The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: 6" Black Series - 2013 Wave 2
« on: December 4, 2013, 08:10 PM »
Just snapped this pic on the way out the door.  I'm not really seeing what you mean about Boba Fett.  He's shorter as he should be and the scale is right on IMO.

Thanks for the pic, that really helps! I think it's just the way my figures are posed. IMO, Boba is way bulkier than Maul, but I can see now how Han and Boba are pretty much the same height.

The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: 6" Black Series - 2013 Wave 2

I was lucky enough to order Boba on Amazon for $22 (instead of the $40 rate like he is now) when they had him back in stock in limited amounts before Black Friday. Just got him in the mail and man oh man is this figure great.

However, I've noticed he's all kinds prone-looking to breakage - my sample has really stiff joints that make a noticeable sound whenever I move his right arm and left ankle. It kinda reminds me of how when I ordered Maul from Amazon and he came with a dislocating left knee. It's funny because there's all sorts of reports of how people have had 6" figure parts break on them (an article comes to mind of when someone's Greedo snapped at the ankle joint). Considering the price on these guys, this shouldn't be happening.

One last thing, and I know it may be too early to tell because we haven't gotten that many figures yet, but does anyone think Hasbro's scaling of these figures is just radically different through each character? For example, the Luke seems tiny to Maul, who's tiny compared to Han. The Sandtrooper towers over them, yet the Boba is WAAAY huger than any of the figures. Idk, it just seems weird that the heights don't seem very consistent.

Of course the Sandie would still be full price, of all the Wave 1 figures. The only figure I've grabbed thus far from this line is Darth Maul (you can obviously tell which era of Star Wars I grew up in, lol) and my little brother recently got the Sandtrooper. I was futzing around with it a little and came to the conclusion that I really wanna buy this guy now.

I just found this section and laughed because this is the literal definition of my relationship with my action figures (No, dammit, don't call them dolls, they're collectibles!)

I'm having a lot of fun posing the 6 inch figures in really dynamic poses - right now Maul looks like he could have been taken out of a frame from his duel and Han is doing the half-turned, shooting and running pose.

Oh, and I just got the 30th Anniversary Mustafar panning droid from eBay the other day. Obviously you can imagine how much freakin fun it is posing Ani and Obi fighting on that thing.

The Black Series 3.75" / Re: The Black Series 3.75" - 2013 Wave 3

I saw this wave is available at a lot of online stores, most definitely caving in and buying. I've never bought whole cases of waves until the last online exclusive wave of TVC, and that was because that wave was just all-around amazing. This wave is pretty damn solid, too.

I've never been one to jump to buying the Clones, but daaaaaamn the paint job on the Neyo is incredible! That's one stellar figure. Plageuis, however, is the one figure I really do want - at first I hesitated when I found out he was a Muun but, seriously, you guys need to read the "Plageuis" novel - that book really is going to change a LOT on what you know (or don't know) about him and Palpatine.

Star Wars Universe / Re: Are you ready for yearly Star Wars films?
« on: November 18, 2013, 03:14 PM »
I never grew up with the OT; they were video cassettes I owned when I was little. I think the whole reason I love the PT more than the average Star Wars fan does is because I grew up with all the PT films, with Episode I when I was a little kid.

That being said, there really is something special knowing I'll be growing up with the Sequel Trilogy as well - I kinda feel like the older SW fan that grew up with the OT. So I'm really excited about that and all the other standalone films.

The Sequel Trilogy / Re: Star Wars Episode VII
« on: November 18, 2013, 03:12 PM »
It's really funny and kinda/sorta irrelevant to this topic, but I wrote an analysis paper on how I believed Disney was more about milking out the profits from merchandising Star Wars than putting in any effort into actual creative material… and then hearing about Lucasfilm's struggle to try to get the film out later and Disney saying no because it would make for profitable summer AND holiday merchandising sales for them kinda proved my entire paper right.

That being said, I'm glad it's been pushed back to December. Definitely not liking that a Star Wars film is being released in December and not May, but, hey, I'll take it. Gives them 6 more months to make something more quality - with Star Wars films having gone away so long and now this one coming back basically from the dead, this entire Lucasfilm buyout would be a laughing stock for years to come and Star Wars as a rebooted franchise would be dead in the water if Episode VII was a flop.

