Who here is as jazzed about these sculpted mini posters as I am? I just forked over a pretty penny for the CIII exclusive poster and cant wait for the next three to be released.
I am planning to place these behind my vintage figures in my collectors case and because of their size these are going to look awesome there.
Can anyone share any specifics on the poster with the landspeeder that was on display at CIII?
It is about time for us to talk about these great collectibles at JD.

I came across this site (http://www.firesidecollectibles.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=13) who has the posters up for pre-order for $65.00 each and $8-$9 shipping on each poster.
Is there any deal better than this out there? What is the advantage of ordering directly from Code 3 as I believe I heard there is a collectors guild or premium membership.
DBK

I missed out on the C3 exclucive Darth poster. :(
The vintage movie art poster with the Landspeeder (ANH Style D One Sheet) (http://photos.sirstevesguide.com/showphoto.php?photo=11006&cat=3071&page=1) is apparently coming soon with a production limit of 3000, when that is I have no idea. Seems they want to make more in the future. Code 3 Sculpted Posters (http://www.starwars.com/collecting/news/code3/news20050318.html)
Here's the benefits of the Code 3 Collectors Guild Guide (http://www.code3.net/starwars/sw_special.asp?id=76)
$65. is not bad compared to Code 3's price of $79.
-
The ANH Style D poster is set to be exclusive to Star Wars Shop. Code 3 wasn't able to provide a timeline though.

Adam / Dale:

I think Im most looking forward to the ANH Style D, but they're all great.

Yeah, got the same email. Should be interesting on the 10th, the site may bog down with hits. I'm hoping to get one, we shall see. :-\

Thanks for the info DBK, I posted the info on the front page.

Dale,
Out of curiousity, did you find the poster on the main or sw page? Or did you have to do a search. Lastly was it showing in stock or a preorder?

At C3, my wife actually thought that exclusive sculpted poster was really cool, and tried to get one, but by the 2nd day they were sold out. I've been checking eBay, but I refuse to pay $80.
-
Quick question. Why did the C3 Vader poster sell for $20 on the code 3 website, while the other posters are $79?
-
Twofold:
1) that was the price at C3
2) it is a mini poster (about 4x5) much smaller than the next round of posters coming which will be about 8x11.
I Hope this helps,
DBK

-
Jesse,
I feel your delema, believe me. I broke down and paid $89 for mine of ebaY as I thought there would be no way in the world there would be an opportunity to get it for cheaper.
Boy was I wrong ::).
The poster is great but stupid me overlooked the fact that it was in fact a mini. This piece would have looked much better imo if it was the same size as the sculpted posters to come.

I have heard that some people that were not Guild Members placed an order and they have had theres shipped out. >:(
Some of the posters have started shipping, mine has not thus far.
-

Yeah, that's what we all thought out at C3 as well. But the bright side though, for avid completists at least, is that since this one doesn't match the rest, a lot of folks felt "safe" picking one up as a souvenir from C3, and not necessarily feeling like they needed the rest to "complete the set", since they're a totally different size.
Sorry to hear you resorted to eBay Matthew. Sorry to hear you didn't get one out there either Jesse. Wish I'd known others wanted this piece when I first walked up to their booth on Thursday and there was no line at all. :-\ Hell, based on that, I didn't even think they were gonna sell out of the things. Boy was I ever wrong.

Sweet! Just checked my account status and my Vader poster has shipped. I requested standard shipping so it should be awhile before I receive it, I'm looking forward to it. 8)

Just received an email from Code 3 on the A New Hope Style D poster.
This item will go up for sale in the starwars.com shop during the month of May. It will go up for sale on the Code3.net site in the month of June . We will make sure you are the first to know when it is for sale.
Style D
This poster was produced for the 1978 summer re-release of Star Wars. It is reported that the A New Hope Style D poster is one of George Lucas' favorite Star Wars posters. All the detail of this unique poster has been captured by sculptors in hand painted; quality cold cast resin. Many hours were spent and much care was taken bringing this poster into this new format, never sacrificing the look of the original poster art.

