He's not the VOTC. They can keep him.
-
The face sculpt is neat though - it's his likeness from 1977.
I think it's cool!
-
Yeah, the sculpt is really good. I just think they cheaped out, especially considering you have to buy all 5 VTSC figs, which are at least $10 a pop, and likely more depending on where you shop. For all of that, they could have given us value.
-
So it looks like a new head sculpt instead of the Sacul head. Extremely easy custom to make if you have a Sacul head cast. I wonder if they got the idea for this from FFURG's fan fic recipe gallery.
-
I like the 70's era headscuplt. That's cool.
I guess I'll skip the complaining and be glad that I don't need more than one of these.
-
I think that pic they used as an ad is photoshopped. If you look closely at the one with the helmet on, under the chin you can see a white area that isn't there on the removable helmet one. I think they are going to be molding a new helmet rather than the one we see there... otherwise, why didn't they show him holding the removable helmet?
Sucks that it's the 1998 mold, but still a cool collectible. Also nice that I don't feel compelled to get several. Maybe one or two. The head looks great though.
:P
-
I like the headsculpt, and I suppose it is a cool collectible. I do wish it was on a VOTC body though. Ah well.
-
I'm almost glad it's not a VOTC body, because how retarded would it be to get a Lucas VOTC Stormtrooper before we got proper Luke and Han VOTC Stormtroopers?
---
On second thought--the more VOTC Stormtroopers out there, the better. But it still would have been really, really silly.
-
Yeah, this is a cool oddity. I'll get one, but I won't be watching my mailbox.
-
Well, it looks pretty neat, but I'm not going to buy 5 extra VOTC figures just to get it...not this time at least.
-
Ha! The first thing that popped into my head with this younger version of the JorgTrooper was Lucas in Love! :D
(http://www.danecook.com/press/_img/pixie/lucas3.jpg)
-
I just need one, that's all. I would have tried to get more if it was the VOTC sculpt, but what can ya do?
-

I couldn't have said it better Jared...
I'm all for a VOTC Stormtrooper, but not if it's got a removable helmet with Lucas underneath. For me, if it saves them a couple bucks to cheap out on a Lucas figure that isn't in the movie (IE: not Popanoida), then I could give a **** what sculpt they used. It could've been the POTF2 figure for all I care, and it would've made it that much more comical to me actually. This figure just doesn't interest me as anything but a novelty, kinda like silver figures and crap like that.
If it was the VOTC Stormie I'd probably be mad taht they'd use the sculpt for a give-away but not put the f'n thing out on a basic card in droves for people to army build.
Now if they were just giving away Stormtroopers, I'd want VOTC all the way... Army builder's dream the day that happens.
-
That is a great sentiment Jesse.
Case assortments may be market driven (and by market here I am speaking of the retailer rather than the end consumer), but even case assortments invariably lead to stores ordering less cases. All it takes is 1 or 2 slow movers in a case, and in 6 weeks there will be 16 of them on the pegs, and the store computer will tell them not to order anymore because they aren't selling. The case assortments lead to peg warmers, which lead to less stock ordered, which leads to higher prices by Hasbro (a smaller number of sold figures must generate the same revenue).
Give me a mail away or direct order option for my army building needs. My damn death star closet is overflowing with troopers, but I will buy more anyway if they have some decent articulation and are priced reasonably. Bring back the plain- boxed stormtrooper sets with 4 VOTC Stormies for 30.00 and watch them fly out the door. We probably all have the carded one we need, now give us the grand army of the imperial empire and let the applause begin!
They could pull the gentle giant trick and throw a chase figure in there too. Every third box has a Han stormtrooper, Luke stormtrooper, or Georgie. While I don't like the chase figure business, at least it would give them a vehicle to get those items out to collectors.
-
No complaining, just an easy pass.
-
Yeah, that head sculpt is fantastic. Too bad the body sculpt doesn't compliment it. At any rate, I'm kind of glad it's the Commtech body. It makes it easier for me to get only one.
-
I'll send away for my free one since I had planned to open all of my vTSC figures anyway... now I'll just hope that he comes in a while mailer box and not carded so that I need another one. :-X
-
so you gotta spend at least $50 plus tax to get each VOTC figure to get the 5 coupons needed to get ONE GL in stormtrooper disguise?? :-\
IF the 5 figs were ones I really RILLY wanted then maybe but other than the SA looking x-wing pilot Luke and Tusken Raider, they just don't trip my trigger.
-
I'm assuming 2 things here:
That you just need to send in 5 proofs of purchase from the outer casings of the figures. That means you could buy all Scout troopers if you wanted to. I don't think they would individualize the stickers b/c that would just take more work (and cost) for them. Seems reasonable to assume.
And that the Lucas Stormtrooper is carded on a Vintage style card. That's why he's considered VOTC. If not, I definitely won't purchase it anyway, b/c I like all my figures carded.
-
I said yesterday that it looked like the original pic was photoshopped due to the helmet... looks like I was right unfortunately... it comes with the buff Stormtrooper helmet -
http://photos.sirstevesguide.com/showphoto.php?photo=16332&cat=4755
Personally, I think this is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Hasbro tried to build this up like it was some big deal, and they fall flat on their face with a pathetic attempt at a figure (if you can even call it that).
:P
-
and they fall flat on their face with a pathetic attempt at a figure (if you can even call it that).
:P
I'd call it a piece of turd that came out of a llama's ass.
-
I still think the headsculpt is pretty good. The rest of the figure is meh, but it's meant as a display piece/novelty item anyway, so it doesn't bother me one bit. I'll still get one, since I'll be getting all of the VTSC.
-
so you gotta spend at least $50 plus tax to get each VOTC figure to get the 5 coupons needed to get ONE GL in stormtrooper disguise?? :-\
Plus shipping and handling, I think.
-
Again, this is a figure that I just see no use for, nor do I have any interest for. This will sound crazy to some, but IMO if Hasbro really wanted to remember George, make a figure of a character he actually played in the movie . . . . oh wait, that's right, its coming out in April . . . .
Or make a figure with Geore in a flannel shirt and jeans . . . and on his stand, put the name Great Flannel One.
-
It's a bonus - that's how I'm forced to look at it. I'd be buying these VOTC figures anyway, so kudos to Hasbro for reviving the old mail-away offer thing and letting us all get in on the nostalgia that comes along with it.
If it was Hermie Odle everyone would be furious - at least with a Lucas figure most people won't freak out if they don't get one.
I'll order as many as I'm able to with all the Scout Troopers I'm hoping to find and maybe I can trade the extras if there are any.
-
With the VOTC concept, it might have made sense to make that "director" version of lucas. I just hope these are prototype shots and that it ends up being more VOTC like.
-
What I find funny is that you can order a case of these figures from SWS.com but you still have to send in the proof of purchases to get you GL stormtrooper.
Let's see, didn't I just purchase a case from you guys? Why don't you just send me 2 GL's with my order and we'll call it a day?
::)
-
It's an incentive for carded collectors to buy an extra set - nothing more, nothing less.
Being that it requires VOTC UPC's, one would think the stormtrooper would be of VOTC quality....
-
Are you going to have to send the UPC's or the Kenner logo on back of the cardback ???. If only the UPC then you can still get away with keeping the fig carded since the UPC is on a seperate insert inside the case. I put my VOTC in a regular figure case since I could not stand those cheap ass cases that were included so this would work out perfect for myself.
-
Anyone heard anything more about how Lucastrooper will be shipped? I just got this ugly, ugly info from a BBTS e-mail regarding the vTSC Pre-Order that they have on their site:
...and the Lucas Mail-Away should not be missed, it will also be packed in the vintage style packaging.
WTF? I guess I was assuming he'd be in a white mailer box, but this makes it sounds like he'll be carded and clamshelled!
If this is true and he does come carded, then that means I will need TWO of these Lucastroopers - one loose and one packaged.
And then I have to ask if can we trust Hasbro to send us minty-mint carded versions? I hate hate hate the idea of having to send away for multiples of this guy to ensure that I get a minty-mint carded sample in the mail. :(
-
Yikes. The only possible good that would come of the Georgetrooper (I like that name more :P) being carded and clamshelled is that the clamshell will hopefully protect the card, allowing it arrive in decent shape. If it was just carded, I highly doubt they would have the brainpower to ship in securely enough to arrive in mint shape. ::)
-
Okay, don't everyone throw stones at me because I'm about to say something bold....
Sometimes I really hate Hasbro's logic and often I criticize them but today I had a thought about being optimistic about it. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that I've noticed Hasbro doing alot of out-of-character, different, un-hasbroesque type of promotions and trying new things...thought about it and came to the thought that they're doing the right thing right now with the SW line. The movies are gone and not much to keep interest sparked but this promotional stuff is a trying step towards keeping the line alive at this point and I'm thankful for it. This is a good attitude towards the line they're showing and...yeah they're making mistakes and not perfect decisions but I like they're attitude towards things. I'm going to do my part in trying to buy as much stuff as I can to keep the line afloat so I can CONTINUE to see toys from them in the future...Including this silly bodied awesome head sculted GL fig. ;)
-

Great point. It'd make a lot of sense.

