Wowsers.
-
Crap, I was hoping the RC pack would be a wallet-friendly Target BP. Looks like it'll be a $40 EE pack. Marvel Comic Packs sound sweet, I'll defintly pick up the Tarkin/Stormtrooper pack. Hope they aren't too pricey.
-
Very cool. I will be buying that. ;D
-
It's cool that they're painting up the rest, but it's not cool that I'm going to have two Scorches...
-
I'm totally buying that!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Then go buy it, it's already for sale. You can even get a deal here with some extra stuff (http://shop.starwars.com/catalog/product.xml?product_id=405413) ;)
-
This set is perfect! Hasbro hit the nail on the head with this. Clone Troopers and bugs for them to shoot all in one set. I definately hope to purchase this item, but I hope EE/SWS/HTS don't charge $50+ for this.
-
its $45 with shipping.
-
Notice that they spelled "Commandos" as "Commandoes" and also "2007 Sneak Peek" as "2007 Sneak Peak".
It's a sad state of affairs when you have a glaringly obvious typo for the world to see...
-
Aw, now, spelling doesn't really matter much? After all, who really cares? ;)

I can't believe they are up for order already. I ordered mine. Any other sets up for pre-order?

That's infuriating, I paid about $40.00 shipped JUST for the Super exclusive Lucas set and now I can get that plus 7 figures for about 10 bucks more?
I'm getting tired of Hasbro yanking us around with the exclusives and the non predictable availability and the re-releases.
Which sucks, because when new figures come out I love it, but I don't like it when this kind of stuff happens.
I'm starting to seriously contemplate scalling back my collecting, a lot.
-
Yup, and I wouldn't blame you a bit. I'm already thinking that way between that stunt, the temporary reduction that most people probably didn't get a refund on or even know about and then the comic con stunt today [/fanboy rant].
I love the 3.75" stuff, it's still the core of my collection but it's to the point where with crap like this happening I'm happier to send my money to Gentle Giant, Sideshow, Medicom and the like. I've had a hard time for the past several weeks even looking into the new 2007 forum here at JD simply because it looks like they (Hasbro) are just trying to glut the market as fast as they can before the memory of the movies is replaced by something else. Not an unreasonable approach I suppose, but frustrating ultimately.
As I posted in the 2006 Lucas family thread I get the formerly $35 (plus shipping) set for $15 now. I can throw Zett away since I already have him from the basic line and still only pay a hair over $5 for each of the other Lucas clan. Perfectly reasonable to me, but they sure burned a lot of folks on that.

Rob, I think they just couldn't sell all of the Lucas sets they wanted to. I, for one, just didn't have any interest, partially because I already had Jett.
-
Well, I grabbed my set from EE.
I love the colors of the Delta Clones and I can always use more Geonosians. :)
-
That set is SO mine. I can finally end the hunt for a TSC Scorch! :)

I am guessing that was the case, and a good thing too. I was hemming and hawwing over I wanted to buy the Lucas set. Add it up with the Republic Commando 7 pack and it's a great deal. 11 figures for $50 + shipping, not so bad , I just might order it now...
-
To say that I am extremely enthused about a non-CW cartoon related EU item for the first time ever is a true understatement. I am sooooo looking forward to this set. I can do without that Deluxe Geonosian, but Delta Squad? WOO HOO!
Can anybody at the Con (or with a good eye in the photos) tell what the third Geonosian is comprised of? He almost looks like Sun Fac with a new head and torso, repainted, but I can't tell for sure. Still, four Commandos, two SA Geonosians, and one crappy Geonosian is pretty cool, and more than I had anticipated.
-
Yes ;D
Now can we get an all white Squad?
-

Yay for patience! I couldn't see forking over $35 for that Lucas set, now I can get both for $50. Good for me. (I'm probably the only one who gets to say that here...)
-
Yes ;D

Should be Omega squad, then a white army builder set.
I will pick this set up, too bad these don't have knees though.