Damn show off Guild Members. ::)
It won't let me in to access the info/pictures. :(
-
I'll see what I can do. ;)
-
Lets try this.
-
Thats works so more picture to come. ;)
-
Not bad! I'm still unsold on these as a whole, but they are very unique.
-
Still more.
-
Wait, more. ;D
-
Almost there. :-*
-
Whew, last one. :)
-
I like this one, but the planet "balls" look stupid.
-
I received an e-mail today from Code 3 saying that the first ANH sculpted poster is 90% sold out. As well, the ESB is 75% and ROTJ is 60% sold out.
If anyone's considering grabbing one of these, better do it soon! ;)
-
They're nice, but not something I need to be complete with. As I said at C3, I'm more than pleased the exclusive was a different size than the others, it makes me less inclined to get them all.
Any idea on issue size for the other posters?
-
Dimensions: 8" x 10 1/2" x 2 1/2".
-

Well looky at what just arrived in the mail. (http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/froehlich/f060.gif)
Not bad for $14.95. ;D
-
I have to admit, that one is pretty cool. Even if it's just a mini version.
$15, eh? Last time I checked eBay, they were going for $80. ::)
-
Ya know, the best part of this whole thing is that Loyalty Dollars Rewards Program for $10.00 that I had, well according to the Code 3 site, it expired when I checked my account back when I got the Code 3 email roughly 3 months before Code 3 put it up on the site and when I placed my order it was still showing so I took the chance.
Guess that paid off! ;D ;D
-
They had these on QVC. They looked excellent.
-
Not bad for $14.95. ;D
Just got my CC statement in the mail, guess I was not charged $14.95 for it.
They only charged me $10.00 US, $12.96 Canadian so it looks like the shipping was free! (http://www.telusplanet.net/public/djustus/rofl.gif) ;D
-
StarWarsShop.com now has the Style D ANH Sculpted Poster (http://shop.starwars.com/catalog/product.xml?product_sku=SWC3SPANHD&ReferrerID=CJADBN-00001) up for order.
I don't think I realized this going to be a SWS.com exclusive (or I just totally forgot).
$79.99 and ships in August - Edition size of 3000.
-
Although I'm not sure if I could afford these, they are awfully tempting. I kind of like DBK's idea of using them as a backdrop to figure displays and things like that too. Pretty cool collectibles.
-
I just placed my order ;D!
IMO, these are just too cool to pass up. Cost first than space are the major factors in my decision to collect a line. Cost on these are high however these are "too cool fo school" and are small enough to display such historical recreations.
firesidecollectibles still has the first 3 up for pre-order for $65.00 each.
Regards,
DBK
-
I'm still contemplating (and trying to stay away from) this line. They look cool, but I'm not sure I'm willing to delve into them at that price, when I know full well that this line is probably just going to continue expanding more and more until every major poster style for all 6 flicks is covered. As an avid completist, that's a fat chunk of change that I'd probably rather put towards Code 3's (overpriced) ships instead. Decisions, decisions... Argh.
BTW, Walmart.com (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=3875841&cat=5255&type=5&dept=4171&path=0%3A4171%3A4172%3A173005%3A5255) has all 3 of them available for pre-order at $72.46 each. Not great, but still better than Code 3's and SWS.com's prices...

Empire Strikes Back 3D Sculpted Poster (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6540491604)
When you posted this, I assumed that some lucky guy had bought this at CIII. But I just received my e-mail from Code 3 advertising this auction that they are listing. No mention of the proceeds going to charity, so I must say I'm quite disgusted with Code 3 for doing this. ::)
-
Jesse,
Well the folks at Code 3 are very much in the know of the market value on their collectibles. There e-mail when they sent out the notification of the $20 Vaders made mention of the posters already selling on ebaY for an excess of $100.
I can't ding them as offering them up for $20 and no shipping was a very smart way to drum up business. Since these posters will have a low producion run, I can't figure out the logic on auctioning of a #1 piece. It's not like they are going to get several thousand dollars for the piece.

Dale,
$760 now :o. Ya know, when I typed it's not like they are going to get a couple thousand for it I hesitated and the thought that they might occured to me :-X.