Ha! The first thing that popped into my head with this younger version of the JorgTrooper was Lucas in Love! :D
(http://www.danecook.com/press/_img/pixie/lucas3.jpg)
That was an amusing fan film, but after viewing Anakin and Padme's relationship in the prequels, I think we can categorically say George Lucas has NEVER been in love. ;D
I am seriously underwhelmed by this figure. Why the hell do I want a figure of George Lucas?
Can the Rick McCallum the Hutt figure be far behind? Then we could have a George Lucas as Bib Fortuna figure to go with it...they have the same chin cushion. :-X
-DD
-
So this is how it works:
What to do from EE (http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?id=JE-405087801&number=HS87129AA)
George Lucas mail-in offer details: In each Luke Skywalker (X-wing Pilot) figure is an order form. Each other figure includes a tab you must affix to the order form. Collect all the tabs from each figure along with a check or money order for $4.95 to:
Vintage Figure Redemption Request
PO Box 10790
Bozeman, MT 59719-0790
Offers must be postmarked by November 30, 2006. Figures will arrive between June 30, 2006 and December 31, 2006. Rules subject to change. Please consult the form(s) inside your action figures upon receipt for additional details.
-
Hmm. I was hoping for no shipping but kind of expecting it. Seems a little steep for a new head on an existing body which doesn't appear to be the VOTC sculpt. Figure may change, I guess, but we'll see.
$44.95 minimum for the head cheese....
E...
-
The extra five bucks is a little much, considering the cash you're already laying down on this thing. I guess I'll pass, because I don't plan to get Greedo. If a mountain of cash lands on me, sure, but until then...
-

You and I were on the same wavelength with this one E...
I was sitting there reading the story and just pondering the $4.95 even... I'm going to be ordering up two, but even if I got enough crap for 3 of them I'd pass on the 3rd or give the paperwork to someone else who wanted it. It's a bit dull and the sculpt is sad I think (I am assuming it doesn't change). I'll get it, but I think Hasbro could market repainted astromechs and protocol droids, and people would be happier and more enthusiastic.
A Gonk Droid with the vintage paintjob? Hell I'd try for as many as I could get actually... And that woudln't be costing Hasbro a penney over the basic manufacturing costs. The mold exists, a paintjob change costs no more than a normal paintjob... It's profit for them if they still tack the $5 shipping charge on, plus it drives sales of other crap...
Plus it wouldn't be a craptacular Lucas figure nobody REALLY was asking to get. Droids, people actually want though, and not allt he paintjobs are necessarilly good candidates for regular release into the line.
-
Yeah, the $5 thing blows it for me. I got burned when they did not send me my Early Bird figures (yes I was anal about getting everything correct to send it) and it never showed. Now they want me to buy all the $12 VOTC figures PLUS $5 more bucks for Lucas' head on a Commtech (should have been VOTC) Stormtrooper body? Nope, not going to bite on that.
I know I sound pissy but it should be a free figure in the mail for us. Sorry.
-
I agree. We're already over paying for the figures, you would figure they could give us something for all the money we spend.
-
I have to agree with the posts above me. Not only do you have to buy 1 of each VTSC, you have to open them, you have to pay more per figure than a regular figure, and then you get to pay 4.95 at the end? That is a lot of hoops to jump through, even if they have spent 10 years training us like circus animals. I think mail aways are one of the greatest things you can do to a collectible line. I loved them as a kid, and I love the concept as an adult collector. This is more about pushing product then rewarding loyal customers.
I like 3 of the VTSC figures, but I wanted to get multiples to get my 5 POP, not get told I have to get Greedo too. To me, that makes Greedo a $17.00 piece of crap I have to buy to get a questionable quality Georgetrooper. Not exactly feeling rewarded right now... ::)
-
questionable quality Georgetrooper.
Exactly. From what we've seen, it's turning out to be a big piece of ****.
Commtech stormie body and POTF2 helmet.
They need to use the VOTC stormtrooper body with a newly tooled helmet.
-
$4.95 for shipping? ::)
I mean, of course I'm going to pay it because I "need" that figure (insert lame OCD joke here), but ugh.
Still waiting for an answer on whether he is going to be white-mailer boxed OR carded/clamshelled. That will determine if I can get by with just one of if I'll need 2... :-\
-
Bah, I'm going to send away for one anyway, why bother complaining about another $5 down the drain? All it does is keep me from buying more basic figures.
-
$5.00 is nothing with all the driving around and frustration you'd go through trying to track down this figure if he was some retailer exclusive or something like that. ;)
-
Still waiting for an answer on whether he is going to be white-mailer boxed OR carded/clamshelled. That will determine if I can get by with just one of if I'll need 2... :-\
Considering how they cut corners on the actual figure itself, I would assume that he will be shipped in a white mail order box.
If he were carded, I'm sure Hasbro would make sure you knew.
They wouldn't want to lose the OCD crowd!
-

I was in the "probably a white-mailer box" crowd until I saw this blurb at BBTS.com a while back:
Anyone heard anything more about how Lucastrooper will be shipped? I just got this ugly, ugly info from a BBTS e-mail regarding the vTSC Pre-Order that they have on their site:
...and the Lucas Mail-Away should not be missed, it will also be packed in the vintage style packaging.
Ever since BBTS had that on their site and in their newsletter, I've been trying to figure out if it was an error on BBTS's part of if there was something to it...
-
Tough call, BBTS seemed to get the bounty hunt figure details correct on the cases when everyone else was doubting what they posted. Of course it remains to be seen if it really proves accurate, but so far the other reports seem to support that Rick had accurate information on the assortments. Heck Jeff, you've ordered one of each case on that basis alone.
I'll spring for a couple of Georgetroopers anyway. I'll probably try for about a dozen biker scouts and half that many sandpeople, that except for one of each will be opened, so getting the required paperwork is no big deal. I do wish they'd offer combined shipping for multiple purchases though. $4.95 is a wee tad steep too, mostly the handling aspect I'd suggest. You can send a small mailer to Canada for under $3 so domestic that rate is absurd.
Does the notion of this being run out of Bozeman bother anyone else? It's a great college town and all, with great skiing around, but Bozeman?
-
But, from what I read from the details, you need tabs from each figure, so buying multiple of one figure won' t work. You'll have to buy multiple of figs you might not want, in order to redeem multiple GL troopers ???
-
:-[
Really? Oh screw it then, I'll be getting just one. Man, that's simply assinine as a strategy. I was assuming it was a fairly generic tab or POP that you'd take and include. Aside from the two army builders I can't see myself wanting to open multiples of any of the others. I could push myself for Han and Luke I suppose, but Greedo? Custom fodder at $12 per? I suppose too you'd have to open multiple Lukes anyway just to get at the paperwork.
Hmm, this does stink.
-
All it is to me is an effort on their part to make sure you buy each figure and they get another $5 out of you. Honestly I am more concerned with actually getting the figure in the mail. I can just see one of their people mishandling the tabs or check and saying "Well this dude did not include everything. He ain't gonna get one."
Plus it's just odd to begin with. Here's your "free" figure for $5.00. Yeah thanks.
-
After the fiasco that was the Early Bird kit (clearance fodder) last year, I'm surprised that Hasbro is even doing another mail in promo.
-
Each other figure includes a tab you must affix to the order form.
If the tabs in the other figures are generic, then I'm not too annoyed. Taken advantage of? Yes. Annoyed beyond my normal expectations from Hasbro of late? No.
I hope they confirm the mailer box or card soon.
-
Ok, I looked all over the package of the Tusken I opened and it looks like the Bar code has the dotted "cut here" lines around it without actually saying so. My wife has the camera with her, but when she gets back I will try to take a photo. Obviously since mine was not intended for retail, it may not be correct, but I saw no other "Tab". The bar code is on the insert, so theoretically the Mint on Card guys could easily get the tape off the sides, xacto the Bar Code off, re-seal and nobody would even know..
The bar code does list "Tusken Raider" under it if that matters.
-
There is a way to beat the system.
Buy all the biker scouts & sand people for army building you want.
But save 5 insert from those openers.
Buy the other figures you need but not necessarily want. Now you have the inserts you need for the offer.
Switch the inserts and return the unwanted goods.
Pretty sneaky sis' :P
-
I said it once i will say it again, for this figure to do anything useful for me, it would have to be 2 - ply. I hope that everyone else that wants it though, enjoys it. :o
-
The $5 shipping cost to me points out that it's packaged on a vintage style card, likely with a poor Photoshop job of Lucas' head on Mark Hamill's body.
I don't want to get two, so I guess I'll just go with one.

