. There is a thread over at FFURG you should add these to. Great job!
-
Glassman, these are very impressive. Your sculpting abilities never cease to amaze me, you are at a level I could only dream of reaching.
I can't believe how awesome the bodies look, and you did a great job painting them. They look like official Habro mockups.
The only thing I don't like is the faces. Sorry, they just seem a little ugly to me. They are great sculpts, but they just make the women look unattractive to me. Don't get me wrong, I could never come close to sculpting anything nearly that nice. I just think maybe some sort of Padme or Leia heads might look a little sexier. But that's just my opinion. It had to be a pain to sculpt the heads, especially the hair.
Excellent work, it's unreal that you made two sets of heads, but the bodies to me are just flat out spectacular.

Well, as promised here are my submissions. I finally got the hair to some semblence of what I wanted. They could be a lot better in my opinion, but I'm never really satasfied with my own work. :-[ :P
Let me know what you guys think.

Ennis, I think they look great, and the hair turned out really well. They will look great in a cantina diorama I would think.
So what parts did you use?
:P
-
Darth E, They truned out very nice. I like the hair on the Green one better, looks more tightly wraped.
The paint aps look very clean.
Thanks Phruby, its funny you noticed that detail with the belt. I was particular about acheiving that.
It just stood out to me in the reference pic, so i made sure i did it.
Thanks for the critique chewie, the faces have always been ugly. The comment my wife made was that they looked like
a man. Too broad and not steamline enough for a womans face. So when i slpiced the new faces i though that would fix it, but sly's face is rough with alot of character...too much. Shaks is too broad. But i did learn a quick way of getting heads made. I was looking at a couple different heads last night... I may revise them again..?
I had origianlly chose pilot padme as my head of choice, but i wanted them to look different, so i chose other heads.
-
Sorry Chewie, I was on a time limit when I posted them so I never got to give the recipe. :-[ The bodies are both ROTS Luminaras, the head on the green one is a misc Padme that I had lying around, and the blue one is a slave Leia hollowed out.I sanded down the blue ones torso to make her shorter, but you really cant tell from the pic. Im still a lousy shot with my camera, but I hope to get better. ;D
-
Great job Darth_Ennis. The hair came out great. It isn't as easy as one might think. I think the hair on the green one turned out better than the blue one. The paint job is well done. I'd suggest reducing the length of the necks. They are way too long.
-
Ennis, thanks for the recipe. That was a great use of parts. I agree that the necks are a bit long.
Glassman, I didn't mean that as a bad thing, just a thought on them. My wife is usually my hardest critic, when she sees one she often says "Why didn't you do this or why didn't you do that - or my favorite - Didn't they already make that figure?" ;)
:P
-
Actually, Inm kind of embarrassed about that, I didnt realise it until you pointed it out. but the heads kinda came loose when I was taking the pic. They're actually supposed to be pushed down a little more than that. :-[
-
Glassman, I didn't mean that as a bad thing...
I have no problem receiving critiques chewie, my feelings wont be hurt.
My wife doesnt really critique my work she just says what she thinks.
Most of the time its ooh ahh, so i really listen when its a comment that somthing isnt right.
Darth E, maybe you an lend some neck to my figures, mine are too short. ;D
-
Cool. So any ideas on another group project for Jan-Feb? I'm thinking maybe we could make another 2-pack of some sorts - maybe a movie style Snow Bunny Padme w/ Yoda from the cartoon series. I think Glassman made a cartoon style version before, so how about a movie style version?

:P
-
Sounds like a plan to me. I've got a cartoon style Yoda that Glassman sent me a long time ago in a....
I've been wanting to reposition him into the stance he has on the back of most star wars toys. You know, the one that advertises shop.starwars.com.

-
I've been wanting to do that custom too Phruby. The Toon Yoda in that stance.
I'd probably need more than 5 days to complete that one... :-\
-
So are you guys thinking animated style? I'll probably go with movie style myself. Doesn't Yoda have a large hood or something at the beginning of the snow scene?
:P
-
I think he does. I say its customizer's choice on toon or regular style. A vintage style Snowbunny Padme could be interesting though...
-
Ok - customizer's choice - Movie Style, Animated, or Vintage Style. Heck, we could even do a 12" if you want, Hemble could probably blow us away with something in that scale.
For myself, I'll go with Movie Style.
:P
-
Glassman - simply stunning customs here! The sculpts look excellent (especially the "second" version of the headsculpts). I really don't think hasbro would be able to top these. Your sculpting and casting skills are unbelievable! Keep it up!
DE - Great work on your twins! I like your choice of base-body, the articulation may not be necessary for these characters, but the more articulation, the better in my opinion. The paint job is really clean and the "hair" looks excellent!
-
Shall we set the date for the end of february?
Clone Wars Yoda and Snowbunny Padme (any style or scale)
-
Sounds good. Which means i have untill February 21st to start... ::)
-
Greg are you doing a modern snowbunny padme?
-
Suonds good to me, I'm working on a Snowbunny Padme right now anyway. (Shes the one in the trench coat in my WIP pic) ;D Now I've got an excuse to get off my procrastinating arse and finish it. :P
-
I've also already started a snowbunny. Although I was hoping to sell it on eBay to cover some of my recent expenses (its a pain to have to buy your fodder). I hope I can make mine look half as good as the one that Owen made.
-
Greg are you doing a modern snowbunny padme?
I doubt it. I have too many To-Do's to be repeating customs i just did a few months ago.
Especially one that took me a nearly a year!!!
I dont want to widen the scope of the project too much, but what if we did
Toon or Movie Versions of any Clone wars cartoon character?
Just a suggestion, but dont just change it on my account.
I'll still be doing yoda.
-
I'm in, end of February sounds good.
:P
-
Well, since the monthly customizing challange is focused on playsets this month I guess we can fill the character hole with an all out Clone Wars cartoon series group project. I'll make an offical thread for this.
-
3rd try...
I went back and redid the blue sister's head...again!
Now the face isnt as wide. I aslo carded them.

-
That blue face is best one yet. Are you going to redo the green one?
-
Naw, I'm done with these. If i keep fixing them, i'd nevers stop... I'd nitpick them to death!
-
Your carded work always amazes me. I love the details you put into these. What sort of labels do you use to make the cards and inserts?
-
Thanks Brent. Its just printed on Phot paper. No labels. I spray mount ( spray can adhesive) the backs and press them on a piece of cardboard. Then trim with my exacto. The insert is just printed and cut out, not glue needed.
