30th Anniversary Collection / Re: Target TFU Battle Rancor

Rancors also showed up on Rakata in the Knights Of The Old Republic game.  However I don't think they were indigenous to that planet either.

But regarding the Felucians, I found this image of one at Wookieepedia:

The Mygeeto BP is obvious who is in it. Ki-Adi-Mundi, Bacara, 2 Galactic Marines.

Do we really need more Galactic Marines already?

Well, if it has a softgoods kama like the upcoming Commander Keller or the VTAC Snowtrooper figures, I'd be in for this set.  Because the current kama on the Galactic Marine severely impacts the figure's posability.  Just do a side-by-side of the VTAC Snowtrooper with the Galactic Marine.  It's really a no-brainer move.

Hmmm.  The Hoth set is certainly intriguing.  Especially if Hasbro decides to use the artwork from The Incredible Cross Sections as the basis for the troopers in that set.  But what kind of value would we get for this price point?  In a best case scenario, I would hope for 2 speeder bikes with riders and a VTAC Snowtrooper in this particular pack.

As for the Mygeeto set?  I'm fairly confident that we would get Ki-Adi Mundi in this set along with some Galactic Marines.  But the question marks for me are 2 possible figures for this set:  Commander Bacara and the Tri-Droid or Octuptarra Droid.

Commander Bacara is in SERIOUS need of resculpting.  It was a sub-par figure in 2005, and every other Clone Commander with that helmet that Hasbro has shipped has been equally sub-par.  I would very much like to see the SA Clone or Evolutions Clone retooled into a new Commander Bacara.  Doing that for this battle pack would be an excellent selling point with a collector base that's become rather smart and equally critical on articulation and sculpting.

As for the Tri-Droid or Octuptarra Droid?  It would be a logical inclusion in a Mygeeto battle pack, especially to depict this particular battle.  We don't see that many other droids in our brief glimpse into that battle.  But does Hasbro include a new figure like the Tri-Droid in this battle pack, and potentially impact sales of the basic figure?  I think that's another interesting question.

There's been a lot of confusion regarding Shaak Ti.  Especially since the deleted scene from The Invisible Hand in the REVENGE OF THE SITH DVD shows Grievous killing her.  Since that scene was cut it isn't considered to be part of the canon.

Then there's her possible death scene in the Jedi Temple.  I've seen a still of that, with Anakin entering her chambers while she's seated, and he's preparing to kill her.  That didn't make the DVD.  But I think it might have made it into the novelization of REVENGE OF THE SITH, however I will have to check on that.  But I know for certain that she was in the Jedi Temple at the time of Order 66 in the novelization.

Also, you can see Shaak Ti in the Council chambers in the movie.  However, it's only as a hologram as Yoda meets with the High Council from Kashyyyk.

Was the last Dengar really that bad?

I think it's pretty top-notch.

Agreed.  The one bounty hunter from the Executor scene that really needs revision is Zuckuss.  We've only had the vintage figure from back in the day and the POTF2 figure.  That one is woefully inadequate when lined up with the modern bounty hunters.

Really?  That runs counter to the info that was pulled from the Target computer system.  Although I haven't tried running that DCPI at a store yet.

The Legacy Collection / Re: New Evolution Sets

Saw two of the reissue sets tonight.  It was the Sith set and the Clone to Stormtrooper set.  And those were all the grey variants.  Strange.

I was really impressed with my Obi-Wan when I got around to opening it a couple of days ago.  I don't think I've ever seen as good of a likeness of Alec Guiness.  I just wish I could display it!  As it is I have to wait another year until I get moved and am able to get my collecting room up and fully displayed.

Question for others who have bought this set:  was there any kind of a packet with the antennae for the 2 Clone Troopers?  I wasn't able to find them in my ARC-170 Battle Pack.

If you have yet to buy this book but you've been deterred by the price, then you may be in luck!  I found the Vault today at a Barnes & Noble store for 50% off.  That's a lot of money when the book sells for $85!  Plus if you have a member rewards card at B&N, you get another 10% off.  I didn't have that and the book cost me about $46.

Update!

Debatable

3. Imperial Commander One was done in a different costume

There have been strong rumors of a Commander Praji figure for the ANH wave.  He's an Imperial Officer in the black tunic uniform.  Think that one would suffice for the Imperial Commander?

There's a planogram listed over at the RS forums that mentions some 2-packs.  And that listing assigns 2 pegs to those 2-packs.  It makes me think that the packaging for these 2-packs may have changed.

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: 30AC Wave 8 - Attack of the Clones
« on: December 27, 2007, 11:42 PM »
I finally got around to opening the figures from this wave.  Overall impressions?

___  # 07/55 Clone Trooper (Training Gear) - Pretty cool.  But the way the legs are posed he looks kind of crooked.  The snap on armor is actually cool, and works much better than it did on the 2002/03 SAGA Deluxe Clone Trooper.  It's a really cool figure, but not what I had totally been hoping for.

___  # 07/56 Padme Amidala (Fireside Gown) - I think facially it's one of the better Padme figures.  Overall the figure looks cool, but it's essentially a statue.  Nice, but flawed.

___  # 07/57 Jango Fett (w/ poncho) - WOW!  This figure really impressed me in a big way!  All of the accessories are very good, from the armor, to the helmet, to the holsters, blasters and poncho.  Even the way the poncho is sewn is such that it's hiked up for Jango's right arm to get at his blaster.  It comes across as very "Clint Eastwood" from "The Good, the bad & the ugly".  And the figure itself?  Very nice.  It's a shame that most of the sculpt is hidden under the accessories.  This is the true gem of wave 8.

___  # 07/58 Voolvif Monn (Clone Wars) - This is a decent figure, but compared to some of the other figures in the wave it doesn't measure up.  Especially if you compare it to Jango Fett.

___  # 07/59 Destroyer Droid (with 1/2 shield) - I've been a fan of the Destroyer Droid figures since the first one came out in 1999.  This one seems like the first to REALLY get the look of the droid down pat.  In an ideal world it would be cool to get a transforming one, but the figure is done on too small of a scale to make that practical.  And I see the shield as just gravy.  I would have liked it to be a little more translucent, but I think it was a very cool add-on to the droid.

___  # 07/60 McQuarrie Signature Series - Concept Rebel Trooper - This is the one figure from the wave that I've yet to open.  To be honest, this is one of the McQuarries that I'm the least impressed with.  When I open it I'll post more of a review.