Yeah, but then you're screwing over others that are trying to get the GeorgeTrooper too. :-\
-
Yeah, i know.. I wasn't saying that I'd do it, just that there is away for the unscrupulous folks out there to to get around the system.
-
Oh good. Cuz I donnt like bad peeplez. >:( ;)
-
I'm good peoplez 8)
-
New pics have surfaced of GL in stormie disguise. Looks like he will be packaged in VOTC style packaging.
As well, the tooling appears to be the Commtech version with a NEW helmet!
-
At least the helmet is an improvement now. Still not too excited about this figure, I can't believe they didn't use the VOTC sculpt.
:P
-
Links are always good.
Carded (http://www.rebelscum.com/toys2006/UGHlucas1.jpg)
Loose with helmet on (http://www.rebelscum.com/toys2006/UGHlucas2.jpg)
-
****. I was hoping he was not coming carded.
-
I yawn in that figure's general direction.
-
I'm not excited about it at all, never really was.
But the Baron figure of Lucas, I can't wait to get that.
:P
-
Well to me the $5 that they are charging for it is somewhat more understandeable now that he is carded. I will probably cave in and get it. I just hope they can get it to me unlike the EB set.
-
I've got to admit, that looks pretty good with the vintage Stormtrooper card. It will look nice displayed on the wall.
-
The card looks great, but I'm still passing.
-
You have more willpower than I. Now I have to get TWO opener sets of every single vtsc figure, because I need a loose and carded version of the figure.
What a pooch-screw of a year for completists.

If this has already been covered here, I apologize, but those different tabs--how fakeable do you guys think they're gonna be?
It's not as if the people up in Maple Plains, Minnesota, or wherever it is, are going to be examining the forms with magnifying glasses or anything.
And if it's morally-wrong to fake some tabs, well, it's even more wrong to require people to buy multiple Greedos and Han Endors just for the "privilege" of buying their special action figures.
-
Now that I've seen carded pics, I think the figure is meh at best, but I'm getting all 5 VOTC figs, so I'll just send in the order form anyway.
How many of these do you think will come in MOMC condition? ::)
-
How many of these do you think will come in MOMC condition? ::)
Zero.
-
Wow, looks like that initial BBTS report was correct after all. :o
My plan is to hope that I can sneak the tabs out of my carded set to send away for a 2nd Lucastrooper so I have 1 to open and 1 carded. Seems like a better alternative than buying a second loose set...
-
Jeff, I'll probably get multiples of each as openers, if you want I could probably mail you some mail-in tabs once I have some.
:P
-
PM sent, CHEWIE. ;)
I know I'll try to send away for as many as I possibly can just to ensure that I get a really mint-mint version for my opener.
Like I said way earlier in this thread, I have zero confidence in Hasbro's ability to ship these withouit some sort of damage occuring to the majority of them. :(
-

I guess it depends on your collecting ethics. Paul's pics make it look like we'll see mass theft in stores for the tabs or lots of returned items seemingly missing nothing, but have had the packet removed.
This might be a stupider move than the EB Kit if what seems likely to happen in fact does take place.
-
It doest appear that there is any way to tell if the packet has been removed either. :-\
Thruth be told though, this isn't that much different than people taking out the figure and replacing it with an old POTF2 figure and returning it. The people at retail are clueless to that stuff and with the clamshell it would be easy to do.
I don't know that there really would be away to have this kind of mail in offer without scammers getting the UPC or whatever was needed though.
-
I think we all can agree that stealing the tabs out of the stores is wrong, as is producing tabs when you haven't bought the required five figures.
But I think their policy requiring tabs from each of the five figures is balls, too. And if I were an army-builder, planning on buying multiples of the Scout and Sandperson, and I wanted multiple Georgetroopers for whatever reason, I'd have no problem with faking the tabs from the other guys.
'Course, the envelope-openers up in Montana likely won't be checking too closely for the five individual tabs, either:
Five tabs? Check.
Order form? Check.
Check? Uh. . . Check.
Someone should send in an offer with all Biker Scout tabs, for example. I'd bet they'd score a figure.
-
Not sure how I feel about him being on a vintage card. Makes sense, yet it seems wrong.
-
For the most part, board members here will be honest and not steal tabs and what not. It's the scalpers that I'm worried about who will do anything to load up on the GL figure (to put on ebay).
-

Agreed. I'll be checking for the integrity of the tape along the sides of the case. If it's cut, I'm not buying the figure or will open to ensure that the correct tab is present.
I'm likely after two of these as well, one to open and one carded. I'd opt for more but I only really planned on buying multiples of the Biker/Tusken. I'll buy two of each of the others as well though as these are one of the few items I keep carded because they do look so nice. So I'm ok on the two George troopers I'll need, but extras will be tough because I'll be rather unwilling to build an army of Greedos :-\
-
I'm afraid of buying any of these figures in the stores after about the first 2-3 weeks. There are going to be armies of Luke, Han, and Greedo without tabs before this is over.
This sucks, because it will lead to fraud and frustration and it didn't need to be that way. Just make a good old mail away (POP and receipt for x figures) and be done with it. This galactic hunt crap is bs. The only winners will be those willing to screw others. This line is becoming a scalpers dream- buy the figures, return the figures, still get the mail away to scalp to the poor bastard who bought your tab-less figures.
-
Arrgh, does hasbro see what they have done??? :o
This is gonna be nuts...then again I dont live in the u.s and these things are exclusive to the u.s right?
-

Like I'm going to try and do for Jeff, after I get my first set of these, I'll try and help you too.
That makes two people, probably the limit I can help on this. I don't want to buy that many Hans and Greedos!
:P
-
I posted in the VTSC thread that the figures I found yesterday are heat sealed instead of taped, like the ones in the pics above. It was impossible to open the clamshell without major damage to it, and I don't see how anyone will be able to pull off the theft we've been hypothesising now. I guess that's the big plus.
The big minus is that there's no way to get into a second carded set, extract the POP labels, and close the clamshell again. So if someone like me that is loose and carded completist wants 2 Lucas figures, three sets are in order. That is lame beyond all belief.
-
Someone should send in an offer with all Biker Scout tabs, for example. I'd bet they'd score a figure.
I might end up trying that in the end... I'm going to buy lots of Scouts if I can find them - and I need to come up with enough stuff for two of these Lucas figures somehow... one to open one to keep carded, yadda yadda yadda...
So, if anyone is buying the VTSC to open but doesn't care about the Lucas figure and wants to sell me their proofs of purchase for a reasonable price - let me know. :)
-
Well, I guess I'll be sticking with just getting one Lucas and keeping it carded. Thankfully it features that now-obsolete body, so it won't bug me.
I don't know what's worse with Hasbro exclusives- the $13 "premium" figures or the poorly executed mail-ins (this and the EB set.)
-
Their mail aways are a joke. Whatever happened to just cutting out the UPC symbols and mailing them to Kenner? Now you gotta buy 5 different figures, pull each tab off, gather all your receipts, write a $5 dollar check, mail it, and then hope the goof that handles it at Hasbro does not drop anything you sent them. LOL. Then you MIGHT get the figure....maybe.
-
This figure will be available for direct order from StarWarsShop.com at some point in the future. Otherwise, this thing would be coming at us in a white mailer box. It's a gut-feeling I'm basing this on, but I'm really confused by the level of effort that Hasbro has put into this mail-away figure.
I had already planned on getting at least three sets of these:
One to keep MOMC
Two to open and send away for my sealed MOMC Lucastrooper and my opened Lucastrooper.
I also planned on getting at least two more each of the Biker Scout and Tusken Raider as part of my typical squad building efforts.
Down the road, I expect to see Han, Greedo and Luke warming the pegs and if by some chance I can pick up another set or two of those three at clearance, I'll snag them and try to send away for a few more Lucastroopers.
I'm willing to bet that if you simply include five tabs and the $5 check you'll be sent a figure.
-
I don't know what's worse with Hasbro exclusives- the $13 "premium" figures or the poorly executed mail-ins (this and the EB set.)
That's a good question... I think both are pretty bad. Probably the mail-ins are worse though to me, because they are inconvenient.
:P
-
This is a nicer promo than the EB set though.
Let's be honest, most of us we're planning on buying a set of VOTC to open.
Plus, it's cool that we're getting a carded Georgie vs. a plain white mailer box.
-
Oh yeah, it's certainly much better. I just don't care for their hoop jumping to get it. That's all. Oh well, quit my crabbing right? Ha-ha.
-
Now we know why stormies can't shoot straight.
"Aren't you a little old to be a stormtrooper?"
"Cut! Cut, cut."
BTW 'already sent away for 2 of these trinkets.
-
I was poking around ebay and found a completed auction for just the order form with all 5 POP's. It ended at over $80. ???
-
Watch this thing get blow out for $10 online somewhere. ::)