-
That's a little scary that some folks value the edition number THAT much, to where it's currently sitting at $740 more than it sold for at the convention, just because the number is different. Crazy!
Granted this one's #1, so I guess that makes it a little more special than other low edition numbers, but still. Not that much more special, IMO. I'd love to see how far off #2 would fall, if they auctioned that one.
Brilliant marketing by the Code 3 folks, that's for damned sure!
-
$760. that buyer really wants it. I wouldn't be surprised if it went over $1000.
-
Playing devil's advocate here. What happeneds if the buyer receives it damage? What number does he get as a replaement?
-
The buyer keeps the same number and just gets the sculpture itself replaced. I also agree it was a brilliant move by Code 3 so that the money either goes back to Code 3, Hot Buttered Elves, or possibly to charity. Also, from what I've heard, the first 3D SW sculpture should be shipping next week. Can't wait to get mine. :)
-
Mini-Rock,
I got so excited about the releasing next week that I checked my credit card = no charge from firesidecollectibles yet :'(.
Nice high end collection pics btw.

Thanks DBK. Congrats on your new home. I'm really wanting to jump in that nice pool you have. :D
I'm also very excited to get the sculpted posters. Hopefully, there aren't any delays. :)

Ya better add that to me list Matt, remember, it's a pre-order.

Oh hell, put me down as number two.
I'm starting to regret not getting these after ruminating on the poster + framing issue. In the end, these are smaller and cheaper and definitely more unique.
Matt, lmk if you want me to paypal some cash in advance.

Wish I would have known about this a few days ago, so I could have had a friend pick me up one. :(
If anyone here can help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated.

Cool, bump me up to #1. Unless of course they make it out to be like the website and I'm still screwed. :-\
-
I went back in and added another so if all fails Brent, I have 2 ordered. ;)
It's showing as 2 separate orders.
-
Thanks Dale, I appreciate that.
Does it note the size on this issue? I'm probably the only one, but I'm hoping it's a smaller size like the C3 exclusive was. Then if they released ANH version in the same size down the line I'd be set.
I noted that the regular A versions are all sold out on the site. The Return poster was my fave, I love the simplicity of that image.
-
Thanks Dale, I appreciate that.

Yep, according to the site:
Material: Cold-Cast Resin
Dimensions: 4" x 6 1/4"
Release Date: November 2005
Edition Quantity: 1,983
-
I hope both orders go through. ;D
Just reading on RS that some members that are not guild members are able to order again just like the Vader poster.
-
Well it's sitting in my cart but I keep getting the message that only guild members can get it (and Vader's Tie) and it dumps it from my cart when I try to check out.
-
****. I just ordered mine before I actually came in here and saw that you needed some help Brent. But does Dale have you covered? LMK...
I was surprised to find that I even had $30 in Loyalty Rewards there (that I thought expired last year), so I used $20 of them on this, so it'll only cost me about $7 with tax (since I can pick it up in person).
I figured since it seems to be smaller, and match the C3 poster in size (and price), I'd go for it even though I've skipped the 4 bigger posters (so far)...
-
I pm'd my response to you. I was getting messages about a limit of only one per person (not sure if this applied to anyone else or was just a complimentary gift with my non-status) so I'm a little concerned about Dale being able to get two. The rest is in the pm. Thanks.
-
Hopefully you should be OK with the Loyalty Rewards Matt, I used my $10. reward for my Vader poster that expired just a few months before it came up online and it went through. ;D
I guess I'll just have to wait till November when they fill the orders, not sure if both will go through but will see in time.
Is there a limit on this on how many you can order? I don't see anything on there site. ???
-
There's nothing on the site Dale, it just comes up with my order alongside the you can't order cuz you're not in the club memo. There may be no practical limit for you guys. I'll just have to wait and see. :-\
-
I was just reading a post at RS and some member called Code 3 and they said there was no limit on how many you can order. If thats true then I should be OK.
I haven't seen anyone else mention placing a order that is not a guild member so unsure WTF is going on.
-
Yeah, I saw some folks over at RS mention they weren't guild members but could order. Not sure if they actually followed through though. I can get it in the shopping cart, so technically I can order, I just can't pay. ;)
-
Well heres an interesting 3D Revenge of the Sith poster. Oh my!
-
Code 3 has apparently changed their shipping policies, and will no longer allow for will call (in-person) pickups here at their SoCal warehouse. Not a big deal on the $5 shipping cost of the ROTJ poster, but you can kiss my ass goodbye from dealing with them on the higher end (huge) ships. To have to pay the insane shipping on those monsters, despite the fact that I drive right by their offices frequently, really pisses me off. Not to mention Californian's get hit with the additional 8.25% sales tax on our purchases from them. Totally sucks... >:(
-
I'm kind of surprised that the Revenge mini poster is still up for pre-order with a 1983 edition size after the Con. Even if it is only available for pre-order online for guild memebers.
I received confirmation that my Code 3 ANH Poster shipped from firesidecollectibles yesterday. Does anyone that ordered one have it in hand? If so thoughts?

