I think the word intimidating is a good one Brian. The sheer volume of lines, and product for each one, is overwhelming. Back in 1995 when the line was reintroduced, keeping up was no problem. I tried to do one carded, one loose, and another carded for my younger brother in law. Then the ships started coming out, and the micromachines, and I enjoyed it, but slowly had to start cutting back. I consider myself fortunate to own a home, but there is only so much space that can be allotted, and so much money that can be allocated.

I like some of what Hasbro had to show at Toy Fair. Momaw, R5-D4, the death star gunner, and some of the others. I loved the saga hoth wave, but much more I find myself planning on cutting my Hasbro intake significantly. Price per item, space, sheer volume of product, limited articulation, re-releases, chase figures, and the availability of other nice items that aren't remakes of a 4 year old figure (Kubricks anyone?) will all be factors.

I think I will  be re-evaluating my current Hasbro collection. It is far from complete anyhow, so I may as well start focusing my Hasbro purchases. I am thinking Death Star, Tatooine, and Hoth. From the prequels I will probably always be a sucker for troops, but 1 of each will should be enough. I would like more army builders for the original trilogy, but they need to find a different (and less expensive) way to offer them. Army builders at 7.00 each (or 12.00 for bikerscouts) and one per case will drive many of us crazy.

Great review ruiner! Nice pics, good detail, great job!

This is my favorite from the young Saga collection. I hope I can find more, and soon!

VOTC stormtroopers, bikerscouts, Saga Tie Pilots, a new imperial officer set and new snowtrooper set. Maybe a 4 pack of imperial droids. All mailer boxes, all the time. No wasted time, money, and space on expensive packaging that is headed to a landfill. 25-30 dollars for a set of 4. Hasbro direct. Sometime in 2006-2007 would be nice.

VOTC stormies in mailer boxes. 30.00 for a set of 4. Do it with biker scouts, snowtroopers, and imperial officers. I'll give up coffee, pepsi, and (some) beer. Please do this...

I don't want to see any more army builders in expensive packaging that is just headed to a landfill anway.

The Vintage Collection / Re: Target DPCI #s for TSC

My TIE Fighter when I went for it before they were on shelves I got with the first confused stocker I found...  So that was cool.  Persistance is key I guess though, incase you're denied.

A little off topic, but I never found the Target TIE with the new wings. Anyone know if they are due out again? Or should I start searching ebay?

I don't see this on the slate for any time soon. It could show up at Hasbro direct like the ROTS interactive R2, but I wouldn't recommend that path if you really want one. I checked ebay completed ones, and they went for 30-45 dollars. Basically still retail or a little better if you are lucky. I would say grab 2 if you can, they look great next to Darth's TIE!

Put me down for RH Vader as well. If you are new to collecting the line, that one can be had for less than 10.00 easy, and is well worth the money.

With the announcement of an Endor AT-AT, we should be seeing these again sometime soon. I understand Toy Fair doesn't generally show exclusives, and I'm pretty sure this was scheduled for Target or Toys R Us only. I would guess we are looking at a 60.00 price tag minimum.

Since it is supposed to be from Endor, I am wondering if they will leave the electronic gadget out of this one. Everything from that was from Hoth anyhow. I hope they leave the paint alone though. I don't want a bunch of green and brown paint splattered on it.

Now that I've been opening the hoth wave, I hate these things. I love the cardback art for Veers and the AT-At driver, and they have a big old hole in them because of these lame-blue-saggy-sabered sith that are sitting in a junk drawer.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: The Future of Star Wars Collecting

The push for getting star wars into every niche is disappointing. The choppers, transformers, force battlers, metal ships, mini-figs, and now metal figs. If there are people out there that love them, great, but we don't seem to see many of those people around these parts.

But as long as retail is happy with the line, we get to keep on chasing. So let Hasbro make some stuff at various price points to keep the retailers smiling and rolling in our filthy money.  ;D

That is a dang pretty outpost- Excellent work!

I'm afraid Hasbro is never going to give us a playset this nice, for any price.

I bought is as a display piece as well, but I don't know now. It sits on top of my Millenium Falcon Crew set from the Sams'club special pack a few years ago. It looks kind of cool, but I am soooo sick of that Vader mold. The imperial packs a few years back, the hoth version, I must have 8 of this guy. Enough already.

I have both Fett versions from Carkoon, and one each carded from Hoth. I have extra Veers, AT-AT's and gonks, but still need to get more snowtroopers before they dry up completely.

These droids are super-cool! Thanks again for being the local distributor Jeff!

I wish there was more than 1 imperial though... My display space is limited, and I can only have so many dioramas set up at a time. I need more "bad" droids for my death star.

How about plastic strong enough to keep it's shape even when subjected to that mysterious force known as gravity? Plastic that isn't trying to become a liquid, and knee joints. Those would be some cool gimmicks.

My closest Wal-mart has had 3 carkoon figures for the last 3 weeks. I've found Hoth elsewhere, but that means an extra $1.00 each at Target. Bring on the new figures!