Yeah, it is nicer than the EB set, by far... but now the problem is that I need a carded GL Stormie AND a loose GL Stormie... so I need to buy 3 sets of vTSC figures to get enough coupons to send in. So I'm gonna end up with an extra loose set that I don't really need.
:-\
-
I'd take them off your hands. :)
I'm only collecting loose on these, and the Lucas Trooper is a big pass for me.
-

That's odd, wouldn't it have been cheaper to just buy the figs?
Must have been an international buyer.

Or a bonehead, which I've noticed are abundant right now.

Mailed away for mine today ;D

after seeing its package, i may end up getting another set :-\
-
Well, I wound up getting all 5 VTSC figures so I may as well get the Lucas figure for the $4.95
As far as I can tell from reading the directions you need to mail:
- The Redemption Certificate with all 5 stickers on it.
- A check for $4.95
Is anyone sending the UPC proofs of purchase (the ones that go through the store scanner) in their envelope?
-
Now you gotta buy 5 different figures, pull each tab off, gather all your receipts, write a $5 dollar check, mail it
I don't believe you need to send the receipts.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
-
No reciepts are not necessary.
-
And what about the UPC POPs?
-
And what about the UPC POPs?
No. Stickers, order form and payment.

Straight from Hasbro (http://hasbro.com/starwars/default.cfm?page=news&newsid=8E148113-D56F-E112-44211818BAB808EB):

Q: Do I need my register receipt to redeem my George Lucas figure?
A: No. The register receipt is not required.
-
And what about the UPC POPs?
No. Stickers, order form and payment.
Thanks. That's exactly the way I interpreted the Rules and Regs. But I looked at the scanner POP on the bottom of the package and saw this fancy silver dotted line around the POP and was curious.
-
I guess when Hasbro said the figures would start shipping in June, they weren't kidding.
George Troopers are popping up all over eBay from all the usual importer/sellers as well as a few "regular" folks.

Looks like he's got a white mailer box for shipping. I sure hope that Mailer Box is strong enough to keep my figure MOMC as I'll be more than displeased if it shows up all crushed. >:(
-
I saw two of these personally yesterday any my local dealer shop. Seeing it in person almost wants me to get an opener.
-

Agreed.
I'm still waiting for my case of VTSC from a Canadian e-tailer, so it'll be awhile before I have to worry about a crushed LucasTrooper, I guess.

-
Has anyone on the boards confirmed receiving these? If not has anyone's check cleared?
-
I was chatting with a guy who was bragging that he mailed away for 10 of these. Why? ???
-
For his Lucas Clone Army, duh. Either that or eBay.
-
B/c he is a moron.
Even if you have the cash to blow on this, why would you? Personally I rather get 10 more scouts
-
I was chatting with a guy who was bragging that he mailed away for 10 of these. Why? ???
Because he's gonna sell them all.
-
While every photo that I've seen has Lucas in the CT stormtrooper body, I have seen both the VOTC helmet and the CT helmet. What gives?
From eBay (VOTC helmet):
From RS (CT helmet):
Obviously, the one with the VOTC helmet looks superior to the CT helmet ??? ???
-
Hmmmm... that's odd. I wonder if the one with the CTC helmet is just a prototype image? It seems weird that they would retool both bersions to be removeable.
-
I wonder why it is in VOTC packaging?
-
Now that I've won the VTSC JD Giveaway, I can send away for this bad boy!
-

Hey! The CT sculpt is good...
-
It appears they reduced his 70's white man afro. The production sample looks good. I hope I recieve miine. I mailed away 3 weeks ago.
I never got my Early birds and FYI I had them shipped to 2 different addresses in 2 different states.
Makes me nervous.........

Has anyone sent off for theirs yet? I have all the stickers and form, but just haven't sent it out yet. I guess with all the horror stories that came from the Early Bird set, I was a little nervous to send it in too early and have it get lost ;).
-

I sent mine in about a month ago. I check every couple of days to see if my checked has cleared. Still nothing ::)
-
Nothing here either on about the same timeline as you, Jim, and the check hasn't cleared. I sent another in this week to my new address.
Jack, I actually had luck with the Hasbro Customer Service folks in redirecting the EB figures to a new address. You should give them a shot and see if they can fix things for you. Not like they don't have a ton of those things they're sitting on. ;)
-

Jared, Hasbro customer service was great but after they sent the replacement that did not make it I did not want to think I was a liar by telling them. A guy at work sold me one cheap and I bought an extra Chewie at a flee market for $7. So I am covered, chewie was the only reason i wanted it.
Thanks for the encouragement to try again and you are right that they have a lot they are sitting on. Brians toys will probally buy them up and charge 3 times the price
I just sent in my second GL Stromtrooper today via Priortiy mail with delivery confirmation. I better get both or the mail man is personally meeting an angry buff 6'5 star wars nerd. I am watching the confirmation tarcking and my bank account.
-
I guess at SW Weekends in Orlando if you purchase the set of 5 VTSC figures you'll be able to get your GL figure as well. No having to send in the POPs. Not sure if this is entirely true.
If it is true then it's bull**** making everyone else send in those little stickers when someone can walk into the Star Tours store and purchase it outright.
-
GL available at Disney (http://www.rebelscum.com/story/front/Lucas_Trooper_At_Disney_98589.asp). Don't you love "exclusives"?
Bah, I was only beaten by 13 seconds. :D

I would not be too upset, knowing how they inflate prices they will probally charge $15 a figure so you will wind up paying more.
Actually, I am wrong be upset, the best advantage they have is they can mail away for another one with the tabs they have in the figures.....F@ckers!
-
I am sure someday they will offer it on StarWarsShop.com for $19.99.
-
Now that I found my Greedo POP, I've sent away for this stud.
-
Seeing it at the SW weekend does make my blood boil. I broke open 2 sets of these things (with no use for an extra Greedo, Han, or Luke) so that I could get a George to have open and to keep carded. Now if you are in Florida you can get two by paying slightly more per figure? And don't forget, they only have to pay the extra "postage" money for one.
I don't begrudge those who get the deal, I'm ticked at Hasbro for making such a hoop jumping pile of BS, and then circumventing it as they like.
>:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
-
For those that sent in keep an eye out. My check cleared this week so hopefully I will see this figure within the next 10 days.
-
I am sure someday they will offer it on StarWarsShop.com for $19.99.
This may be true. After all, every Lucas made will not get mailed away for due to people who keep a sealed set and people unable to complete a set.
-
My 2 checks have clearded!
Hopefully the armored bearded one is on his way............
-
I know i'll be getting one George, but it would be really nice to have a second one to open. I doubt that anyone buys doubles of Han, Greedo, or Luke though, so there's no way I can get any extra POPs. :(
-

I only wanted the tusken raider so I have a coupon I'm not gonna use.
-
Just need Greedo, Han, and Luke as extras. I know tons of people are gonna armybuild Tuskens and Bikers, just as I am, so I don't need any of those. Thanks anyways, if you were offering. ;)

yep but no problem, trying to help some fellow collectors out.