Just received my ANH Style A poster #850/3000 a few minutes ago from UPS. It really is a beautiful piece. I did notice one difference, albeit slight, from the image on the outside of the and the actually sculpture itself. The starburst coming from the ligthsaber on the outside of the box is clear, however, on the sculpture, it is not a clear burst but instead white. I must say, very happy with it, great piece. Cannot wait for the next two two ship this fall!
-
Welcome to JD and I am looking forward to getting mine in the mail next Monday or Tuesday.

Orders are open to general public now. I placed my own order, but thanks Dale for helping out.

Oooooh! Very nice they opened it up, still not sure if I get 1 or 2 but if I get 2 I'll have a spare. ;)
-
I received my ANH Poster and although I really like the poster overall the white lines coming from Luke's saber look like toothpaste and bugs me.
Anyone, receive their ESB Poster? I know walmart.com shipped these out last week.
DBK
-
Yup! Got mine. I really like the ANH sculpture, but the ESB sculpture is so much more magnificent. There was so much more for the artist to do on this one and they did an awesome job.
-
My ANH poster should be on it's way up here, I'm looking forward to it. 8)
-
To all:
I received my ESB Poster a week ago. The detail IMO, was much better than the first and just came out looking so nice.
I received confirmation that SWS has mailed my ANHD Poster so I should have that tomorrow ;D.
DBK
-
Got the ANH Style D Poster in the mail today. I also received confirmation that my ROTJ poster shipped today. Man these things are coming in fast and furious.
DBK
-
These are awesome little pieces, aren't they? I received the ROTJ sculpture about a week ago and the ANH D a few days ago. They make great stand alone pieces, but having them all set-up right next to each other looks awesome! I can't wait to see EP's I, II, and III done along with some of the prequel teasers. :)
-
I just received my ANH Style A poster. Man this thing is a fair size and heavy. I got #547 out of 3000.
I just have to find a place to display it. :-\
-
I got my ROTS One-Sheet 3D Sculpture (http://community-2.webtv.net/Mini-Rock/Episode3Propsand/) this week. They did an amazing job on this one. :)
-
I have another parcel... make that 2 parcels to pick up (FedEx). It looks like it's the 2 Revenge of the Jedi posters went through according to my CC statement online. ;D
Did you get yours Matt?
Any word on your end Brent? Looks like I got the extra. ;)
-
I think mine shipped, but Jim hasn't indicated it arrived yet. I did get a FedEx shipping notice from them though. I don't think I ordered anything else :P
-
Sounds like your in good hands then. 8)
-
Did you get yours Matt?
Yeah, I got mine a couple days ago actually. Of course, I haven't quite gotten around to opening it yet though... ::)
-
Mine arrived (#13 of 1983) today along with the acylic case:
Revenge of the Jedi Mini Poster Sculpture (http://community-2.webtv.net/Mini-Rock/Episode6Propsand/)
-
What's the best place to order these?
-
Ebay. Lots of the OT posters are going for well below retail, around $60 with no bids. Shipping is steep on them. I'm sorely tempted to get the other OT versions.
-
I picked up my 2 Revenge posters today, #144 and #734.
They come in a very nice window box.
-
It looks like one of Dale's extras is going to be mine through a trade of sorts.
I'm quite excited to hold this in my own hands, but I'm only planning on purchasing this one.
Unless someone by chance happens to have the C3 exclusive ESB mini-poster featuring Darth Vader that they're looking to get rid of...

New mini available at EE. Price is 26.99

)
That sucks so much. I hate you, Dave Myatt.
-
Huh? I think that poster looks great!
What does Dave Myatt have to do with this?
-
So has anyone heard of any rumors as to what the next mini may be? I love these things but just cant afford the larger ones so I am limiting myself to the minis. There are only 3 so far correct?
ESB
Revenge of Jedi
Revenge of Sith
-
I was kind of curious about the minis as well. I really like these things, but can't afford the bigger ones either. Is there three of them so far, and can they still be picked up anywhere?

