Don't lose hope yet.  I managed to find the Mygeeto, Droid Factory, Mace's Clones wave (Target).  Still have yet to see the Death Star Trooper set, but managed to get the rest of the DS wave.

It's a Target Exclusive in the US.  The rest of the world got theirs from various dealers, but the shipping comes out to be the same cost in the US.  The booster is the only way it is available through Targets.  Expect some markdowns after Christmas as Target clearances their shelves.  I did break down and get one at full price so as not to miss out, but would like another if the price goes low enough.  Consider it $20 for the booster and $40 for the set and it's not so bad ;)

My wife found the Jabba set at Target and said there were a few left.  No signs of the Wlamart exclusives in store or online still.  I have found plenty of the newest two-pack wave (Endor Leia & Trooper, Luke/Yoda & Obi-Wan, Barada & Weequay) at Targets and Walmarts.

Compared to Warhammer custom painted figures these things are crap. Does anyone paint these things with the detail you see in Warhammer figures?

For prepainted, most of them are not too bad.  Faces always seem to cause them problems.  I have seen some repainted ones that look incredibly better.  What I've seen of the Alliance-Empire set, the Han is more the exception than the rule - they look pretty darn good.

I don't like the weak looking hangar on top.  Don't like the cut corners and notches.  I'm an opener so it will not affect my collection, but hunting for these all year will hurt the eyes.  I also think celebrating 30 years of Star Wars should be done with something that looks like it belongs in the SW universe - this design does not.  It may be great for a designer with different elements ("distressed architecture"???? "ownable shape"????) and what not - not my field - but it doesn't seem appropriate for the target audience and marketing of the product.

So it looks like the COTF set isn't hitting retail stores (like Target) like the previous sets did?  Or are they just selling out real quick everywhere?  I guess I'm not so worried about jumping on COTF so quickly since it's so EU heavy, which isn't really my thing.  I'll get 'em eventually, but probably not for a little while still...

Walmart.com is listing them instock ($10) and Target ($13) shows release date of 7/25.  I had heard the big boxes will be a month or more behind for all the rest of the sets, too.  Only the gaming stores got them for the regular release.  Can't get unopened cases from the big guys either.

GameOutfitter still have the best price on cases for these things?

IconUSA - $90, GameOutfitter - $95, CoolStuffInc - $95,  CCGArmory - $97, GatheringGround - $110  (these are the main ones I know of online - sorry if I missed someone's favorite)

These prices, as of today, are for single cases and don't include shipping.

I'm late to the conversation, but I do like the line.  Anxiously looking forward to finding the Hoth sets.  This line pretty much replaced my 12" collecting habits.  I like the fact they take up little space and have some articulation.  The poses and paint jobs are good enough for the price.  I think the multiple poses of the generics display nicely versus the same figure with articulation like in the 3.75" line.  They are a nice in-between size for the minis and action figures.  Never got into the 7" unleashed, save a few, but like the lower costed little ones.

Amazing.  Looks dead on for the movies.  Can't come up with better words than have been listed already.  Just curious, how long did you work on that?  It rivals anything I saw at C2 or C3.  And even has the Tonnika twins.

I do still like the distribution method - it is great for out of the box play.  I opened my two cases and got the exact same Rs and VRs in both.  Rather disappointing, but I guess it encourages trading.  Should have the dupes ironed out in the next couple days and have close to a full set with only two cases and some loose boosters.  I don't think they can do it the same for BH since it is a huge set and only 6 boosters per case.  I do like getting every uncommon and three of every common guaranteed per case though.

... then just quit because of cost and disappointment in not being able to get/afford characters like Kyle Katarn that I know I'd want.

That same idea got me to clean out the basement a year ago and sell off a bunch of old stuff nobody I knew wanted.  Turned the sales into minis purchases and completed the sets.  Felt like free money and didn't care so much about spending too much on one mini as the stuff I sold was just sitting in storage.  The new set looks great overall and should allow the old ones to dip in price a bit as everyone is more excited about getting the latest.  I'm sure I'll end up with extras to trade when I get my three cases.

Thanks.  I now live in Nerk (that's Newark if you aren't from around these parts) - 30 miles east of Columbus.

Just joined the boards although I have many friends who have been here awhile so I know a few things.  I mostly collect 3-3/4" and now minis (once you start, you can't stop).  Also get the Galactic Heroes, Unleashed 2" and misc. others.  I have cut off the collection of 12"ers, Legos, Action Fleet (unfortunately), and ships.

Look forward to some lively discussions here and all that good stuff.
