Watto's Junk Yard / So how many times have you seen it?
« on: May 23, 2005, 12:54 AM »
Revenge of the Sith, that is.  I'm up to three times.

They definitely fall into the "odd and unique" portion of my collection.  I am impressed at how these cars have gotten more detailed over the years as well.

I just wish they had some that were strictly OT themed.  Oh well, perhaps if this SW 3D project hits theaters they'll do them.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: "Obi-Wan once thought like you do."
« on: May 22, 2005, 02:38 AM »
I think it could be inferred.  When they were Duelling, Obi-Wan apologizes to Anakin saying that he failed him.

Also, once Obi-Wan has the high-ground he tries to get Anakin to stop, if Anakin did stop, there might've been a chance for him to be redeemed then.  Of course Anakin was blinded by hate at that point and his rage wouldn't let him stop the fight.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Hands up! or down....
« on: May 21, 2005, 11:35 PM »
They could've originally shot the scene with Vader's hands up, realized it looked kinda stupid, and re-shot it with his hands down.

When they made the trailer, they could've just used the earlier footage by mistake.  If you watch the trailer for AOTC that you could access with the TPM dvd, they used a differen't "ANAKIN!  HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I TOLD YOU?!" clip of Obi-Wan, which I thought was better done than what they used in the movie.

I'm still sticking with Anakin is the chosen one, created by the Force and not Palpatine/Sidious.

If Sidious had such control over the force to the point of creating Anakin, then he could've also created him to be completely obedient...then Vader wouldn't have killed him in ROTJ.

I ordered them from the Hasblo website, and sometime in the 10 days it took those morons to process my order, they became "Unavailable"

I picked them up today at TRU and I am very impressed.  The clothing is well done and both figures are very detailed!

One odd thing is that they have no feet inside their boots!  :o

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Post your ROTS reviews and thoughts!
« on: May 19, 2005, 05:25 PM »
I think I'm one of (if not the) first person to stay relatively spoiler free for this film.  So now on to my review:

I thought it was great!  The characters showed more emotion and range than in the previous movies (my biggest complaint for the PT has been Lucas' strentgh is not in directing), and they played their roles well.

The story added a lot more depth the Vader's character in the OT.  When I first watched SW, Vader was just this pure evil guy.  After watching ROTS, he's a self hating tragic hero, now well into a downward spiral that will take him 20 years to pull himself out of and redeem himself.  I too sort of cringed ant the Frankenstienesque way he got off of the operating table, but I thought he would stumble a little since he's got legs he's never walked on...although the breaking the chains part I could've done without.

Jokafobe, you'd be amazed by what people in the armed forces do during combat situations.  I thought the joking banter was actually well done here.  They've been fighting this war for about 3 years according to the  timeline of the movies, and all the combat would sort of make them jaded, and hence the joking-type banter.

I think the only things I would change are show a little more about the formation of the rebellion...I was kind of suprised Mon Mothma was not in the movie at all.  I'd also would've liked to have seen Qui-Gon, possibly appearing in front of the Jedi Temple to try and stop Anakin, or appearing to Obi-Wan around the end of the Duel or on the Tantive IV when Yoda explained he found a way back.  Minor gripes, but I think they might've added that something special.

From reading the rest of your reviews so far, I'm glad I stayed away from spoilers.  Seeing as it is probably the last SW film, it was nice to be suprised.

oh my god that movie is so bad it slapped me in the face with the dvd box. THat was the worst piece of crap ever made.

The Star Wars Holiday Special was the worst piece of crap ever made.  ;)

True....but Fifth Elemen was a close second!  We're talking photo-finish here!

So what has Natalie Portman shaved her head?  Is it for some recent movie role where she gets lice like Sigourne Weaver in Alien 3?

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: **** UPN- 'Enterprise' cancelled.

I honestly think Star Trek really hurt Sci Fi on Tv as a whole.  The writing for that show has never been all that great...even in the original series.

I respectufully dissagree.

I don't mind that you disagree with me Anton, but you have to admit that the only reason Voyager stayed on the air is because it had the name Star Trek at thr front of it.  It just bothers me that crap like that show (and from what I've read about various forums, the first couple of seasons of Enterprise) get picked up when shows like Babylon 5 had to struggle for each season and B5 Crusade never even got a chance at a full season!  After listening to J. M. Straczynski's commentary about Crusade, we all got jipped out of a great series!

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Playstation3 revealed.

Good question Bill.

Although all these consoles are impressive.  I really have no desire to own them.  How long has the X-Box and PS2 been on the market?  And now you have to purchase a whole new system?  Granted, the $300 or so you spend on a console is far cheaper than spending $1,500 to $2,000 on a new PC, but I still can't justify purchasing a new console when I have a kickass desktop and laptop to work with.

I'm not knocking consoles at all....they're just not for me.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: No immediate plans to see Ep. III?

I'm going to the midnight show, but my best friend has a lot of comittments with work, lots of travelling n stuff, and he won't be able to see it for two or three weeks either.

I suggested he try to sneak away during part of his trip to catch it, but his wife won't allow him to see it unless she's there too! ;D
