Title: Carbon Freeze Me or make yourself a Stormtrooper!
Post by: shmashwitdaclub on May 6, 2013, 01:51 PM
Very cool - Carbon Freeze Me is returning!  Or you can make a statue of yourself as a Stormtrooper!

Damn right that's cool...  :)

I like this better than the Carbonite slab honestly.  I sure hope this is available next year as I'm hoping I might be able to slip away to SWW next year.

I like the Stormtrooper better as well.  Would be great to see one up close first, but I would spring for this if I ever get down there.

I didn't see the scale listed for the stormies... are they 3.75" too?

I'm guessing they're the same scale as the Carbonite block which is a good bit over 3.75", IIRC.  I think anything in the 3.75" range would piss off Hasbro without the say-so on it.

Neither piece is 3.75" scale.  The Carbonite Blocks (if they are the same as last year) are in the 8" range and it sounds like the Stormtrooper will be the same - from the comments section of the blog post:

With the base, the figure stands about 7.5-inches tall. The base measures about 4-inches wide by 2.25-inches long.

Thanks for the info, Jeff.

Yep, measured my Carb Block & it's almost 8" long by 3" wide & 1" deep. Tho the Stormtrooper is very nice, still not worth the $75. shipping to Canada via FedEx. The Carb Block cost me a tad over $200 & I could have shipped it for less even with FedEx.

The Carb Block seems to be a cold cast porcelain so adds some weight. The packing for shipping is terrible, no bubble wrap or peanuts. Just drop in an outer box & they ship, have heard a few received damaged.  :-\

The way they're doing it is so cheap too...  the materials.  I'd still want one though, even at the cost.  The Stormtrooper would have me roped.

I still want to see it in person to get a better feel for it.  8" is a better value I suppose, but I'd much rather have a 4".

I recall seeing, not in person but a photo of, one of the carbo blocks...  pretty decent I thought.  I'm curious to see the Stormtroopers now since there's a bit more to those.

Was just thinking about SWW's because 2 of my local buddies are going, and I REALLY wish I was able to go too...  Kind of a bad time of year because of hockey playoffs though, hah, but yeah I'd really like to go...  This is the kind of one-off souvenier that would rope me in too, as I really think this is an ideal thing to remember the trip...  I'd want both, sadly, but the Stormtrooper's really awesome, plus they're doing male and female bodies which is fantastic.

It's expensive I think, but I'd be roped into this if I were there.

Looks like the D-Tech Me experience is making a return to SW Weekends this year (http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2014/04/new-options-for-star-wars-d-tech-me-returning-to-star-wars-weekends-starting-may-16-2014/), but with a few new options - two new figurine types (Alderaan Princess and X-Wing Pilot) and a new scale (16" inch figure).

The 7" figurines are $99.95 each plus shipping and applicable sales tax.
The 16" figurines are $1,499.95 each plus shipping and applicable sales tax.

Twice as big... 15x the price?   ???

That has to be a misprint, right?  I could see $149.95, but $1500?  Wow.

That's what a lot of folks were hoping, but the Disney blog author confirmed the price in the comments and it's what they're charging when ordering a 16" figure online (http://www.disneyparksmerchandise.com/parksauthentic/star-wars-d-tech-me/) (an option only for those who have a D-Tech Me scan on file with Disney).