The ESB one was a Celebration 3 exclusive, so you'll probably only find them on eBay (or a few e-tailers).
-
First three were as follows:
As you can see, quite nice pieces but most retailers are sold out of all three. Some still have the ROTJ poster, but ANH/ESB are gone, gone, gone from what I've been able to search out. Revenge of the Jedi is pictured above.
This is the Celebration 3 exclusive (ESB) that Jesse mentioned:
Really a neat piece and my personal favorite ;)
There's a second ANH version as well, Style D (http://andrewstoyz.com/catalog/code_3__a_new_hope_legendary_cast_sculpt__style_d__4424613.htm)
Plus the Revenge of the Sith above and the Episode III style A above.
-
I was very impressed by the window box packaging on the ROTJ poster. That may very well get my nod for the best packaging. REALLY REALLY nice.
There's a sticker with number 0500 on the top, so I'm assuming I got #500 right on the nose?
-
I see that they have the mini for Return of the Jedi. Its identical to the Revenge of the Jedi. Wonder how that one will sell with everyone getting the first version. ???

Hmm, not sure I like that piece but it might be worth grabbing.
-
I was never much of a fan of the original poster, so I think this should be an easy pass for me.
-
Who's the guy on the poster with the dark hair holding the red light saber?
Is that an accurate rendition?
-
Who's the guy on the poster with the dark hair holding the red light saber?
Uncle Bob, the bastard of the family.
-
Is that an accurate rendition?
The red lightsaber, yeah.
The dark hair, no.

Thanks Jeff. Very interesting. Tempting too, but passing for now.

Thanks for the info Jeff. I had no idea this was coming out and would have probably missed it otherwise.

Round 2. Still not final, but looks better then the last photo we saw...

-
Yeah, that makes it more tempting. Not digging Vader's bug-eyes though.
-
That poster looks 100% better. Just put my pre-order in. ;)
Snags
-
Had to have it. :P
-
Noticed, my order which I placed right away at EE.com is showing backordered >:(.
Anyone happen to grab this at the Con? If so please share your impressions of this sculpted poster and please post a picture if you can, thanks.

Best deal I've seen lately for the C3 ESB version (http://cgi.ebay.com/Star-Wars-Celebration-Code-3-ESB-3D-Vader-Mini-Poster_W0QQitemZ150049498175QQihZ005QQcategoryZ751QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem). The price has dropped a fair bit on it too, but usually it's going for more than this.

I was literally just coming in here to post this. If you look at one of his completed auctions (http://cgi.ebay.com/Star-Wars-Celebration-Code-3-ESB-3D-Vader-Mini-Poster_W0QQitemZ150044027275), you'll see I bought one from him -- and it arrived today, completely sealed! What a sweet piece.
After getting this piece, I can see it'll be a shame if the rumours about Code 3's demise come to fruition.
-
What is the reserve on it ? His BIN price ?
-
The auction states its BIN was $65US.
-
I've just picked up the ROTJ and ANH posters hoping to add the ESB and ROTS when i see them on uk ebay.
Does anyone know if they'll be making a TPM and ATOC ones? I;m hoping to have 1 large one for each film.
-
ROTS one at BestBuy.com for $16.95
-
Good deal on ANH Style D if anyone is interested (http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=CD17018).
-
I just heard on the Star Wars Action News podcast today that the Code 3 Star Wars license is no more. No more ships, posters, etc., the way it sounds.
-
I think that's been rumoured for a while now, hasn't it? Though this may finally be confirmation. Too bad too, because I like these ships a lot (I only have one) and the posters, though I can see where that would get limited. I'd suggest for the posters they might have overestimated the love for prequels stuff. I think the OT posters are great, but the new stuff not so much.
As for the ships, I thought they were a nice market down from the Master Replicas ships. But I guess if you're willing to drop $400 for a die-cast ship, $1100 isn't much of a stretch? I still remember being at C3 and watching all the money people were dropping. I thought I was spending a bunch but I wasn't even a drop in the bucket compared to what some folks were spending. Nutty stuff.
