What's being listed as "Wave 8" pre-orders are up at EE...
Vintage Wave 8 (http://www.entertainmentearth.com/aff-home.asp?id=JE-405087801&number=HS97568H)
Vintage Wave 8 Rev. 1 (http://www.entertainmentearth.com/aff-home.asp?id=JE-405087801&number=HS97568H1)
Doesn't seem to jive with the "Wave 8 (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=21336.0)" figures we've been talking about though, and seems instead to be the Revenge carded guys.
-
Weird. Frustrating with no pictures.
-
Well, pics or not, it's a pretty clear indicator that (for whatever reason), waves have now leapfrogged. Perhaps this is Hasbros' way of putting out this stuff while the action figure aisle is filled with competition for the film lines for the Summer, and the original Wave 8 stuff will file in as the Summer's winding down some?

Until we have more info, I'm not going to worry about it. It could be one of those cases where EE is calling this remix box "Wave 8", but Hasbro is calling it Wave 7.5 or whatever.
When you look at the gap in figure numbers (from #55 Logray to #62 Endor Han), it's clear that "real" Wave 8 is still coming sometime... maybe they just pushed these recarded boxes ahead for $$ reasons. Maybe the boxes with Aayla/Evazan will be "Wave 8, Revision 2" or whatever. No one knows...
-
It could wind up being a lot of stuff dumped at one time too... Which would kind of suck considering Scott mentioning his store cutting back pegspace as it is.
I forget, and maybe you'll remember it Jeff, but did Hasbro say the "Revenge" cards would be limited, or were they just going to be distributed like normal?

the plan was for them to be like the Vintage Wave 2 foil stuff...
The "Revenge" card figures themselves will be pretty much the same as the usual UGH idea, like the foil cards last year. The single cards will be mixed into the cases 2-3 at a time - hard to find, but not impossible to find.
-
Hmmm, I wonder then if these will ship relatively heavily then for a while. I saw tons of those foil carded figures.
-
The Wave 2 comparison I was making is for the case pack plan (having 2-4 Revenge cards in each case spread out over multiple cases/waves), not a comparison for the overall number of cases being shipping.
I doubt these cases ship as heavily as Wave 2 cases did simply because that was wave 2 of a new line with a ton of orders and this is not.
-
What will be interesting is that since these don't have any blatant indicators (foil stamping) that these are "special" I wonder if they'll be easily passed over by the scalper type or the casual SW collector?
-
Yeah that's partly why I'm wondering about it... The foil stuff was at the kick off of the line... This isn't. Will it be easy to find, or will these wind up getting shafted a ltitle bit because of some distribution issue when they wind up shipping?
I'm thinking a lot will pass on them, but resellers tend to be savy about what's coming up so I don't think they'll miss the difference as much as the casual folks... And since some of them seem like more collector-targeted figures (Slave Leia), I think those may wind up being easier to get... depending on how many cases of the Revenge cards ultimately wind up getting out of course.
And now I'm just wondering if these will hit before the original Wave 8 will, or after, or at the same time for whatever reason.
-
And the Endor han is just the same Endor Han we've had for a while right?
-
Aside from some maybe minor deco changes due to the time that has passed between versions, yes - Endor Han (and the rest of the "Revenge" figures) should, according to Hasbro, all be repacks*.
(*with the exception that there may or may not be a head swap on the Endor Rebel - the jury is still out on that one. Yes, the SDCC mock-up showed a new head, but Hasbro cautioned that was just a mock-up and not final.)
-
Endor Han could, feasibly, be the Battlepack version too, with a coat, on a card... It had a better headsculpt as I recall? Not so pin-heady, and the likeness seemed better. I'd actually probably pick him up, if that were the case, as I'd like a coat and non-coat version of that headsculpt on my shelves. Hell, if they weren't so expensive I'd probably buy 2 because one at a Home One set-up with the pilots would be cool too. I liked that sculpt a lot.
I'm betting that won't be who we get though.

