Title: Cloverfield Movie Monster
Post by: Greg on January 21, 2008, 11:09 PM
Link, but no pics (http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com/ProductsByBrand.htm?BR=863&ID=21030)

I'm pretty sure I just shat myself....

Definately going to purchase this monster to decimate everything in my Star Wars collection.... no need to get a Rancor now.

I have not seen the movie yet and am very curious to see the monster. The description sounds really good. I wouldnt mind seeing the Rancor get that treatment.

Just saw my spam email from Hasbro about this - man that thing is sick looking.

I did not remember the thing looking like a bat and being so pale like E.T. in the rain. I thought it was a bit more dinosaur like and beefier but with the quick flashes and night scenes I suppose it was hard to tell. I really do not think this looks compelling enough to buy for $100. I personally find it to be a disappointment seeing it clear for the first time and will spend my money on more AT-TE's.

I agree 100% even though you never really had longer than a few seconds here and there to try and examine it.  I thought it had much more girth to it as well, but he just looks like a bunch of sticks here.  I never planned on picking this up, but I'm just glad to see that Hasbro is taking "chances" this year with pricier boys toys.  I think this would be better left to the imagination rather than fleshing it out though.

As Cloverfield obsessed as I am, Hasbro has let me down with this toy. I really hope it's not the final product. The monster looks waaaaay too pale and thin.
I was hoping to pose this thing smashing my AT-AT toy in a diorama-ish type setup, but the actually toy just looks like it could get tangled up around the walker and do nothing more. Thumbs down.  :(
I am still considering a purchase of this guy, but it all depends on the height compared to a Star Wars figure, Toy Fair pictures, how the little parasite critters look, and pictures of the final product. If any of those disappoint me, I'm passing on the monster so I can get another AT-TE (or 5 AT-APs)

I am not really feeling it. I didnt think the design for the monster was that great to begin with anyway.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I'm disapointed with how the monster looks. I thought it'd look more beefier & slow.  :-\

After seeing it in person i am more impressed than with the picture. It comes with 2 different heads, one open mouth and one closed. It also comes with a couple of mini-parasite monsters and the statue of liberty head which was smaller than i was expecting. I still dont think i will pick it up becuase of the price, but it was cool.

Just curious evenflow, did you take any pics of the monster or the parasites?

Sadly, we forgot the camera. The only pictures i got were of the Lego life size Clone Trooper and Indiana Jones with my phone.

I haven't seen the movie yet but I thought the monster looked pretty cool.  We have a few different angles of Hasbro's monster HERE (http://www.toytraderz.com/modules/eventgallery/v/toyfair2008/Hasbro/Cloverfield/) if anyone's interested.

I've so wanted to see this movie, but I haven't either.  Seeing the monster, I'm not sure what to think about it.  It looks a sewer rat on steroids experiment gone wrong.

I put in my order for this big guy tonight. Be warned that HTS charges you when you order and not when the toy ships. Kind of a crappy way to do things.  >:(

A quick question for you, John. In the third to last picture in your gallery, is that gray thing one of the Parasites that comes with the toy? If it is' then that is a real ******* disappointment for me, as I was expecting something a bit more for those little guys.

Yeah, the picture turned out lousy but it's supposed to be a close up of a parasite.  I guess it comes with quite a few - 10, I think.

I was wondering if they charged you right away or not. I think I'll wait.

Nobody probably cares about this (Cloverfield = old news) but I finally got a shipping notice for this baby. I'm quite stoked, as I've warmed up to this thing quite a bit. Expect pictures when I recieve it in the mail

Unbelievably, this thing suddenly came back In Stock at Entertainment Earth. I bought one immediately, has been on my want list forever and these things are IMPOSSIBLE to find on eBay, much less at a decent price.

Huge, huge get for me. I'm stoked!

Hell yeah man, that's an awesome score! It's still one of my favorite toys, even after having it for three years. As you can see in the top right corner of this pic, I display mine proudly alongside my Star Wars toys:

Awesome picture, Greg! Mine arrived last night and I am incredibly impressed. I had no idea the thing was so massive, this will definitely be the centerpiece of my non-SW display. I didn't even realize there were electronic features - very cool.

The only thing I was slightly disappointed in was the size and lack of detail on the parasites, which I guess makes sense since they are supposed to be done somewhat to scale.

Everything else about this is so awesome though it has instantly become one of my favorite toys. Well worth the wait!

That's a good deal.  Noticed earlier today BBTS has it up for preorder at $139.99

I think I got mine for $65ish after using a coupon code back when HTS had it. Seeing it for $60 now is really making me kick myself for not selling mine on eBay back when they were going for $300-$500. Oh well, hindsight is always 20/20.

Damn, I was psyched to get this thing back in April when it first came back up. But this latest price is insane! It's a fantastic toy...I recommend it highly to anyone who may be on the fence.

It's weird to me now that these were going for such crazy jack on eBay just last year. Sometimes it does pay to hold out.

fyi by searching "entertainmentearth codes" I was able to find some $5 off $50 and $10 off $90 codes.  I only bought Cloverfield and I was able to use the $5 off $50.  Too bad it couldn't ship free cuz currently EE is running free shipping off of orders of $50 or more.

oh well - good deal   ;D

I got my Zillo Beast...  errr, I mean...  Cloverfield Monster today.  Very cool lookin monster.  I still have not seen the movie - I fear shakey-cam barf-o-rama.

But this guy will fit in as a great beast for all my action figure lines.   :)