Not at all. $35 for 3 new figures and one ****** repack was way too much money. Now I can get it all together. Although I feel sorry for the people who plucked down the cash to get it back in April...
-
Here's my question...
Go with EE and be assured my order is safe, or go with SWS.com and not sleep for the next few months wondering what my order is going to be and what the status of it really is.
To say that I am extremely enthused about a non-CW cartoon related EU item for the first time ever is a true understatement.
You're forgetting about a lot of figures in that post... a lot of my favorite figures. 8)
-
I'll pick it up at EE, unless one of SWS's sets ships with a Shadow Stormie.
-
I'm definetly getting this! The game rocked, and now we're finally getting the rest of the squad! ;D
-
That set is SO mine. I can finally end the hunt for a TSC Scorch! :)
Same here, I've never seen a Scorch.
-
Ooh. If I end up buying this, i'll definately take a Baron Papa and his oversized daughters for a ten. 8)
-
This is great set and I'm glad it's going to make so many of you happy. :D
-
Agreed, Anton. Since I didn't buy the Lucas set because I felt it would eventually clearance(no clones) I guess now would be a good time to order both ;D
-
This set is a nice surprise! I ordered 2 sets from EE due to the fact that my orders always arrive in minty-mint condition. Scorch is now officially waiting for his buddies........
-

Nope, I just opted to not rub it in ;)
-
I may wait for EE to put the set up with either the Carnor Jax/ Kir Kanos set or the Astro Droid sets.

Is it up on the site yet, or did you order from Comic-con?
-
I pre-ordered mine from the fan club - threw in the Lucas set for an extra $16.
-

It is up on EE's site. Like I was mentioning, I have never had a bad experience with those guys.
-
I ordered 2 from Starwarsshop.com, hopefully they will do a good jobagain. So far I have been happy with their service and timing. Everything I ordered from there has been perfect.
The Lucas set for $16 is a good deal. I am sorry I paid the $25 for it. Its apparently cancer, no one wants it. It will finally move with the bundle sets.
I did not even bother to open mine, maybe I will.....
I want more of those sun fac repaint warriors they rock!
-
Well I don't care what some folks say, my only complaint about the set is that they still lack knee joints...
But "Why?" you may ask... Well let me say why.
Because Hasbro's shorting articulation on 4 of the most action-packed Clones ever (if you played the game or read the books). Because any Clone (dare I say any army builder as well) lacking knee articulation in 2006 is sort of ****** on Hasbro's part... Deal breaker? Not really... But if there's one thing I've learned in life, career, and just about any other facet of existance, it's that you don't "improve" without problems being brought up for addressing.
People complained about the knees when the first figure came out, and it was the only real complaint aside from a better paintjob (I can't fault Hasbro for that though, they're production pieces not works of art), and articulation on Clones shouldn't fall short of the standard they set. They know they'll sell shitloads of these and hell they could've even used the articulated legs of the CW SA Clone, the ROTS #41 Clone, the ROTS Clone Commander, or any of the 3 Evolutions Clones, and minimal tooling for new parts in the process.
Anyway it is the single craptacular aspect of the set. I like the set, and the price is as right as if Bob Barker himself had told us what it was... The leg articulation was excuseless on the first figure though and the point stands on the battlepack as well. Just articulate the things and make people happy... People didn't like Bacara because of his articulation, so why would it be cool on the Clone Commandoes? Blah.
-
I don't understand the articulation issue either. Escpecially when HASBRO knew that they'd be getting four figs from one sclupt.
-
People didn't like Bacara because of his articulation, so why would it be cool on the Clone Commandoes? Blah.
Well, the thing that was even worse about Bacara was that he had no knee articulation, and his legs were NOT pre-posed. They were just straight. The RC's legs are pre-posed. Bacara was a horrible figure because he was in a single stance that was stupid. And the RC's are in a single stance that's actually okay.
-

Good question. I wonder if it has anything to with EU discrimination?