Check ebay I have been seeingcoupons for $2-$3. Its the cheapest way if you do not want to buy the figures. My third set was for customizing. My second sealed set is just that, sealed.
-
Galactic Hunter (http://www.galactichunter.com/absolutenm/templates/full_article_template_1.asp?articleid=5434&zoneid=2) put up a nice preview of the LucasTrooper. According to the pics, it comes with the Commtech helmet. The Lucas head looks pretty good though. I still need to send in for mine.
-
I sent off my check about three weeks ago, any word on anyone getting these?
-
According to the pics, it comes with the Commtech helmet.
"Commtech helmet." I don't get that. They didn't make any type of "So-and-so with removable Stormtrooper helmet" figure back then, did they? So how can the helmet be recycled? I think the only removable Stormtrooper helmets they've made until now were the ones included with the Han and Luke Stormtroopers back in the early days. And Georgetrooper's helmet is definitely different from those.
Don't mean to be a ****head, but I've seen several others make that comment, and I don't understand how this is anything but a new sculpt.
-
I've not examined the photos enough to say one way or the other but I'm guessing what happened is whoever was tasked with this figure at Hasbro perhaps carved out a CT Trooper helmet to work as the removable helmet... I dunno.
With it being basically an inferior sculpt (the commtech trooper that is, overall) with a helmet from dubious origins, I'm not particular if they did just hollow out a CT helmet and put it into production or if it's an all-new sculpt... It's all meh to me.
-
You can't just carve out an existing sculpt on the production line. Though one could permanently modify a pre-existing mold to be hollow vs. solid....
Chances are you're both right - it's a new mold molded after the Commtech version.
-
Right Harley, what I'm saying in my post is that you carve out a CT helmet and put that into production rather than sculpting a-new from the ground up... Not that they did this that I'm aware of, it's just a suggestion as to what's perhaps likely if the helmet appears "old" in its sculpt looks, but yet it's obviously new enough to be a production-run removable ST helmet other than the old POTF2 LUke/Han helmets.
-
Anyone receive theirs yet? My check was cashed over 2 weeks ago ???
-
I haven't even sent away for mine yet. I think I'm waiting until people start recieving theirs, don't really know why.
-
For anyone out there missing any coupons; I have a few Scout and Tusken coupons. Just send me a SASE and they are yours.
-
I think I have a scout. I need a Luke....
-
All I need is Han,Tusken & Biker. My friend who works at WM is looking for the Biker.I'll probally pick the other 2 on my trip to Pittsburgh. The Lucas head looks nice.
-
Okay, so my check was cashed 3+ weeks ago and still no sign. Anyone else received theirs yet?
-
I snagged one of these at Star Wars weekends a couple weeks ago, but I have not received any of the 6 I sent in for. Check has not cleared though.
-
Okay, so my check was cashed 3+ weeks ago and still no sign. Anyone else received theirs yet?
No. My check cashed the end of May. Doesn't look like they've started shipping yet.
-
Yup, my check was cashed about 2 weeks ago and I figure it will arrive while I am on vacation next week. :-\
-
Troopers across Canada are getting their Lucas in the mail, the Canadian version. Sweet! ;D

I have a biker scout and tusken raider that's all I bought from this line, so I have no need for the coupons.
I traded with DSJ a couple years ago for a canada clone trooper helmet for an Ephant Mon if anyone wants to verify I'm good for trading.
-
Just sent off for mine.
I had the vintage figures a while back but they were straight from China and didn't come with UGH stickers.
Toys r US in the Uk have just started stocking the Galactic Hunt figures so I've shelled out Ł50 and ended up damaging the cards opening the damn things.
I hope it's worth it!!

Nick

-
I sent for mine about 2 months ago, they cashed my check 2 weeks ago.
At any rate, the helmet looks like crap. The mock ups with the VOTC helmet looked way better.
-
Yup, my check was cashed about 2 weeks ago and I figure it will arrive while I am on vacation next week. :-\
Then when you get back, you'll hopefully have a nice surprise waiting for you. :)
:)
-
They cashed my check, hope it gets here soon.
-
They cashed my check about 4 weeks ago - and i haven't gotten mine yet.
-
Anybody get this thing yet? Mine came today. I figured I'd hear about from the L.A. posters a day before I got mine.
-
When did you send for yours?
-
When did you send for yours?
May 1.
-
How were they shipped, Ook? Is it in a box that will have me worried about the condition of the figure/card/clamshell, or is in a sturdy box that protects it fairly well? And does it say "Not Steve Martin's Penis Beauty Cream" on the box? :)
In all seriousness, this is one of those figures that I have no desire to open and that I would prefer being in good condition on the card to begin with.
-
It's the same white box the modern Early Bird came in. There's probably pics up in the RS thread. Looks like several people there have gotten it.
White mailer:
That pic isn't mine, guys. It's from the above mentioned RS thread (http://threads.rebelscum.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=saga2006&Number=1907052&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=4).
-
They haven't even cashed my check yet. If they're starting to show up hopefully it'll be cashed soon.
-
I got both of mine today. ;D
-
Still haven't received mine.
-
I should've traded this thing off. LOL
-
Well, I opened up one of mine. :o
The body is a standard Commtech Stormtrooper body that we have hundreds of. Nothing special here. It should have been the votc stormtrooper body for the price we paid for these things. But I digress. The helmet is a very soft rubbery plastic. It looks bigger to my eyes than the regular commtech helmet. The Lucas head itself is pretty well painted. He has lots of body and the neck post is the same as the commtech stormtrooper. It's not a ball post head. So this head isn't really compatible with other figures heads unless it's another commtech stormtrooper.
The package says the Saga Collection on it. The card is a nice vintage stormtrooper card. The case is the typical VTSC case but is taped shut not vacume sealed. The white mailer is simple and says George Lucas (in Stormtrooper Disguise) on the front. I wonder how many postal employees will manage to divert these from their home destinations to ebay.
-
I'm hopin' to get mine soon!
-
Were these sent in the mail or shipped by FedEx?
-
Were these sent in the mail or shipped by FedEx?
US mail from Bozeman MT.
I don't know why I thought they were coming from L.A. Maybe StarWarsShop ships from L.A. and I was thinking of the Lucas Family set...
-
Now that they're shipping it's time to send mine in!
-
Correction...My shipping checks were cashed! They cashed one about a month ago and the other weeks later. I also received a notice in the mail that I have a package in the management office of my apartment complex. Mine very well could have arrived today as well.
-
Came home to find the conspicuously marked "GEORGE LUCAS (IN STORMTROOPER DISGUISE)" box sitting in front of my apartment. I'm amazed that the figure, card, and clamshell were in perfect condition with not a nick on them. In fact, even the white mailer box was in perfect condition. Weird.
I have to admit, though, that I see a rash of GLISTD figures showing up on Ebay in the near future with address labels mysteriously missing from the mailer boxes. I know I made the "Not Steve Martin's Penis Beauty Cream" joke before I saw that they actually identified what was on the box, but it's basically just telling dishonest people that "there's Ebay money in this here box!" ::)
-
I got mine and my craptacular Cell Phone snapped a photo of it to share. Yay!
-
I got one at Star Wars weekends and I am waiting for 6 more. I'm sure somebody will want them. But I am really un-impressed with the sculpt. I've got a few already spoken for for "Carded" buddies that didn't want to open theirs, the others are for overseas guys who think they actually need this thing....
-
When I receive mine I think I'll keep the helmet on and use it as a regular Stormtrooper.
:P
-
Recieved my Georgetrooper this afternoon. The clamshell arrived in ok shape, considering the shipping box was thrashed. No room for error on this one, for us MOC collectors. :-\
-
My Lucastrooper, as well as my Sideshow Kit Fisto, were waiting for me when I got home yesterday. The white mailer box was a little beaten but the clamshell and figure were in excellent condition.
-
My mailer box was beaten too yesterday. I was really nervous opening that but the clamshell was AOK! ;D
-
Funny thing happened,my wallet accidentally got washed with my certificate in it (for safe keeping),so it got ruined.Looks like Ebay for me! :'(
-
Got my 2 Beardo troopers with pristine shipping boxes and outer clamshells.
The shipping force was with them!
Really nice sculpt on the head, I was impressed and quit pleased with him!
Well worth the wait.
-
Mine arrived in great shape. After getting a good hard look at it, I might send away for one more to open.
-
Got mine today! ;D
-
Damn, now this is one of those moments when it's not nice to live in a country like Finland. I'd really like to have the director himself as a figure, because at least in the photos, Lucastrooper looks quite spiffy. ;D
The ironical part is that I _might_ be able to get all 5 VTSC figures from a speciality shop in here but I just noticed that it costs $4,95 to get one. Well...that's life, I suppose.
-
Funny thing happened,my wallet accidentally got washed with my certificate in it (for safe keeping),so it got ruined.Looks like Ebay for me! :'(
With POP's? Wouldn't it be better just to get a new Luke for the certificate if you have the POP's?
-
The VTSC Luke form is now being held for someone. :)
-
Unfortunately I'm going to have to post here the "Dressel Rebel Official Stamp of Condemnation" on this figure.
While the head sculpt of Lucas is nice, the figure has the Commtech stormie body, and Commtech stormie helmet, in sharp contrast to the early photos from RS that I posted in this thread.
Let's face it, the VOTC stormie helmet and body are superior in likeness and appearance.
Why then did Hasbro insist on using the CT versions? It makes no sense to me whatsoever.
This figure could have been really cool, instead it turned out to be a bust because they just had to go use a 6 year old sculpt when they had a brand new slam dunk stormie sculpt in the VOTC form.
I don't get it.
-
Hey! The CT Stormie is still good...
-
Just look how ******* stupid the CT helmet looks compared to the VOTC helmet:
While every photo that I've seen has Lucas in the CT stormtrooper body, I have seen both the VOTC helmet and the CT helmet. What gives?
From eBay (VOTC helmet):
From RS (CT helmet):
Obviously, the one with the VOTC helmet looks superior to the CT helmet ??? ???
-
I still have not received mine yet, and I sent in my stickers in the second week of May.
Anyone else in the same boat....?
-
I haven't seen mine yet either, although the check was cashed quite some time ago (as everyone's was, it seemed). Hopefully it will be showing up sometime soon, in the next couple weeks at least.
-
I sent the form in around June 1st, haven't received mine yet.
-
Mine's for trade if anyone's interested. Let me know and I'll PM you my wants.
-
For those that have not sent them in yet dont be too concerned. It seems that they are shipping these by region.
-
Full marks to Hasbro UK.
Mine arrived today just two weeks after posting off my coupons.
Top stuff
-
I can't seem to find anyone who doesn't need their Luke POP. Anybody want to trade something for the other 4?
-
Mine showed up yesterday, along with another local JD'er, so I guess shipping by region is correct. We were both lucky and they showed up in fine shape, despite using mailer boxes that look meant for something much smaller.
-
I received my figure yesterday and was very relieved it was in excellent shape when I opened it. Now it's time to work on a second one. :)
-
is there anyone who has gotten the lucas mail away?
-
is there anyone who has gotten the lucas mail away?
Many have. I got mine July 10.
-
I received mine as well. A few days after Ook.
-
anyone open this sucker up?
-
anyone open this sucker up?
Yeah. It's lame.
-
I found cheep Hans and Greedos, so I'll be able to mail away for a second one. I'm still on the fence about it though.

