Title: A nice way to complete your collection...
Post by: Spacey on July 22, 2008, 01:36 PM
...if you have 150,000 sitting around for this TIE Fighter (http://cgi.liveauctions.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=52933&item=260257433381#la-image-2).

I'd give my left nut for it...  Owning original prop models from ILM would be a dream come true I think.  Especially knowing exactly which ship this is, which is cool.

Also note...  It's NOT WHITE...  :)  People really believe the ships were white.  They're not.  And the TIE's are not this color in the later movies either.

I like the payment options that they take Check. Like any "COLLECTOR" has 170,000 in their checking account.

Profiles in history has had a lot of high end items on the bay from various movies & TV shows in the past.

Gary Kurtz Star Wars Artifacts  (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=8831.0)

Neat stuff to look at but yeah, break the bank but I'm use to seeing high prices for pieces.

Now this is something... Master male molds for X-Wing fuselage  (http://cgi.liveauctions.ebay.com/905-Master-male-molds-for-X-Wing-fuselage-Star-Wars_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ52933QQihZ016QQitemZ260257433388QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW)

Nope, this is... choose wisely (http://cgi.liveauctions.ebay.com/916-Holy-Grail-Indiana-Jones-and-the-Last-Crusade_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ52933QQihZ016QQitemZ260257433416QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW).   8)

He does not take PayPal...so he has lost a sale...

Besides, I'm not spending that kind of cash if I cannot sit in it myself, and possibly sleep in it once my wife finds out that I bought it...

The spaceballs dinner and the landing plateform would have been a great piece to hang up within a tie/xwing battle.

Honestly...I'm happy that someone has the kind of wealth that they can do that if they want to, but really?  If it comes down to a decision of "Should I buy a kickass movie prop, or should I buy a home for three..maybe four...families in need" it really begs for a little perspective....

But then there was the 20% buyer's premium.  So it went for more like $420K.

Wow, lot of that SW stuff went unsold.  That's interesting.  I can see the Restraining Bolt not selling for the price they listed as an estimate, but the blaster not selling?  Or Obi-Wan's lightsaber?
