Title: Solo 3.75" Class A Creature/Droid Assortment
Post by: Jeff on February 17, 2018, 07:17 PM
Sounds like the $20 Class A assortment is making a return...  not sure if the package is going to stay TLJ style like here or if it'll get moved to the SOLO packaging?

Good news - Brand new Wampa and Hoth Luke!
Bad news - more Rathtars.  :-X

That Wampa is a piece of work.  Happily add that to my collection, maybe a couple even because THAT Luke with the last one's limbs would make a pretty decent looking Hoth Luke I do believe.

I'm glad to see anything OT these days.  Bring it on.

Hmmm.  Almost everything in that part of the exhibit was in SOLO packaging...except for the Wampa w/ Luke and the Battle on Crait set.  Strange.

All about the Wampa.

Haven't found this locally at all, but I got the Wampa set via Amazon yesterday and it sure is nice. Hard to believe this is the first one since what, the Saga collection (blue cards)? Either way, this is a real nice Wampa, maybe one of the quiet winners for the year. I'd love to see one in vinty box 😉

There was a TAC Battle Pack Wampa. I won't pretend to remember if it was a new sculpt or not

I opened up the Swoop bike with Enfys Nest.  And the design on that Swoop bike is pretty cool!  It looks fast just taking it out of the package.  And the design is absolutely evocative of some classic Ralph McQuarrie and Joe Johnston designs.

The figure is okay.  The plastic for the hands is a little bit of a concern, because I had some difficulty getting the weapon in the hand of Enfys Nest.  I also had a similar issue with Chewbacca, too.

Great, because it never existed.

Alright it did, and it was the Saga one and TRU exclusive, but if you look for it, it was under the very generic name "Hoth Patrol". Instead of  "WAMPA ATTACK" or "The Mutilation of the Wampa by the Coward Luke Skywalker". (Also the 'Scum doesn't even have a photo entry for it.)

How new is the Luke that comes with that Wampa?

Apparently all new. Yeah, they did that Luke twice now in 5 POA. This one has a working holster and the lower part of  his vest is isn't sculpted on like the 2014 figure.

Is this Wampa new? I'm having trouble recalling the last one we got in 3.75 inch form. Or is this basically a 3.75 inch version of the black series Wampa?

It looks new to me... the past ones were super old POTF and then the Ultra one that showed up in that Hoth Battle Pack again later right?

Here's the ones I have:

For a while I had wondered just why Hasbro would make a new Wampa.  As far as I could recall, the Saga Ultra Wampa was pretty good.  Good enough that it merited being reissued in 2007's 30AC line.  But now that I've seen some comparison photos?  This new Wampa seems to have much better articulation than the 2003 version.... which came out 15 years ago.  ::)  And just committing those dates to this post made me groan about that Saga Ultra version of the Wampa being a 15 year old figure!

I'm still trying to figure out which Hoth Han coat color is the most accurate.

Obviously, I was confusing the Black series Wampa with previous 3.75 inch releases. I do find it curious that we got such a nicely articulated creature figure in the 5 POA line, but I''m not complaining. It's great figure.

I got the Wampa last night and love it. I wonder if they considered doing him in a vintage box, or if we'll see one as an exclusive later this year (suddenly realizes how all of this works).

Just got the Wampa/Hoth Luke set for MSRP on Amazon. I've never seen it at retail.

I saw them tonight at a WalMart on my way home from work - and another store I was in the other day had a bunch as well. Either Hasbro shipped this assortment again, or WalMart found their shipment from Hasbro in the back of some shipping container in the warehouse where they accept shipments from China and are just now finally getting it out to their stores...  ;D

They must still be shipping.  I saw more of the Wampa sets, too, as well as Rathtars and the Enfys Nest swoop bike just last night.

Either way, I'm happy to finally grab this one. I figured it was one I'd never see.

Local Walmart’s around me only recently got this assortment, they had not previously received them back in April when SOLO toys came out. Targets have had them since April at various quantities but I don’t think any saw new shipments.

Guess I'm NOT getting the Wampa after all; USPS ruled the package undeliverable to my apartment after Amazon dropped it off to them. Just got a refund and credit from The Zon, but I still hate everything about how they ship packages now.

Managed to find a Wampa over the weekend at Walmart. It actually feels really small in terms of scale, but still a great figure.

Found this assortment at Ross yesterday for $6.99 each. Picked up the Wampa as I had not wanted it at full price and never saw it on clearance. Ross has been killing it lately on clearing out recent stuff