You know, some people like neutrally posed figures. ::)

Yep, that's it Anthony

That's true, but a lot of people don't. I'm one of those people. :(

What ruined Bacara you all may be forgeting is the action feature, action feature = no knees, besides the QD Clones. ::)
-
Not true... His feature is no different than the #6 Clone, who had borderline SA. Other figures in the ROTS line had action features but had articulation yet as well. It was just a lack of good design on Bacara... Hell he has ankle joints but no knees. Give his knees the ankle articulation, and leave the ankles neutral, and you can get the figure in better poses or neutral ones.
For my $$$, articulation will always win over pre-posed sculpts, however I also prefer a neutral pose when there's no articulation as well. When the articulation's gone I like at least for the figure to stand straight and tall. The neutral pose of a sculpt still allows a LITTLE posing while pre-posed ankles, knees, etc., generally limit it further, or so's been my experiences with the line.
And not just four sculpts could've been milked out of the COmmandoes... There's black ones, all white pre-deco ones, etc... There's a number of repaints beyond the original 4 from the RC game and original novel are available to Hasbro. I'm sure this is one of those issues they don't care about with this figure at this point, but it's still an issue to me... It's an issue in the modern line overall that Hasbro still articulates some of its figures like it's 1985 instead of 2006. I think if a ball/socket is too pricey they can always bust out the pin-swivel joints again or something less costly in the figure's production process even. To me though figures need knees, elbows, and wrists in this day and age. Time to jump into the... well hell even the 15 years of the 20th Century, much less the 21st Century. :)
-
I vote in this order:
(1) Super Articulation (YES!)
(2) Neutral Pose (yawn)
(3) Pre-posed (BOOOOOOOOO!)
This figure is so close though... they've got to just suck it up and knock out a couple new legs for these guys, with ball joints.
-
Pin-Swivel joints on legs? Yea..that Rebel Fleet Trooper should've been the model for all figures to come. If only Hasbro...if only. ;)
-
These are going to be up for pre-order at NFC as well. Under $30 a piece, 2 for $50. Good deal. As soon as they go up, I'm going to dump my EE order.
-
These are already up for preorder on MostWantedCollectibles.com $29.99
Clicky (http://www.mostwantedcollectibles.com/republic-commando-action-figure-scene-pack-7-pieces-p-852.html)

Wow! They take paypal! :o :) :) :) :D
I am pleased!

Those are angle-cut joints pioneered, and ultimately abandoned, by 21st Cent. Toys... Pin-Swivels are like on Padme DFC, Padme Naboo Pilot, Saga Luke Jabba's Palace... A hinge pin with a swivel for the boot top.

Oh my mistake.
I guess that's a little bit better. ;)
-
Maybe I'll wait and see how the repackage these with something new . . . . .
Still out. Not a huge commando fan and I just don't know. I'll have to think about it.
-
Are we likely to get these in different flavors? I haven't really been into the Rep Comm, books or game, but from a search on wookpedia there seems to be all sorts of Commandoes mentioned. I know omega and delta seem to be the most mentioned. Thoughts?
-
I can't imagine Hasbro doesn't realize that a set of black decoed or pre-deco (white) ones wouldn't do well... Scorch's ability to sell has to have registered with the folks running the show, so I'd expect the repaints to come down the pipe.
Beyond the knee joints I'm actually into the figure... I loved the game, the books are decent really, and the boxed set (for the price) isn't bad at all. I'd take some more if the price is fair though.
-
Plain White repaints would rock. I would love those platoons that were deployed by the Jedi as standard troops when they were unaware of their abilities.
With all the repaints we get I think the cances are good. I agree with the kness, it would be nice if they refresh the legs.
-
These are now up for pre-order at NewForce (http://www.newforcecomics.com)
$27.99 for one ($8 shipping)
$51.99 for two ($10 shipping)
The usual NewForce disclaimer applies... but they are substantially cheaper than other places!

As far as I know the main colors are black & white, Delta had the only known different color armor.