You should get it to trade. If not, I'll give you something for a Luke POP.
-
I wonder if mine got lost in the mail. They cashed my check over a month ago and I still haven't received anything.
Are there others still waiting?

I'm in the same boat here. My check was cashed over a month ago as well, and still no signs of Georgetrooper. Hopefully its still on the way, and maybe they just haven't made to this area yet.

I always used to pick up extra exclusives to trade, but for some reason, I've just never had any luck getting rid of them. :P
-
I finally received my George Lucas Stormtrooper in the mail today, so they are still making their way out to everyone. Unfortunately, it was kind of bashed up (clamshell smashed, figure bubble smashed, top of card bent a little). Still happy to have it though.

My check was cashed a little over a month and I just recieved my today, so they should be arriving soon. I was kinda disappointed in my. Like others have stated, mine had the clamshell smashed, bubble smashed and the card was bent.

From Hasbro (http://www.hasbro.com/starwars/default.cfm?page=news&newsid=FD1C7252-D56F-E112-4192AF866AAE174E):
Due to the difficulty of finding vintage Scout Troopers, among others, at retail, we are relaxing the criteria that consumers send in one of each of the five vintage figures to complete the offer for the George Lucas in Stormtrooper disguise mail-in figure. Effective immediately, consumers may send in five stickers from ANY mix of the five eligible figures. Certificates completed as such will be honored. Thanks for spreading the word to the Star Wars collecting community!
Good news for those who have piles and piles of extra tabs... of course, you still need the proper form from X-Wing Luke though. ::)
-
I was just wondering the other day if anyone had tried beating the "five different tabs" system, and if so, if they were successful. Guess that's kind of a moot point now. Which is a good thing.
So is it due to the "difficulty of finding Biker Scouts," or is it really due to a surplus of Georgetroopers because of their silly redemption requirements?
(And couldn't the Luke X-Wing order form thing be photocopied? I mean, as long as they've got the check and the five tabs, then who cares if the order form is genuine or not?)

Nice! I still have 3 Hans and a Greedo sitting around. Now I just need another Luke w/order form...
-
Anyone know how we can ask Hasbro if you still need the actual form from Luke? Otherwise, you might just be able to photocopy it??
-
I just e-mailed Hasbro to inquire about the order form that comes with Luke and whether or not it's still needed. If I get a response back from them I'll make sure to post it.
-
So it's admittedly difficult to find the Biker Scout, but we're not going to do anything about case ratios...we're just gonna tweak the mail-away system. Meh. ::)
-
Cool stuff I Am Sith, I was wondering this myself...
I have lots of Scout tabs and a couple of other figure tabs as well, so I'd like to mail them all in for as many Georgetroopers as possible, sure, but their information was definately vague. I hope you don't need the Luke (I'm assuming not, but you never know) as he was just about as difficult a find as the Scout was really.
I personally didn't think the Scout was hard enough to find for a response like this from them... I'm kind of surprised. I just bought one the other night that's been chilling for a month now at WM.
-
Received my mail-away GL In Stormie Disguise today. Cool figure, but I'll keep the helmet on and add him to the ranks of my Imperial forces.
-
Scouts have been harder to find in some places than others. Around here, I saw a fair share of them, but not that much. They're all dried up now as well. However, I was in Houston 2 weeks ago and saw TONS of Bikers hanging around. I guess it all depends on where (and maybe when) you look.
-
I don't see these anymore in my area...well the 5-6 stores I frequent at least. I still don't know why I have not sent mine in? Maybe I will get going on that today. I will feel like a dimwit if I don't sent it in before the promo ends. Whenver that is.
-
If anyone has three spare tabs (of anything now, obviously) and would like to waste an international stamp, I'd like to be your friend. :-* ;)
-
I've got extra stickers from Biker Scouts and Tusken Raiders and I'd be happy to help you out Brent - but I don't have any entry forms because I didn't buy extra Lukes... are they letting us print these out from anywhere???
Can we send in photocopied entry forms?
-
Even with the new and improved "relaxed" sticker criteria, I still don't want to spend the $5 for the piece of ****. It looks terrible mixed in with VOTC stormies.
-
I still don't want to spend the $5 for the piece of ****. It looks terrible mixed in with VOTC stormies.
I think the CT Stormie sculpt still holds up even against the likes of the VOTC Stormie sculpt. It's fairly accurate, and has decent articulation.

