Saga Collection '06 / Re: Future Waves/Themes
« on: August 31, 2005, 07:32 PM »
How about a Dysfunctional Family wave:

Includes:
- Two-faced No First Name Palpatine
- Shmi, the single mother with no knowledge of the father of her son (battered by Sand People)
- Cliegg Lars, the disabled step-dad
- Anakin (with removable arms and legs and exchangable crispy body and shock effect)
- Owen Lars, Tatooine Assault
- Beru Lars, Tatooine Assault
- Padme Amidala-Skywalker (the battered wife)
- Luke Skywalker (with removable hand and shocking effects)
- Leia Organa (with interrogation droid)

Think Hasbro'd be up for that??

here's the next "Exclusive" Covert Ops Clone Trooper

For some reason, I've got "In the Navy" stuck in my head. Maybe Hasbro should do a Village People Clone Trooper exclusive.

People have mentioned the red on the 501st boots... A little on the dark side, but perhaps it's Jedi blood splatter. Would be pretty gruesome if it were the case. (*evil laugh*)

Hey Hasbro! / Re: Could you possibly make a good Mace Windu?
« on: August 20, 2005, 03:35 PM »
My old action figures (SW, GI Joe) never had action features. I never needed them. I guess I was a kid that had an active imagination. I made the sound effects, and all that, why take that away from the kids??

You should ask Jedijaybird to send you a pic of his custom of this... it is way sweet. Saw it in person.

The Phantom of the Opera (original cast recording),

You mean the actual Broadway one? That's waaaay better than that crap on the motion picture soundtrack. I went to the movie with my wife and friend and they were raving about how good the singing was. I about pucked. It was horrid. They couldn't hit the notes half the time and the Phantom sounded like a wimp, instead of this terrifying thing!! So if anyone wants to by the movie soundtrack, be a friend and intervene and suggest the broadway soundtrack.

Absolutley! I cannot stand the movie (Joel Schumacher should be hung), and I'm really sad to report that Broadway is actually a lot worse.  :'( Its sad to see such a venerable peice go to waste. To me the only real Phantom is Micheal Crawford...but hey, I'm just sayin'.
I'm actually going to see the touring company at the end of this month in Atlanta, do you know if they're any better than the Broadway cast (there's your real terror, the middle aged Christine)?

Actually, I don't know. Haven't had the chance to catch it lately.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Happy for the "Slow Down"?
« on: August 2, 2005, 04:40 PM »
It's nice to have the slow down so I don't spend so much on figures, but I wish I could have got my #50 Ani first, along with the 3 other figures that I really want. Then I could relax and wait for the later shipments. Unfortunately, the later waves are slow to pop up around here in the TCs, or at least on the west side... seems like the east siders get all the good stuff first!

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Best places to buy Ep III action figures
« on: August 2, 2005, 04:35 PM »
Lately, I must say nowhere is a good place for me. Every place I go to has  only Palpatines, Clone Pilots, and Neimoidian Gunners.

JD Sports Forum! / Re: Vroom! Jedidefender NASCAR thread
« on: August 1, 2005, 06:22 PM »
seeing that this thread has become a general racing forum instead of just NASCAR (I enjoy Formula 1 and Champcar), I'll add my 2 cents.

I think Danica is over-hyped just because she is a female and not because of her performance. She's done well at Indy and in Japan, but otherwise she is consistently a mid-packer. Granted, she's a rookie and learning the tracks (except for Milwaukee where she raced twice before in lower leagues. I had high expectations, but she crashed), but she is not deserving of more attention than, say Dan Wheldon. Anyone who's followed her career knows she hasn't won in any form of racing for 8 years!

If the media wants to jump on a female race driver, then they should look at Katherine Legge who's won 3 times this year in Toyota Atlantics (where, incidently Miss Patrick raced for the past 2 years) as a rookie. There's alsoErin Crocker, Leilani Munther (who's a Catherine Zeta-Jones look-alike), or Angelle Sampey, to name a few.

U2- How to Disarm a Nu-cu-lar, er Nuclear, Bomb.

Stinks that I'm going to be out of the country when they come to the Cities of Gemini in September!! I'm going to be missing both them and Coldplay!!!

Anyone in the Twin Cities heard of Golden Chariots of Mars? I work with one the guitarist and they're going to have a show on Aug 9 (Tues) at a club downtown. They're kind of alternative. If interested, PM me for more info.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Harry Potter
« on: August 1, 2005, 04:49 PM »
I enjoyed the book as well. I couldn't put it down towards the end with all that was going on. It was excellent. I can't wait for the final book now and that'll be a few years down the road... sigh. I guess we'll be seeing Goblet this November and most likely Order of the Phoenix before the last one comes out, so that should whet our appetites.

SPOILERS below

I was not surprised that Dumbledore was killed as he was the only wizard Voldemort feared, so getting him out of the way would make it seem that victory for the dark forces was imminent.

But the whole Snape thing being good/bad... you despise him for hating Harry like he does and are trying to guess if he is as good as Dumbledore trusts. Though Dumbledore always seemed to be a step ahead of the game and knew that if Snape were ever approached about helping Voldemort's cause (and I'm sure Dumbledore knew that he would be a probable target) then he was to maintain the facade of being one of the Death Eaters at all costs, even if it meant killing Dumbledore. Perhaps that is why he is angry when Harry faces him? He's being not malicious, but angered that he had to kill the only man who believed he was good. Just my 2 knuts.
