I have been looking at some ebay auctions and I am noticing some of the collectors from marvelousnews.com are putting these figures up for sale as they are finding them.  That stinks.  Wish they would help out.

I'm getting a little less judgmental about that kind of thing.  It's one thing for basement dwellers who scalp for scalping's sake; but this hobby is getting so damn expensive, I'm no longer as critical about fellow collectors who offset the expense by recouping some of the cost if they get lucky with a find by putting it up on the secondary market.  Fortunately, I never find anything good that I don't need myself, so I haven't been personally confronted with the moral dilemma of what to do in such a situation, but I'm not going to begrudge fellow collectors who occasionally make a buck or two back on eBay.

I came out of retirement for this wave, since I've been waiting for a Nein Numb forever (still pissed about the non-removable vest, but what are ya gonna do?) and decided to pick up the OT guys, plus 2 ERGs.  I'd love to wind up with 6 of them somehow, but I'm not holding my breath.

Man, that may even be an understatement.  Harry Potter was ambitious, but it's essentially just a long series.  Marvel's been able to do multiple stand alone movies that perform well, and then dovetail into the team-up event movie...I can't think of anything like that other than comic-book cross overs.  But certainly, nothing like it has been done in TV or cinema.

Roughly in scale with the vintage line.  Closer to 5".  Definitely bigger than 3.75".  I don't have them in front of me right now, but I'd guess the Turtles are around 4- 5". In the packages, Shredder looks the biggest. He's close to 5".

These are all over now.  I picked up the four turtles, which is enough for me, but they're really great little figures.  I love the designs on the turtles.  Krang and the Foot Soldier are okay.  Splinter, Shredder, and April...not so much.

But the updates to the main four are pretty sweet.

Maybe I was getting a little hyperbolic with the articulation, but it's good enough (no ankles, but everything else...okay, no wrists either, but still...).  The sculpts are all unique.  They've even got distinct skin texture, different knee-pads, and little details on their shells and, um, whatever turtle fronts are called.

In any event, they're high quality and much heftier than Star Wars figures, at a lower price.

(Lando, your pic is of the bigger scale vintage repros; the ones I got are the ones in smashitwitdaclub's link...and they're really cool).

You spotted the Tarkin wave at a Wal-Mart?  Lucky...

The Wal-Marts in my area have the same 2 figures time and time again: Quinlan-Vos and Battle Droid.  That's it.

I like the new Tarkin figure.  I especially like the pack-in Mouse Droid.

Well, the remnants of it.  They had Tarkin, Wedge, Nikto, and Odd Ball on the pegs (plus a bunch of TPM crap).  It was at a kind of the out-of-the-way Wal Mart (I live in Salt Lake City, UT and it was in Evanston, WY--yes, JediMoses, I was there to buy hard malt liquor, porn, and fireworks, all of which are banned in Utah  >:D  (just kidding, just kidding; just stopped on my way home from Bear Lake)).

I have to say, the Tarkin isn't as bad in person as it looks in pictures.  The color of the outfit is much better, and even the stupid soft goods skirt matches pretty well (though I still think it looks awful).  The flesh color for the head is a little weird, but I figure it's the best Tarkin they'll ever make, so what the hell.  The mouse droid is quite nice, too.

mother**** Hasbro.  I just picked up a set of the new TMNT figures from Playmates for $8.99 each from Target.  Way more plastic, more articulation, more weapons, and a better price point.  If Playmates can put out TMNT figures like that for $8.99, Star Wars guys should be $6.99, tops.

I broke my quitting vow and bought a Tarkin that I saw at Wal Mart.  First retail purchase since January.  They also had Wedge, Odd Ball, and Nikto, plus a ****load of TPM guys.

One other thing that bugged me was how quickly Bruce **** on Alfred over the Rachel letter, and how Alfred let him. Pretty out of character for both of them.

Good points on the timing, and I didn't think about the devolution into anarchy of Gothamites being so different from the way they acted in TDK...

But regarding the ending, I took it less as Batman's retirement and more as maybe a little vacation.  Robin's going to get **** in the Batcave all cleaned up, and in a couple month's Batman will be back.  Something like that makes it a little more palatable.

I knew the Miranda chick would turn out to be Talia for some reason (mostly all the pro-environmental crap she talked about in the early scenes), though I didn't see her being quite the full on villain the way she was.
