Title: darth_sidious CUSTOMS: update: Ackmena!
Post by: darth_sidious on June 30, 2006, 08:04 PM
Many of you may have never heard the name Mahwi Lihnn, but if you have ever played "Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds", you'll recognize this female bounty hunter from the game.  From what I was able to find, she was employed by the Trade Federation during the events of AOTC, unfortunately I wasnt able to find a reference picture to post with it - if anyone has one - please post it.  Here is a picture of the custom figure:

update 1: Cindel Towani
update 2: Ithorian Warrior
update 3: Ackmena

Sweet. I've never heard of her, but she's sweet.

Very nice job!  BTW, Dark_Phoenix, Mahwi Lihn, is a bounty hunter from Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter (a preTPM novel) and I'm pretty sure that's also when she dies.  I haven't read the book in forever, so I don't really remember it that well.

Excellent custom here. Im not entirely sure of the reference material, but I do beleive Ive seen this character before somewhere. Has she ever appeared anywhere else but Battlegrounds?

BTW is that a Cindel Towani custom up there in your avatar box? Id love to see how that one was made. Could you possibly post a pic?

Thanks, I have only seen her in the GB game, but apparently she had an appearance in the novel listed above.  As for my avatar, it is indeed Cindel Towani, from a custom I made of her, here is a picture:

Mahwi Lihnn> I love it. Vey good likeness. Video Games are such a fertile ground for new customizing ideas. Some of the coolest concepts in the star Wars universe are from the video games. Force Commander which realy sucked for gameplay has some great concepts I'd love to see transformed into plastic.

Keep up the great work!

You've got some great imaginative customs.  Do you have a recipe for Cindel?  She came out fantastic!

Thanks, Cindel was made from the POTJ Bespin escape Leia, spykids head, and the rest was sculpted out of clay and the clothing made with softgoods.  ;)

Cindel is such a cutie.  Excellent job on her, I remember that custom very well from your thread at Scum.

Conceptual Ithorian Warrior

Here is a custom figure based on conceptual drawings from the Art of ROTS book, an Ithorian warrior, shown in a few pictures in the book.  I thought the designs were interesting so I created an outfit similar to the ones seen in the book and came up with this:

I love it!

Is that some sort of samurai outfit?

That's really awesome man.  Nice to see an Ithorian custom like that, you always come up with some really good ideas that are different from most other customizers.

That Ithorian guy rocks! I've always loved the "Hammerhead" figures/characters, I think they're one of the coolest designs in the entire SW saga. I plan on getting a bunch of the new TSC ones (once they finally show up here) and doing some wacky customs. Is that a Xizor robe on him? Good work!

Very cool DS, nice job. Great use of Xizor's robes( i think)  They really work well.

Great work.

I love the concept, it's the sickest thing ever.  Tall, skinny, and lanky looks awesome.  However, the execution doesn't have me as excited.  He's kinda short, fat and squat.

If you could somehow thin him out and make him lanky like the concept, this guy would be a SLAM dunk!

Nice.

DS- I think the Itorian looks SWEET.  Like everyone else, I really like the way you put the costume/robes together.  Its a great mix of parts.  The helmet (I guess that's what it is) is my favorite part of the figure.  My only minor criticism is that he seems a bit too short.  This could be an artifact of the angle the picture was taken but I'd rather him look a little taller and lankier.

To answer a question, it is indeed a modified Xizor robe for the clothing, and while the length of the "skirt" portion of the robe makes him look shorter, he is actually the same height as Momaw...  ;)

I like the Ithorian, but I like all Ithorians. Too bad Lucas didin't put them in the movie. Would have been awesome to see Ithorians kick some butt. I might have to go find that book and try one or a few of these myself. That stick looking rifle in the picture looks awesome. Also I don't think it is DS's fault that it looks short. The base figure IMO is too short to begin with, even know it's a great sculpt. I think the sculpt Hasbro did needs to be about a half inch taller. The mass of the ithorian is there, just not the heighth. Anyway, great custom DS.

SW Holiday Special: Ackmena!

This custom is from the SW Holiday Special, a laughable television program that only aired once.  Its George Luca's "black sheep" of the SW universe.  While there have been several customs of Boba Fett from the cartoon featured in the special (including mine), there has yet to be an Ackmena custom figure (to my knowledge).  Ackmena, played by none other than Bea Arthur, was a Cantina owner on Tatooine.  Admit it, who can resist a figure based on Bea Arthur, haha...I have something to admit myself, the figure was going to be a joke present for a friend, but I was surprised that it turned out rather nice, and has a good likeness - so here she is, including a reference photo:

Commented more over at RS but that softgoods skirt looks really good Jared. Nice work. Very Tatooine-y feeling :)

Wow, that IS really good!  Very imaginatively done!  Bravo.  Excellent soft goods.

What head is that?  I can't quite place it.  Good choice for the character, though.

"Good night, but not good-bye!"

Thank you, the Ackmena head is from aunt Beru, it was the best match I could find, wrinkles and all...  ;)

Very nice Work!

I love the way the soft goods and the sculped hair turned out. I'm also very impressed with the characters you've been customizing. You really do pick the Obscure of the Obscure. I commend you for doing Customs of EU characters that most of us would never even think to do.

Top notch work!
