The Original Trilogy / Happy Birthday Star Wars
« on: May 25, 2012, 08:34 AM »
The greatest movie of ALL time was released 35 years ago today, May 25th 1977!

Other Toy Lines / Tron Legacy Toys

I didn't see a thread for this, if there is one, my apologies. While the movies looks absolutely Fantastic, these figs look bad. Nowhere near as cool as I hoped for. While there are three sizes of figs, the regular 3.34, 6-8" and a large size figure, the light-up and voice effects of the two larger sizes is rather cool. Though the gimmick is limited by just a few phrases. They are made by spinmasters who made the Last Airbender figs and those were absolutely horrid.
They also have a series of diecaast vehicles, toy vehicles for the figures, a regular and deluxe 'data frisbee' thingy LOL.
While I hope the movie does great at the box office, the toys will not sell well and are a little overpriced. If they go clearance, I may pick up a few.

Vintage Kenner / Original Vintage I have found
« on: March 15, 2005, 05:42 PM »
Well, I've been going through my parent's attic getting my old star wars stuff plus other toys I've collected over the years.
I have found my original Falcon, slave 1, tie fighter, death star, numerous figures, Vader carry case, the tatooine and hoth plastic play bases, twin pod cloud car, 12" vader, 3p0, r2, boba fett, plus a couple books, the iron-on book of t-shirt transfers.
Most of it is in decent condition albeit dirty. The falcon is pretty dingy and the top is wapred due to being crammed in the box - yes I still have the box for it and the DS - for almost 20 years!
I doubt it's worth much except for sentimental value. Just wanted to share. I would like to get around to taking some photos of my Grand Old Collection.

Toy Reviews / WAlmart exclusive ANH figure pack
« on: November 17, 2004, 04:25 PM »
Picked up the wlamart ANH 4 figure dvd pack with Luke, obi-wan, R2 and C-3P0.
Now I'm not sure which waves these are from, so I'll just describe them as they are.
Luke is pretty good, not great but good enough for my kid. He has articulation at the neck, shoulders, elbows, waist, hips and knees.
The wasy his legs are posed, they are close together so it takes a little effort to get him to stand ok on his own.
His lightsaber as well as Obi-wans' had a clear rubber band holding them on. Luke can hold his lightsaber ineither hand. His paints are neat and no noticable mistakes are visible.  I give him 3 outta 5
Obi-Wan kenobi is an OK figure, not great. His pose is limited by his design. He has articulation at the neck, shoulders, elbows, and waist. He has a solid lower robe so his legs are not really posable. The paint job is fairly good, he has a slight dusty brown wash on his robes. He comes with both a lit lightsaber and unlit one that can attach to his belt.  Nothing special though, 2.5 outta five.
C-3P0 is pretty good though he has very minimal articulation. His finish is from the Tatooine encounter with the Sand People. He does have a removable left arm at the shoulder.  Only thing I don't like is his face: it's too narrow compared to the real version.  But overall I give him 3 outta 5.
Our favorite little droid R2-D2, is a good one. He has a nice clean finish, no paints 'Ooops' , has a nice shiney dome. The keeper is the retractable third leg so he can stand either on two or three legs. I give him 4.5 outta 5.

Toy Reviews / Dagobah R2-D2
« on: October 19, 2004, 04:53 PM »
Didn't see a review of this one, so hope it's not a duplicate.
This is one cool version of the droid. Got him for my kid so you know it's for playing with. The design is pretty good as far as the sculpting goes. The sound fx are fun, press and hold for the 'Scream' or press slightly for various R2 sounds. Very cool.
The mud wash is pretty extensive so he does look like he's been dumped in a swamp. Only minor critique is the soft rubber legs.
Over all I give him a 4 outta 5 stars.  :)

The Original Trilogy / SW is 27 today
« on: May 25, 2004, 01:09 PM »
Several readers reminded us that Star Wars turns 27 today. On May 25, 1977, Star Wars was released and the saga began. Some things never change though. The crowds still show up on opening day for Star Wars at Grauman's Chinese Theater.  :) :) :)

Fan Art / Rebel/Imperial insignias
« on: May 20, 2004, 12:28 PM »
I am looking for decent sized images of the Rebel Alliance and Imperial insignias to use in some fan art I have in mind.  Prefereably, what I'd like would be big enough to add to an 8x10 sized imaged. most images I've found are way too small to use that big. Any assistance would be hot.
 ;)

Fan Art / Fan Fiction
« on: January 27, 2004, 04:46 PM »
Wasn't exactly sure where to post this. I remember last year a group of people here, including myself were going to write a Clone Wars story. Only a little done with it at the time.
I continue to write SW fan fiction and have recently started a new short story based on a mission with an ARC trooper squad.  If there is any interest I can post it here. Also if the story we started last year is still in the works, I'd be interested.

thanks :)

Other Toy Lines / Cat in the Hat movie toys
« on: August 10, 2003, 12:26 PM »
I saw this past week at a Target the new Cat inthe HAt movie toys. They have a couple 10" or 12" Cats, with a very good likeness of Mike Meyers. They have some roughly 4" figures and some small minis in a multi-pack. They look very cool but pricey at around $8.

Saga '02-'04 / Got Jedi Chicks
« on: July 27, 2003, 01:19 AM »
picked up both jedi Aalya Secura and Bariss Offee today. They are pretty cool looking. Yes I do open, they look nice on their dispaly stands. Aalya has more pose options and they both have the multi-use ball socket shoulder joint.  ;D

Modern Trading / Wish list
« on: June 19, 2003, 07:24 PM »
I can rarely find anything, especially the last few months. The last cool thing I found ws 3 or 4 months ago when I found Ephant Mon at Target. I traded him with Dale for a Clone Trooper helmet ;)
What I'm looking for is mostly the figures, I have the ships I want, I don't get into the 12" because I don't have room for them. So without further ado, here's my wish list:
existing Lama Su w/Clone child
   "         Bariss Offee
    "        Anakin Skywalker Secret Ceremony
    "       Aayla Secura
   "        Anakin w/Speeder bike
Upcoming CLone Trooper 3 pack
Upcoming ARC Trooper
Upcoming Durge
   "         Wat Tambor
"         Geonosian War Room set (pogglre, san hill, Dooku).

I'll add more stuff. usually If I know someone is looking for something and I find it, if I think it'll last, I'll post about it and go get it; if I don't think it'll stay, then I'll go ahead and buy it, like I did for Ephant Mon.