It's not the worst thing I've ever seen, but with the advent of the VOTC stormie, the CT stormie is junk. The CT stormie is an army builder that can't even hold a rifle with 2 hands for God's sake. What good is that? I'm going to point my rifle at you! I can't aim it and fire it, but I'm gonna point it at you! In addition to that, the helmet sculpt is way inferior.
That begs the question, WHY did Hasbro resurrect that ancient sculpt when they had the VOTC sculpt? Makes no sense.
-
I plan on getting another to custom him.
-
Ah hem... anyone know anything about obtaining extra order forms?
Anyone willing to scan one and post it so we can print a few out?
-
Rob I sent an email as well to Hasbro about obtaining a order form due to the fact I purchased the Luke knowing it was missing. So we'll see what happens.
-
I think I Am Sith mentioned emailing Hasbro about it today Rob but didn't mention a reply yet...
Hopefully they just let you mail them in on a piece of paper... That'd be dandy.
As far as the CT figure goes the sculpt is decent and holds up even in today's age. I'm ok with that... They're good for filler that way. Their articulation is not swift though. Wrists are all the figure needs to be passable so I'm working on something for all mine... The rest though is just tough noogies I guess. He harkens back to a time Hasbro was sorta trying, but still doing little goofy **** like bent ankles and things to mess the figure up... NOt that this time in question has passed completely *cough*Cmdr. Cody*cough* but at the time it was more common.
-

I can probably spring for another Luke if need be to get the form. I can always put him in one of the X-wings. But I'll wait on word for the order form criteria/requirements for now. Thanks for the help. :)
-
Figures Hasbro would relax the rules, especially after I picked up additional Han's and Greedo's just so I could order another two Lucastroopers. Good thing they were on clearance.
-
I think I Am Sith mentioned emailing Hasbro about it today Rob but didn't mention a reply yet...
Monday morning and still nothing back from Hasbro. I'll make sure I post right away if I hear anything.
BTW, did any of you hear that WM has started their clearance for the VTSC figures? I read $3 in some areas.
-
I haven't heard anything back from them either. My local WM had VTSC figures for 4.25
-
I received a response from Hasbro. Instead of sending me a replacement sticker and order form they want me to send the packaging and the figure back to them and they'll ship me out a replacement. Supposedly they are shipping out a prepaid box of some sort to send the figure in.
I wonder if it would of been cheaper for them jst to send the sticker and piece of paper than go through all that. ???
-
I hope that goes well.
A few years back Hasbro told me to send an ATT in for a replacement b/c the box came with two right hand sides of the tank; basically the part of the tank that fire rockets and has wheels which is connected once opened. I could not assemble it so they send me a replacement.
The replacement was Jabba w/Han beast pack and monkey leia. I have always wondered if there are dozens of tank like this out there but nobody knows b/c they kept them in the box. :-\
-
Still no word on whether you need the ACTUAL order form for redemption???
-
Straight from Hasbro:
"As previously announced, we are accepting the five stickers from ANY mix of the five eligible figures. We are also providing you with an online redemption certificate that can be downloaded here (http://www.hasbro.com/common/images/news/starwars//REDEMPTION_CERT.pdf). The online certificate will also be honored in place of the official redemption certificate."
So, there you go. :)
-
Thanks Jeff for creating that link. Hasbro responded to my e-mail about 5 minutes ago, but attached a .pdf version of that document and I had no idea how to get it into this response. You definitely saved me the trouble!

Please send us five bucks because we are stuck with a lot of this crap. Send us anything. Send us stickers. Matching stickers. Different stickers. The order form. No order form. We really don't give a **** at this point. Just send us five bucks. It doesn't even have to be money. Just something worth five bucks will do.
-
Will they accept bits of string?
-
Will they accept bits of string?
If you can gather up five bucks worth, yes. The official announcement is undoubtedly coming.
-
Maybe I'll send in a box of Jedi Master Points
-
That's funny. You should and see what they do.
-
Is anyone else having problems printing the form? When I try it comes up up completely black except for the UGH logo... ???
-
I just tried, my printed fine. Maybe check your latest plug-in of Acrobat Reader
-
I like that jedi master point idea. I might send out a few hundred of those along with the order form and a check to see whay kind of reply I get.
-
I have the funny feeling that by the end of the year these Lucas figures will show up on HasbroToyShop.com. I wonder how many they made??? They just seem sooo desperate to get rid of them...
-
Well I'm going to order 3 more then with my extra stickers from the Tusken Raiders and Biker Scouts. One is going to Brent, if anyone else outside of the country is looking to get one and doesn't have the means or the stickers, let me know.

LOL! Maybe they should open it up to all basic figures to.
-
I might just send a check for $4.95 and see what happens.
-
It's too bad really. If they had opened the offer up like this some time ago, the stores may not have had to clear them out like they did. I missed the clearance prices myself, but if I spy some tuskens or even han/luke cheap I will grab them and send in for another (assuming the figures have the stickers left of course).
-
Maybe if I ask nicely, Hasbro will just give me one! ::)
-
I just ordered 2 more. I was thinking about taking one and customizing, putting the head on a VOTC body. Anyone else thought about this?
...or, the tin sets are coming with the Sandtrooper...
-
Wow, I just sent in my order form last week and they've already cashed the check. Not even a week! They must really need the $$$...
-
I sent one a while back and still have not recieved him, I have a bad feeling about this............
-
Like was mentioned earlier, I think something will 'come-up' by the end of the year where Hasbro is trying to get rid of the rest of them still. Maybe they'll contract them out to a major Etailer or something? Seeing how many VTSC on the shelves in my area stores they must proportionately have several left that no-one's claiming..( and the VTSC I see is clearanced too!)
It's likely you'll have another crack at it.
-
I sent one a while back and still have not recieved him, I have a bad feeling about this............
My check was cashed on 8/8 and I still haven't received my figure. What was everyone's turnaround time???
-
mine was probably 5-6 weeks after the check cashed- so you are a little over that, but not too much
-
Ok, so i'm 2 days short of 8 FULL WEEKS since my check was cashed. Anyone have a customer service # I can call???
-

I'm about in the same boat. I'm having faith that things are just going very slowly.

Ok, I feel a bit better knowing that i'm not the only one still waiting this long. Maybe this batch is running a little slow then. I'd still like to have it though. :(
-
Ok, I feel a bit better knowing that i'm not the only one still waiting this long.
Me too. I have a family member waiting for one, and I was beginning to get antsy.
-
I too have been waiting a long while.
-
You guys still waiting? They still owe me a second one...
-
No sign of mine yet. >:(
-
Waiting for my second as well. :-\
-
I guess I should probably mail away for this guy sooner or later. I've had the POPs since April and have yet to send them away. :-X
-
Out of curiosity, I've been looking up the Lucas Stormtrooper on eBay and notice he's been selling for between $25-45....I guess there's a few fans that didn't want to shell out the $50 or so for the VTSC figures plus the $5 shipping for George. The eBay deal is still cheaper, unless you've been picking the VTSCs up on clearance.
I myself am still waiting for 2 more, one to open and one for a custom (checks were sent in and cashed about a month ago).
-
I got my initial order. Then I received the one for the JD Giveaway and the one I opened.
But I sent in 3 more forms several weeks ago (one of which is for you Brent), the checks were cashed almost immediately, but the figures are no where to be found.
-
I guess I should probably mail away for this guy sooner or later. I've had the POPs since April and have yet to send them away. :-X
Same here... glad I'm not the only one.
-
Almost 3 months now and still no Lucas, they're really slacking on this second shipment...
-
3 months? Jeez. Im getting antsy after a month.
-
Ok i've gotten to the point where i'm trying to contact Hasbro's CS dept and i'm having no luck. My 2 emails have gone unanswered so far. Anyone else try?
-
I haven't tried to email them yet. Is there a customer service number?
-
I couldn't find a phone # anywhere on their site so I had to use that crappy automated email form... I just took a look at the order form and contrary to what I thought it says the figure will arrive by 12/31/06 and nowhere does it say 6-8 weeks like most offers do...
-
I just received the two that I ordered, like, forever ago.
-
I got mine today as well.
-
I'm just getting ready to put two in the mail. Hopefully there's still time to get them.
-
I just got another one yesterday!
-
I got my figure as well. Interesting though that the name of George Lucas and action figure were written on the box though. I'd rather everyone not know what's being mailed to me, or even what I'm mailing out. I don't write "$50" on the envelope a check is held in. Maybe it's just me, but I find it interesting.
-
I got mine this weekend too, and that's it for me on these... Good times.
-
Is the helmet more in size with the commtech trooper helmet? If so, what would feelings be if this helmet was used with '07's stormtrooper?
-
I'm glad to hear these are popping up, hopefully mine will come this week then...
-
I got mine yesterday. ;D
-
Got one today.
-
Still nothing. My patience wearing VERY thin... :-\
-
I think it's funny that people still thought it was going to be the VOTC stormie body on this. Here (http://threads.rebelscum.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=2231484&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=5&vc=1) is a prime example. You can tell in the packaging that it's not. ::)
-
Some people rather dream/wish/hope instead of facing facts. I do not know why that is though.
-
Finally got to open my opener and I have to say that I'm underwhelmed. :P It was really disappointing that the Lucas head was just sculpted to fit in the Stormtrooper head joint. While I understand the decision from a cost and design standpoint, I think it came off as cheep.
-

