On this particular one, the hardest ones for me are the Progressive Era presidents.  I hate that time period and have never bothered to study much of it.

I'm reading For Liberty and Glory.  It's about George Washington and Lafayette and the relationship between the two.  Pretty good read so far.

I absolutely hate American Idol.  My wife loves it though.  I do actually watch the first few episodes just to see how stupid people will make themselves look.  I'm thinking, most of these people have to know they can't sing and they are just wasting time.

I know I can't sing, and would never subject myself to that just for a few minutes of fame.

Stumbled across this on another message board that I frequent.  I got 35 my first time through.  Luckily I named all but two through the first part of US History, the part that I teach.

I've got a single fold tall fossile wallet.  It doesn't have the check pocket in it and I've never carried checks around anyway.  Mine stays nice and clean and isn't used to hold a bunch of junk in.  I've got my required ID's, debit card, credit card, insurance cards, and of course my good ol' Vitamin Shoppe card.

I just finished reading a book about the CIA in Afghanistan.  Pretty good read by the leader of the first team in.

Now I'm reading For Liberty and Glory about George Washington and Lafayette and the roles they played in the revolutions within their respective countries.

Not sure if I liked the show or not.  I guess it was okay, but I doubt I'll tune in unless there is nothing else on.  I might DVR the show, but I'm not going to go out of my way to watch.

TV-9D9 / Re: Star Wars Holiday Special at Target?

Okay, I clicked through google videos last night and started watching this.  I couldn't decide if I was embarassed or what with watching it.  I never made it through the whole thing.  I watched the first 10 minutes and lost it.  I would just fast forward and watch bits and pieces.  Got to the cartoon and decided I would go back and watch it later.  I still don't know what happened in what I was watching and I can't say I'm really sad for not having watched it.

I have never seen the Holiday special.  I'm really tempted to pick up a bootleg copy just to get a good laugh, or good cry in over it.

I did pretty decent this year.

Live Free or Die Hard DVD
Transformers DVD
Pirates III DVD
For Liberty and Glory book
The War book
Rawlings Silverback Softball glove
Rawlings Gold Glove softball glove
bunch of shirts
Academy gift card
Guitar Hero II
MVP 2007 NCAA baseball for PS2
Medal of Honor Vanguard for PS2

And for the first time in years...no Star Wars.  I didn't even ask for anything.

Wife and I went to see I am Legend last night and we absolutely loved it.  I've never read the book though so I don't know how the two would compare.

Part of the movie absolutely killed me and my wife was in tears...those of you that have seen it know what I'm talking about.  The hand grenade was kind of goofy, but I had no problem with it...weapons locker would have made more sense though.

Temp is dropping here.  Nowhere near as bad as you guys north of the Red River though.  We are supposed to be in teh 50's today, but I doubt it gets that warm. Probably sit in the mid 40's all day.

We are hitting that funny Texas cool spell for a week or two and then the temp will jump and down again.  I just hope in January it's not as cold as last year.  I played winter softball and the warmest night we played on the temp was about 37 or so.

Picked up my newest figure yesterday in the mail.  Got an Endor Han in a Hong Kong baggie.  I'm now working on getting one of each Han in a baggie.  That's the newest part of my Han focus...nice because for the most part, it's a cheaper than getting carded figures.  I'm not going for bagged variations, just one of each.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Gift cards: gift or not?
« on: December 10, 2007, 04:57 PM »
I like gift cards for me, but for giving them I'm not so sure.  They are great for gifts to newlyweds and brothers in college (as was mentioned), but no so much for other things.  A buddy's wife always gets me a gift card for my birthday, usually to either Academy or B&N.  Mainly because they don't know what books I have and have not read.

My wife is the same way.  She doesn't mind getting them but hates giving them because they are impersonal.