Which makes me wonder, just WHAT does Leland Chee do here?

It's funny, because for most of the stuff in the show that's a glaring continuity error, official posts from Leland Chee has mostly gone like this:

"In keeping with the continuity, [insert original canon here] is no longer canon, and TCW takes precedence."

I thought his job was to reconcile existing canon with new canon, not totally blowing it off and not saying anything like, "Hey, excuse me, Darth Maul was originally dead here, you can't do that."

The clip shown was amazing. Definite new direction with the show, hopefully it makes for a kick-ass series finale.

At this point it would seem as if Ahsoka saw her exit from the show?

Honestly, 10-12 episodes sure isn't enough, especially if they're saying the final season contains story arcs. So thats just about 3 whole 4-episode story arcs. At this point with the series ending, I'd say, if on nothing else, focus the hell outta a good Maul arc! Make a big deal about bringing him back, only to end without telling us what happens?! I hope they don't make a rushed, contrived arc that offs him in a chummy way. Gotta give him a kick-ass ending.

It's really interesting that in the featurette for this episode, Filoni says he's in the "Ahsoka lives" camp but George is in the "Ahsoka dies" camp. I wonder who wins that one at the end of the day.

Also, I thought it was funny how he says that in the original draft for this episode, Ahsoka would just go back to the Order - I'm so glad they didn't do this. It would make the entire arc meaningless and make no move as to handling what happens to Ahsoka.

I think if they just left out Ahsoka from the rest of the show, it'd be okay canon-speaking (although we'd probably like to find out what happens to her). Killing her off at this point in the show's timeline wouldn't make sense because then Anakin would most likely have to be be depressed, which he's obviously not at the start of ROTS. So far, I think Filoni's done a very good job approaching as to handle her fate.

If you want confirmation of the traitor in the Season 5 finale, watch until the end of this teaser from Teletoon.

I scoffed watching that teaser.

Even having Anakin have an actual duel with that person goes back to the whole argument that it's stupid that Ahsoka can take on Grievous, Barriss can take on Asajj, Cad Bane can take the Jedi... etc.

Barriss can get the drop on Ventress?  Really?

Ventress can almost kill her master, Luminara, but then somehow Barriss pulls a "B**** please" and knocks her down.

It also bugged me that she could adequately use two lightsabers and totally whup Ahsoka's ass.

And you thought Darth Maul was the badass of TCW?

Barriss was the real badass all along. ::)

I wish Filoni thought these things over more. Cuz first Ahsoka can holdup her own against General Grievous and Asajj Ventress, two famed Jedi-killers known throughout the galaxy, yet somehow Barris Offee can now totally just toss her around like Sidious did to Maul.

The new preview has Tarkin tell the Jedi that "the evidence is indisputable" and that's why Ahsoka's guilty.

I think that's pretty ridiculous considering all they have to do is look at the cameras and see that someone else took out those clones and let Ahsoka out. And they really have no evidence.

What the heck is going on with the writing in these episodes?

Did anyone notice that, in the Jedi War Room, when Obi-Wan was speaking through hologram to the assembled Jedi, he mentioned something about Saleucami? I didn't hear exactly what he said, but he mentioned exactly that name - and it's also mentioned in ROTS, when he tells Anakin that Master Vos is going to assemble his forces there. Maybe I'm doing a little too much thinking on this one, but what if this episode shows just how close the show is to ROTS now? Maybe the Republic is about to launch its forces there, and this is a sign that the show's timeline is coming closer to ROTS. I wonder if that means it'll be ending soon.

I liked this episode, I thought the chase scene was pretty epic. I have a few complaints based on some of the events that happened but I guess my questions will be answered in the coming episodes.

One thing though. Whoever Force Choked Letta to death did so without being there. I thought that was a stretch, for sure. It crosses that line into Force Powers as over-the-top. I would only find it acceptable if it was Palpatine, but I wouldn't be surprised if maybe it was him.