I see BBTS is calling this "Series 5.2 (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=HAS20442&mode=retail)", which meshes with what Hasbro said at Toy Fair - that these "Revenge" figures would be part of "2011 Wave 5" (http://www.jedidefender.com/gallery/files/gallery/Conventions/Toy_Fair_2011/Hasbro_Star_Wars/Collector_Presentation/Slide24.JPG) (or what we were calling Vintage Wave 9).
I guess that's a good indication that Wave 9 (or at least the Revenge repacks) may make it out to stores before Wave 8 (and maybe even the first part of Wave 9).
So yeah, it's all clear as mud now: Hasbro 2011 Wave 5.2 = Jedidefender Vintage Wave 9.5 = EE Vintage Wave 8. :-X
-
I'm officially dizzy after your explanation there. :-* ;D
-
I wonder then if the figures we're getting on Revenge cards will also come on Return cards.
-

If you look at the Blue Ray DVD set pack they are indeed using the superior BP Endor Han with the better head sculpt, they just added the coat back so I think this will be the case for the single carded version. I hope that is the case as I would love to update the 2006 carded one on my wall that has the better sculpt.
-
It's odd that the twelfth Revenge figure (Ackbar) isn't listed in either of those cases.
This is completely baseless speculation but I wonder if that means it got axed and exchanged with a different figure (Gamorrean?) that won't be ready with the rest of them.

Only a question guys, about these waves
And forgive me if I skip the trend a little
I have the Darth Vader from tlc
I havenīt bought the vintage style 3 pieces helmet update
As I looked on teh web all this time...
It seems that the only wave to remove the collar (the 3dr piece) is to
first remove the head.
So some reviews tell this instructions
remove head
separate collar
reinsert head without collar.
Is it the way this proceed or there is another way to remove the collar
without separating Vaderīs head?
Thanks in advance
-
According to Adam Pawlus, this wave has been delayed until October... so it seems as if we're in for yet another without new stuff shipping out. ::)
-
Wait a minute. They ship new stuff? You wouldn't know it from my stores. I still see the same thing since last November.

Question is since this wave and its revisions kick off the "Revenge" recards, what about the SDCC box set?

That makes sense. If the "Revenge Of The Jedi" wave were to make it to market before SDCC, then couldn't that potentially hurt the sales of the "Revenge Of The Jedi" SDCC box set?

I'm sure the delay has everything to do with adjusting to the retail situation and little to do with making sure the SDCC set sells.
-
I think sales of the SDCC set have to factor in to some degree. Especially since Hasbro has taken to offering the SDCC exclusives online in addition to at the event. That's got to impact the production numbers to an extent. But I agree that the situation at retail has been pretty rough and Hasbro is probably taking the opportunity to regroup. It's really hit or miss as to whether or not you can find anything current in the stores.
-
Mostly miss.
-
So I'm a little confused about this "Revenge" subline - is it being released as a standard TVC wave? I had thought at first that it was a SDCC exclusive that was also going to be released in stores as a chase assortment, of sorts.
-
They will all (12) be released at retail similar to how the silver foil figures were (3 or 4 per case rev.), the difference is that at SDCC, there will be 2 additional mini carded figures (Salacious Crumb and Mouse Droid) only available in the Death Star boxed set.
-
Do we have a price tag yet on what the SDCC set will cost? These are all repacks as far as we know, right?

Blu Ray set pack? What exactly is that? I must have missed it...

I can't imagine it costing less than $100.

There is some questions regarding the sculpt used for Han and it appears we are getting a black Rebel Commando (http://www.rebelscum.com/tf2011/Hasbro_Star_Wars/image145.asp), but the rest appear to be repacks.
-
Ugh. I might have to get one of these. Thanks Jay!
-
This black rebel commando got the necessary changes to a decent tvc variation
-comes with a beige trench coat, instead of the green from the bald white guy.
-His head looks different from the saga 2006 short black guy
Only hope sculptors have corrected the posture of the tvc white guy, which looks kinda hunchback without his coat and backpack. I understand this posture is motivated to attach these accesories, but must ne improved if Hasbro pretends to reissue this mold.
-
Thanks Jayson.