It Hasbro taught us anything with their use of Clone #41 and the jedi starfighters is that where there is a mold there is a color variant in the future. Movie/EU accurate or not they will paint **** up just for *****, giggles and money.
-
Hunter of the Pegs, I said white. :P

Hunter of the Pegs, I said white. :P
You said white armor color. I mentioned the White Squad (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/White_Squad).
-
You got me. :P
-
EE have new-ish pics up.
-
Apparently Brian's Toys is shipping these, a couple folks on Rebelscum have actually received them and have posted pics!
I pre-ordered mine from SWShop...sure would make a nice Christmas present, but they still show it as shipping in January :(
-
I saw that...
Am I the only one disappointed in the lack of gun attachments? Maybe it's my addiction to the game, but that just seemed a gross oversight, especially considering the gun accessory was made modular...
The articulation still bugs me, but the price on this set made up for that for once. These, even online, came to less than buying the same # of figures at basic retail. That's just sad on many levels.
-
i just might need this set. i like that they are reusing that great sun fac fig and i hope it means we will see it a lot in years to come. i'd love an army of these.
i like the idea on SWS of shipping this set with the lucas family set. i already have my lucas set but would love a second for opening. the figs inside look awesome!
-
Apparently Brian's Toys is shipping these,
Doesn't Brian's toys have more direct shipper than Hasbro?
-
Dosen't Sev have a sniper rifle? :-\
-
Dosen't Sev have a sniper rifle? :-\
According to Hasbro, Sev will be repacked with a accurate sniper rifle as a Target Exclusive.
$17.99
Spring '07
:P

That's too funny Reid. Most likely because it will happen.

I scored this set today. And just an FYI to the staff, this set is in fact in TSC packaging.
You may actually be able to score this at local retail. The place I got mine from today is an independent collectibles shop that has a direct account with Hasbro. If you have a similar kind of shop near you it might be available at a brick and mortar location.
It looks awesome so far. The paintjobs on both the Commandoes and the Geonosians look great! I can't wait to open this up.

very good to know. i have plenty of stores like that in my area. thanks, nicklab :)

Absolutely, especially if it's available through Diamond Direct.

I believe that the Republic Commando set MAY be available through Diamond, but there are also some scattered independent stores that have direct accounts with Hasbro. That was the case with the store where I got my Republic Commando set. And in contrast to that I have yet to see the Republic Commando set at any Diamond distributed comic shops to date.
-
Well, it looks as if this is now IN STOCK at Entertainment Earth. Here's to hoping I'll get mine before the beginning of the new year from them.
-
Of course I don't have any near me. ::)
-
just got mine from Brian's toys today and the toy is great! The paint job on all of the figs are great and looks like it's the best exclusive of 06. If you haven't ordered it yet do it! It's definitely worth 40$, and if you want it fast just go to Brains Toys they get it out to you relay fast, and i even used regular shipping! ;D, So if you don't have it get it!
-
NFC received theirs as well, so I should have mine in the near future.
-
Got my email from New Force Comics... mine are scheduled to arrive on Dec 26. Merry Belated Christmas!
-
Same here, but mine are scheduled for the 28th. :P
-
I guess I am lucky cause mine is schedule for tomorrow. Booyaa ;D

I got my RC 7Pack today! It's freaking awesome! I never bought any "bugs" so it's totally cool that this pack comes with 3 of them!
-
My only hope is that someday FIxer,Sev, and Delta Three-Eight make their way to a carded figures. I would say Sev leaves the other 3 in dust ( and that is saying a lot when you think about Scorch) He just looks like a real bad ass. I would give the pack 8-10 ( if they would not have included those Geo dudes) it would be a 10!!! )
-
Sometimes I miss certain details, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that one of the "bugs" was a Sun Fac repaint which IMO is an outstanding sculpt.
Great set.
-
this set looks pretty cool..makes me wish i had a x box to play the game.
-
You could always get the game for PC. That's what I did.
-
i would get it for PC..but my video card isnt good enough to run the game. and im not willing to spend a lot of money for a video card that may not even fit in my computer tower. (its a dirty IBM model >:( that cannot be customized). which is why im just waiting for the X box to get cheap and then ill just buy it..and borrow the game from a friend of mine :)
-
Fair enough.
-
Received my sets from EE. Other than the lack of knee articulation, they look badass! :)
-
I got mine today.... sure is bad-ass-looking ;D,
but a shame that they don't have multiple weapons like in the game and those knee's are still not funny.... >:(