Cheap too. The whole figure doesn't make sense to me. Here they are putting a Commtech figure on a VOTC card when they have the damn VOTC stormtrooper to use. At the same time, they use the VOTC stormie mold on a SAGA2 card for the sandtrooper, but not the VOTC stormie mold on the VOTC card for the Lucas figure.
Where the hell is the sense in that?
-
Good additional point. I was just annoyed that cheap parts were used for what should have been a premium figure.
-
I got my second as an opener and after hearing the less than steller reviews(kinda expected) I think I'll just try to see if I can trade it for something I really want. :-\
-
Does the offer still expire by years end?
-
I got mine a few weeks ago. I haven't opened him yet, and from the looks of the reviews, I never will. He arrived in pretty damn good condition, not all smashed like Ive heard from other people. :)
-

I would bother opening him unless for display purposes. I'm kind of sorry I did. :P
-

I seem to recall that the offer ends in November. Does anyone know of sure?
-
Thought it was November 31 myself.
-
From what I see, Redemption Certificates must be postmarked by November 30, 2006 & received by December 8, 2006.
George Lucas in Stormtrooper Disguise (http://www.hasbro.com/starwars/pl/newsID.8E148113-D56F-E112-44211818BAB808EB/page.news/dn/default.cfm)
I have no idea if it was extended.

Crap, I guess I should send mine offf then, eh?
-
Interesting. I should have thought about this sooner. I have enough stickers to get at least two more, but, am not interested in the figure. Should have put them up to trade.
-
Hmmm, I still haven't received mine. I guess it's just never coming.... :'(
-
I finally stuck my certificates for the Lucas Trooper in the mail yesterday. I think it's funny people paid $50+ on ebay for these things. :)
-
Got the check written tonight, and it's all ready to mail. Going out tomorrow.
At some times I wonder why I didn't mail it back in June but then I read people's thoughts about the figure and then I know.
-
I think it's funny people paid $50+ on ebay for these things. :)
I think it's funny when people buy any modern SW stuff on e-bay. :)
-
Last day today, get that envelope postmarked stat!
-

If you're patient with eBay, you can steal some stuff at really cheap prices. I've won loose lots of 5 or 10 clones or stormies for $8-10.
You live in a good area for obtaining new stuff in brick and mortar stores. So do I. But I know a LOT of people who don't.
Kevin can chime in anytime he wants...

Over on the RS front page:
Last Day For Lucas Trooper Deadline Extended! (http://www.rebelscum.com/story/front/Last_Day_For_Lucas_Trooper_Deadline_Extended_101645.asp)
The promotion has been extended until February 28, 2007.
-
Looks like it's going to Spring before my Lucas Stormie is so rare and "exclusive" that I can sell it and give up work ::)
-
Figures. I spent an assload of time Wednesday and Thursday sorting through all my VTSC figures to figure out which to keep clamshelled, which to keep carded, which to open, and which to return/sell. My notoriously procrastinating ass was quite proud of itself for actually getting my five entries in just in the nick of time. But alas, it was all for not, at least not the anxiety that was involved in frantically dealing with that bogus (again) deadline that I thought I was up against. Oh well. I guess it got my lazy ass in gear finally, so hopefully my Lucas Troopers make it sooner rather than later now.
How many folks still have outstanding orders that haven't been filled on this figure? At least it sounds like there won't be a shortage of the thing, which is what I was fearing most, so that's reassuring.
-

You're right. I keep forgetting about that. :-X

I'm still waiting on mine, the check was cashed 8/8/06...
-
YEAh i still have my chance to get one now. all i need is 2 more stickers and of course to print out the form :)
-
I guess I lucked out because I have not had any problems receiving my 2 figures.
Second one sent: Oct 20th
Received: Dec 8th
-
Holy crap. I just checked my bank account online, and apparently all five of my Lucas Trooper checks were cashed a few days ago! I guess that's a good sign... Hopefully they'll be here early next week then. Have they usually shipped shortly after your guys' checks have cleared, or is there not much correlation between the check(s) clearing and the package's arrival?
Either way, I'm feeling much better about things, after last week when I thought I'd wind up with none...
-
I sent four entries in a day before the deadline and the checks for those all got cashed on Wednesday this week. Hopefully the turnaround time is short and they ship soon.
-
Well before the deadline was extended I think Hasbro said they'd all be mailed before December 30/31. So hopefully that remains true for all of us who barely made the deadline. I'm assuming that my check was cashed as well since I mailed it a day or two before the deadline.
-
Ok, i'm at my wit's end with this. I've emailed CS several times now with no response and the phone #'s are ALWAYS busy. Anyone have any idea what I can do to find out what's going on with my order???
-
Got mine today, it's pretty neat. I was surprised to find out that the head is ball jointed, I thought it was a regular neck joint.
-
i am still waiting for mine, ive been waiting since early november.
-
My second one came yesterday.
Is the offer still valid? I think I have 4 more stickers thanks to a couple of bikerscouts I found while Christmas shopping ;)
-

I wouldnt call it a ball joint, but it is different from the standard neck joint.
I do believe the offer is still valid BD SW fan.
-

Yes, the offer is good through February 28th, 2007 (http://www.hasbro.com/starwars/default.cfm?page=news&newsid=3A8E8CE1-D56F-E112-4A9079EB16FD80FD).

-
Received mine today... and in perfect condition. 8)
-
STILL WAITING! dammit!
-
Received my second Georgetrooper this afternoon. This time around it came nice and minty, so now I can open the other one that came banged up. Strange that some people are still waiting on theirs. I sent my check on 11-27 and Hasbro cashed it on 12-1.
For those who sent for multiples, did you send separate checks for each one, or just one check for them all? Still have a few stickers left to send for a couple more George's.
-
Holy crap, is that Ricardo?!? :o Good to see your MIA ass floating around the boards again!

All five of my Lucas Troopers finally arrived yesterday (in 5 seperate boxes). I sent in 5 different checks in 5 different envelopes, btw. I wouldn't dare try to combine them all into one with Hasbro's oft stupidity.
I was rather horrified when I saw the mailer boxes up close, as four of the five were smashed pretty good. But to my utter amazement, the contents inside made it through relatively safely (aside from some scuffing on most of the bubbles). I'm just glad to finally get those suckers out of the way, after thinking that I may have missed the boat on them by waiting 'til the very last minute...
-
Ricardo, I sent in different checks for the two I sent away for at the same time.

Stiiiiiiiiiillllll waaaaaaiiiiitiiiiiiiinnnng....
From August... ::)
EDIT:
I just called the CS dept and I got a really nice woman on the phone. She said she'd see what they could do and call me back. My phone rang 10 minutes later to tell me that they'd be shipping me out a replacement and i'd get it in about a week. NICE! If this comes through, major kudos to Hasbro...

I actually have had good dealings with Hasbro Customer Service in the past... Got some figures from them once. They don't always have it on-hand which you just have to accept at times, but if you act quick enough they can usually hook you up with what you need/broke/lost.

oh yeah, hasbro CS is very good, ive gotten everything from coupons to figs for complaining to them. ;D
and...
MY LUCAS FIGURE CAME YESTERDAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! YAYERS! ;D ;D ;D
my comments:
*I will not open because it is the commtech sculpt and being the fig it is itll be super rare in a few years.
*It did have a big dent on the bottom, but isnt very visible, and im overdue for a votc han solo in my collection soon, so ill just rip him open and put his clamshell on my lucas fig.
*It actualy LOOKS LIKE HIM! Very kool! ;D
im pretty happy with it.

Open it. This figure is not going to be "super rare". They made an abundance of it.

besides, its not even very opener-friendly.

How so? Mine opened easily. And, like MetalJedi said, it will never be "super rare". They made a ****load of it. Now get to rippin' that sucker off it's card!

So far I've received 3 of the 4 I sent in for. Haven't opened any just yet. But I am surprised to see them making good on these in about 5 or 6 weeks time.

-
After the Comicbook pack Han, it really makes it hard for me to want to pick up more of the George.
-
Well, the wait is FINALLY over! My Lucas that was ordered in August just showed up yesterday...
-
My forth and final one arrived last week before the snow hit Indy.

Just a reminder, less than a week to mail away if you still want another (or a first) ;D
-
I guess I should cave in and try to get it then.
